Welcome to Kent College and our school community. Located on the outskirts of the beautiful cathedral city of Canterbury, our school is proud both of its 130 years of history and tradition and of its forward-looking, innovative approach to education. A new independent school for boys and girls aged 11-18 in the heart of London. KPS is a fantastic addition to the central London independent school scene – a new 11 to 18 co-educational school with boarding we firmly believe we offer something different and exciting to discerning young learners and their parents. While our Sixth Form, located opposite the Natural History Museum in South Kensington, opened in September 2017, the Lower School (ages 11-16), which is just around the corner from both Queensway and Bayswater tube stops, opened its doors to pupils in September 2018. Also, we have quite possibly the best boarding facilities in London and can provide accommodation to pupils from year 10 upwards. It is important to note, however, that we see ourselves very much as a London school for London families. We are a small, friendly school and we want you to be part of our extended family. Staff have high levels of professionalism and work hard to ensure that every Kemnal student can shine. Following a recent Ofsted inspection, praise was given to the warm atmosphere in the College and inspectors noted that Kemnal students are polite, confident, and friendly young people who feel safe at the school. Over recent years, the demand for places at Kemnal has fallen which has meant that the College is currently undersubscribed. TKAT (The Kemnal Academies Trust -the Academy sponsor) with the Governors and Headteacher have considered different options for the future of the College and have investigated ways to increase pupil numbers. Attracting more pupils will avoid a reduction in funding going forward and allow further investment in facilities to enhance teaching and learning. At present, the current single-sex environment is not reflective of the school’s drive to build a more inclusive ethos, that pupils can make the best all-round progress (academic, physical, personal, social, and emotional) regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity, attainment, background or disability. College leaders at Kemnal and the Trust have a very clear educational philosophy that is focused on the values we want all our students to acquire before taking their place in the adult world. We are a three-form entry primary school in the London Borough of Lewisham. We have a nursery with 18 full-time places and a further 32 part-time places for the morning and the afternoon. Rainbow ASD Resource Base is an integral part of the school and offers 16 places to pupils from across the borough with Autism.
