Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools before the start of the next school day when a child or young person has been involved or exposed to a domestic abuse incident the previous evening. The information is given in strict confidence to a school’s Key Adult to enable support to be given dependent on the needs and wishes of the child. Schools must consider the safety of confidential/personal data removed from a school site (electronic and paper). Ensuring that ALL staff is aware of how to handle sensitive or personal information and their responsibilities when accessing data is vital and this section guides staff training and recommendations. School behavior targets will be displayed around the school for all staff to encourage. As part of our commitment to encourage pupil's voices, the 'Behaviour Working Party' and the 'Rights Respecting Team' helped to develop this behavior policy and were consulted on what rewards should look like in our school. Orleans Primary School is a two-form entry community school located in the St Margarets area of Twickenham. In September 2012 we opened as a Primary school, before this we were a three-form entry infant school. Over the last few years, Orleans has undergone a substantial building program to facilitate our expansion and we now have fantastic facilities which enable us to provide an outstanding education for all our children. Richmond Local Authority set our admissions criteria. We admit 30 children to each of our two Reception classes. If your child attends our Nursery you will need to reapply for a Reception place. There is no automatic right of admission from Nursery to Reception. Reception places will be offered strictly according to the Local Authority admissions criteria. If your child has been refused a place at one of your preferred primary or secondary schools, you may appeal the decision of the admissions authority. Your reasons for appealing will then be considered by an independent panel. Once your application has been received, it will be processed and you will be contacted about the next steps, including details of how your appeal will be conducted. Children can start Orchard Nursery in the school term following their third birthday. Coming to our nursery setting will allow your child to develop their social skills and begin to make new friends in a safe, educational, play-based setting that is run by qualified professionals. This is an important stage as it supports your child to develop and gain the skills needed for future learning including basic counting/number recognition, enjoyment of stories, phonics, social skills, and physical developmental play. Orchard Nursery is both part-time and full-time. We have 20 full-time and 12 part-time places available. If all the full-time places are not taken up, additional part-time places will be offered. If there are still vacancies remaining, parents with part-time places can ask to top up the part-time entitlement to a full-time place for which there will be a charge. All children can start Primary School in the September before their 5th Birthday if this falls between 1st September and 31st August. Parents can apply for up to six primary schools in Hackney including neighboring boroughs. If you want your child considered for our school, you will need to apply using the online application form. This is available from 1st September for admission to the following academic year. The form will be processed by Hackney Learning Trust. Early registration does not give priority as the closing date is the 15 January of the year of admission. Orchard House School was formerly a family home and retains a happy, welcoming atmosphere, starting at the front door where the headmistress or a senior staff member greets each child by name every morning.
