  1. In January 2014, Stanburn Primary School was formed as a result of the amalgamation of Stanburn First School and Stanburn Junior School. It is now a thriving and successful four-form entry school that will, by September 2017, have approximately 830 (4-11-year-old) pupils. Our children say that Stanburn is like a big family. It is a school where children feel safe to learn, safe to find their voice, and safe to grow. Children at our school feel confident to explore, be creative, think independently and develop their expertise across a wide range of curricular and extra-curricular areas – both in and outside of school. Take a walk around on a typical school day and you will see: Happily engaged pupils and busy bustling classrooms, with all pupils, actively learning A challenging, well-structured, and effective approach to teaching and learning with the capacity to adapt approaches in response to individual children’s learning needs Well-behaved, confident and courteous children who, through their spiritual, moral, social, and cultural awareness, show that they uphold positive values and can contribute proudly to our modern British society Healthy competition, teamwork, and charitable work encouraged through our well-developed house system A weekly celebration of individual, team, and school successes Children studying from the National Curriculum and beyond, sometimes learning through single subjects and sometimes in cross-curricular topic lessons Rich and stimulating learning that extends beyond the classroom including the field, the playground, the environmental areas, and outdoor areas around the classrooms, the local area, and beyond Technology and computing used to enhance learning taught both discretely and integrated within the whole school experience. Finally, and critically, children, parents, and carers are valued partners in everything the school does. You, together with staff and governors, are central in helping us make our motto ‘Belief Achieve Succeed – Learning without limits’ come alive every day for your children. A school community that works together with the common purpose of building confidence in all our children so that they set their sights high, achieve to the best of their ability, and try to succeed in all that they do. We strive for excellence and aim to inspire and challenge all our children to learn skills, develop passions and reach heights they could not imagine! Senior leaders have created a clear vision and direction for the school with a new set of values, ‘learning without limits.OFSTED, 2016 Alongside this, we have an ethos of inclusion and high expectations for all, and a strong commitment to the holistic care, nurture, and development of well-rounded pupils. We believe that happy children, who feel safe, are best placed to learn and to enjoy contributing to all aspects of school life. In this way, they are more likely to reach their full potential and be ready for the next stage of their lives. Avid readers, fluent writers Confident mathematicians Deep thinkers, developing depth as well as breadth Children, curious about real-world problems and how to solve them Flexible, creative thinkers Eloquent speakers The ethos at Stanburn reflects our commitment to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and dedication to achieving the Rights Respecting School Award. The culture of Stanburn’s practice and approach is based upon these values. Our vision of “Belief Achieve Succeed - Learning without limits” is a golden thread that runs through all that we do at Stanburn – no ceiling, no limiting judgments, and an emphasis on effort: that we all keep trying. We have been increasingly linking this to the importance of having a growth mindset - the belief that intelligence is not fixed and can be improved through a combination of effort and targeted support. Research has shown that when we have a growth mindset, we understand that intelligence or abilities can be developed, and instead of worrying about how clever we are or how good we are at something, we focus on improvement. We then work harder, learn more and get smarter or better at doing something. So many examples of this can be seen in action where the children’s positive attitudes, combined with hard work and perseverance, illustrate precisely the sort of values we aim to teach and cultivate at Stanbury. 3. At Stanborough, we are committed to providing the structure and support our students need to meet and surpass national academic targets. We are committed to working closely with our parents to ensure that all students internalize values, such as tolerance, accountability, and personal responsibility, that will empower them to become successful, honorable citizens of our global community. Are you looking for a school with a tradition of excellence, small class sizes, highly qualified teachers, and effective pastoral care? At Stanborough, we provide the structure and support each student needs to achieve academic success. As a result of this, our students consistently meet and surpass national averages at the GCSE level. We also provide numerous opportunities for students to cultivate the social skills that will empower them to interact well with members of the wider society. As a Christian school, Stanborough seeks to sensitize all students of the need to live a life that is pleasing in the eyes of God. British values such as honesty, tolerance, dedication, and respect are actively taught. Students are provided with multiple opportunities to internalize the values and attitudes that will empower them to achieve personal and academic success in our global community. When it was first founded in 1919, Stanborough School catered primarily to the children of overseas missionaries. This changed when the decision was made to offer a wider range of students access to the quality education provided at Stanborough. Since opening our doors in 1919, Stanborough has grown so much, that in 1974 the Primary School moved to a new facility. In 1990, the Primary School added an Early Learning Unit and in 1991, the construction of a new complex for the secondary and boarding school students was completed. Stanborough School is situated on the serene Stanborough Park in Watford. From its inception in 1919, the school administration has held firm to the principle that education is the harmonious development of the physical, mental, and spiritual powers. Stanborough still seeks to prepare its pupils for the joy of service in this world and for the higher joy of wider service in the world to come. Our curriculum is designed to provide young people with the core knowledge and cultural capital needed both for further academic study while enabling them to develop as citizens and engage effectively in the world beyond school. Our curriculum is designed to be balanced and rigorous, to maximize students’ knowledge, as well as their cognitive and personal development. We continually work to provide coherence within and across subjects, while also mapping the curriculum vertically from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4. Everything students learn in school, alongside the taught curriculum, is seen as part of the whole curriculum. This includes the approach to spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development, as well as the extra-curricular provision, which provides a significant ‘hidden curriculum’. Our pupils will learn to use the language of art. They will draw and paint in familiar and unfamiliar situations exploring new processes as well as the traditional materials and techniques. They will also enter fine art competitions. We offer the AQA GCSE Biology syllabus and new specifications which provide a range of lessons from Human biology, Plant biology, and environmental studies. In Business, students will learn the importance of Business and People, Marketing, Production and Finance, and the impact of the external environment on a business. They will develop their technical, numeracy, and literacy skills. They will learn subject terminology and be able to identify different types of business organizations. The topics taught for paper 1 include Atomic structure and the periodic table Bonding, structure, and the properties of matter Quantitative chemistry, Chemical changes and Energy changes, the rate and extent of chemical change Organic chemistry Chemical analysis, Chemistry of the atmosphere, and Using resources. Computer science is more than just gaming and working with computers. It is developing skills to solve problems it is allowing you to exploit your creativity it is helping you strengthen your analytical thinking skills it is preparing for the future. In EAL, it’s all about enabling learners to become proficient communicators in English, both in the everyday and academic spheres. Interactive activities are used to hone speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills empowering learners to deal with real situations and meaningful tasks. Our learners are inspired to become life-long lovers of the English language and language learning in general. The main goal of this curriculum is to guide students in the acquisition of solid technical accuracy in the English language, emphasizing the good use of grammar, coherence, and creativity. The English language focuses on developing core literacy skills: reading and writing for both fiction and non-fiction. Students will develop the ability to use and explore language in different contexts and for different purposes and audiences. It also includes some analysis of literary and media texts. Students will have opportunities to write creatively and demonstrate their ability to discuss different topics and make formal presentations. The curriculum, in English Literature, aims to create, build and sustain a love of books: novels, plays, and poetry, in students. Students will develop the ability to analyze plot, characters, themes, language, and structural devices, and context. They will study old and modern texts, learn subject terminology, make comparisons between literary works and develop their ability to identify literary terms and state their effects on the reader. “Master French through Learning”. Our vision is to develop strong, lifelong linguistic skills in our students which will enhance their vocational abilities and employability skills. All the learners will regard themselves as world citizens as they become proficient in the French language. We strive to develop an understanding of patterns and responses in the physical and human environments, climate change, and the sustainability of our planet, appreciate the fragility of our planet, and recognize their individual and collective roles as stewards. Pupils are trained in the skills needed in the study of history, learning to analyze effects from causes as they investigate periods, characters, and events from the past. The subject is packed with fascinating themes, ideas, and concepts, from William the Conqueror’s audacious assault on England, culminating in the epic Battle Hastings the philandering and murderous instincts of Henry VIII the Gunpowder Plot, directly leading to the Popish Recusants Act in 1605 to the Night of Long Knives under the Nazi dictatorship. At Stanborough, we have four operational greenhouses and we also do open field cultivation of crops such as tomatoes, beans, spinach, beetroot, and radishes. The school garden has helped students to develop a greater respect for food by showing them what it takes to grow and harvest even one vegetable. It encourages parent and community involvement as many parents and people around the community buy fresh organic produce from the school garden. We seek to support English learning for our Full Immersion Experience (FIE) students. In this class, we explore British History, Culture, and Values. This promotes an understanding of the British people, our cultural diversity, and how we relate with the rest of the world. We pride ourselves in providing our students with a curriculum that is designed to ensure the progress and development of mathematical skills they’ll need in life and their further education. We have collaboratively developed a skill-based scheme of work that promotes problem solving, resilience and ensure full curriculum coverage. Our educational philosophy aims for greater understanding and awareness of the functioning of our Human Body and the physiological basis of it, learning how to use it effectively, laying the foundations for improving our quality of life in the most holistic sense of the word, referring to the well-known axiom of "Mens Sana in corpore sana". The Physics topics we teach are Forces, Energy, Waves, Electricity, Magnetism and Electromagnetism, Particle Model of Matter, Radioactivity, and Space Physics. KS4 Religious Studies covers the OCR national curriculum. Our two study focuses are Christianity and Islam. We look in detail at their ethics, moral and philosophical points of view. Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the world, therefore in Stanborough Secondary School, we believe that learning Spanish will not only be useful to enhance communication with speakers of other languages, but it will also grant our students a valuable skill and it will help them in their future career-enhancing their employability. 5. Welcome to Stamford School, where we have been educating boys for over 475 years. Today, for our 700 pupils, we maintain our traditional values but with a very modern outlook. We seek to foster a sense of personal responsibility, service to the community, and leadership in every individual. In essence, it helps him to discover and develop the gifts which are already within him to their full potential. Our ambition is to inspire our boys not only to comprehend the world around them but also to go out to improve it. Inside of our classrooms, the highly prized qualities of collaboration, teamwork, and bringing out the best in others are right at the heart of a Stamford School education. MISSION STATEMENT: "Every child is a unique creation of God. We actively encourage each child to reach their full potential by developing the Catholic faith, where each child feels cherished for their unique personal worth. Working closely together, we want to inspire and nurture every child within a happy, secure and stimulating, inclusive environment". Our Catholic-centered learning environment offers a broad and balanced curriculum where every child can feel secure and confident. We place much emphasis on self-confidence and self-esteem, so we nurture each pupil to become independent learners and always ready to face new challenges. We aim to instill a lifelong genuine love of learning and aspiration for outstanding, personal achievement. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) applies to children from birth to the end of the Reception year. At St Peter and St Paul children can join the Early Years the September after they are three years old and join Reception in the September after their fourth birthday. St Peter and St Paul Early Years classes provide a happy and secure environment, with consistent routines, where the children can feel safe and explore rich and diverse learning opportunities. We aim to provide a sound foundation for lifelong learning, enabling the children to become increasingly independent and active learners for life. We look to provide play-based teaching and learning experiences, indoors and outdoors, of the highest quality to excite children about learning and help them to make progress in their skills and knowledge. The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is made up of Prime and Specific learning areas. PRIME AREAS: Communication and Language Physical Development Personal, social, and emotional development SPECIFIC AREAS: Literacy Maths Understanding the World Expressive Arts and Design Children begin to learn phonics (sounds) in the Early Years. Once children begin learning sounds, these sounds are used to read and spell words. Children can then see the purpose of learning sounds. Christ and his teachings are very much at the heart of all we do at St Peter and St Paul. Together with parents and parish, we seek to develop and nurture the Catholic faith of our children and bring them to a fuller understanding and knowledge of Catholic teaching and tradition. We aim to work in partnership with parents and seek ways in involving them in the religious life of their children by providing opportunities for them to engage in school life.

  21. St. Michael’s School was first established in 1923 and has been situated in Bryn since 1928. The school has a stable management history and its founders, the Rees brothers built its reputation of strong academic success. They retired and were replaced by the former head boy, Mr. Vaughan-Evans in 1962. The school continued to grow and thrive under his leadership then Mr. Daniel Sheehan took up the legacy in 1994-2012 and his emphasis remained on setting high standards. The Headmaster, Benson Ferrari, continues to promote and develop the culture of academic excellence we have seen at the school’s core since its foundation more than 85 years ago. St. Michael’s is a local school with a national reputation, consistently listed in the UK's top 100 Independent Schools for A-level results. We have regularly been placed first Co-Educational Independent School in Wales for GCSE results, at times achieving a remarkable 80% at grade A and A*. Almost all of our sixth form pupils go on to the universities of their choice and we have a long tradition of sending pupils to Oxford and Cambridge. Our pupils shine academically and we are proud of the learning environment we foster. It is one where gifted and talented students can be stretched, but also one which supports and encourages less able pupils and helps them flourish academically. We provide a learning environment where pupils excel – small class sizes, flexibility, a strong culture of discipline, and a positive work ethic. Five key characteristics of our ethos: One – An established heritage of academic excellence: Our GCSE & A-Level results are consistently outstanding, placing us very high in the national rankings. We seek to bring out the potential of every learner, actively looking for personalized strategies to enable everyone to harness their talents. Whilst many high-performing schools focus on making their statistics favorable first, ours are a natural result of genuine individual success, which is a product of excellent teaching and a motivational climate. Two – Small enough to care, but big enough to challenge and inspire: With several hundred pupils, there is a wide range of opportunities open to pupils, to forge valuable friendships which enable them to support one another and delight in learning. Everyone is focused on reaching their goals, resulting in a visible synergy in lessons and study periods. The staff knows pupils well and can provide excellent pastoral care, leading to our learners developing resilience, confidence, and strong self-esteem. Three – An international curriculum with a local emphasis: Our teaching staff plan and deliver a vibrant curriculum, selecting the best subject content and qualifications, combined with a rich variety of activities to develop pupils’ social, moral, spiritual, and cultural knowledge. We take full advantage of our beautiful coastal location and easy transport links to the rest of the UK, which affords us a broad choice of extracurricular options and trips, to take learning beyond the school environment. Four – A home from home: For those who board with us in one of our senior houses, students make St. Michael’s their home from home, studying effectively yet also enjoying our comfortable accommodation and leisure facilities. Our team of dedicated House Parents ensures that study time in the evenings is used wisely – it’s supervised, meaning that classroom learning during the school day is fully consolidated. Moreover, the staff is on hand to support students’ wellbeing and welfare at all times. Five – A family school: Our community is centered on mutual respect for one another, which means standards of conduct and behavior amongst our students are excellent. Family-style values permeate every aspect of school life. It results in a happy and safe environment where everyone can focus on their learning, whilst also building the foundations for future success, resulting in a memorable education with a long-lasting benefit. 23. St. Michael's is a Voluntary Aided three-form entry secondary grammar school for girls. It was established in 1908 and the Trusteeship is under the control of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Poor Child Jesus. It became a Voluntary Aided Grammar School in September 1958. St. Michael’s is a very special place, it is first and foremost a Catholic school the ethos implanted here by the Sisters of the Poor Child Jesus who founded this school and who remain as its trustees continue to this day. The trustees, governors, and staff remain committed to enabling our students to become the person God intended them to be supporting them to make sense of this complex world and to seek out their unique purpose in life. St Michael’s is a place of spiritual formation – we recognize that Jesus has taught us that we should “love one another as he loved us” – and this gives a focus to the pastoral support we offer our young people. The prime aim of the school is the formation of responsible and committed Catholic citizens. It seeks to encourage the highest standards in academic achievement, social responsibility, and personal development in a specifically Catholic environment. As a Catholic School, we aim to provide a Catholic education for all our pupils. At our School Catholic doctrine and practice permeate every aspect of the School’s activity. The Catholic character of the School’s education must be fully supported by all families in the School. All applicants are therefore expected to give their full, unreserved, and positive support for the aims and ethos of the School. It is a compact school comprising five adjacent buildings of widely contrasting styles the Sixth Form Centre is The Grange, an adapted 19th-century private house with a lawn and surrounded by trees to which a Resource Centre was added in 1999 the lower school, a stone building from the early 1900s the main School built in the 1950s the Sports Hall built-in 2008. St. Michael’s is also a place of intellectual exploration and achievement. This school is extraordinarily successful – this has been recognized by Ofsted on numerous occasions and every year our students achieve outstanding A-Level and GCSE results. Whilst the results are impressive – the true value of these results is what our students can do with them. For our students, their A-Level grades enable them to open doors to the most prestigious universities and courses. This school exists to enable its young people to move on to the next stage of life’s journey, equipped with the qualifications which will lead them to success, but also the skills and attitudes which will enrich their lives and enable them to take up positions of influence in our society – and so change it for the better. St Michael’s is a Catholic school in which Gospel values inform all aspects of community life. We are distinguished by the quality of education and care extended to all those in the school community. Each person is recognized as an individual and everybody is valued and enabled to fulfill their potential. 25. A very warm welcome to our school. It is a wonderful school where children have fun learning together. We are committed to ensuring our pupils develop into confident, independent life-long learners. We provide a warm, caring environment where we nurture the individual talents of our pupils. We offer an exciting creative curriculum to engage children in their learning, encouraging self-belief. Our Vision for St Michael in the Hamlet Community Primary School is to provide a welcoming, stimulating environment, where children can develop into confident, independent, lifelong learners. Provide a safe, secure, and stimulating learning environment. We will do this by Following rules for our safety. Supporting and encouraging everyone. Being good role models. Being creative. Trying new things and not be scared to be ambitious. Promote high standards of behavior. We will do this by: Having good manners at all times. Leading by example. Respecting others and our school. Being proud of our school and who we are. Encourage children in their learning and encourage self-belief. We will do this by Motivating each other and ourselves. Listening to people at all times. Being enthusiastic and happy. Going to bed early. Being positive. Having dreams and ambitions. Forest School at St Michael in the Hamlet offers a unique hands-on outdoor natural learning experience on our grounds that compliments both the school’s ethos and curriculum. We use a holistic approach in a natural woodland setting to focus on building positive personal attributes such as self-confidence, independence, and self-esteem enabling our children to become independent, innovative, and inspired learners. Our outdoor environment gives us a unique place that we use in a fun and challenging way, where learners may choose to follow a suggested activity or to pursue their ideas so they can further their development and practice new skills. Learners are offered the opportunity to work independently or with others use tools, make dens, explore, create, investigate and experience campfires. At St. Michael in the Hamlet Primary School, we believe that sport plays an important part as it contributes to the health and well-being of our children. Sporting excellence and participation, alongside strong cultural opportunities, go hand in hand with academic standards. Our school has achieved The National Sport England 'Gold Athletics Award' every year for the past 6 years which continues our proud record in this sport. In 2013/14 our Years 3 and 4 Indoor Athletics Squad became Liverpool Champions. At the same time, our Years 5 and 6 Indoor Athletics Squad also became Liverpool Champions. A Very successful season. Our St. Michael in the Hamlet Creative Curriculum works for hand in hand with the 2014 Primary National Curriculum. We teach through a carefully planned thematic approach, valuing a broad and balanced curriculum that gives children the opportunities to achieve their potential in all subject areas. We have designed our curriculum to build on children’s prior learning over time, linking key concepts across subjects as well as developing a breadth of subject knowledge. Topics are designed to support children’s natural curiosity and stimulate their creativity. Topics begin with a ‘hook’ or ‘opening event’ and finish with a ‘final celebration’. Trips and outings are central to the children’s learning. In addition to this, they will have a series of memorable learning experiences, which may include inspirational speakers, STEM workshops, LJMU dance students, global students, topic-themed days, and themed weeks. Some subjects may be taught discreetly, such as English and mathematics. Other subjects may be taught as part of a topic, for example, they may learn history alongside their geography, or science alongside their design technology. Where possible the links have been made from their topic work to maths and English to enable pupils to apply skills in different contexts. Our curriculum promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental, philosophical, and physical development of our pupils. The children experience these through a wide range of subjects and opportunities such as Physical Education (PE), Religious Education (RE), Philosophy for Children (P4C), Rights Respecting School Agenda (RRSA), mindfulness, forest school and personal, social health education (PHSSE). We are proud of our wider opportunities and the range of after-school clubs on offer, from magic to dodge ball to e-cadets. We end our academic year with a ‘summer festival’ to display our pupils’ creative talents celebrating our diverse array of wider opportunities such as singing, brass, drumming, and violin.
