"Swakeleys School for Girls" is a school where high achieving, behavior, and discipline are good, we have a modern approach and promote values of tolerance and respect. It provides us with a unique opportunity to promote the enjoyment of learning and celebration of achievement in an uninhibited way. We offer girls an up-to-date curriculum which provides the opportunity for all of them to achieve the best academic results they are capable of. This is exemplified by our choice of the new ‘Science for the 21st Century’ GCSE. Our focus on high-quality teaching and learning helps us to ensure that lessons are engaging, interactive, and fun. Teachers challenge pupils to achieve aspirational levels and grades which are based on their potential. They use modern technology as a tool for learning and they adapt their teaching to meet the needs of all pupils, from those who are exceptionally able to those with learning difficulties. We take pride in our high standards of behavior and our behavior policy can be viewed here. Many other policies are available on request. Those that may be of particular interest to parents include Assessment Policy, Health and Safety Policy, Anti-Bullying Policy, Child Protection Policy, Single Equality Scheme, Charging Policy, Collective Worship, Sex and Relationships, and School Visits Policy. We are a high-achieving school that focuses on excellent teaching and learning and high standards of behavior. All girls are given opportunities to develop their interests and talents in a wide variety of extracurricular activities and above all, they are safe and secure. We want to get the best from every girl, raising standards even higher whilst maintaining the caring ethos of Swakeleys. We encourage our pupils to take responsibility, to make a valuable contribution to the running of the school, and to become respected members of our community. We aim to: Create a school community based on equal opportunities in which each individual is valued, and where learning will thrive so that girls will gain a sense of achievement from the learning process. Provide a challenging and stimulating environment that will enable every girl to achieve the highest level of skills, knowledge, and qualifications of which she is capable. Teach self-discipline and a sense of responsibility to self and others and foster a commitment to excellence. Widen the horizons of all our students, to make them aware of the rich cultural diversity of our society, and to prepare them for the wide variety of roles open to women in today’s world. Foster close links with the local community and be flexible as an institution to evaluate and respond to new initiatives, both from inside and outside the school. A “School offer” is the provision made for pupils who may require additional help or support. This may include pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. It may also include pupils who require additional support to fulfill their academic potential. Swakeleys School values the diversity of its student population and strives to meet the needs of all learners. The staff within the learning support and extension department work to support students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN), English as an Students with SEN or EAL are supported in a variety of ways by the subject teachers and the learning support and extension department. Students may be supported in small group settings outside the class, they may receive in-class support or they may receive support from an outside agency such as an educational psychologist. G&T students are supported in class by extension activities which are designed to broaden and deepen their understanding or knowledge of a subject and out of class with extracurricular clubs and events. Our building is accessible to a range of disabilities, being largely on the ground floor. We have a lift where the building extends to the first floor.
