About Me

  1. Pleasant Street Primary School pledges itself to be a place where uniqueness is celebrated and all individuals will find safety and respect for themselves, their families, and their way of life. We are a happy and diverse school in Liverpool City Centre, with a dedicated and hard-working team focused on providing a high-class education for pupils. Learning together, we respect each other’s values and traditions. We strive to create an inclusive and safe environment that guides and stimulates our children to achieve through enjoyment. At Pleasant Street, our mission statement underpins both our curriculum and our wider school ethos. This includes the importance we place on mutual respect, appreciation, and celebration of diversity in all its forms, whilst ensuring pupils learn both the British as well as human values which we as a school are committed to. Both are taught and a wider curriculum provides opportunities to teach children about the privileges of British society, including free speech and democracy, as well as British law which protects the rights of all our citizens to be safe, listened to, and to be treated equally with respect. We have devised our curriculum which we feel helps our children develop a knowledge and understanding of the world and our locality. We have planned topics to engage children’s interest and curiosity, whilst ensuring full coverage of the new National Curriculum. At Pleasant Street Primary School, we believe that literacy and communication are key life skills. Through the English curriculum, we will help children develop the skills and knowledge that will enable them to communicate effectively and creatively through spoken and written language and equip them with the skills to become lifelong learners. We want children to enjoy and appreciate literature and its rich variety. We have included information on reading and phonics in a separate section. By the time children leave our school, we expect them to be able to communicate effectively and confidently through speaking and listening, reading, and writing. We want every child to take pleasure in reading across a range of genres and have a strong motivation to read for a variety of purposes. “Every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfill their potential. A child’s experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe, and happy childhood is important in its own right, and it provides the foundation for children to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.” At Pleasant Street Primary School we recognize that every child is a competent learner who can be resilient, capable, confident, and self-assured. We recognize that children develop in individual ways, at varying rates. Children’s attitudes and dispositions to learning are influenced by feedback from others we use praise and encouragement, as well as celebration and rewards, to encourage children to develop a positive attitude to learning. At Pleasant Street, we recognize that children learn to be strong and independent from secure relationships. We aim to develop caring, respectful, professional relationships with the children and their families. All areas of Learning and Development are important and interconnected. These areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. The indoor and outdoor learning environments are organized to allow children to explore and learn securely and safely. There are areas where the children can be active, or be quiet and rest. Both Nursery and Reception are set up in learning areas, where children can find activities, equipment, and resources independently. The provision in these areas includes familiar and continuously accessible activities and resources, as well as activities that are varied and enhanced to fit in with current themes and learning needs. Each day is composed of playing and learning through a balance of teaching, adult-led activities, and child-initiated time.
  2. Our school is located on John Dillon Street in Dublin 8 and it is a school for boys from 2nd to 6th class. We are a Catholic school that is genuinely child-centered with an ethos that fosters trust, mutual respect, and self-directed learning. Empathy, creativity, leadership, and teamwork permeate our school day based on the values of trust, responsibility, kindness, and honesty. We believe that learning should be active and creative. We encourage our students to embrace challenges and celebrate success. We have clear values and aim to develop well-rounded independent children, preparing them for future careers by providing positive learning experiences. We believe in the pedagogy of social justice and embody an empathy-based methodology curriculum and believe that children should be empowered to live for a 'common good. To facilitate this we believe in a holistic curriculum for the wellbeing of our students within their community. There is a strong community feel in our school with wonderful parents, pupils, and educators. We encourage students to be confident and articulate communicators, to think for themselves as global citizens with developing awareness of the broad social and ecological issues. We empower our students as changemakers with the capacity to make a positive difference in their school, community, and world. Education aims to enable students to understand the world around them and the talents within them so that they can become fulfilled individuals and active, compassionate citizens". We want our school to transform the lives of our children, inspiring them to make a positive contribution to society. We insist on excellence and continually strive to inspire a culture of curiosity through an empowering and innovative curriculum. We aim as a school to provide a safe and welcoming environment that fosters inclusion and diversity.
  3. We are a warm and welcoming primary school in the heart of Dublin 7. We cater for boys and girls from Junior Infants to 1st class and girls only from 2nd to 6th class. There are over 300 pupils in our school. We promote a caring and holistic approach to education, focusing on the development of the full potential of each pupil. On the 1st of September 2014, we opened the doors to our fabulous new school building. That morning the excitement and heartfelt buzz could be felt amongst pupils, parents, and staff alike. It was a great day for the community. Therefore, to say we are proud of our new school is an understatement! Throughout the school, we have state-of-the-art facilities to offer to our pupils and the local community. The fantastic facilities in our school give each child the best opportunity to reach their potential and thrive in a safe, warm, happy environment. The school was opened by the Religious Sisters of Charity on 2nd October 1867. It is situated on Manor Street in the Parish of the Holy Family, Aughrim Street, Dublin 7. Mary Aikenhead, who founded the Congregation in 1815 to respond to the needs of the time, lived in the original convent in Stanhope Street from 1819 to 1826. Although the school has a Catholic ethos, it welcomes pupils of all faiths and none. It is a friendly, hospitable place where pupils, staff, and parents experience a sense of belonging. The original school building which dates back to 1867, was demolished in March 2010. On 1st May 2013, work began on the new school building, and on 1st September 2014, the new school was ready to open its doors to staff and pupils.
  4. When you come to visit our campus, you will see classrooms alive with purpose. Through conversation, collaboration, and hands-on engagement with materials, ideas, and people, Bank Street students of all ages learn how to make meaning of the world around them, build the courage and confidence to think independently, and become thoughtful problem-solvers who work respectfully with others. Now, more than ever, teaching and learning are of vital importance in our society. New advances in neuroscience show that progressive approaches to education like Bank Street's are critical to healthy development and learning. Our success is rooted in a deep understanding of how children and adults learn best, the strength of the relationships we form with each other, and the abiding commitment that this inspires across our community to help transform all young learners' lives. In the words of Bank Street founder Lucy Sprague Mitchell, "we see in education the opportunity to build a better society." The mission of Bank Street College is to improve the education of children and their teachers by applying to the education process all available knowledge about learning and growth and by connecting teaching and learning meaningfully to the outside world. In so doing, we seek to strengthen individuals and the community as well, including family, school, and the larger society in which adults and children, in all their diversity, interact and learn. We see in education the opportunity to build a better society. For more than a century, Bank Street College has led the charge to place students' needs at the center of practice and policy in the field of education. Since our beginnings in 1916, Bank Street has been at the forefront of understanding how children learn and grow. From schools and museums to early childhood centers and hospital settings, Bank Street has built its reputation on the simple fact that our graduates, educators, and leaders know how to do the good work for children. Today, Bank Street is an innovator in improving the quality of classroom practice and a national advocate for children, families, and the system and policy changes that bring effective and equitable teaching to all. At the Graduate School of Education, our teacher and leader preparation programs combine the study of human development, learning theory, and sustained clinical practice to produce well-prepared educators ready to help students flourish. Our Children's Programs for children from birth to high school graduation foster all facets of human intelligence—academic, social, and emotional—so students can thrive in school and succeed in life. In the Bank Street Education Center, we support and influence positive learning outcomes for students, educators, and communities every day nationwide through research, direct work with schools and communities, and strategic partnerships. Bank Street's approach to teaching and learning is widely recognized as the gold standard in progressive education. Bank Street's rich historical and philosophical commitment to progressive education is evident in our approach to both children's and adults' teaching and learning. The Bank Street approach, known as the developmental-interaction approach, recognizes that all individuals learn best when actively engaged with materials, ideas, and people. Authentic growth requires diverse and nurturing opportunities for ongoing social, emotional, and cognitive development. At Bank Street, we view teachers and leaders as facilitators of learning. Therefore, we believe it is the educator's role to meet students "where they are" to help them develop and realize their unique potential. By combining a deep understanding of human development and educational theory with a disciplined approach to observation and reflection, Bank Street educators provide students with meaningful learning opportunities best suited for their learning and growth. Through this approach, students develop in the broadest sense: They learn to understand themselves more deeply and to make meaning of the world around them. They build the courage and confidence to think independently and creatively. They develop the skills to work respectfully and collaboratively with others. Our educators encourage students to be curious, love learning, be respectful, embrace human differences, and engage with the world around them to prepare them to lead lives of consequence. Through thoughtful engagement with teachers, peers, and their environments, Bank Street students build vital critical thinking and the academic and professional skills they will need to thrive in school settings and life. As progressive educators, we are deeply committed to strengthening the learning of both the individual and the community, including schools, caregivers, families, and the larger society in which all adults and children interact and learn. Through our work, Bank Street partners with local communities to support strengths-based, learner-centered, and equitable education practices that help influence all students' and educators' positive learning outcomes. Bank Street's progressive approach to education proudly provides students, educators, and communities with a foundation for transforming our world in big and small ways. Social justice, advocacy, and building an inclusive community are at the core of our work. Every day, we challenge ourselves and our students to grow from the opportunities and hurdles inherent in working and learning together. In the words of Bank Street founder Lucy Sprague Mitchell, "we see in education the opportunity to build a better society."

  7. As the school moves forward on the Journey to Excellence, we aim to develop the ‘whole child. We strive to ensure that pupils have a positive and fulfilling educational experience at Lorne Street Primary, which helps them to develop lifelong learning skills as well as preparing them for the world of work. We believe it is essential to build a strong home-school partnership, and welcome parental involvement and support in all aspects of school life. Throughout the school session, there will be many opportunities for parents to get involved. We look forward to working with you closely, to help ensure that all children at Lorne Street Primary reach their full potential. We hope that you find the website a helpful method for the school to communicate with parents/carers. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school. Curriculum for Excellence is being implemented for 3-18-year-olds. It aims to raise standards, prepare our children for a future they do not yet know, and equip them for the jobs of tomorrow in a fast-changing world. Curriculum for Excellence enables professionals to teach subjects creatively, to work together across the school and with other schools, to share best practices, and explore learning together. Teachers and practitioners will share information to plan a child’s “learning journey” from 3-18, helping their progression from nursery to primary, primary to secondary, and beyond, ensuring the change is smooth. They’ll ensure children continue to work at a pace they can cope with and with a challenge they can thrive on. Curriculum for Excellence balances the importance of knowledge and skills. Every child is entitled to a broad and deep general education, whatever their level and ability. It develops skills for learning, life, and work to help young people go on to further study secure work, and navigate life. It brings real life into the classroom, making learning relevant and helps young people apply lessons to their life beyond the classroom. It links knowledge in one subject area to another helping children understand the world and make connections. It develops skills so that children can think for themselves, make sound judgments, challenge, enquire and find solutions. There’s personal support to help young people fulfill their potential and make the most of their opportunities with additional support wherever that’s needed. There will be an emphasis by all staff on looking after our children’s health and wellbeing – to ensure that a school is a place where children feel safe and secure. Ultimately, Curriculum for Excellence aims is to improve our children’s life chances, to nurture successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors, and responsible citizens, building on Scotland’s reputation for a great education.
  8. Welcome to Green Street Green Primary School. On behalf of the children, staff, and governors at Green Street Green Primary School, I would like to welcome you to our school website. Green Street Green Primary School is a place where we aim to create passionate and successful lifelong learners equipped for their future journey. This will be achieved by having an inspirational, dedicated, and skillful team of staff and governors. By providing an engaging and creative curriculum that excites our children, and by promoting excellent behavior through our Golden Rules, we aim to enthuse in all our children a desire to learn, as well as care for and respect each other. The link between home and school is integral to your child’s success and we encourage parents to take an active part in their child's learning. We see parents as partners in the education of their children, and greatly value their contribution to school life. Children thrive when they feel happy, safe, and respected. Whatever the needs of your child or special interests they have, we aim to ensure your child thrives at Green Street Green Primary School. We want the children here to have memorable experiences, build on what they know and can do, and help them to become confident, life-long learners. We are one of two Specialist Speech and Language provisions in Bromley, for children who have Speech and Language Disorder. The other is located at Raglan Primary School. We have been in existence for over twenty years, during which time 168 children have been through our doors. We are very successful at returning pupils to mainstream schools, often after as little as two years. That is why we like to call ourselves an “Intervention” rather than a “Placement”. We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website and that you find the information you are looking for. Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. ‘To be an inspirational, dedicated and skillful team, to create passionate and successful lifelong learners equipped for their future journey’ Our vision statement was devised following input for children, staff, parents, and governors. It summarises what Green Street Green Primary is about. Our values are what we feel are important to deliver our vision. These are our four ‘E’s: Encourage, Excite, Experience, Excel. Successful learning is about exciting interests, giving children a wide variety of experiences, providing encouragement to face any challenge, and the opportunity to excel in all areas. In the entrance hall of our school is our values tree which will give you examples of how our values are put into practice across the school. At Green Street Green Primary school we are extremely proud of our children's achievement. High Expectations and staff who are all dedicated to providing a stimulating, exciting environment where everyone feels valued and can learn, ensures that our children achieve well. Children’s Language will be within the expected range in most aspects. The barrier to learning will be overcome so that children can access classroom learning with moderate support. Children will leave Green Street Green Speech and Language Disorder Classes: Children can use strategies independently to help them cope with their speech, language, and communication needs and be able to communicate effectively. Children’s self-esteem will be raised and they will be confident in socializing both in and out of school. We aim to provide an exciting, multi-sensory, language-rich environment where children can experience the curriculum through a range of different practical activities. We use a ‘topic-based approach to many subject areas to enhance this, basing each topic around our Talk For Writing Books. We offer small group, specialist teaching, and intensive speech and language therapy within lessons and also as group work. We have four part-time teachers and a similar number of Specialist Support Assistants. The teamwork collaboratively with the children so that each child benefits from a range of different teaching styles and approaches to the curriculum. Children will be taught by all members of staff at some stage during each week.

We work in partnership with parents/carers and the wider community to ensure the success of our children. We believe that children deserve the best possible chances in life and that they learn best when there are strong links between home and school. Our children are encouraged to explore, discover and question through a range of exciting learning opportunities both within and outside the classroom. The staff endeavor to provide a calm and stimulating environment where good behavior and mutual respect are modeled by everyone and where everyone is valued. Our Mission is to create and sustain a caring and supportive community, dedicated to providing education of a very high standard where all children, staff, parents, and governors work together and feel valued. Our Nursery is available for children who are 3 years old. We ask that you apply for a place for your child when they are 2 years old by completing and returning the nursery waiting list form. This form must be completed and returned to Manchester City Council before the specified deadline. This form must be completed even if your child attends our Nursery, failure to do so could result in your child not being allocated a Reception place at our school. At Chapel Street Primary School we believe that all children are entitled to a rich, broad, and balanced curriculum, which will enable all children to reach their full potential and develop personally, socially, academically, spiritually, morally, and aesthetically. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum ‘Development Matters’ as this is a statutory framework that sets out a broad range of knowledge and skills to develop the children’s learning in the Foundation Stage. The children will be learning skills, knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through the seven areas of learning and development. The Early Years curriculum at Chapel Street is designed to be flexible so that staff can follow and cater to your child's unique needs and interests. Children in the EYFS learn through playing and exploring, being active and inquisitive, and developing their creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside. We consider ourselves partners in your child’s learning. The activities that you do with your child at home are essential in supporting their learning and development and are critical to your child’s learning as they progress through school. For example, talking, listening, reading, singing nursery rhymes, cooking and baking, or playing outside with them. All children will complete the EYFS profile by the end of Reception as part of the statutory end of key stage assessment. Staff who work with the children carry out ongoing assessments and observations and use this to fill in the profile and report the outcomes. We have high expectations of our children and support all individuals to reach their potential. In Reception, our learning is developed through topics that are developed through the children’s interests and understanding. With key learning objectives and questions that nurture their language, thinking, reasoning and understanding in all areas. At Chapel Street Primary School we believe our well-embedded SMCS curriculum prepares our children well for life in modern Britain. We realize the personal development of our children is essential for them to reach their full potential. The SMSC development of all pupils is therefore at the heart of our ethos. E-Safety is a safeguarding issue, not an ICT issue and all members of the school community have a duty to be aware of e-safety at all times, to know the required procedures, and to act on them. The school must ensure that every child and young person in its care is safe. The same ‘staying safe’ outcomes and principles outlined in the Every Child Matters agenda apply equally to the ‘virtual’ or digital world. This expectation also applies to any voluntary, statutory, and community organizations that make use of the school’s ICT facilities and digital technologies. All staff has a responsibility to support e-Safe practices in school and all pupils need to understand their responsibilities in the event of deliberate attempts to breach e-safety protocols. Pupil Premium is funding allocated to schools to boost the attainment of pupils from low-income families. It is intended to enable schools to provide targeted support to help children reach their full potential. Funding is allocated for children who are looked after by the Local authority and for every child which is registered for Free School Meals. It is really important to make sure that all children who qualify are registered for Free School Meals. Registering is the only way to ensure the school receives the Pupil Premium funding to spend on your child, even if you choose to send a packed lunch or your child already has a free lunch as they are in either Reception, Year 1, or Year 2.
  10. Annette Street Primary is at the heart of the local community it serves. We work hard to create a safe, happy, welcoming, and positive ethos where our children can learn together. We aim to work in partnership with you in the important task of developing your child to his/her full potential and our school places a strong emphasis on tailoring the curriculum to meet every child's needs. We are keen to have your fullest support in encouraging your child to work hard and behave well. If you are concerned about your child please come and tell us. We would like to welcome new children and their parents to the school and hope they will enjoy their time at Annette Street Primary. We look forward to seeing all of the children and parents who are already with us return for another exciting year. Throughout the year we will organize many events where we can meet and get to know you, and so the children can demonstrate what they are learning. Last year we learned about the importance of being healthy and learned about how food and exercise are very important in maintaining this. This year our whole school topic will be about traveling and we are looking forward to the children sharing stories of their families experiences. Once again it is shaping up into a busy year. Our Primary 7 pupils have been swimming since the start of the new year, with many now able to swim. We have placed literacy, play, and science high on our agenda this year so there will be many exciting opportunities for our pupils to develop skills in all areas. To encourage friendships, we have established Paths Pals in the playground. This means that a group of our senior children has been trained to include any child they think may not have someone to play with in playground games. So far this is very successful. We have Jeely Piece coming in once a week to develop outdoor learning with our P4 and P5 classes. We are working hard to tidy up our garden as well as getting involved in community gardening in the local area. Community clean-ups have started and our children take pride in keeping it tidy. We want to thank our volunteers in VTO and The Daisy Chain Club who provide homework after school clubs on a Monday and Tuesday. The children enjoy these clubs and benefit greatly from the additional support in their learning. We also want to thank our staff who put on after-school clubs which cover badminton, running, dancing and cycling. Big Noise Govanhill continues to work within our school and now works with all classes up to and including Primary 6. Big Noise comes in regularly throughout the year to play to the parents and children and add to the creative atmosphere of our school. Our Attainment Challenge is now firmly underway and Mrs. Gillespie has invited parents to her Cook Book Club which runs on a Monday afternoon. She will ensure that different parents get the opportunity to attend throughout the year. Our Golden Rules: We use kind words. We are honest. We have good manners. We are friendly and gentle. We respect each other. We respect the property and the environment. We look, we listen and we learn. We wear our school uniforms. Curriculum for Excellence aims to achieve a transformation in education in Scotland by providing a coherent, more flexible, and enriched curriculum from 3 to 18. A Curriculum for Excellence is not only about what children are learning, it is about new ways of teaching and learning, with more emphasis on skills for learning, work, and life. The aims of Curriculum for Excellence are that children become: confident individuals successful learners responsible citizens effective contributors.
  11. It is exhilarating to be leading Grammar at this time, and a genuine privilege to be entrusted with the education of some of the brightest and most impressive young men in the country. Grammar is a thriving, motivating, and purposeful place built on an ethos that draws significantly on the Western European Enlightenment'sEnlightenment's enduring values. While an impressively notable feature of the school'sschool's reputation, examination success is just part of the picture of a busboy's intellectual, physical, and social development throughout his time at Grammar. Indeed, a love of learning and a passion for the past's greatness, the dynamism of the present, and the opportunities of the future remain essential to the boys' daily lives. Furthermore, an astonishing range and depth of opportunities exist beyond the classroom, be these in Music, Sport, Debating, Drama, and so much more. Our nurturing of each individual boy'sboy's talents to his fulfillment is such that there is no typical Grammar boy. Our boys have in common that they emerge from Grammar as articulate, confident individuals with a strong sense of their places in society, ready for university and the wider world. Interestingly, the minutes from an early Trustees'Trustees' meeting asserted that the school'sschool's object would be "that it furnishes a superior general, not a professional education its object is not to prepare its scholars for any determinate occupation but to communicate such information, and such intellectual training, as may best assist them in the subsequent acquisition of special knowledge, and the efficient discharge of their social and public duties." Given the inevitably changing nature of what will be considered professions in the years to come, it will be essential for our young men to have a pure academic grounding in order to be in a position to choose their path in the future. Thus, we remain true to our Trustees'Trustees' historical vision and practical, contemporary purpose. The modern College Street has around eleven hundred boys, St Ives over four hundred, and Edgecliff three hundred. Our boys now proceed from the school to a variety of Universities in New South Wales and beyond. However, the primary purpose of Grammar as set out in the Act to confer on all classes and denominations of Her Majesty'sMajesty's subjects resident in the Colony of New South Wales, without any distinction whatsoever, the advantages of a regular and liberal course of education'' – remains the same. 12. Creek Street Christian College has been established to provide families with a Christian education within a caring and disciplined environment that will enable children to fully develop their God-given talents and academic abilities to contribute effectively to the changing society of which they are apart. The College encourages and supports students to develop a positive and wholesome outlook on life, become self-disciplined people, and be responsible and caring community members. The College Motto: 'Seek Truth: Love Mercy' is based on the scripture in Proverbs 3:1-4 (NKJ) 'My Son do not forget my law But let your heart keep my commands For the length of days and long life And peace they will add to you Let not mercy and truth forsake you Bind them around your neck write them on the tables of your heart And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man.' Our motto has two main challenges. Firstly, to seek out and know the Truth. The Bible says that Jesus is the way, the Truth, and the life and was our example of someone who lived according to God's Truth (His Word and Ways). Christians acknowledge this is not an easy task, but it is possible to accept the challenge and live by it with God's help. Secondly, in understanding Truth, we acknowledge that God is merciful and always forgives those who ask. The Bible says that because God has forgiven us and always forgives us, we should be the same in our treatment toward other people. Our College, founded in 1981, seeks to provide a high standard of Christian education for our city's families and beyond. Over time our school has continued to grow and expand so that we now have over 270 students in classes from prep to year 10. With our school contained on one campus, this offers unique opportunities for the various year levels to support one another and for students to participate in a school complete learning activities. At the Junior School level, prep to year 4, a strong emphasis is placed on literacy and numeracy. Parents are regularly kept informed of their children's progress in these critical subjects through term and semester reports and student record folders. Christian teachers provide a positive and encouraging environment to learn, and all students are encouraged to give their best. Individual learning styles, levels of ability, and interests are catered for through various teaching methods, including various thinking tools, individual and group work, explicit teaching, interactive whiteboards, iPads, and computer labs. Handwriting and times tables remain critical foundational life skills, and their value is reinforced throughout the school. As students move into the Middle School, year 5 to year 7, they are gradually introduced to a broader range of subjects and a larger number of different teachers while maintaining a strong college commitment to the further development of their literacy and numeracy skills. A one-to-one iPad program is introduced at the year 7 level, thus building on the curriculum's already varied delivery. Moving into our Senior School, at year 8, students participate in a growing range of subjects with the introduction of our Electives program. This program, which seeks to lead students into their chosen career paths or give them a taste of the possibilities, continues to expand their learning opportunities further in years 9 and 10. These subjects added to core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, History, and Geography, Health, and Sport, including the options of VCE Mathematics, Cabinet Making, Food Technology, Performing Arts, Automotive Technology, Digital Photography, Visual Arts, Design and Technology, Extension Science (Chemistry and Physics), Outdoor Recreation, VET Certificate II Sporting Pathway Program, French, Small Business Enterprise, VET Information, Digital Media and Technology, and VET Community Service. We believe that the opportunities we present to the students will form a strong foundation for the remainder of their lives, regardless of their future paths. It is exciting to watch them as they grow and develop in a Christ-centred environment. Central to the College's vision is the desire to see our students develop their God-given gifts and abilities so they are equipped to impact their community, our nation, and the world for the Lord Jesus Christ. We desire to help students DISCOVER that all God made them be. Creek Street Christian College has proven itself over many years to be a school where young people can be encouraged to develop in all areas of their lives. This includes their academic, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Affirmation of this strong standing within the community is found in the ex-students who now send their children to Creek Street. Established school culture and school history with continued stability of staff and governance plus is a firm foundation on which to build the next exciting part of the Creek Street Christian College journey. While important boundaries are recognized and respected within the Kerry Street community, we above all encourage an atmosphere of openness, freedom, and choice. 18. Welcome to Gwladys Street Primary and Nursery School. We are a large, friendly two-form entry Primary School situated in the Walton area of Liverpool. Vision Statement: "To provide the stepping stones for a successful future and fulfilling future with the Gwladys Street Family, celebrating generations of success". We want our school to be one: where everyone has access to an engaging, creative and challenging curriculum that promotes a love of learning. Where everyone feels safe, happy, and secure in our learning community. Where everyone works in partnership with the wider school community. Where Golden Opportunities are provided in an Inclusive Setting. Where everyone respects each other and works as a team to achieve our GOALS. Where children develop lively, enquiring minds, self-confidence, and independence. Which promotes a healthy lifestyle and positive, spiritual, and moral values. Gwladys Street C P and N School were visited by an assessor for the renewal of the Basic Skills Quality Mark. The assessor held discussions with the Headteacher, Deputy Head, Maths and English Subject leads a school governor, and a group of pupils. The assessor toured the school and was particularly impressed by Active Maths and the high standards the school is reaching. She was able to look at the school's assessment systems and a sample of children's books. We were very impressed by the group of pupils who spoke to the assessor as they were able to talk about how they use their maths skills in other areas of the curriculum and transferring their writing skills. Well done to all involved. The School currently holds Basic Skills Quality Mark, Liverpool Healthy Schools Award, Science Quality Schools Award - Gold, Liverpool PE Award - Silver, Reading Quality Mark - Gold, Sainsbury's School Games Award - Silver, Wildlife Trust - Wildlife Friendly Garden Award - Gold, Liverpool Maths Counts Quality Mark - Silver, RHS - School Gardening Campaign - Level 3, The Big Wildlife Garden - Green Award, Woodland Trust - Silver, Liverpool Echo - Highly Recommended. At Gwladys Street in years 1 to 6, we follow the Liverpool Local Authority plans which are linked to the New National Curriculum. The year groups have Block units to teach the skills of the National Curriculum through different genres for each year group. Each unit builds up children's speaking and listening skills, reading and comprehension skills, and composition skills through the teaching sequence of: Immersion Analysis Writing Children have the opportunity to embed their skills through Science and the International Primary Curriculum on an afternoon by reading and writing different text types. Learning about other cultures and religions is an important part of our development. We are fortunate to have a variety of different faiths and beliefs in our school. In RE this year, we are learning about Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Sikhism. We follow the Liverpool SACRE scheme. In RE, we do not just learn about religious practices and traditions, but also think about what part we play in our world and society. This gives us a great opportunity to be reflective. During the Summer Term, the Nursery is taking part in an exciting project called ‘Building a Bridge of Books.’ The project will run for 6 weeks with each session lasting around 3 hours. It allows parents and children to come into school and work together with me to build an early love of reading. The overall aim of the ‘Building a Bridge of Books’ project is to encourage and foster a love of books in young children. By taking part in this project, parents and carers are supporting their child’s development of early reading skills, including speaking and listening. It will also help to develop and expand children's skills within other areas of learning including Personal, Social, and Emotional Development and Expressive Arts and Design.

  23. View full school

View full school
