More than AU$1 billion has recently been invested in our facilities and infrastructure so our students and staff can thrive in an environment that is inspiring and switched on to the latest digital technologies.

Macquarie is home to some of the world's most pre-eminent researchers, many of whom are members of our 18 Concentrations of Research Excellence. These concentrations cover a diverse range of fields, from Ancient History to Climate Change. Alongside this research effort, we are rejuvenating our learning and teaching, updating our curriculum, and providing opportunities for students and staff to contribute to society.

Macquarie University was founded in 1964 as a radical and unconventional addition to the New South Wales tertiary education market. Fifty years on, Macquarie University is still different.
