About Me

  1. Fayette has long been an area of education. The first school appeared in 1823, followed by the Fayette Academy in 1825. Howard College was approved by the Fayette community in 1835 but floundered after Fayette's bid to be the University of Missouri's location was passed up in favor of Columbia for monetary reasons. After it was sold, the Howard College building was deeded to the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, in 1847 by Capt. William Swinney. After changing hands, Howard High School was established and later evolved into both Howard Female College and Central College. On April 13, 1853, Central College was founded by Nathan Scarritt and David Rice McAnally. The UniversityUniversity was chartered on March 15, 1855, and the first classes were held on September 18, 1857, with one building on one acre of ground, 144 students, and three faculty members. Founded in 1854, Central Methodist University is a four-year, private, liberal arts university. CMU's main campus, home to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), is located in Fayette, Missouri, enrolling 1,100 students. More than 4,000 students attend CMU's College of Graduate and Extended Studies (CGES), which offers classes online and at sites across Missouri and the region. Diversity is recognizing differences between people and perceiving these differences as an asset to the community. Central Methodist University will be recognized and valued as an institution delivering distinctive academic programs of excellence, nested within a robust and supportive campus environment, preparing students for making a living and living life. To ensure that CMU's educational experiences engender the ideals incorporated in the mission and vision statements, the faculty, administration, and trustees adopted new university broad learning principles and associated outcomes in the Spring of 2016. Six of the nine outcomes will be used to assess the general education program. Central Methodist University is known for its high-quality undergraduate and graduates educational programs, its values-centered learning experiences and longstanding church relationship, its strong liberal arts tradition, its emphasis on character and leadership development, and its graduates' success and professional pursuits. 15. Sekolah Methodist Wesley or Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) was originally known as Kolej Methodist Sentul Campus. The Presidential Task Force set up by the Methodist Church in Malaysia in 1976, recommended that the character of Methodist Private Schools, which had provided a second chance for dropouts from the government system, be transformed, to provide quality education. The College made its debut in January 1983 offering places for students from Form 1 to Form 5. Simultaneously GCE A-Level classes in Science and Arts were introduced. There were also the students of Methodist High School to be phased out. It was an arduous task coordinating three different types of the curriculum under one roof with a mixed bag of teachers and limited resources. Its evolution into what it is today was a slow process. As early as 2003, noticing the potential and enthusiasm in the young students, the Principal was inspired to embark on yet another building project to provide the children with better facilities. After much discussion and planning, the Management Board, with the blessings of Bishop Datuk the Council of Education, decided to go ahead with this project to put up a five storey block with the best possible facilities that are expected in a top-notch private secondary school to provide a conducive and spacious environment for the students to maximize their potential. This building project (a five storey block) comprising classrooms, Science Labs, Computer Labs, Staff Rooms, a Conference Room, Administration Office, Sick Bay, and a large Multipurpose Hall with Elevator Service was started in 2005. The school is one of the most sought-after Private Secondary Day Schools in the country, with hundreds of aspiring students being turned away each year because of lack of places. Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) takes pride in providing a well-balanced all-around education with a strong emphasis on character development based on good moral values, culminating in academic excellence with a high standard of discipline. For Wesley Methodist School, with these two dynamic, experienced, and knowledgeable educationists at the helm, the best is yet to be. We believe that each student is made in the image of God, endowed with inherent dignity, and thus worthy of love, respect, and acceptance. We believe that each student is a unique individual endowed with distinctive character, aptitudes, and abilities. We believe in the nurture and development of the whole person – the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical, and social – to his or her fullest potential. We recognize that the teacher plays a crucial role in fulfilling our Vision and Mission. We believe that passion for teaching, love for young people, moral character, professional competency, and good communication skills are critical prerequisites. Further, we believe that teachers of the Christian faith can best impact students through their godly character and lifestyle based on a vital personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe that the school should provide a wholesome and non-threatening environment, where the student feels welcomed, secure, and happy, and which promotes individual learning, growing, thinking, as well as interpersonal skills and respect for others in the context of a multi-ethnic and multi-religious community. We recognize that the school should not replace but complement the home in the responsibility and task of nurturing training, and socialization of the young person. We believe that the school should impart the highest and noblest of human knowledge to the student. Further, we believe that educational excellence goes beyond academic results to encompass the meaningful learning of the subject matter. The curriculum should encourage critical and creative thinking, instill an appreciation of the sciences, arts, and culture, and promote character formation and responsible citizenship. At the same time, attention should also be given to the informal curriculum and other forms of extra-curricular activities.

From its inception, MLC attracted boarders from all around the country. The iconic Gothic Revival building in the front gardens is now where our borders live today. Although MLC was Australia's first girls' school founded by the Wesleyan Methodists, those of all faiths and cultural backgrounds have always been welcomed. This inclusive and accepting environment of the College, as well as being an internationally-minded school, is still strong today. In the 21st century, MLC continues to benchmark educational excellence, facilities, and innovation. Some notable historical achievements include: In 1990, MLC became the first school to introduce laptop computers for all students from Years 5 – 12. In 1991, MLC Marshmead opened, providing Year 9 students with a unique eight-week residential outdoor education experience focusing on sustainable living. In 2014, MLC was one of the first Australian schools to achieve the Council of International Schools' accreditation for commitment to internationalism and global citizenship. The College has always proudly adopted an international outlook and embraced diversity and continues to do so. MLC develops confident and articulate young women who have the skills, knowledge, values, and attitudes to shape their future and contribute meaningfully to the international community. Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL) was founded as a private educational institution in January 1983 by the Methodist Council of Education. The Founding Principal was Mrs. F R Bhupalan. Secondary classes (Forms 1 to 5), Sixth Form, and A-level classes were conducted and the enrollment increased dramatically with the success achieved by the College. Due to the growing student population, a new campus was established in Sentul in 1994, and Forms 1 to 5 classes were moved in stages to what is now called the Wesley Methodist School, Sentul. This move was completed in 1999 and Methodist College Kuala Lumpur, Brickfields is now focused on providing pre-university studies, diploma and certificate level courses as a private higher education institute (Institut Pengajian Tinggi Swasta – IPTS). In 2000 the Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) program of the Curriculum Council, Western Australia was added to the GCE A-level, U.K. pre-university studies program. Both the GCE A-level and AUSMAT programs have successfully prepared numerous students for admission to overseas universities in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, U.S.A., Singapore, India, and many other countries as well as to local private university colleges. The Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Certificate in Early Childhood Education programs to train professional early childhood educators were started in 2005. In 2006 the Certificate in English program and short courses in Business English were added to the College’s course offerings to meet the needs of working adults and secondary school leavers. Located in the rapidly developing area of Brickfields and KL Sentral, the College is poised for its next stage of growth with the launch of its new building extension and renovation plan. In 2008 Methodist College Kuala Lumpur celebrated its 25th Anniversary as a private college of Excellence for Life. View full school
  25. Since the pioneering spirit of early missionaries in Malaysia in 1891, Methodist Education has shaped the lives of thousands of students for 125 years. Our Wesley Methodist Schools (WMS) tradition gives the school a special character, that stands apart from the other school models: the WMS tradition of Christian values, service to the community, and all-around quality education. Wesley Methodist School has become a name synonymous with producing the A.C.E. student, Academically excellent children, trained in Character values, and pursues Extra-curricular achievements. This philosophy lies at the heart of our mission to help our students reach their full potential. The school's fundamental philosophy is: We believe that each student is made in the image of God, endowed with inherent dignity, and thus worthy of love, respect, and acceptance. At WMS Penang (International) we follow an integrated curriculum that places emphasis on academic excellence and focuses on the development of the whole child addressing social, physical, emotional, cultural, spiritual, and academic needs for learners from age 4 to 16. WMS Penang (International) adopts the internationally recognized British Cambridge curriculum for Primary School Year 1 to Year 6 and Secondary School Year 7 to Year 11, leading to the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (I.G.C.S.E.) and A-Levels in Year 12 to Year 13. Students sit for the externally assessed Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) examinations: Cambridge Primary Checkpoint in Year 6, Cambridge Secondary 1 Checkpoint in Year 9, and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in Year 11 and Cambridge International A-Levels.
