It is our honor and pleasure to initiate the first Women University in Azad Jammu and Kashmir at Bagh. We, earnestly endeavor to cultivate talent exploration and women's education to give a balance in thinking and working to our society and ultimately to our nation. The first year of our active proceedings is blissful in the sense that eight (8) programs in BS eight (8) in Masters and six (6) in M. Phil. are functional with great confidence and meritorious grounds, leading towards a world-standard education level, rather excelling that with time. Women youth is marvelously active to work and expose their hidden talents with an immeasurable zeal which is very encouraging for society today. Our acquaintance with the modern trends in the field of education will give us scientific, economic, and social backup to keep pace with the world around us. We believe that the real uplift of women is an exploration of their talent to travel with a vision in the walk of life and crystallize our aspirations for the coming generations. Our religion assures us that paradise is under the feet of mothers, then why not the world under the feet of their children? We are well aware of the importance of female education that is why an exclusive Women University was established with the purpose to provide educational opportunities in an environment where even conservative families would send their daughters for education. The university is a very short time has established its mark as a premier seat of learning in the area and the administration team and faculty members deserve recognition. Female education will ensure their active participation in the national economic development. The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is pursuing its mission to deliver quality education to young students. University, despite its young age and financial constraints, has been able to attain a good ranking among national universities. Everyone is working in an atmosphere conducive to learning and research activities. The University is striving hard to achieve a prominent position at national and international levels by creating a dynamic educational environment. Having established as the premier institution of Higher Education in 1980, the University of Azad Jammu& Kashmir (UAJK) has completed another year of its journey towards academic excellence. The University is a multi-campus and multi-discipline institution established to cater to the higher educational needs of the people of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and the adjoining areas of Pakistan. We are committed to providing quality education to students across the state of AJK and Pakistan regardless of their ethnic, economic, or social background. The UK is offering educational and research opportunities in 72-degree programs both at Undergraduate and Graduate levels. The scientific laboratories, updated libraries, and furnished classrooms along with peaceful and conducive atmosphere help in carrying out intellectual grooming of the students. The University is conspicuous on the academic horizon by arranging conferences, seminars, and workshops. The UK is quite responsive to national issues and causes. Hence international conferences, seminars such as “Kashmir in the Emerging Global Perspective (2011)” and “Qafila-e-Yakjehti Kashmir (2016)” were arranged to highlight the plight of human suffering in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK). The University of AJK is also involved in developing collaborative linkages with national and international institutions. In this regard, Memoranda of Understanding have been signed with several organizations. The MoU for the establishment of the Turkish Language and Culture Centre has already been signed while the establishment of Arabic and Chinese languages Chairs are in process. The construction of the King Abdullah Campus at Chattar Klass is underway and with its completion, we will have state-of-the-art infrastructure to provide facilities to the faculty and students. The main campus is a spectral combination of the faculty of Sciences & Engineering, Health & Medical Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities. The faculty of Sciences includes the academic Departments of Botany, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Zoology and the Institute of Geology and faculty of Engineering includes the Software Engineering and Electrical Engineering, While the Kashmir Institute of Economics, Institute of Economics, Institute of Kashmir Studies, Institute of Education and the Department of Art and design, Business Administration and Psychology form the Humanities and Social Sciences Group. Also located at the main campus are the Lincoln Corner and a high–tech Physics lab. The Neelum Campus of UAJK located at the district headquarters of Athmuqam was established in September 2013 by launching an undergraduate degree program in English, computer sciences, and information technology. On August 01, 2015, the Jhelum valley campus was established at Hattian Bala by offering undergraduate BS degree programs in the academic discipline of English, Education, and Computer Sciences.
