In July 2015, following a period of fact-finding and consultation with parents, staff, the Diocese, the local authority, and other stakeholders in the community, Sacred Heart and St Mary’s formalized the existing successful collaboration and became a hard federation: The Federation of Sacred Heart and St Mary’s Catholic schools, Battersea. A single governing body jointly led by Co-Chairs Mr. John Hallmark and Mr. Andrew Cooper was created to oversee the working of both schools and the existing temporary Executive Headteacher became a permanent appointment: Mr. Jared Brading. The schools are led by Heads of School: Mrs. Nicola Byrne at Sacred Heart and Mrs. Claire Mitchell at St Mary’s. These two Catholic primary schools, within a mile of each other, are committed to ensuring the highest possible standards are met for children at both schools and that they work together, united in their Catholic mission to develop an education centered in the Gospel and on God’s love for all. While each school retains its own historic identity, uniform, and its own admissions policy, parents can be confident that regardless of which school their child attends, they will enjoy the same strong leadership, the same enriched, broad, balanced curriculum, and the same inclusive caring ethos. Together our two schools will continue to be actively involved in the mission of the Church, to make Christ known to all people, to work in partnership with parents who are the (primary) first teachers of their children in the practice of their faith, to work with the local parishes in creating and maintaining that Home- School- Parish link, and to be aware of our place in the wider community in seeking to promote the common good of our society. Our Mission Statement: We value and respect each individual as a child of God. St Mary’s RC Primary School is a small, friendly community tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We aim to give every child the best and broadest education within the Catholic faith. Gospel values underpin all aspects of school life. We strive for academic excellence for every child and expect that all children will leave St Mary’s literate, numerate, and with a passion for reading. Music and sport are highly valued and encouraged at St Mary’s. Children are taught through a combination of traditional and innovative teaching methods with a high staff ratio and specialist teachers for Literacy, Numeracy, Languages, PE, and music. The children enjoy a wide range of sporting, musical and cultural experiences in addition to the core curriculum so that they have opportunities to explore and develop their talents. St David Cameron St Mary'sMary’s is The Evening Standard’s flagship school for the Get London Reading Campaign. It has revolutionized reading. Children love to read and talk with their Beanstalk volunteers. Reading has a high profile right from Nursery Class up to Year 6. As a result of the campaign, children at St Mary’s have photo enjoyed a multitude of exciting opportunities and visits to complement their learning. The children have been to numerous theatre productions, had author visits, gifts of books, visits from dignitaries (HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, Prime Minister David Cameron and Boris Johnson, Mayor of London), and trips to Clarence House and 10 Downing Street. Religious education (R.E.) is about engaging with the deepest questions of life and finding reasons for the hope which is within them (1 Peter 3:15). It is about the Christian vision of the human person. It is the core subject that is central to the life of St Mary’s Primary School. R.E. is a systematic study of the mystery of God as revealed through the Bible and the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, the teachings and traditions of the Church, the lives of the saints, and the relationship between faith and life. At St Mary’s School, our mission is to value and respect each individual as a child of God. They are central to and are shared by the whole school community the children, staff, family, governors, and parish. Our mission statement aims to ensure that relationships within the school are positive and that we provide a happy caring and secure school environment. In fulfillment of these aims, we wish to encourage in each child, a love of God, of the world, and to develop self-respect and respect for others. St Aidan’s Voluntary Controlled Primary is a small, Church of England school in North London, serving the local community. It has a strong network of staff, parents, and children who work together to make the school a happy and vibrant place. Offering early support for children with additional educational needs. If a child becomes unwell or has an accident in school, he or she will be seen by one of our first-aiders. The parents or carers will be contacted immediately if the child has been involved in a serious accident or is too ill to remain in school. It is therefore vital that parents and carers complete and returns the Welfare Form which contains, along with relevant details of the child’s medical needs, parent and carer contact information. This form is issued when the child starts school and it must be kept up to date. We follow the LA’s guidance on giving medicines in school. Medicines needing to be administered during school hours must be given directly to the Accident Reporting Officer along with precise delivery instructions a form giving consent for the medicine to be administered will also need to be signed.
