The German University in Cairo, GUC, is an Egyptian Private University founded by the presidential decree 27/2002, according to the law number 101/1992 and its executive regulations number 355/1996.

German university in Cairo/Deutsche Universität in Kairo was established in 2002 in cooperation with the State Universities of Ulm and Stuttgart, under the patronage of the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts, State of Baden- Württemberg, Germany, and supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Embassy in Cairo, the Arab/German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Germany, The State University of Tübingen and The State University of Mannheim.

The German University in Cairo is an independent, non-profit oriented Egyptian private institution, managed by a consortium of Germans and Egyptians with the vision of building a leading center of excellence in teaching and research that will effectively contribute to the general welfare nationally and internationally and endeavor the scientific, technical, economic and cultural cooperation between Egypt and Germany.

In October 2003, German and Egyptian delegates headed by the Egyptian President and the German Chancellor inaugurated the German University in Cairo in an unprecedented event in educational and research fields. It is the first integrated German university outside Germany that has 3 Bologna cycles, namely B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D., offering 71 study programs (31 undergraduate and 40 postgraduate). GUC focuses on integrating Academia, Research, and Industry for the best practices model of education.

In 2007, GUC inaugurated the first Industrial Park linked to education and research in Africa and the Middle East. GUC is the first university to operate an Industrial Park that is integrated into the core activities of the students

In 2007, GUC inaugurated the Guest House in the heart of Ulm as a necessary step to host the researchers, academics, and students in exchange programs with different sister universities.

Moving on to an unpreceded achievement, in 2011, GUC inaugurated The German University in Cairo-Berlin office as a step forward to promote international research and education activities. Researchers from both Egypt & Germany cooperate on closer research activities in Pharmaceutical, Engineering, as well as in Management fields. By 2012, German University in Cairo established The Berlin campus in the heart of Berlin City. This facilitates cultural exposure, the orientation to industrial achievements, and the European/German world economy's involvement.

GUC went for a further step in quality enhancement by being accredited by ACQUIN. Based on International standards, GUC degrees are accredited by AQUIN. This accreditation supports international scholars and top-ranked calibers in the international labor market.

The vision of GUC is to Build a leading center of excellence in teaching and research that will effectively contribute to the general welfare nationally and internationally and endeavor the scientific, technical, economic, and cultural cooperation between Egypt and Germany.

The German University in Cairo has faith in the significance of providing state-of-art facilities and provisions for the undergraduates, the staff, and the partner bodies that enrich the quality of their research endeavors, tutoring, and instruction procedures correspondingly. The GUC perpetually fosters these facilities to submit more advanced competence levels for numerous stakeholders, research groupings, academics, and students in Cairo, Berlin, and Ulm. It is a challenge to enhance the GUC educational milieu and to provide indispensable scholastic aid.

The GUC clinic - located on the Ground-floor of the B1 Building - offers professional medical services to all GUC community members by qualified university doctors and nurses.

The medical team provides emergency medical treatment and advice to all GUC staff and students during the working hours, including playground and kindergarten injuries and the transfer of complicated cases to hospitals under their supervision by equipped ambulance.

Additionally, they arrange for prevention-protection programs at all university locations to maximize its environmental safety. They organize and supervise health-oriented activities such as blood donation campaigns, ideal weight counseling, healthy nutritional workshops…etc. The clinic is equipped with all necessary pieces of equipment and medicines for examination and treatment. The clinic is open daily from 8:30 am till 6:00 pm except for Fridays.

The GUC recognizes the importance of sports for a healthy body and maintenance of physical balance; hence the Student Activity Department focuses on the development of sporting excellence and sport participation and strengthening the competitive spirit of the young talented students.

We provide outstanding opportunities for students and staff to develop their sports sports' interests and abilities and to involve themselves in diverse sports based on their preferences.
