- Mission Boys educated to know, to do, to live with others, and to be. Our mission underpins all that we do at Christ Church Grammar School. It encapsulates the energy, diversity, and rigor of the School’s programs while highlighting the importance of community and the spiritual side of humanity. Adapted from the International Commission on Education for the Twenty-First Century, UNESCO, 1996. Vision A school renowned for building good men to make a positive difference in their world. 899 William McClemans arrived in Perth and was immediately appointed a deacon of the Perth diocese. In the following year, he was ordained as a Church of England priest. During the early years of his professional life, he succeeded the Reverend Canon Charles Lefroy as the fifth rector of Christ Church in Claremont and became a Canon of St George’s Cathedral, the first clergyman ordained in Western Australia to be so appointed. McClemans is fondly remembered as a man with a vision and the person solely responsible for conceiving a school on the grounds where Christ Church campus now resides. In August 1909, McClemans asked the Diocesan Trustees of Western Australia to purchase a block of land for a preparatory school, arguing that ‘at the present time there is no boys’ preparatory school in the state and that if the church does not do something soon, some other religious body will step in, and we shall lose our opportunity. On 7 February 1910 the Reverend William McClemans, the rector of Christ Church, Claremont opened the doors of a small, preparatory school. Christ Church Grammar School is an Anglican school and as part of the Anglican Church of Australia Christ Church is committed to building good men in the Christian faith. At Christ Church, we take a holistic perspective and focus on influencing and inspiring a new generation of boys to make informed decisions regarding their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. The Christ Church LW Parry Preparatory School carries an enrolment of 500 boys from Pre-Primary through to Year 6. There are two classes at each level from Pre-Primary to Year 3 and four classes at each level from Year 4 to Year 6. The boys begin their journey through six Phases of Learning from Pre-Primary onwards. The developmental phases center on motivating your son to discover and realize the best in himself and others. In 2019, as part of our new Preparatory School build, Christ Church will open its exciting new Early Learning Community (ELC). The Community will cater for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten boys as well as our Pre-Primary boys and will feature state-of-the-art learning facilities and access to an environment full of discovery. The Christ Church Senior School carries an enrolment of 1160 boys from Year 7 through to Year 12. In Senior School, your son will continue the journey through the Phases of Learning, which center on motivating him to discover and realize the best in himself and others. Boys are challenged to extend themselves during these vital transition years in the Senior School, both in and outside the classroom. This phase aims to expand their view of themselves, explore their abilities in the different subject disciplines, and continue their exploration of the world outside the School. Boys have a greater choice over a range of academic and co-curricular subjects in which they can explore their skills and talents. This phase of learning is the next step towards discovering the men they hope to become as well as helping them to shape their future dreams into achievable goals. In his final two years of schooling, each student takes on the challenge of mastering the skills necessary for his chosen pathway. He is encouraged to take full responsibility for his learning as he focuses on developing excellence and expertise in his six chosen subjects. View full school

- Every student is enrolled in one of our specialist Graduate Programmes, which are designed to give our students the edge when applying for university or starting in their careers. You can find out more about these programs by clicking here. Although examination success is essential in today’s highly competitive global job market, at Christ the King we put great store on educating the whole person. Every one of our students is an individual. Our college motto is ‘Ut Vitam Habeant’, which means ‘that they may have life. We encourage every student to develop as a whole person and to be actively engaged in the College and the community so that they may have life to the full. As a Catholic Sixth Form College, we have a distinctive ethos which underpins all our work and is a key factor in our success. While we put great stress on qualifications, hard work, effort, and academic success, we’re about far more than that. We are here to educate young people in the widest sense, developing the whole person so that all our students realize their full potential. We not only want our students to leave us as rounded, thoughtful, caring, and confident adults equipped with the skills and attitudes they need to make a success in their lives, we also want them to be ready to make a positive contribution to society. Through our character education program, The CTK Graces, we help our students to develop the traits and attributes of grit, respect, assurance, curiosity, endeavor, and self-control so that they have the qualities they need to be discerning and to thrive in the highly competitive world that awaits them. Our tutorial and pastoral support systems ensure that every young person is nurtured and valued as an individual. Our college is underpinned by values of mutual respect and positive encouragement. All our young people take part in a learning program in which they are invited to consider the personal, spiritual, and moral issues they will face as they move into adult life. We are delighted that our distinctive ethos was recognized by education inspectorate Ofsted in its most recent inspection: ‘The College fosters a spirit of generosity and love.’ At Christ the King, our mission is a simple one: to help our students be the best that they can be. Excellence runs through everything we do. We offer an elite education – but to all. As part of our local community, we welcome anyone who can benefit from our demanding, but inclusive, education. As a long-established Catholic Sixth-Form College, we’re specialists in helping young people achieve their full potential and catering to the specific needs of sixth-formers. We aspire to excellence in everything we do, whether that’s teaching and creating an exciting, aspirational learning environment for our students, or caring for, and supporting, our young people as they make the transition to adulthood and life beyond college. We combine tradition and a fine academic record with innovation. We embrace all the exciting opportunities that the modern world has to offer our students, but we also take pride in our tradition of high expectations and academic rigor. We’re not afraid to demand the best of our students – and they rarely let us down. Our dedicated, specialist staff have the skills to nurture and develop young people and help them achieve the qualifications they need to move on to the next stage of their life, whether that’s a top university or the first step in their working life and future career. College life is an exciting one for our students, and the switch from the more regimented, restricting school environment provides the perfect introduction to adult life. But at Christ the King, the learning environment is a structured one. We expect much of our young people, and we ensure that they achieve all that they are capable of – and more. View full school
- Welcome to our school. Christ the King Catholic Primary School is a vibrant school where children are enthusiastic and motivated to achieve endless possibilities. With Christ at the center, children are at the heart of every decision we make to ensure that they are safe, happy, independent, and confident and that the opportunities that are provided for them are relevant to their needs both now and for the future. Through our broad and engaging curriculum, we ensure that children can foster a passion for learning and curiosity of the world around them, which will develop high aspirations and a lifetime of memories. We believe in ensuring that all children receive a well-rounded curriculum, where individual talents can be spotted and nurtured to ensure that all children experience success and reach their full potential. Our school has a talented and dedicated team that works hard to reach high standards in everything we do and this is further embedded through our successful relationships with our families, our parish, and the local community. We firmly believe that education is a partnership between home, school, and parish and regard you as an active partner in your child's education and value your interest and support. The Gospel Values express what we value, teach and live as a community: Compassion Gentleness Justice Integrity Simplicity Humility Love Forgiveness Hope At Christ the King we provide a Catholic curriculum, which is broad and balanced, recognizing that every pupil is unique and is created in the image of God. Our curriculum is designed to enable every pupil to discern their vocation and to be well-equipped to follow it as active citizens in service to the world. We also provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities and strong pastoral support. Our teaching staff has developed a whole school thematic approach that provides children with stimulating lessons based around themes that engage and motivate them, whilst ensuring progress. We are committed to providing children with a rich range of practical experiences in a safe, stimulating, and enabling environment. We are dedicated to developing our curriculum, as research advances and our understanding of our learners evolves. Through our engaging curriculum, we ensure that children can foster a passion for learning and curiosity of the world around them, which will develop high aspirations and a lifetime of memories. We believe in ensuring that all children receive a well-rounded curriculum, where individual talents can be spotted, nurtured, and celebrated to ensure that all children experience success and reach their full potential. In the Early Years Foundation Stage, we aim to create a place where children can explore, learn, be active, meet friends, be safe and be adventurous. Research shows that children learn best through structured play, with skilled adults to talk to, think with and learn from. Here, at Christ the King School, we value each child as an individual and provide a balance of child-initiated and adult-led activities both indoors and outdoors as we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. This consists of the three Prime Areas and four Specific Areas of: Personal and Social Development Communication and Language Physical Development Mathematics Literacy Understanding the World Expressive Arts and Design We are working with reading Write Inc to provide an engaging, energetic phonics program for all the children in our school who need it, to support their reading and writing. ‘Pupils have a right to receive an overall religious education that will enable them, in the light of the faith of the Church, to engage with the deepest questions of life and find reasons for the hope that is within them. Therefore Religious Education is never simply one subject among many, but the foundation of the entire educational process. Our curriculum is designed to enable every pupil to discern their vocation and to be well-equipped to follow it as active citizens in service to the world. Catholic Religious Education is the “core of the core curriculum” (Pope St John Paul II) and the foundation of the entire educational process. We also provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities and strong pastoral support. We incorporate democratic principles, value the rule of law, support individual liberty and foster a community in which different faiths and beliefs are respected.” View full school

- We are a thriving Christian school that always aims to provide a caring and happy environment. We believe that by holding fast to our Christian values and traditions, we can provide the best education for every child. We know that if parents and staff work together, we can build a close working relationship that will benefit all of our children. Staff is always happy to discuss any good news, worries, or problems with parents, carers, or children. We have a very successful strategy for working with parents, which is outlined in this prospectus. We are a very happy school, where children, staff, families, and the Diocese work together to provide an exciting and caring learning environment Together we will value and care for each other, our school, and ourselves. Ofsted states that ‘Pupils are extremely caring, thoughtful and considerate, succeeding in following the school’s values of respect, honesty, forgiveness, and joy. Pupils of all backgrounds, cultures, and faiths work and play together very harmoniously’. Our school has an innovative, and creative curriculum called ‘The Creative Learning Journey’, which we are a lead school for. People come from all over the country to see what we are doing at Christ Church. We feel very honored. We always strive to do the best for our children and seek to improve our school every year. We do place great importance on achieving well academically however, we believe that education is more than that. It is about giving children a true love of learning and nurturing independent and creative thinkers. We believe that a close working relationship with our children’s parents/carers is the key to a successful time in school. Our governors provide strong and valuable work in the school. They provide support and management in all aspects of their role, in overseeing the statutory duties of the school to provide a good education for all pupils thus providing a strong basis for every child’s future and growth in life. We aim to develop as an outstanding school that welcomes and nurtures each individual's gifts as a unique child of God, in a safe and creative Christian environment, inspiring curious minds. In the last year, we had two exceedingly successful inspections the first being an Ofsted inspection, where the school achieved excellence in all areas of the curriculum and was awarded the highest accolade achievable of ‘outstanding’. We also had a SIAMs church inspection, where the school was praised for its strong Christian ethos, care, and discipline and again excelled in all areas achieving an ‘outstanding’ grade. - We are a one form entry Church school that believes in putting the pupil first by tailoring their education to each individual. We are proud of our child-centered approach to learning, our rich and innovative curriculum, and our commitment to our ‘educating the whole child’ ethos. We are fortunate to be one of the few inner-city schools that has not only a large playground and playing field but also a dedicated wooded Forest Schools area which is integral to our approach to learning. At Christ Church, we believe that children are better able to reach their full potential when we work in effective partnership with parents and carers. To that end, we actively encourage family engagement in school life. Within a nurturing, Christian community we inspire lifelong learners and prepare them for a successful future. The desire to develop and maintain good behavior in a school, that is free from harassment and bullying, underpins our guiding principles. We have therefore developed policies to ensure that procedures around the maintenance of behavioral standards are fair and consistently applied regardless of race, gender, sexuality, disability, religion, or culture and linguistic. Similarly, we enjoy a rich multicultural and multiracial diversity. We have therefore ensured that through our curriculum and policies and procedures we provide equality of opportunity and fair treatment for all. Our curriculum reflects the cultural diversity of our school while maintaining a strong focus on basic skills. The curriculum is designed to be exciting and interesting, ensuring that each child is motivated and engaged. We aim to ensure that all pupils achieve their full educational potential. We have high expectations and a strong focus on literacy and numeracy. In addition to English and maths, our pupils study science, computing, history, geography, religion, music, art and design, and the importance of healthy living through our sports and activities program. We promote enjoyment for learning and encourage children to be independent, reflective learners through the development of thinking skills. All Lambeth Local Authority (LA) maintained schools have a similar approach to meeting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and are supported by the LA to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school. All schools are supported to be as inclusive as possible, with the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities being met in a mainstream setting wherever possible. We provide a safe learning environment for our Looked after Pupils ensuring that their individual needs are met by maintaining good communication with those caring for the child, social services, and support services. We commit to attending review meetings and ensuring the targets set on Personal Education Plans are integrated into school life. View full school
- The vision for our school is to create an environment in which pupils learn and grow into young people who are equipped for the future physically, mentally, and emotionally. A clear code for behavior ensures a calm purposeful environment that allows every pupil to take an active part in the school community. We value reading as a key to the future and have an author in residence. We give our pupils access to a wide range of classic and modern authors to develop their love of reading. Our Curriculum is built around activities that develop pupil experience. This means we take our learning outside the classroom. This can be maths in Battersea Park or a London walk. Outdoor learning is an important part of our timetable and pupils are allowed to apply their learning within the natural garden settings the school has developed. British Values underpin the work of the school and we have a 'Value of the Month' which is taught explicitly to all classes. Christian values have always been at the heart of Collective Worship in the school and pupils of different faiths work together to uphold these values. We value the support of parents, governors, and the local community in supporting and encouraging our growth. The school was founded in 1866 and although the present buildings were opened in 1908, they have been substantially modernized and extended during the last 10 years. The school has laptops, tablets as well as networked computers, and an interactive whiteboard. The school hall was refurbished in 2003 and in 2005 the whole school was re-wired and the school kitchen fully refurbished. A new boiler and heating system was installed in 2006. Most recently, the school’s main corridors and entrances were completely refurbished and three outdoor shelters were erected to further enhance outdoor learning. The School employs 10 full-time teachers including two Outdoor Learning Teachers, a Headteacher, and Deputy Headteacher as well as a SEND and Reading Recovery Coordinator. There is a team of 3 HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistants), and 8 Teaching Assistants to assist children’s learning in small groups and the classroom. The School also employs 2 Lunchtime Supervisors. There is an administrative team comprising a full-time School Business Manager, an Administrative Assistant, and Office Receptionist. A part-time Premises Officer and three cleaners complete our team. The school is a single-form entry organized into the Foundation Years (Nursery and Reception classes) plus six Year Groups (KS1 & KS2 classes). Children usually spend one year in each Year Group. We receive much support and encouragement from the vicar (who is the Chair of Governors) and members of the parish and other local churches who are also on the governing board. We encourage and welcome governors and parents to come into school regularly to work with children. Clergy from the parish come into school every week. Our school has good relationships with the local police, fire service, the library, old people’s homes, the local hospice, and the many secondary schools our children move on to. The School holds the RHS Level 5 award and two DfES School Achievement Awards in recognition of its work to raise school standards. We were awarded the Basic Skills Agency Primary Quality Mark in 2006 that was renewed in July 2009 and July 2012 and 2015. During the last 4 years, Christ Church School has built a very successful partnership with Emanuel School which includes a link with a school in India. Funded by the British Council’s DFID Global School Partnerships and the DCSF’s (Department for Children Schools & Families) Teachers’ International Professional Development (TIPD) Programme, members of staff from both schools have made exchange visits and are working together to embed a global dimension for learning in both schools. In recognition of its international work, the school has been awarded the International School Award 2009-12. We also hold the Wandsworth Healthy Schools Award. The National Curriculum is taught using methods, which are recognized as good primary practice. This includes group and whole-class teaching where appropriate, individual, paired, or group work. Children may work in ability groups or be placed in groups for various subjects. Classrooms are organized as workshops with all the tools and materials that children need to do their jobs. The children are required to be responsible for their classrooms and all the equipment. Children are expected to behave in a way, which enables each child to work and learn effectively. In common with all other maintained schools, we are required to provide for the National Curriculum. View full school
- Christ Church CE Primary School is a one-form entry Voluntary Controlled Church of England School situated close to Birmingham City Centre. The school has around 230 children aged from 3 to 11 years old. There are six classes and an Early Years Unit. All classes have access to additional support from Learning Support Assistants and Bilingual support. The school has three playgrounds, a field, a computer suite, and a library. There is a hall that is used for Collective Worship, dance, music, gymnastics, games, drama, and school productions, as well as for school lunches. We are a Local Authority school although as a church school we are guided by the Birmingham Diocesan Board of Education. We are closely connected with Christ Church Parish and are thrilled with our new Christ Church. Our ethos seeks to promote Christian values and morals whilst being sensitive to the range of cultures present within our school and community. Our vision is for everyone in our family to feel equal, valued, and prepared for life in modern British society. Our children will become independent and resilient learners in an inclusive, safe environment where spiritual fulfillment and success are our priorities. Believe and Achieve! In developing a greater understanding of Christian and other faiths within the community, we seek to develop the personality and potential of all and to understand that we are created equally by God. We are committed to providing outstanding education to prepare our children for adult life in modern Britain in our locality by living in harmony before God. By developing the social, moral and cultural, and spiritual dimensions of pupils the school seeks to equip them to make a positive contribution to the community. In finding time to be still and reflect, we seek to foster spirituality and a deeper relationship with God. The School Aims: To prepare each child for the opportunities and experience of life in a multi-faith society. To teach that caring for each other is central to promoting understanding, respect, and consideration. To have happy, healthy, independent learners who realize their full potential through personalized teaching and learning in a safe and secure environment. To celebrate and nurture our faith commitment and show that God is at work within our community. Christ Church CE School is a Church of England school. We have a distinctly Christian ethos, where shared respect, compassion, and consideration for other faiths are all valued and celebrated. Although many of our pupils are from other faiths, we encourage everyone to talk about their faith and share in faith celebrations in school. While our Collective Worship deals with Christian themes, links are made to the faiths represented in our community. We believe it is crucial that children gain knowledge about the main religions represented in Britain at present as well as having a good foundation in the Christian faith and belief. Therefore RE is taught according to the local Agreed Syllabus which is also recommended by the Diocese. This involves children learning about at least the six major world faiths. We have a beautiful Spiritual Garden where people can go when they would like time to be calm and quiet. The area is also used for reflection and stories. The garden was designed around the theme of ‘creation’ and some of the children helped with deciding what kind of things they would like in the garden. There are lots of different things to look for which represent God’s wonderful world. The governors and staff always strive to provide the best possible opportunities for our children and families, whilst ensuring they feel safe and happy in a secure and caring environment. We have high expectations of everyone within the Christ Church family and know that with quality teaching, an exciting curriculum, and a supportive environment everyone can achieve their best. At Christ Church School, pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. As a school, we educate and provide boundaries for young pupils to make informed choices, through a safe environment and an empowering curriculum. Pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and advised how to exercise these safely, for example through our eSafety and PATHS lessons. At Christ Church School we undertake to include all children and welcome those who are not able to speak or understand English. Children who arrive at Christ Church have encountered a variety of experiences that impact their language skills. Our children range from being fluent English users to those who may only use one-word responses. Our teaching assistants attend training in school alongside teachers and they receive training to deliver intervention programs when required. We are committed to involving pupils in reviewing and planning their learning. We are working towards this happening more often in school. Inclusion is an ongoing process that celebrates diversity and involves the identification and minimizing of barriers to learning and participation that may be experienced by any pupils, irrespective of age, ability, gender, ethnicity, language, and social background, and the maximizing of resources to reduce these barriers. Christ Church School minimizes barriers to learning and maximizes pupil participation. View full school

We know that there is a clear link between good attendance and good learning and so we have very robust systems for ensuring that our attendance remains high. We are a uniformed school and we believe it promotes a sense of pride, community, belonging, and well-being. The Christian Faith is at the heart of our school community. At Christ Church, we care for each other and learn together. Christ Church is a small, caring school that is committed to a broad, balanced curriculum and a continual raising of standards. We aim to contribute to the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental, and physical needs of every individual. We are a Church of England school with a strong commitment to the teaching of Christianity, whilst also supporting a multi-faith approach to the curriculum. We recognize, value, and celebrate the rich cultural diversity that exists in our school. The Christian ethos of the school is reflected in our positive, disciplined, and calm atmosphere. We believe that effective learning takes place when children work in a purposeful and stimulating environment that supports a wide range of learning styles. Mutual respect between adults and children promotes excellent behavior and well-developed social skills. With this approach, we seek to achieve high academic standards. We aim to cater to each individual, taking particular account of any specific needs or abilities. We endeavor to ensure that all our children fulfill their potential and, within this context, we emphasize health and safety, enjoyment and achievement, and the beginnings of responsibility for themselves and others. These skills will be carried forward to the next phase of education and throughout life. The school aims to provide a positive, disciplined, and purposeful environment within a Christian context. We aim to teach children to be caring, to exhibit good behavior and appropriate social skills, and to begin to take responsibility for themselves and others. The school aims to teach a balanced curriculum and to ensure that each child fulfills his or her potential. We aim to provide teaching and learning of a high standard. We believe that this is achieved when pupils are highly motivated, enjoy coming to school, and are appropriately challenged. View full school
- At CCCS we are committed to developing and providing an environment that is stimulating, challenging, and exciting and where pupils, therefore, feel fulfilled and confident in themselves. We aim to get the best from every child in our School by setting high standards through dynamic teaching by focusing on the child as an individual and by ensuring that in all areas of school life there is a positive and encouraging atmosphere where achievement is a reality for all and where pupils learn to think for themselves and to acquire the skills of the independent learner. We expect good manners and common courtesy towards all people in all situations and promote appreciation of and respect for difference: everyone here should feel valued and an important part of our community. We believe that this can be most effectively achieved if there is a healthy partnership between the School, pupils, and parents. As a school rooted in the traditions of the Church of England, we have, as a central purpose, the development of the spiritual and moral lives of our pupils with the corresponding expectations of behavior towards others and to both the school and wider communities. We also seek to encourage pupils to approach new challenges with confidence, not fearing failure but learning from it. Finally, we aim to produce pupils who are resourceful, motivated, imaginative, and reflective so that when they leave our school, they will relish the challenges of life and be ready to flourish at their chosen senior schools. We have three departments: the Nursery (for boys and girls aged 3-4) housed in Cardinal Wolsey’s former residence the Pre-Prep (for boys aged 4-6) and Prep (boys 7-13) mostly accommodated in the modern Walton Centre. We build on long and strong traditions but look forward, aiming to prepare each boy for the challenges of the next stage of his education, to nurture talent, and to build self-esteem. We have tried on our website to give you a flavor of our busy, happy, and successful School, but words and pictures can only go so far: there is no substitute for seeing us for yourself. When you visit you will be assured of a warm welcome and we hope that you will decide, as so many other parents have done, that you could see your child learning, playing, and thriving at Christ Church Cathedral School. The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Everything written on this website is premised upon that fact and we are always mindful of this when formulating responses and strategies. Our Nursery is where the story begins. It is housed in a 16th-century building in which Cardinal Wolsey sketched the plans for his college with a garden in the shadow of Christ Church's imposing frontage. The Nursery follows the Montessori philosophy and approach to learning combined with other more traditional methods of teaching. The underlying philosophy of the Montessori approach is to cultivate each child’s innate curiosity whilst developing concentration, coordination, independence, and order. Our experienced staff aims to instill a love of learning, independence, and a sense of having a meaningful place in our community here at CCCS. The Headmaster reads to the Nursery every week. The Pre-Preparatory Department, which includes Reception, Form 1, and Form 2, is where the foundations are consolidated. Class sizes throughout Pre-Prep are small - 16 in Reception and 18 in Forms 1 and 2 – which allows our teachers to focus on each boy as an individual. Pre-Prep New.jpgUnder the close direction of our Head of Pre-Prep, Miss Farmer, the boys are encouraged and motivated in the wide range of academic, musical, and sporting activities on offer. Our inspirational teaching staff ensures that the boys are fully engaged and challenged throughout their school day in a nurturing and caring atmosphere. Specialist class music is standard and instrumental tuition is available for those who show early promise. Children take home their books to read with parents each day and are gradually introduced to short tasks for homework. Our curriculum is broadly based on that set by the government (ie the Early Years Foundation Stage in Reception and the National Curriculum), although we often teach well in advance of these requirements and enjoy the freedom to follow the boys' interests and go off at a tangent where appropriate. Our strong belief is that if boys are allowed to be boys they will, ironically, mature more quickly. If they are educated in a context where their imaginations are sparked, where their curiosity is engaged, and where they enjoy themselves, they will start thinking for themselves, they will work hard and they will care profoundly about the work they are doing. In essence, they will succeed in all walks of life, most particularly academically. Our boys learn to voice their views fearlessly they learn that to ask questions is the best way of learning how to answer them. We believe that pupils thrive when they are happy when they are treated with kindness and consideration and when the expectations placed on them are high. To treat them otherwise is not to take them seriously. View full school

Extremism is defined as the holding of extreme political or religious views. The Governing Body of Christ Church C of E Primary School has a zero-tolerance approach to extremist behavior for all school community members. We rely on our strong values to steer our work and ensure the pastoral care of our children protects them from exposure to negative influences. Christ Church C of E Primary School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all its children. As a school, we recognize that safeguarding against radicalization is no different from safeguarding against any other vulnerability. At Christ Church Primary School all staff is expected to uphold and promote the fundamental principles of British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. Our curriculum promotes respect, tolerance, and diversity. Children are encouraged to express themselves through discussions, debates, and consultations. The RE (Religious Education), PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education), Citizenship, and SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural) provision is embedded across the curriculum and underpins the ethos of our school. Children learn about all major faiths and visit places of worship wherever possible. They are also taught about how to stay safe when using the internet. Children are encouraged to adopt and live out our Core Christian Values. These complement the key “British Values” of tolerance, respect, understanding, compassion, and harmonious living. Children are helped to understand the importance of democracy and freedom of speech, through topics, circle time, and assemblies, where the PSHE curriculum is delivered. Children have the first-hand experience of the democratic process as they are encouraged to democratically elect Pupil Parliament representatives and pupil leader – A head boy and Head Girl. Children are taught how to keep themselves safe, in school and when using the internet. Children participate in local community events so that they appreciate and value their neighbors and friends who may not share their faith background. Children’s wellbeing, confidence, and resilience are promoted through our planned curriculum and extra-curricular learning opportunities. Children are supported in making good choices from a very young age, so they understand the impact and consequences of their actions on others. View full school

Now Canterbury, a World Heritage site, is home to three universities, a renowned Cathedral, as well as a host of shops, bars, and restaurants. Canterbury is a diverse and beautiful city – a World Heritage site, a center for the arts, and an excellent destination for shopping and socializing. Canterbury's location means that London and Europe are within easy reach, and a visit to the coast is just a short drive away. Every year it plays host to several festivals, and the bars, clubs, and restaurants are popular all year round. Places you can visit in Canterbury include: Canterbury Christ Church is organized into academic faculties, that contain schools and centers for teaching and research, and professional service departments that provide our central services. Our Strategic Framework sets out our aims and objectives for the next five years and will enable us to build on our strengths and deliver measurable outcomes and impact in the context of our mission and values. We want to do more than provide our students with a high-quality education. We want to work in partnership with our students to ensure they graduate with an understanding of the challenges facing society and our world and have the skills, commitment, and personal qualities needed to help address them. Our aspirations for the next five years are formed around four broad aims. We want to enhance the student experience, further develop our high-quality teaching, extend our research and knowledge exchange activity, and ensure that all our resources are used to support our goals effectively. We will continue to work with students as partners to provide a first-class university experience that includes stimulating teaching and opportunities for the workplace and voluntary experience and study abroad. We will further develop our high-quality support services and facilities to ensure they are provided on how and when our students need them. We will build on our existing mechanisms for receiving and acting upon student feedback to continue to deliver an excellent student experience. We believe in a curriculum that is informed by our research, contributes to society's needs, and enhances the student experience. Our courses' strength and breadth are notable, and we want to build on that success across the board while ensuring that our commitment to social and environmental sustainability is embedded throughout our teaching and research. Research conducted by our academics makes a real difference, especially in the fields of health care, education, social and applied sciences, business, humanities, and the arts. We must nurture and support this. During the coming five years, we will continue to develop our research and knowledge exchange partnerships to deliver high-quality outputs that influence government policy, develop professional practice, benefit society, and inform our teaching. We understand that how people want to work and learn is changing, and we also need to keep up with innovations in teaching and research and knowledge exchange. To do this, we need to use our resources effectively, ensuring our buildings and technology support the achievement of our strategic aims and our University community. Our people have a crucial role to play in the achievement of our strategic aims. We want to ensure that our University is an inspiring place to work. People can develop and realize their potential within a friendly and professional learning community, working in partnership with our students. The senior management team developed the Strategic Framework in consultation with staff from across the University, the Governing Body, students, and external stakeholders. We will regularly measure the University's performance against Key Performance Indicators.

- The Seminary of Christ the King is a Roman Catholic seminary conducted by Westminster Abbey's monks with local diocesan clergy and some very dedicated lay volunteers. In drawing up its coat of arms, the Seminary selected from the wealth of available symbols to show its particular origin, identity, and mission. The beautiful 80-hectare campus provides residential accommodations along with recreational and community facilities of many kinds. On-Campus, there are two communities of seminarians – The Major Seminary, made up of seminarians from neighboring dioceses. The High School Seminary (Grades 8-12) comprises seminarians across Canada and the United States. The Seminary resides on the same grounds as the Abbey, within the Archdiocese of Vancouver, B.C. Since 1931, when the Seminary was opened in the Archdiocese, the Seminary has striven to form priests and religious in the image of Christ, the High Priest, and with the mind and heart of the Church. We emphasize liturgical and community formation without neglecting the other pillars of priestly formation and identity, viz. human, intellectual, and spiritual foundations. The College seminary program'sprogram'sprogram's goal is to form spiritual men who are well prepared for the ministerial priesthood and adjust to the changing needs of the Church while holding fast to the essentials. The Seminary of Christ, the King in its Arts and Theology departments, gives special attention to the character and spiritual formation of each seminarian, which is centered on the LiturgyLiturgyLiturgyLiturgy and builds upon the foundations of faith and reverence learned in the Christian family. The Seminary is convinced of the advantage of maturing within a community of like-minded seminarians and pursuing priesthood studies in a setting where the Church is loved and the Church Seasons and feasts help make real the mysteries of the faith and create a supportive environment for academic life. The Seminary provides experiences of apostolic and pastoral life that aim at actively engaging each seminarian in the diocesan life of the Church. The purpose of the High School seminary is to provide an atmosphere within which young men can grow in holiness, i.e., grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and the Seminary community. Only through such growth are we able to discern God'sGod'sGod's will for us, our vocation. The Seminary's fundamental purpose is not merely to provide a good education or to be a safe environment, but to grow in our ability to follow Christ the Redeemer with generous souls and pure hearts. The Seminary follows the British Columbia Ministry of Education'sEducation'sEducation's program for Secondary Education. However, it provides the seminarians with a wholesome spiritual, communal, intellectual, and physical environment where a young man can avail himself of the means to mature in love for the Church and the Christian virtues and responsibilities. Our secondary aim is to prepare a young man to continue his formation toward the priesthood or religious life in the Major Seminary, should he be called. The Seminary of Christ the King was founded in 1931 by Archbishop William M. Duke of Vancouver. In 1939, with the Holy See'sSee's approval, the Archbishop entrusted the Seminary to Benedictine monks as a training center for diocesan and religious priesthood students. In 1951 the Seminary opened the Faculty of Theology. The Monastery was raised to abbatial status in 1953 under the title Westminster Abbey. In 1966, through its University Charter, the Seminary was empowered to grant the Bachelor of Arts degree and degrees in Theology. Welcome to the website of the Seminary of Christ the King. The Benedictines of Westminster Abbey have had the responsibility of guiding the discernment and formation of men for the Catholic priesthood at the Seminary of Christ the King since September 1939. Our monastic charisms of community life and daily celebration of the Eucharist and the LiturgyLiturgyLiturgyLiturgy of the Hours typical introduce our seminarians into community life and the LiturgyLiturgyLiturgyLiturgy and form them as men of communion united in the Church'sChurch'sChurch's worship of the Father. With our strong emphasis on community life and a daily rhythm shaped by the liturgical cycle, seminarians experience, often for the first time in their lives, the richness of the Catholic Faith in all its intensity and beauty. The splendor of our natural surroundings, as we are located on a hilltop above the Fraser Valley, in no small way enhances the sense of wonder that we hope to instill in our seminarians here at SCK. Committed to the four pillars of priestly formation, human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral, the formators and professors at the Seminary of Christ the King accompany the seminarians throughout their years of formation and assist them to integrate these facets of the whole man into their lives so that our ordained alumni are capable and zealous priests after the heart of Jesus. Our Seminary offers both a four-year program in Philosophy, a B.A. degree, and a four-year Theology program with B.Th. And M.Div. Degrees for those who meet the graduation requirements. Intellectual formation at SCK draws upon the fonts of Scripture, the Magisterium, Conciliar teaching, and St. Thomas Aquinas. We hope that our seminarians will be men who think with the Church and appreciate and appropriate into their hearts and minds that which is right, fair, and beautiful in classical and contemporary thinking, literature, and art. Human formation at SCK occurs informal settings such as lectures, conferences, and personal direction and informal ways such as part of life in the community. Students take responsibility for many household chores and share in the work of preparing and celebrating the LiturgyLiturgyLiturgyLiturgy. We welcome inquiries from Catholic men interested in discerning a possible call to the priesthood or consecrated life. We have three or four weekends each year for men to stay with us and find out something about seminary life and the joys and challenges of following Jesus'Jesus'Jesus' call to come and follow Him and be fishers of men.
