  2. The magnificent building of the main school Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) stands in a prime location overlooking the Ruwi Valley and the Central Business District. His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said generously donated this piece of land for the school. The Sultanate of Oman under the benign and visionary leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said has always helped the school and provided it with every opportunity to progress and prosper. Pakistan school Muscat was established in a rented flat in Muscat in 1975, as a result of a decision made in the first meeting of the Pakistani Culture Centre. The school was shifted to its present spacious campus in February 1981. The first batch of students appeared for SSC and H.S.S.C examinations in 1983 and 1985 respectively. The year 1986 saw the construction of a mosque on the school campus and also witnessed the establishment of science laboratories. The school library was established in 1993 and the Junior Block was added to the school building in 2004 with an extension of 16 more rooms in 2011. Pakistan School Muscat has evolved its repute as an international institute by providing education to more than 15 expatriate communities residing in the Sultanate. With its four branches at Musanna, Nizwa, Salalah, and Sohar, Pakistan School Muscat is striving hard for excellence in all fields of knowledge and learning, by providing the best possible facilities to teachers and the taught through the optimum utilization of the available resources. The prime aim of an ideal educational institution should be developing the child student into a well-informed, confident, sensitive, and useful citizen. Education is all about developing potential and transforming a little bud into full blossom. Pakistan School Muscat, which started functioning in 1975 with only six students, has taken long and impressive strides since then. Today the school has about 1400 students on its rolls, O & A level classes, well-equipped science and computer laboratories, impressive buildings, playgrounds, and a spacious auditorium. All these endowments have made PSM an ideal community school, with an international flavor. PSM has also shown consistently good results in recent years. The new Board of Governors, composed of eminent Pakistanis, has inculcated transparency and merit into the school system. The dedication of faculty in providing quality education is admirable. Several former PSM students who have done well in life are a testimony to the hard work of their teachers. However, in this age of increasing competition and fast developments, we cannot be complacent. We must continue to strive for higher standards, a congenial academic atmosphere, and produce better results to win the confidence of increasingly demanding parents. Today our school is affiliated with Federal Board Islamabad, Edexcel International London, and Cambridge International London. It is contributing to quality education which is being provided with a competitive environment in the institution. Keeping alive the tradition of Pakistan Schools in Oman, the currently passed out students also showed an exemplary performance by attaining A and A+ grades which is indeed a great pride for all of us. The school management has built bridges for parents, students, and the school to maximize communication and interaction among them. It has helped the stakeholders to face the hard challenges and put in sincere efforts to overcome the difficulties and obstructions coming our way. View full school

  5. British School Muscat is Oman’s leading British school. A not-for-profit, British international day school that provides a comprehensive and balanced education to girls and boys aged 3-18. Their vision is to be one of the world\'s leading international schools, offering consistently innovative and inspiring teaching and a broad enrichment program that allows every pupil to pursue individual passions and interests in world-class facilities and a safe, stimulating multi-cultural environment. Welcome to British School Muscat. I am proud to lead our dynamic, thriving, and successful school where visitors consistently comment on the relaxed and purposeful atmosphere around the site, our polite and motivated pupils, and our friendly, family atmosphere. When you are a long way from home I think that it is even more important that your child and your family immediately feel safe, secure, and amongst friends with a supportive international community. This is the starting point for successful learning. Over the last 3 years, we have transformed our school by creating exciting, impressive and inspiring facilities for all our pupils. We are seeing the results of this hard work with some excellent exam results last summer that placed us in the top 3 British international schools in the GCC and top 5% of UK independent and state schools. Furthermore, in our recent British Schools Overseas Inspection (overseen by the Department of Education and Ofsted in England), our school is described as “Outstanding with exemplary features”. Our GCSE results place BSM in the top 3 British International Schools in the Middle East and the top 5% of independent and state schools in the UK. BSM’s growing international reputation for excellence and innovation helps us to attract, retain and develop high-quality UK-trained teachers who are proud to work with our engaged, motivated, and high achieving pupils. To prepare our pupils for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead we value learning that focuses on high performance in public examinations, healthy living and well-being, character development, and global citizenship. We call this approach the BSM Learning Ethos and it underpins learning and teaching throughout our school. With more than 300 activities to choose from, our Enrichment program provides our pupils with opportunities to pursue and explore their talents and interests through a wide range of competitive and recreational sports, performing and creative arts activities, and academic extension and support programs. Our priority is to ensure that your child is a safe, happy, and confident learner. All our staff is trained to offer care and support to our pupils daily. Our dedicated team of assistants, teachers, counselors, and nurses, led by our Well Being Manager, can also offer specialized support and guidance to pupils when required. British School Muscat is very proud to be named International School of the Year 2019 at this year's International School Awards in London for our Internship Programme. We are immensely proud to win this award and delighted that the hard work that has gone into setting up our “Award Winning” internship program has been recognized. In recent years BSM has been going from strength to strength due to the dedication and commitment of our talented teaching team, supported by our parents, governors, and partners locally and further afield. It is wonderful for our whole school community, not least our amazing students, to see our progress validated with this prestigious award. Muscat English Speaking School, as BSM was first known, opened in 1971 in the house of the B.P Manager in Riyam (near Muttrah), with three children and one qualified teacher. Shortly after it moved to the renovated old Consulate Club belonging to the British Embassy in Muscat, with five pupils. In 1972 the school moved again to a new site next to Hochtief/Six Construct (the company then constructing Muttrah Port) School in Darsait, with three classrooms and 33 children on roll. Fees were raised to 75 Omani Rials. Later that year, the school received its first visit from Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Schools to ensure it was developing in line with best British practice. On 30 April 1973, the Subscribers, (firms in the business community whose assistance had made the foundation of the school possible - see below for a list), formally applied to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said for a Charter. His Majesty graciously granted the School a Royal Charter on 3 May 1973, and since then the school has welcomed young people from many different countries. In 1974 the Muscat English Speaking School had an enrolment of 60 children, increasing rapidly to 190 pupils by 1975. In June 1975 the school was notified that its premises were required for development by the Ministry of Communication. The decision was made to build a school on the current site in Madinat Al Sultan Qaboos, on land generously made available by the Government of Oman. The new buildings in Madinat Al Sultan Qaboos, including the buildings we now use as the nursery, the main hall, and the staffroom, were completed in 1978. One of the first projects of a newly formed Association of Parents and Friends was to assist with the coordination of the movement of furniture and equipment from Darsait to the new site. Muscat English Speaking School occupied the new site in Madinat Al Sultan Qaboos on 1 April 1978 with 257 children in 14 classes. On the morning of 3 May 1978 Mr. CJ Treadwell, the British Ambassador and president of the school, officially opened the buildings and asked for the children to be given one day’s holiday to celebrate the occasion. By the spring term of 1984, there was a total enrolment of 591 children in 21 classes at the main Primary school. In the Secondary school, then located in a separate villa, numbers had risen to 50 children in 4 classes. In August 1984, an enthusiastic cast of children and teachers from the Secondary school traveled to Edinburgh to perform in the fringe festival. So successful was this expedition that photographs and an article appeared on the front page of The Times Educational Supplement in Britain. On 14 March 1987, following years of development discussions concerning the need for school expansion, the British Ambassador, Mr. R J Alston, Said the foundations for new buildings, to give space for the senior school to move onto the current site. At the beginning of the spring term, there was twenty-nine classrooms, two halls, two music rooms, three science laboratories, two video rooms, an art room, a library, a computer laboratory, and special needs center. The school also had a multi-purpose sports field with running track, football and rounder’s pitches, cricket practice nets, and two tennis/netball/volleyball courts. 1988 was the 15th anniversary year of the charter to the school by his Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said, as well as the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the school on its present site. Both anniversaries were celebrated on the morning of 20 March 1988 when his Highness Sayyid Thuwainy bin Shihab, Personal Representative of his Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said, officially opened the new building at a ceremony attended by all children and many parents and friends. Since 1988 the site has continued to grow. The original swimming pool was built in 1991 (refurbished in 2016), Senior classrooms were added in 1993, the nurse’s room and nearby offices in 1994. The original sixth form center was converted from staff accommodation in 1998 and will be replaced with our brand new Sixth Form Centre in 2017. The sports hall was finished in 1999 our two additional sports halls & swimming pool will be complete later in 2017. To read more about our facilities, please see our campus & facilities page. 6. We believe in the complete nurturing of our students to develop them to their fullest intellectual, social, emotional, and physical potential. As all students do not possess equal ability in all fields, we take that into account and our instructional program is planned accordingly. We believe in giving an equal opportunity for education to all by their personal, physical, and social needs. BSM was established to give quality education of international standard to the expatriate Bangladeshi community children residing in the Sultanate of Oman but admissions are open for the children of other nationalities as well (conditions apply) residing in the Sultanate of Oman in an international environment. The school has the following aims: To produce a future generation of good citizens with high moral and ethical values along with high academic achievements. Practical and personal skills in modern technology, art, and music, physical education, sports and games, adventurous activities. Leadership qualities, with excellent command over English beside Bengali. Scope for learning other languages. Developing a strong sense of responsibility towards their community, their country, and mankind as a whole. Promote a friendly and healthy relationship among students, staff, and parents. To help students realize the importance of their physical well-being. Create an opportunity for developing self-discipline, self-respect, and respecting others. As Bangladesh School progresses in its glorious journey, emanating the brilliance of knowledge and human values, let us take a vow: together, we will keep the flag of BSM fly high, we will keep this beacon of wisdom burning bright, we will keep this ark afloat to enlighten and shelter generations to come. The field of education faces unprecedented challenges in the modern world. Irrespective of the academic or non-academic nature of the challenges, it is undisputedly agreed by educationists that it is only through proactive methods and a visionary mind that we could rectify these issues. The most beautiful period of a child’s life should not be marred by obsolete teaching methods. Our schools are pledged to implement and encourage learner-centered teaching methods. The school, which runs on three divisions, Primary, Middle, and Senior- emphasizes the overall development of children with very high moral and ethical values. A very strong sense of responsibility is inculcated in them towards themselves, society, and their motherland. Discipline plays an important role here. It helps the children to develop a strong character. Along with academics, the children are continuously encouraged to participate in various inter as well as intra sports and cultural activities throughout the year. Many a time, these children shine bright and bring glory to the school. View full school

As in previous years, we look forward during the year ahead to continuing our work and links with the community. Events such as Pink Day, National Day, International Day, and our Charity Carnival as well as other charity and sporting events are already on the calendar and give another opportunity for our students to express themselves and to develop in different directions. Lastly, this year’s external examination results are now published, and once again many students have done themselves, their parents, and MIS proud. Congratulations to these students and their teachers for their hard work and well-deserved results. 8. Muscat International School (MIS) was founded in 1989 and is centrally located in Qurum and was the first school in Oman to pioneer the IGCSE/A level curriculum. MIS is a private, coeducational day school, licensed by the Omani Ministry of Education to deliver the English national curriculum alongside Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Social Studies from the Omani curriculum, to students of all nationalities in the KG to Grade 12 age range. MIS strives for excellence to lead in the field of educating young adults for the world of tomorrow. MIS is a great place to study and work because the students are confident, friendly, and proud of their achievements and abilities. Our students are respectful, well-motivated, and keen to learn. We set firm boundaries which are clearly outlined and routinely enforced. The above would not be possible without a fine team of experienced and knowledgeable professionals from Kindergarten to Grade 12, who give their time and energy to make sure that the students get the best possible experience at MIS. We are committed to the creative, emotional, physical, and social growth of our students, as well as of course developing their intellectual and academic capabilities, to fulfill their potential. With over 55 nationalities, MIS students are respected as individuals with different histories, needs, and aptitudes and, as a result, there is an ethos of plurality and community in the school. We have a very dedicated team of Grade Leaders in Primary and Key Stage Coordinators in Secondary who focus on pastoral issues. We also have proactive and committed classroom teachers and subject heads who together go the extra mile for their students. Muscat International School is a caring, multi-cultural school that is founded on the concept of Respect. It is a thriving, values-driven learning community in which students and staff share high expectations and develop as individuals by meeting challenging targets. In addition to the core academic subjects, students are actively involved in the arts, foreign language study, physical activity, and pursuits in technology. 9.
