Sydenham has a long tradition of educating girls, often pioneering innovation and development. We believe that creativity inspires, evokes learning, and enables students to make connections across subjects, between our school and other schools, as well as the local community and the wider world. Student achievement is at the center of all we do. Sydenham School is a STEM school – with strengths in Science and Mathematics and an additional focus on Technology and Engineering. Equally committed to the Arts, Humanities, and Languages, we provide a curriculum that is broad, exciting, and challenges students, across the full range of national expectations. By bringing together teaching programs, imaginative projects, events, and development opportunities, we aim to offer our girls the chance to see how the world and society could be different. We want our students to feel empowered to make their own decisions and to be confident and motivated to learn, perform and make things happen. To achieve this, we have a strong vision and the expectation of every student is high. We nurture each individual to help her explore her talents and make sure that she makes the most of all the opportunities available. When she leaves Sydenham, the young girl has become a young woman. We are the Sydenham School PTA – a group of parents who started meeting up during the year 2013, to talk about how our daughters were doing at school and how we could support the school further. Some of us have a long track record of being involved in previous PTAs. Others had never set foot in a PTA meeting before our daughters came to Sydenham School. So please do come and join us, whether you were involved at primary or not. Sydenham High School, GDST, is an independent day school for girls aged 4-18 years. The school was founded in 1887, becoming one of the last schools to be opened by the Girls’ Public Day School Trust. Set in the leafy suburbs of South East London, we pride ourselves on enriching young minds in a way that will endure a lifetime. The school’s original Anglo Saxon motto, ‘Nyle ye drede’, means ‘fear nothing’ and underpins all that we do.
