  6. National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) is a vibrant learning community that has long been recognized as one of Taiwan's elite higher education institutions. Founded in 1946, NTNU was formerly an institute dedicated to teacher education, as suggested in the name "Normal," that later evolved into a comprehensive university. Established on the credo that education is the root of our nation, NTNU has been committed to pursuing academic excellence, characterized by the many influential educators and researchers it has nurtured over the years. Bearing the hallmarks of tradition and innovation, NTNU has expanded to 3 campuses, offering a broad spectrum of courses and degrees under its nine colleges, including the arts and humanities, education, sociology, business management, athletics, to the sciences. NTNU's strong dedication to cultivating bright minds and transmitting knowledge with the highest level of standards, along with its main campus's location in the cultural hub of Taipei City, attracts thousands of talented students and devoted scholars from home and abroad every year. The arts and entertainment that NTNU has to offer to the city's cultural community make the college experience all the more attractive. NTNU not only boasts an active academic climate but also embraces cultural diversity. The internationally renowned Mandarin Training Center at NTNU draws around 1,700 students from over 70 countries each quarter with its distinguished language. NTNU enjoys a long and distinguished history as one of the four oldest universities in Taiwan. Founded in 1922 during the Japanese regime, it was first known as Taihoku High School before being renamed as Taiwan Provincial Teachers College in 1946 and subsequently restructured as a comprehensive university in 1994. As it approaches its centennial, drawing on its longstanding commitment to excellence in education, the University offers exceptional learning environments in its Colleges of Liberal Arts, Science, and Engineering, Social Sciences, and Management. A recognized leader in Fine Arts, Music, and Sports, NTNU is also the home of one of the top colleges of Education in Taiwan, with a growing influence across Asia and beyond. NTNU's dynamically evolving Mandarin Teaching Centre is an excellent site for studying the Chinese language, attracting thousands of students from around the world. Through rigorous disciplinary and interdisciplinary studies and a wide range of extra-curricular activities, our students can nurture their talents and develop the skills and attitudes required for achieving success in the 21st century. Parallel to its commitment to excelling in its educational mandate, the University continues to invest in both basic and applied research in areas of high relevance to Taiwan, Asia, and beyond. Founded in 1922 during the Japanese colonial era(1895-1945), Taihoku High School was the alma mater of outstanding individuals such as former ROC President Lee Teng-hui, entrepreneur Gu Zhen-fu, and various former ministers of the five branches of government. There was no training or cultivation of teachers of secondary and higher education. Furthermore, training was for colonial education, and in the post-WWII era, this was no longer applicable. At that time, the Taiwan Executive Administration decided to establish a teacher's college. On June 5, 1946, the Taiwan Provincial College of Education was founded and took up the responsibility for renewed teacher training in the Taiwan region. In the spring of 1955, following the education reforms of President Chiang Kai-shek, the Ministry of Education implemented the policy of "Teaching resources come first, teachers to the fore". Minister Chang Chi-tian suggested during a convening of the Executive Yuan to reorganize the college as a university. When word of the initiative spread, it received much attention and support from the public. On June 5, the college was officially reorganized as the Taiwan Provincial University of Education, and three colleges - Education, Art, and Science were established. In June 1967, the government, in order to "unify teacher training for standardized assessment and examination" and also to comply with the principle of separate governance of provinces and cities, gave the university permission to become a national institution on the same day that Taipei City came under the direct jurisdiction of the government (July 1). Four colleges - Education, Liberal Arts, Science, and Arts were established. After this expansion, funding was increased, and facilities and equipment were improved. In 1994, the Teacher Education Act was implemented, and the government began to adopt a more diverse policy approach to teacher education. In response to this, NTNU proactively developed itself as a comprehensive university. Apart from affiliated colleges and departments dedicated to teacher training, new colleges were added according to higher education and changing social trends. Currently, there are ten colleges - Education, Arts, Science, Liberal Arts, Technology, Sports and Recreation, International Studies and Education for Overseas Chinese, Music, Management, and Social Sciences and 59 departments/institutes (30 departments, 28 independent graduate institutes, and one Bachelor's degree program). NTNU became a formal and diverse comprehensive university offering courses for many students in Bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Looking to the future, NTNU hopes to add modern technical knowledge to its foundation of extensive culture and tradition to showcase the specialized domains of the University. We will strengthen ourselves internationally, technologically, and commercially so that NTNU alumni can become the rising stars of the future. NTNU can become a world-class comprehensive university with classical values but a modern outlook.

Since its establishment, NKNU has educated many significant contributors to the field of education. With 70% of teachers and education administrators in southern Taiwan having connections to the University, NKNU maintains a critical nexus for education-related research and teacher training. It again proves to be the place that inspires national and regional education reforms. In 1989, the University initiated a second campus in Yan-Chao in order to accommodate its new mission. The campus was inaugurated a year later, and, in 2003, the University's two colleges--the College of Technology and the College of Science--moved to Yan-Chao. Since 2004, the University has been recognized for its merit by the Ministry of Education in the national university evaluation and accreditation. The American Soldier – mentors are replaced by the American civilian teachers, who arrive in the Philippines on August 21, 1901, on board the U.S. Army Transport Thomas. The Philippine Normal School is established, together with primary schools throughout the country. On the secondary level, local regular schools are established as branches of the Philippine Normal School by Section A, Act. No. 74 of the Philippine Commission. Among these traditional schools are those in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Nueva Caceres in Bicol, Iloilo, Cebu, and Cagayan de Misamis in Mindanao. The first Cebu Normal School is at the rented building on Colon St., for which the Cebu provincial government pays the amount of 200 monthly. This building is the old Colegio Logarta, Later known as the Hijos del Pueblo, which stood on the present Gaisano Main Department Store site. The school celebrates its long-delayed centenary (delayed by nine years). As CNU Awards, as conceptualized by Dr. Marcelo Lopez, Chairman of the Museum Council, the Garbo is given to 106 outstanding graduates to celebrate the 106th anniversary of the school's establishment. The occasion also marks the launching of Tulay, the Alumni newsletter. Both have become highlights of the yearly alumni homecoming. CNU in Medellin, another extension campus, is started. The Administrator is Dr. Isabelo Genegaboas. In the same year, Dr. Velasquez retires, and Dr. Marcelo T. Lopez is inaugurated as the third CNU president. Both the College of Teacher Education and the College of Nursing have their programs accredited by the AACCUP (Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines). These CNU colleges pass level IV accreditation, the first among the AACCUP members to do so. The discoveries and discoveries generated through research require that these will be utilized for academic, political, or social development through the university's extension activities(Commission on Higher Education Cebu Normal University, 2000). Cebu Normal University is recognized as one of the leading State Universities and Colleges in the country and considers Teacher Education and its flagship program. CNU is the Center for Development in Education and a National Training provider for education. Moreover, its Nursing program is also recognized as the Center of Excellence in Nursing Education. However, CNU has always been faithful to its mandate as a teaching university. This is integrated into its vision of becoming leading multidisciplinary research in education committed to building a strong nation. The CNU Research Agenda has been developed since last F.Y. 2009. However, this was not associated with the University Extension Agenda. Research and Extension Services in the university were treated as two separate entities and operated independently. A review of the Research and Extension Agenda last July 20, 2015, at Diamond Suites Hotel generated a collective stand of the invited internal and external stakeholders to capitalize on research as the influencing force for an extension to base on. Our mission is "To produce top-performing professionals equipped to engage in knowledge and technology production so necessary to develop a sustainable society." The history of Leyte Normal University dates back to the pre-war years. It came into being in 1921 as the Provincial Normal School, a mere adjunct of the Leyte High School. It eventually outgrew its base, becoming a two-year collegiate training institution in 1938. It became a degree-granting four-year college complete with a training department in 1952. It was then known as Leyte Normal School. On June 14, 1976, it was converted into the Leyte State College by Presidential Decree No. 944, signed by then Pres. Ferdinand Marcos. In 1993, the late Cong. Cirilo Roy Montejo filed House Bill No. 22 in the House of Representatives proposing the college's conversion into a university. This bill was sponsored by former Sen. Letecia Ramos-Shahani in the Senate. On February 23, 1995, the college was converted into the Leyte Normal University through R.A. 7910. Sometime in April 1996, the university was proclaimed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as the Center of Excellence for Teacher Education in Region VIII from 1996 to 2001. In August 2008, CHED again awarded LNU as the Center of Excellence for Teacher Education from 2008 - 2011. The Guidance Office is in- charge of screening and testing student-applicants to the university. It coordinates with the Vice- President for Academic Affairs and the Deans of the Programs concerning the classification, qualifications, testing, and section of student applicants to the university. It also assists the Dean of Student Affairs in the selection of scholarship beneficiaries. Information and Orientation Services provides vocational, educational, and personal- social information that will help the individual become the person he can become by helping him know and appreciate the real-life world of work he will/is expected to function. Information materials are also available at the Guidance Unit for students' use. An orientation program is held annually for all students. Students are oriented and updated on the university's policies and guidelines, programs, scholarships, and student services. LNU administrators, faculty, and personnel are also introduced. Scholarships and Financial Aids are made available to offer students financial assistance and help them financially in their studies. Scholarships offered may be academic, non-academic, government-funded, or privately funded. An individual inventory is a developmental and longitudinal process of collecting, recording, evaluating, and interpreting data to identify the characteristics of the potential of every client. The data can be used in proper diagnoses, predicting progress and behaviors, accurate placement, and program evaluation. However, the confidentiality of the information given by the individual is assured. Counseling is the heart of the guidance services, which helps students/clients attain optimum growth and development through self-understanding, sound decision-making, and self-direction. This is done through individual and group counseling. This may be done through walk-in, making an appointment, or through a referral. Follow- up is an integral part of the developmental process, which locates and assists students with academic deficiency cope with academic demands. Further, it helps determine the status of the person who received assistance and what other assistance must be rendered so that the service is complete and holistic. A referral is another integral part of the services offered by the Guidance Unit. It is art taken by persons within the institutions (e.g., teachers, administrators, parents, and other students) who see that a particular person needs counselor assistance. It also refers to helping clients find needed expert assistance that the referring authority cannot provide. Placement helps the individual bridge the gap which students face as they move from one educational ladder or from one role to another, progressing toward the stage of full occupational maturity. Students with special needs are given importance. They are being helped manage their deficiencies, reduce their effects, and recover/ accept it. Thus, they are given more priority about the services offered by the Guidance Office.

The CNU College of Nursing is recognized by CHED as a Center of Excellence, while the College of Teacher Education is declared as a Center of Development. Guided with the agreements on ASEAN 2015, Millennium Development Goals, and the National Higher Education Research Agenda, these updated university research and extension agenda were conceived. 14. View full university
