  1. Karachi Institute of Power Engineering (KINPOE) has developed a qualified workforce in Nuclear Power Technology. KINPOE is affiliated with the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences for the award of Master of Science degree in Nuclear Power; previously, it was affiliated with NED University of Engineering and Technology Karachi to award Master of Engineering Degree in Nuclear Power Engineering. Initially, KINPOE functioned as the Karachi Nuclear Power Training Centre (KNPTC). For the first two decades, KNPTC organized a one-year post-graduate training program for engineers & technicians nearly for the operation and maintenance of KANUPP. The academic programs of KNPTC underwent many revisions to increase emphasis on developing better analytical and design skills. In 1993, the master's degree program in nuclear power engineering was started KINPOE is uniquely qualified for this program. The design, construction, and operation of a power plant and its associated facilities require many science and engineering areas. To provide a broad-based technical knowledge, KINPOE offers the degree of Master of Science in Nuclear Power Engineering to candidates from diverse engineering and scientific backgrounds. All candidates are offered a fellowship to undertake this course. The academic program is of two-year duration, spread over a seven-week zero semester and five regular semesters of 14 weeks each. Selected candidates should be ready to undertake serious studies. KINPOE and CHASCENT offer a broad-based Post-Graduate Training Program (PGTP), where candidates from diverse engineering backgrounds are admitted. The training program consists of a six-week orientation under the zeroeth semester's name, followed by two regular semesters of classroom training, lab work & assessments at each level. After the end of the second semester, the candidates will perform on-job training and plant visits. The entire program covers one year. Diploma holders and Science graduates trained in necessary nuclear technology are essential for the safe operation and maintenance of nuclear facilities. For this purpose, KINPOE has offered a one-year Post Diploma Training Program (PDTP) in Nuclear Power Plant Technology since 1973. The training includes classroom instructions, laboratory experiments, and field visits. Upon completing successful training, selected candidates may be appointed as Tech-1. In contrast, Science graduates may be appointed as Scientific Assistant-1 and can be assigned tasks related to operation or maintenance in nuclear power plants or related installations.
  2. MPEI is one of the leading technical universities in Russia in the field of Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Radio Engineering and Electronics, Informatics and Computer Science, founded in 1930. The area of modern power engineering includes power engineering (hydropower, wind power, thermal, nuclear, solar and space power, etc.), electrical equipment, sciences about materials, electronics, classical and applied physics, radio engineering and communication, computer systems, management and economics in power engineering. All these spheres and other particular training directions are available in MPEI for foreign undergraduate and graduate students. MPEI has been training engineers and scientists for foreign countries since 1946. At present, about 900 international students from 60 countries are trained at MPEI. MPEI combines "pure energy" and "non-energy" specialties that provide the most in-depth range of our graduates' tasks. We train qualified specialists for all branches of science, technology, and production. Glorious by its traditions, the University has prepared over 200 thousand specialists on power engineering for our country and more than 85 foreign countries. Now MPEI is not merely the leading Russian University in the field of power engineering. We unite other Russian technical universities training specialists on power engineering within Power Engineering Educational Consortium. Today MPEI is a modern system of continuous multilevel training of specialists with higher education in technical, economic, and humanitarian fields. Advanced technologies of training introduced in MPEI, orientation to modern methods in educational, scientific, and innovative activity guarantee a sustainable advantage in our graduates' labor market and assist them with their further professional growth. Our University has close relations with many foreign universities as friends and partners, with whom we have signed long-term cooperation agreements. We have always been aspired to make the walls of Moscow Power Energy Institute a home for qualified graduated specialists responsible for the present and the future of their countries. We are proud of our past, we feel confident in the present, and we look to the future with optimism! Modern technical University does not exist without active scientific and technology activity. NRU MPEI performs a broad spectrum of fundamental, research, methodical, and applied investigations in many scientific directions. MPEI students actively participate in scientific researches. Lots of their developments were awarded the medals of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the diplomas and medals of Russian Government, RAO "Russian EES," OAO Mosenergo, etc. MPEI performs specialists' education on the Federal Program "Education of Managers for Organizations of the Russian Federation." There is an Educational Center for Energetic Branch in the field of management in MPEI. This Center is functioning based on the European Union program and is established by the international consortium consisting of Greece, Denmark, and Ireland's industrial and educational organizations. The critical point of the pedagogical process is the student's physical and mental development. The humanitarian component is an integral part of modern specialist training. MPEI House of Culture and its/ groups (of students and teachers) are well-known both in Moscow and beyond our country's borders. The student interests behind the MPEI university's administration are defended by the student trade-union organization, which motto "We are always in two steps from you". The MPEI Students Trade-Union Committee's top-priority tasks are to ensure the optimal conditions for the students in getting the high-quality knowledge, to guarantee the students living in the hostel, to offer the physical development and various cultural leisure, to perform the financial support in the complicated living situations.
  3. The institution of higher learning received the status of University in the year 2000 based on the Kazan branch of Moscow Power Engineering Institute. Kazan branch was established in 1968, and this year the University celebrates its 45th anniversary. For nine years, the University was headed by a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, an honored worker of Science and Technology of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan, doctor of technical Sciences, Professor Yuri G. Nazmeev. From 2003, the University's rector was the doctor of physics-mathematics sciences, professor, laureate of the Order M. Lomonosov, an honored worker of Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, Yuri Y. Petrushenko. At the end of 2011, Kazan State Power Engineering University was headed by a philosophy doctor (Ph.D.) of technical Sciences, Associate Professor Edward Y. Abdullazyanov. Kazan State Power Engineering University is one of three state specialized power engineering institutions of higher learning in the Russian Federation (the other two being Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Technical University) and Ivanovo State Power Engineering University). It occupies one of the top places in the region in education, availability of technical equipment, and conditions of scientific research and study process. The university trains specialists in 14 directions of preparing for bachelors and masters, and in 11 directions of training specialists (31 specialties) on a full time, evening, and correspondence forms of study. The university trains specialists for the Volga region's power grids and the nearby and far foreign countries. Students undergo practical training at the power companies of Kazan city, Republic of Tatarstan, and Volga Region. Today the University has about nine thousand students and post-graduates from various regions of the Russian Federation, CIS countries, Asia and Africa. The University carries out retraining and qualification upgrading of the specialists in various fields of production, science, and technology. The educational process is conducted by highly qualified personnel. More than 21.2% (576 people) of the lecturers are doctors of sciences, professors 70.2% have academic degrees and titles (doctors of science – 73 people, philosophy doctors (Ph.D.) of science – 328 people).
