  2. The New Horizon International School was established in 1993 to serve as a contribution to the society in Cairo - Egypt, providing young learners with educational continuity and a school philosophy which, extends beyond the conventional realm of education. Talented children prosper and all children receive professional guidance to reach their full potential. Above all, every student is allowed to attain the highest achievement standards and thus become a competent member of the community and the international pool of intellectual talent. The New Horizon International School is an English medium institute, established to serve the multinational society in Cairo-Egypt. The school hosts from Kindergarten levels through Secondary years, offering British and Egyptian curricula, up through the IGCSE and the Egyptian National Certificate for Secondary Education programs. The school faculty, facilities, and resources provide all students with the opportunity to achieve the highest educational and intellectual standards. Our National Department comprises Kindergarten (two levels), Primary (six levels), and Preparatory (three levels). The National Department follows a curriculum that is provided in English by the Ministry of Education in Egypt. Students have the opportunity to enter the Core IG program after successfully finishing the Preparatory 2 level. Students may then enter the IGCSE Department for three years and will receive an IGCSE qualification. French is offered from Primary Two as a second foreign language. Our International Department follows the British curriculum preparing students for the IGCSE. The International Department starts at the Reception level up to Lower Senior Two, accounting for 10 years of schooling. After Lower Senior Two, students who successfully pass will continue onto the Core IG program preparing them to obtain their IGCSE qualification. Egyptian students must complete their studies in Arabic, Religion, and Social Studies subjects as provided by the Egyptian National curriculum. French as a second language is tutored from the Reception class. Art, craft, and design are encouraged at New Horizon and we engage our students in the highest forms of human creativity. Our program inspires our students and equips them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their works of art, craft, and design. Design techniques and the biography and works of great artists and craft makers are an integral part of their sessions. They also learn how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity, and wealth of every nation. The computing education offered at New Horizon equips students to use computational thinking and creativity. Since computing has deep links with mathematics, science and design, and technology, it provides insights into both natural and artificial systems. Students are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. School graduates become problem solvers and digitally literate – able to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas through, information and communication technology – at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world. Also, they become familiar with and use the applications to create their presentations and videos. Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. New Horizon School provides a high-quality music education that inspires students to develop a love of music and to explore their talent as musicians. Through music and song, their self-confidence, creativity, and sense of achievement develop further. Students perform, listen to, review, and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles, and traditions, including the works of great composers and musicians. They are given the opportunity during their sessions to understand and explore how music is created, produced, and communicated, including through the interrelated dimensions: pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure, and appropriate musical notations. We emphasize the relationship between learning and well-being and therefore take a special interest in inspiring all students to engage and participate in competitive sport and physical training including yoga practice. New Horizon provides opportunities for students to become physically confident in a way that supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to lead healthy and active lives to enhance character-building and help to embed values such as respect and teamwork.
  3. We are a Foundation to Year 12, co-educational Christian School situated in the rural township of Balaklava. At Horizon, we understand that your child’s education is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. We seek to provide our students with quality education, Christ-centered core values, and life skills that will provide them with the foundation for future success in all that they pursue. Australia needs young men and women who have grown up in a secure but challenging environment with biblical values that last. In a rapidly changing world, which places increasingly complex demands on the individual, there is a need for young men and women who can be leaders and stand up for what they know is right. Our children must have knowledge, flexibility, and determination to succeed. We want them to be young men and women with love in their hearts, caring concern for others, and the character to achieve whatever goals they might set for themselves. Among the young people who have this capacity will be those who have learned to respect themselves and others and to love God and their fellow human beings. Horizon Christian School aims to develop students’ values and leadership potential in a caring and Christian environment through committed Christian teachers’ work. We also encourage positive attitudes toward staff, schoolwork, and life in general. We foster the development of close associations with parents regarding their child’s progress at school. Horizon Christian School cares about its students being able to grow up with positive values to be fine citizens of the Kingdom of God in Australia. Our school aims to: Provide a curriculum, which is its basis, direction, and structure gives expression to the Christian view of life. Foster a cooperative and beneficial relationship between children, family, and teachers and the Christian and wider community Encourage the development of Christian attitudes, respect for others, caring, sharing, and tolerance Develop the spiritual, social, academic, and physical potential of each child fully Provide a caring environment to encourage appreciation of learning and creativity Assist in the development of knowledge and understanding needed for future study and community involvement Teach students to think and work independently and cooperatively and learn practical communication skills Give recognition and approval to all degrees of improvement and achievement as well as the attainment of excellence. Foster a joy of living Horizon Christian School began in 1994 at its temporary site in the Balaklava Church of Christ facilities with 27 students. In the first school term of 1994, the students moved into the first building at the Gwy Terrace site. A requirement for new non-government schools in 1994 was that 50 students were an absolute minimum number required to secure any State or Commonwealth Government funding. The last student enrolment was welcomed to Horizon on the last day possible to achieve this 50 student milestone by midyear census in 1994. The school steadily grew from strength to strength, and its secondary enrolment began in 2001. Horizon Christian School is now registered as a Reception to Year 12 School with approximately 400 students.
  4. The contemporary world requires our students to have a broader range of sophistication and skills than it has ever required. In a world that is continuously becoming even more interconnected and globalized, new skills are required to be a successful global citizen. These skills include communication, collaboration, critical thinking, risk-taking, intercultural awareness, international-mindedness, and life-long learning. We hope you will get a sense of how HJIS is a great place to learn and develop these essential skills. Horizon is a remarkable learning environment in which individuals from over 33 nationalities teach, learn, and grow every day. Our students are given unique opportunities to explore and help them prosper as they grow. Our school provides an education that combines high academic standards with a genuinely international personal perspective and good character. We have a carefully blended curriculum of the IB Diploma Programme, Cambridge Curricula, adapted UK frameworks, and the Japanese Curriculum. The Curricula provide a rigorous, comprehensive educational program preparing our students for the next phase of their education and equipping them with the required skills and qualifications to be fruitful members of their communities. This challenging education occurs in an ideal learning environment at both our Yokohama and the Sendai Campuses. On these campuses, the students can focus on their academics and develop strategies for making a real difference in the lives of their own and their communities. As an authorized IB World School, Horizon students in PreSchool level through Upper School follow the internationally recognized standards and practices governed by the International Baccalaureate Organization®(IB) in Geneva, Switzerland. Founded in 1966, the IB assures authorized World Schools meet international benchmarks for quality education. IB educators are specially trained to develop the student's natural curiosity. On 1 February 2016, 5,578 IB programs were being offered worldwide, across 4,335 schools in 136 countries and 76 languages. The IB organization uses the talents of educators worldwide to update Curriculum, train educators continuously, and evaluate programs. The IB pedagogy inspires exemplary teaching and learning. The ability to think critically, work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and solve complex problems distinguishes graduates of IB World Schools. The International Baccalaureate® (IB) is more than its educational programs and certificates. IB's reputation for quality comes from the organization's ability to work with partners and involve all stakeholders, particularly students, parents, and educators. Through these partnerships, the IB promotes intercultural understanding and respect, not as an alternative to a sense of cultural and national identity, but as an essential part of life. The IB Learner Profile demonstrates the personal and educational attributes students, educators, and IB communities intentionally develop. They represent our School Mission Statement and the International Baccalaureate Organization®Mission Statement in action. In addition to the classrooms, our modern facilities include a Lunch Room, a Multi-Purpose Room for drama some other activities and presentations, a Music Room, a Computer Lab, a Science Lab, an Art Room, two Japanese Rooms, a Math Room, a Resource Room, an EALRoom, a Library, and a Gymnasium. The support programs include individual attention and group activities to promote academic achievement, facilitate post-secondary planning, and foster personal growth and interpersonal relationships. The EAL program's objective is to enable the inclusion of the EAL students in the mainstream class. We are proud of the quality of EAL support we provide to our students. Although students are required to have a certain level of English proficiency according to the year level, they are applying to enter. We work with our EAL team in cooperation with the homeroom teachers to enable the EAL students' transition into the mainstream class. Extracurricular activities are regarded as ongoing activities that aim at providing opportunities to improve on the areas of the students' interests. Therefore, while these opportunities address a range of interest to the students, the number of activities is kept to a minimum so the school can provide more specialized education. Horizon Japan International School, Summer School program, is designed to provide children with opportunities to enrich their language skills and socialize with new friends through various enjoyable activities. Students will focus on a variety of activities such as language art games, art, drama, outdoor activities, group games, and projects in the program's relaxed academic environment. 6. There are many countries, with different cultures and customs, languages and values, which exist in this world. Children will live in this world where they will be required to understand each other’s values, respect them and look for ways to live together and collaborate. We would like to raise Japanese children as “Global Citizens”. To achieve this goal, we believe that our children should develop an appreciation of their Japanese identity, strong academic skills, language skills in both Japanese and English, information handling skills, and understanding and respect for other cultures. At Horizon Sendai Primary School, we provide an exceptional educational environment by implementing an English immersion program, promoting global understanding, enhancing information handling activities, and language expression activities to educate the global citizens of tomorrow. We strongly believe that our children will grow into the global leaders of tomorrow, as well as being individuals we can all be proud of. The mission of Horizon Gakuen, as a multicultural and diverse learning community, is to provide students with a high-quality international education and a lifelong passion for academic, social, and personal success in a safe, supportive, challenging, non-discriminatory, and responsive environment that promotes self-discipline, motivation, and excellence. Inspire its students to strive for excellence in all aspects of their development: academic, artistic, social, and physical by providing the best possible learning environment which combines a well-balanced curriculum with extra-curricular activities. Our facilities are surrounded by lush green, tranquil scenery and in an environment where children can play contentedly. Our school building resembles a fairy-tale-like castle that has an enchanting charm. We try to create a fun-filled atmosphere. Our bus routes cover most of the Sendai central area. Routes are arranged as new students are enrolled. Also, there is a bus after 6 pm for daycare users. School lunch will be provided through Shokuiku Food Systems Tohoku which is specialized in kindergarten school lunches!

  22. View full school
  23. View full school
