      1. Westville Boys’ High School is a world-class South African institution that prepares its students for a rapidly changing global environment and has developed an enviable reputation for achieving all-around excellence in the education of its students. Despite its widespread recognition, the School has retained the community character for which it has become known since its inception. Westville Boys’ High School is a happy and productive school with considerable stakeholder involvement. We believe in the value of a balanced, all-around education encompassing Academics, Sport, the Arts, and Leadership. Across all these areas we are committed to nurturing in our boys the intellectual, creative, and interpersonal skills which will be demanded of them in the rapidly changing, complex, uncertain, and ambiguous world of today. Our ultimate aim is to develop our boys into respected and responsible young men who will add value to society in their lives and chosen careers. Westville Boys’ High School has a proud record of academic achievement. Its reputation as a top school was built around academics during the first years of its existence. This reputation has now been enhanced by a high degree of success in sport, culture, service, and leadership as well. At WBHS teaching methodology in each subject is generally based on a questioning and interactive approach. The School also promotes the concept of collaborative learning as a skill that benefits all pupils. This is evidenced through classroom activities and the academic extension and academic support programs offered outside of the timetable. At WBHS a strong emphasis is placed on Mathematics and Science. The School does not subscribe to channeling pupils into subjects that may be regarded as softer options. Our emphasis on obtaining the highest possible number of pupils taking Maths and Science for matric allows pupils to extend themselves to their full academic potential and to maximize their opportunities in their chosen careers. Westville pupils are regularly among the top performers in the annual National Senior Certificate examinations, both provincially and nationally. The School’s most recent top performer was Jarrod Staples who was placed second in the county in 2018. This achievement followed Asil Motala, who was the top matriculant in South Africa in 2013. He was the second Westville pupil to attain the number one spot in the country. Colin Bigg, in 1999, was the first to achieve this accolade. On eight occasions since the first matriculating class at the School in 1959, a Westville pupil has been the top placed matriculant in the province. WBHS is a member of the Alan Gray “Circle of Excellence”. This network recognizes a maximum of 100 schools in South Africa each year, both public and private, that is, among other things, committed to genuinely transforming South African society and who produce young graduates who have a hopeful view of themselves, their country, their continent, and the world. WBHS has been a member since 2008, the founding year of this prestigious network. Westville Boys’ High School is proud of its world-class Aquatics Centre. It is the home of our championship-winning swimming team, which is unbeaten across all galas it has competed in since 2008. The Aquatics Centre includes the Chad Le Clos Pool, which is a 30m x 35m pool with a uniform depth of 2.2m to cater for advanced swimming and water polo. This pool was funded from various sources including a grant from the National Lottery Board. This pool is the venue for the prestigious annual Westville Invitational Gala. The Centre also includes the Chad Ho Pool, which is a 25m x 25m pool financed more than 40 years ago through a partnership between the School and the ex-Natal Education Department. We believe in the value of sport-for-all, career opportunities in Sport, and the positive influence of Sport on enhancing academic performance, emotional intelligence, and resilience. We promote full participation, fair play, sportsmanship, commitment, teamwork, collaboration, resilience, and year-on-year progression in the physical and inter-personal skills of our sportsmen. We also commit to tailoring our academic support, teaching, and coaching programs to the needs of high-performance sportsmen. Westville Boys’ High School has established a fine reputation as a leader in the Performing Arts. The School aims at excellence in holistic education, and the Performing Arts is a major feature in the strategic mission of the School. This activity constitutes a definite point of difference in comparison to other boys’ schools. A major production is staged three times per year. The productions are of the highest acting and technical quality and are not restricted to any specific genres. These have included Broadway musicals such as High School Musical 1 & 2, Oklahoma! and Guys & Dolls serious dramatic plays such as The Crucible, Macbeth, Master Harold and the Boys, White Men with Weapons, and A Few Good Men as well as Shakespearean plays Macbeth, Hamlet, and The Tempest. Musical revues along with specific themes also showcase the singing and dancing talents of WBHS students. Cultural evenings, dance festivals, and the annual Shakespeare Schools’ Festival presentations are also staged every year, exposing as many boys as possible to the very strong culture of Performing Arts at the school. For female roles, WBHS opens its auditions to budding actresses from a variety of local schools. View full school

      3. A warm welcome to Harris Boys’ Academy East Dulwich. What makes us special goes far beyond the “outstanding” rating by Ofsted we were delighted to achieve in 2011. At the heart of our success is an absolute belief in the ability of every student to shine – no matter what their background, ability, or character. We will accept no excuses for being anything but the best we can be. When a student joins our academy some will already be high-fliers, others will be good all-rounders and some will face significant and individual challenges. Each student will already have a unique personality, gift, and character that we will develop further by working together. I have made it clear to everyone at the Academy that we are stronger as a team than a group of individuals, and that by pulling in the same direction we will achieve great things. We encourage our students to be critical thinkers and promote these skills throughout the curriculum. A student at Harris Boys' Academy will learn how to engage critically with foreign affairs, religion and society, issues of citizenship, and the media, so they acquire the skills and recognize the value of, thinking for themselves and thinking in a well-reasoned manner. This feeds into our desire to leave our students with the ability to apply these same skills to any context, for example, whether they are being subject to peer pressure, or being actively targeted by extremist ideologies. Children learn best when their school environment is safe, inclusive, and welcoming. We have a culture of mutual respect between students and staff, and zero tolerance of bullying in any form. We have a proven track record of getting the best from all our students, reinforced by very clear expectations regarding student conduct, manners, uniform, and behavior which are non-negotiable and consistently enforced across the Academy. We believe that success occurs in a framework of high expectations, whilst also acknowledging that mistakes provide valuable learning opportunities too. This is a school at which every student has the chance to find his unique path to success, where everyone is aware of their rights and responsibilities towards themselves and others. The curriculum at Harris Boys’ Academy East Dulwich is designed to ensure that each student is educated and supported to succeed in the world today in line with the latest educational research. The Key Stage 3 curriculum is followed by Years 7 and 8 and is designed to provide depth and breadth of study whilst ensuring that appropriate time can be devoted to Mathematics, English, and Science. Key Stage 3 is the bedrock and the foundation for our students to be successful when they leave Harris Boys’ Academy. By getting Key Stage 3 right, the transition to Key Stage 4 is much easier for students. We intend to give students a ‘taste’ of as many subjects as possible, whilst preparing them for, and informing them about, their GCSE options. Literacy and numeracy skills are developed in every subject and across the curriculum. All students have a broad weekly curriculum offer of English, Maths, Science, Geography, History, Spanish, Religious Studies, ICT skills, Physical Education, Design and Technology, Food Technology, Art, Drama, Dance, and Music. To help our students prepare for success in an ever-changing world, we have developed a Key Stage 4 (Years 9, 10, and 11) Programme of Study that offers each student a focussed Curriculum Pathway, as well as an option to incorporate personal interest into his studies. All students follow a core curriculum of English Language, English Literature, Maths, Double Science, either Geography or History, and BTEC First Sport. The majority of our boys will also have a Modern Foreign Language as part of their core curriculum. Our students select their additional subjects to make up their curriculum. This selection is made up of vocational courses and other academic subjects. The list of optional subjects is extensive and will give the boys a real opportunity to experience a subject that they may then want to go off and study at university. At Key Stage 5, we are part of the highly successful Harris Federation Sixth Form with over 120 students studying at Harris Boys’ Academy East Dulwich. View full school

Staff is passionate about instilling the desire to learn and the ambition to achieve within all pupils and believe strongly in positive reinforcement and rewarding pupils for exemplifying the Academy’s STAR values of Service, Teamwork, Ambition, and Respect. We have devised innovative and successful teaching techniques to capture and sustain pupils’ interest and, by creating a values-based environment that promotes and rewards hard work, pupils are encouraged to always do their best. Eden Boys’ Leadership Academy, Manchester is part of a family of academies within Tauheedul Education Trust. Our curriculum is designed to foster thought, curiosity, and a desire for learning in all pupils, regardless of their backgrounds, strengths, and needs. It should be a gateway to opportunity and fulfilling and prosperous life in modern Britain and beyond. Our curriculum is broad and balanced, with an emphasis on academic success. We prioritize learning in Literacy, Numeracy, Languages, Humanities, and Science. Our curriculum is both coherent and cumulative, with an emphasis on the critical importance of knowledge acquisition. Leadership development, exam results, and university preparation are at the heart of the sixth form experience in all Tauheedul schools. By combining a focus on high levels of academic achievement, with ethical, sustainable living, community service, and charitable giving, Tauheedul schools ensure that all sixth form pupils leave with the best possible foundations for their future lives as high achieving, active citizens. Our sixth form is due to open in September 2022. Learning at home is an essential part of a good education. The classroom is not the only environment where successful learning can take place. The regular setting of appropriate, thoughtful, challenging, and differentiated homework contributes to pupils’ overall learning experience and is essential for an individual pupil to reach their potential. Every pupil is encouraged to set their sights high for their future, regardless of their background or individual circumstances. To help them prepare for college, university, and the world of employment, we deliver careers guidance through a range of processes designed to develop high aspirations in pupils, encourage pupils to consider a broad and ambitious range of careers, and enable individuals to make informed choices and transitions related to their personal, educational and careers development. We also draw on specialist support from local partner organizations. We know that for each pupil to achieve success, the Academy must create a culture of aspiration and self-belief, supported by a state-of-the-art Academy development system. We have rigorous target setting and performance management systems for all of our activities. These are kept under constant review by the Senior Leadership Team, Governing Body, and Trust. Each pupil has a personalized learning plan designed to challenge and support them. Progress, behavior, and attendance are monitored carefully and early action is taken in any areas where a pupil’s progress is causing concern. Parents also have an important role to play in ensuring their child achieves their potential. They receive half-termly report cards and we hold Performance Review Meetings with parents for those pupils who are not making expected progress. The sessions set challenging, but realistic, targets for the pupils. View full school

      6. Central Foundation is one of London’s leading schools, with over 1000 boys between the ages of 11 to 18. Also, our Sixth Form has an expanding number of female students who now constitute about a third of our Sixth Form. A Central Foundation education involves providing our students with a wide range of educational experiences, including academic, sporting, musical, dramatic, debating, and public speaking. Our aim is that through this provision the students develop the knowledge, skills, and attributes they all need to lead successful lives, but besides, it allows the students to develop their unique talents and confidence and to forge their paths in life. Underpinning a Central Foundation education is rigor and a drive for excellence. We are rightly proud of our students’ examination results. In the last few years, these results have consistently shown the school to be one of the leading educators of boys in the country. These exam outcomes have enabled our students to access a very ambitious selection of universities. The school’s approach that supports the students to achieve academically is also seen across the whole of our educational provision. Central Foundation is a fully comprehensive school, welcoming students of all academic abilities and, of course, from all backgrounds. The extraordinary diversity of our community contributes significantly to the education we offer. It helps us to promote the liberal, open-minded and tolerant values that were at the core of our founder’s vision over 150 years ago and remain so to this day. The well-being and happiness of all of our students are paramount to us. As well as providing excellent individual pastoral care we have looked to create a school community that promotes the development of happy, well-adjusted and fulfilled young men. This is achieved both through the myriad of activities available to the boys and also in how all of the adults and boys work together in a spirit of care and respect. The school’s location is unique in its position at the heart of Tech City and on the edge of the City of London. This location gives us unrivaled opportunities to engage with a huge variety of organizations and individuals who support our students in developing their understanding of our rapidly changing world. Thank you for exploring the possibility of entry to Central Foundation Boys’ School at what I believe is a very exciting time to be part of the school’s community. It is a great honor to be leading the school during its 150th anniversary in 2016-2017. We believe that it is our responsibility that every one of our pupils fulfills their academic potential. Also, we must ensure that they develop a love of learning, fully develop their creativity, and, so importantly, enjoy their time at the school. We aim to: Offer an academic challenge that enables every pupil to realize their potential. Create an environment that instills in students the ability and courage to think independently and develop a love of learning. Provide a wide range of cultural, sporting and adventurous activities for pupils to enjoy and through which they can learn to work co-operatively and to lead. Be a community that nurtures every student and encourages them to develop a sense of social responsibility and that also supports their spiritual and personal development. Support all of our students in the best universities and high-quality employment. Develop and maintain the school’s facilities to ensure that the physical environment of Central Foundation sustains the excellence of its education. Ensure that the pupils from all backgrounds and abilities can obtain admission to school and feel secure and valued and that they are all able to realize their potential. We provide an interesting and well-taught curriculum that is broad and balanced. We seek to challenge and motivate our students so that they achieve their maximum potential. In Key Stage 3 all students are entitled to study the subjects on offer. Many subjects will organize the students into groups based on their ability to improve achievement. We operate a timetable spread over two weeks with 30 50 minute periods each week. We have specialized pathways to ensure success for our students. We combine traditional values with a modern approach. Our students work in a disciplined environment that is conducive to learning, with excellent resources that match the needs of education in the new millennium. We believe that the best way to motivate our pupils is by providing exciting and challenging lessons. We encourage students to participate fully in lessons and take responsibility for their learning. 9. Our goal is to inspire your son, encourage him to dream, take control of his life, and create his bright future. At the core of our curriculum is BBC's Teaching and Learning framework - Dimensions of Learning (DOL). The framework is based on what researchers know about how students learn and combine teacher-directed and student-directed learning. Having one overarching framework creates cohesion in a large school and enables students to make connections across subject disciplines. It also: Provides a resource for teaching and learning strategies. Sets a framework for planning professional learning for staff. Gives students and teachers a common language for talking about learning and teaching. Teaches students thinking skills they can apply themselves hence develop independence. The DOL framework comprises five dimensions: Attitudes and Perceptions, Acquire and Integrate Knowledge, Extend and Refine Knowledge, Use Knowledge Meaningfully, and Habits of Mind. At Brisbane Boys' College, there is always a Next Generation. This is never truer than for technology. Today, more than ever, we need to move our thinking beyond traditional literacy to a more dynamic set of 21st-century fluencies. These skills are needed to live and succeed in this rapidly changing society. These skills are not just about technological prowess. They are not about hardware but more about headware! We promote 21st-century fluencies and encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and innovation. Staying ahead of the curve is vital; that is why we advocate 1-1 learning using Tablet PCs. This keeps us in-step with the ever-evolving world of technology, transforming today's students into skilled professionals, successful business people, and leaders of tomorrow. Knowledge-based learning is no longer enough. We need to teach children how to think. Not only to solve problems but to recognize them in the first place. We know boys. We know how to harness their energy, curiosity, and thirst for competition. We call this A New School of Thought. Designed to stimulate and challenge inquiring young minds, the BBC's Junior School program caters to young boys' unique learning styles, combining structured and play-based learning experiences. We look beyond traditional foundation skills such as literacy and numeracy, with boys extended in these areas through competitions in debating, public speaking, and mathematics. At the BBC, our focus lies in developing the whole boy and preparing him for future learning and the changing world. Specialists, including Visual Art, Christian Education, Music (choral and ensemble), Technology, and Physical Education, are integrated into our core academic curriculum. Exposure to experiential learning builds and activates resilience, problem-solving, independence, social aptitude, and mindfulness. The synergy between childhood development and a boy's ability to learn, absorb, and apply knowledge is reflected in our approach. Our understanding of key developmental milestones informs teaching strategies and enables us to deliver tailored learning experiences for your son. Designed to stimulate and challenge inquiring young minds, the Junior School program at the BBC caters to young boys' unique learning styles. A combination of creative and structured learning experiences allows each student from Prep to Year 6 to explore their particular interests and individual talents while acquiring a strong foundation for future learning. Purpose-built facilities provide an exceptional learning environment, and all boys are extended and supported at each stage of their development to ensure they experience personal success. The flexible and diverse curriculum encourages students to become active learners, complex thinkers, and effective communicators. At BBC, we believe success starts early, and this sits at the core of our philosophy and vision for Junior School students. The early year's program provides a wide range of educational experiences designed to support boys' academic and personal development. Priority is given to literacy and numeracy, both reinforced and strengthened by exploring core subject areas, including Science, History, and Geography. Specialist lessons in Art, Christian Education, Music, Technology, and Physical Education enable boys to discover individual talents and interests. The curriculum is designed to build a successful foundation for future learning and focus intensely on developing fine motor skills, phonological awareness, and mental habits. In Years 4, 5, and 6, boys are encouraged to evaluate the world in which they live, build on talents discovered during their early years, and continue to develop their knowledge in key learning areas. The diverse program is designed to promote higher-level thinking skills and independent learning. Quality teaching in early childhood is paramount to quality outcomes. Our boys start their formal reading and writing journey from the first weeks of Prep. We follow an evidence-based approach to literacy, which incorporates a love of literature with a highly-structured, synthetic phonics approach to reading and writing. Boys love this. Our approach means our teachers follow a consistent method to scaffold boys' understanding of decoding text and then apply the skills they have learned to comprehend and write. Boys are regularly assessed and placed in focussed groups to support and extend so that they keep up and shine, not catch up. Their success breeds success.
      10. The Boys' Latin School of Maryland is the state's oldest independent, non-sectarian all-boys School. Students in kindergarten through 12th grade provide a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum that focuses on building 21st-century skills and empowers each boy to achieve his true excellence. The Boys' Latin School of Maryland instills the core values of courage, integrity, and compassion in each boy as embodied in our motto, Esse Quam Videri (to be, rather than to seem). By understanding how boys learn best, our talented faculty fosters enduring personal relationships and empowers each student to strive for academic and personal excellence. Boys' Latin offers a rich and rigorous academic and co-curricular program that prepares young men for the 21st century's opportunities. The School welcomes students from diverse backgrounds and educates them in a supportive, student-centered environment. Boys' Latin is accredited by AIMS (Association of Independent Maryland & DC Schools) and a member of NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools) and IBSC (International Boys' Schools Coalition). As Maryland's oldest, independent and nonsectarian, college preparatory school for boys, Boys' Latin was founded on the belief in our motto Esse Quam Videri (To Be, Rather Than To Seem). More than 175 years later, each one of us - administrators, teachers, coaches, and students - continues to strive for and expect this TRUE EXCELLENCE from one another every day. Our collective success in this school-defining enterprise is evident in the corps of great men of character and talent who call themselves Lakers. Their life achievements have helped advance virtually every field and industry. One pioneered the use of penicillin. Another established one of our nation's most successful financial institutions. A recent graduate interned with NASA and is developing robotic devices, while another is determined to reinvent the hospitality industry. All are remarkable. It all started here. Much more vital than our facilities and student body changes is the national leadership role Boys' Latin assumes among independent schools. We have set standards for student academic self-confidence and emotional well-being, a model peer culture, and excellence in faculty support. Throughout our history, we have always known that our students come to our School with distinctive talents and differences in learning styles. We have always worked tirelessly to ensure developmentally-appropriate, culturally-attuned, and individually-tailored learning experiences for every boy since our beginnings - more than 170 years ago. Boys' Latin offers an environment like no other. Here, there is no one-size-fits-all program. Our students thrive in an environment where they have room to see where their academic curiosity takes them, flex their creative muscles, and discover talents they never suspected they even had. But perhaps what our boys value most of all: they become part of a unique lifelong brotherhood, exclusive in all the best senses of the word. Boys learn best by doing. That is why we focus on experiential, hands-on learning that appeals to different senses, involves action and movement, and produces tangible outcomes. A prime example is our trout release every spring. To learn about ecosystems, lower school students raise trout and then release their newly hatched babies into nearby Lake Roland waters. Boys' Latin approach to education is purposefully single-sex. Extensive research shows that boys learn differently from girls, and we know that boys learn best when their unique interests and distinctive talents are taken into account. Over almost 175 years, Boys' Latin has developed unparalleled expertise in creating a school community where boys thrive. At Boys' Latin, we honor how boys think and learn. We understand that boys need to know why something is important. In leveraging what motivates them, we prioritize developmentally-appropriate, hands-on experiential learning that appeals to different senses, involves action and movement, and produces tangible outcomes. Our educational programs are tailored to help boys gain confidence in their ability to learn and grow at their own pace in becoming men of character and values. They are taught, advised, and coached by faculty hired because they want to work with boys. With a student-faculty ratio of 7:1 and small class sizes, our School creates myriad opportunities for personal attention and individual interactions. Here, every boy is cherished and loved. Boys' Latin provides an atmosphere and tailored programming for boys to explore sensitive issues. In doing so, students here are not distracted as in traditional, co-educational environments by trying to live up to the gender stereotypes so prevalent in the media and society at large. Boys' Latin is committed to providing a stimulating, supportive and safe learning environment that encourages self-expression, respect for a wide range of interests and talents, and active participation in academics, the arts, athletics, and community service. Our students feel secure to take challenges and realize their boundless possibilities. View full school

Upon completing the final year of Secondary Six, students will take part in the first Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examinations in 2012. 16.

      20. View full school
