  2. Mount Mercy University, located in beautiful Cedar Rapids, Iowa, offers students a fulfilling education, promising people of all backgrounds solid preparation for a changing world. Our 1,800+ students come from around the globe, creating a vibrant, diverse, and open-minded campus community. Established on five critical concerns — earth, immigration, nonviolence, racism, and women — Mount Mercy’s curriculum guides students to explore and work towards a more just, equal, and peaceful world. Hands-on work often accompanies classroom learning, giving students the experience needed to start their careers with confidence in a variety of newly-developed skills and knowledge. Mount Mercy was founded on academic excellence, offering students a values-based curriculum. The university’s accomplished faculty is easily accessible with a faculty/student ratio of 15:1. Students are often involved in faculty-led research and career-oriented internships with local, national, and global organizations. Focused on outcomes, 96% of MMU alumni are employed or in graduate school within nine months of graduation. With 74% of alumni residing in Iowa and 44% living in Linn County, students have a close-knit network of professionals to engage with. Housed on a hill nestled in Cedar Rapids’ historical Mound View neighborhood, Mount Mercy’s main campus is safe, charming, and full of life. With over 30 on-campus clubs and organizations, students can connect with others who share similar values and interests. The university’s strong Campus Ministry culture engages students and encourages exploration of faith through daily Mass, spiritual direction, reflection groups, service-learning, and volunteer opportunities. A forward-thinking undergraduate curriculum, in-demand graduate programs, and the region’s most successful accelerated program have led Mount Mercy to be recognized as a distinguished institution and national leader within the Conference for Mercy Higher Education. Mount Mercy is a Catholic University that provides student-focused education in the spirit of the Sisters of Mercy and welcomes people of all beliefs to join our community to pursue baccalaureate and graduate education and compassionate service to those in need. All Mount Mercy students are invited to consider their options for education abroad. Studying abroad can increase your global awareness, provide personal growth opportunities, enhance your academic learning, and offer you new professional contacts and prospects. Programs can be as short as a week or as long as an academic year, and subjects studied abroad can range from biology to marketing to literature. Also, to study abroad programs, students can investigate internship, volunteer, and work abroad opportunities. At Mount Mercy, students of all ages and interests — undergraduate, graduate, and accelerated students — join together to create an active, welcoming campus community bound by a heartfelt commitment to doing well in the classroom, building rewarding lives and prosperous careers, and truly making a difference in the world. It is easy to get involved at Mount Mercy. You can join more than 30 student clubs and organizations like our nationally ranked Enactus team, the Mount Mercy Times, the International Club, or the Student Government Association. And you can participate in time-honored events and activities, like the Thanksgiving Dress Dinner, Vegas Night, and Spring Fling. A successful Mount Mercy student is confident, caring, quick to lend a hand, happy with who they are, and excited about where they are going. Our students come from wildly different backgrounds. Some are fresh out of rural high schools, while others are returning to college after decades in the workforce. What they have in common is a desire to realize their full potential — to live up to higher expectations and a higher calling. Mount Mercy is an institution that offers diverse academic opportunities for traditional, transfer, accelerated, and graduate students. We continue to be a faith-guided, academics-focused institution, carrying on the Catholic intellectual tradition and values established by our founders, the Sisters of Mercy. A small, active campus like Mount Mercy’s is the ideal place to build leadership skills. Each of our more than 25 clubs and organizations needs a president, vice president, and secretary. Service trips need team leaders. Residence halls need activity coordinators, residence advisors, and midnight ping pong tournament organizers. The Sisters of Mercy established Mount Mercy Junior College in 1928 to fill a need – the need to unite people with opportunity through high quality, values-based education. Mount Mercy flourished as a junior college and continued to have success as a four-year institution. Over the years, Mount Mercy has added new programs and curriculum that were reflective of the original institution's mission and values. Today, Mount Mercy University’s available course offerings are tailored to meet the needs of those who live and work around campus in our founders' same spirit.

The Sisters of Mercy understood the importance of hospital care and the need for well-prepared nurses. The Sisters of Mercy enrolled their first class of ten student nurses between June and December of 1918 just as the Spanish Influenza struck the Toledo community. The nursing program provided a vehicle through which the educational mission of the Sisters of Mercy was promoted. Today, Mercy College is sponsored by Mercy Health as it continues the mission of healthcare education through land-based and online classes in a variety of fields, inspired by the legacy sponsorship of the Sisters of Mercy, the Sisters of Charity of Montréal (Grey Nuns), and the Sisters of Humility of Mary.
  4. Our students are among the best and brightest, coming from many different backgrounds, cultures and experiences. They become nurses, physical therapist assistants, radiologic technologists, surgical technologists, medical assistants, diagnostic medical sonographers, paramedics and leaders in healthcare administration. With the addition of our Bachelor of Science in Health Science, we are now helping to prepare students for the many health science careers requiring graduate study. In its first four years, our pre-graduate-study program has successfully placed 70 percent of our students in graduate education programs leading to careers in medicine, education, and public health. We’re blessed with faculty members who understand and live our core values – knowledge, reverence, integrity, compassion, and excellence – and are committed to creating a caring environment conducive to learning. They are highly motivated and skilled healthcare practitioners comfortable in the latest technology and evidenced-based practices in their specialty area of healthcare and skilled educators ready to help you learn. Our fulltime liberal arts and sciences faculty members are Ph.D.-prepared and adept at integrating their subject matter into a comprehensive health science curriculum. Our alumni go everywhere and are among the best in their field. They embark upon healthcare careers across the nation and around the world. They also stay right here in Iowa to take care of those within our own community. You might be surprised to learn that in addition to regional accreditation by The Higher Learning Commission, we maintain professional program accreditations with nine additional accrediting bodies in the United States. Our efforts today are a direct reflection of the work of a dedicated group of religious women, the Religious Sisters of Mercy (RSM), who arrived in Des Moines in 1893 to establish the city’s first hospital. Six years later they needed more help, so they launched an educational program that now embodies Mercy College of Health Sciences. We are so proud of our association with the legacy that the Sisters have passed on to us and hold firmly to the core values they cherish. To be a national leader for excellence in the delivery and innovation of health sciences education. Mercy College of Health Sciences prepares graduates for service and leadership in the healthcare community by integrating its core values with a professional and liberal arts and sciences education.

Please encourage students to attain the beliefs, values, attitudes, knowledge, skills, and practices which will enable them to achieve their full potential as human persons. Ensure that the care and development of each person take place within the Catholic faith community. Students should see Catholic values actively lived in the school rather than merely spoken of and experience them insincere interpersonal relationships. Seek to empower students to achieve their potential as our gift to God. In school, the students will be encouraged to learn and respect others' right to learn. The school will also give the students every opportunity to experience the consequence of their actions. 16. Divine Mercy College aims to bring education and faith together in partnership with the family, church, and the school community. We aim to provide a quality Catholic education focused on the core values of faith, academics, service, and personal development from preschool and throughout high school to influence a rapidly changing world. Please encourage students to attain the beliefs, values, attitudes, knowledge, skills, and practices which will enable them to achieve their full potential as human persons. The College community's concern will be students' integrated development as Catholic men and women – as responsible, inner-directed individuals of Catholic virtue, capable of free choice and making value judgments enlightened by a formed conscience that follows Jesus. Divine Mercy College strives to provide a well-balanced curriculum focusing on academic, spiritual, physical, and moral values. Priority is given to systematic and structured education following the West Australian Curriculum. We believe every child is a valued member of the school's community and deserves the very best in all areas of human development. To attract and retain quality teachers, staff, and administrators who support the DMC mission. To encourage the whole person's development by providing access to a wide range of cultural, academic activities. Divine Mercy College strives to provide students with positive learning experiences. Be concerned with the nurturing and well-being of all who impact the school community. The school's pastoral dimension will show itself in the mutual respect, care, and support administrators and staff show towards each other, as well as through the care they all show for their students. From the pastoral dimension of the whole school life, students learn their value and dignity. To recognize that no student can learn unless the environment is inclusive, safe, orderly, and stimulating. To encourage cooperation among the church, school, home, and the community essential to the educational process. To recognize and address the different challenges and opportunities of all educational levels available through the College. To encourage cooperation among Primary School and High School and all educational levels collaborating when possible.
