Zagazig University is one of the Egyptian universities that was established to contribute side-by-side with its counterparts in Egypt's renaissance and to raise its position. The University started as a branch of Ain Shams University in the academic year 1969/1970. Zagazig University is the seventh University in Egypt in terms of its inception. The University has made great strides in all areas, keeping up with the modern age. The University has chosen the image of the great national leader / Ahmed Orabi, son of Sharqi, as its slogan. He stood lofty in front of the brutal colonization calling for the freedom of our dear Egypt. Law No. 18 was issued on 14/4/1974 to establish Zagazig University, which was composed of six colleges as a branch of Ain Shams University. Those are the colleges of agriculture, trade, veterinary medicine, human medicine, education, and science.
The University plans in the future expansions to have a branch in the 10th of Ramadan City to ensure the maintenance of the green areas and to serve the community of businessmen and the growth of the industrial activities in that city. The University is also planning in the future expansions to have a Center for Graduate Studies and Research in Oboor City to activate and develop the Graduate Studies and Research and serve the industry and the society in the new cities.
Zagazig University seeks since its establishment in 1974, over forty years to become one of the most significant regional universities that actively participate in the comprehensive national development. In the light of political, social, economic changes and technological revolution that we witness nowadays, we are confidently stepping towards new horizons for our future. The crucial question here is how to draw our road map together to the future? In such changes, all universities worldwide seek to contribute to the development of their communities in various fields of life. Zagazig University seeks to fulfill this commitment in the light of the current global competitive environment to create a rich and supportive climate for students and researchers to graduate distinguished graduates who can compete in labor markets to be distinguished citizens who share in the development of their country. To achieve these, Zagazig University steadily undertakes immediate steps to modernize and develop its infrastructure, academic and research programs, and administrative systems as an integrated system including faculty members, their assistants, and administrative staff acting as a beacon of knowledge, a producer of ideas and a source of innovation in conformity with international standards of quality and accreditation.
Zagazig University is looking forward to becoming an accredited and proven university by providing an unparalleled education, scientific research, and sustainable community development. The mission of Zagazig University is to become an Egyptian Public University that provides outstanding education and academic and developmental leading researches as well as a unique community service and continuous development of its human resources in the context of innovation, quality, independence, and moral values.
