About Me

  1. Oregon Episcopal School offers an inquiry-based education that prepares students for higher education and lifelong learning. We are a community of learners in which excellent faculty engage small groups of students to foster their curiosity and inspire them to cultivate their power to do good work in the world. Among the woodlands, wetlands, and wildlife of the hills of Southwest Portland lies the unique educational experience that is Oregon Episcopal School. The school occupies a 59-acre campus where 870 students in Pre-K– Grade 12 share an excellent faculty, a college preparatory curriculum, and a strong community sense. Offering a dedicated liberal arts curriculum, OES is dedicated to scholarship and an enriched academic environment of "learning by doing" that strives to help each individual reach his or her fullest potential. Small classes provide intimate learning environments that allow teachers to instill a love for learning and the joy of discovery in each student. Learn more about our Academic philosophy and Essential Competencies. The oldest Episcopal school west of the Rockies, OES values developing the spirit and the mind. Though steeped in Episcopal heritage and tradition, the school welcomes students of all beliefs. We provide instruction about all major faiths and encourage individuals to discover their spiritual path. Learn more about our Episcopal tradition. For those of you who are exploring OES for the first time, we are pleased you are interested. First and foremost, we are a community. As a Pre-K through 12th-grade school, we partner closely with families through these great years' growth and development. We know our students and families well—which is why we can support them so thoroughly through the adventures of Lower, Middle, and Upper School. For almost 150 years, OES has educated students, preparing them for higher education and a life engaged in learning, service, and engagement. We succeed because of a remarkable faculty and an innovative, inquiry-based program. In the Episcopal educational tradition, OES is committed to high academic standards, coupled with a commitment to our students' artistic, physical, spiritual, social, and emotional growth. We gather each week as a community, guided by our chaplains. We commit substantial time to our service-learning programs, giving back to the school and our local, regional, and global communities. The intellectual journey is at the heart of the OES experience. We believe children learn by doing, and we use inquiry as a driver for learning from our earliest grades. In our Middle and Upper Schools, this evolves into an emphasis on research and performance. This emphasis crosses disciplines—from science to history to world languages. Our goal is to develop habits of work and habits of mind in our students to prepare them for the world they will be entering. Our success is reflected in the many graduates who return to campus to tell us of their comfort and success in college, the workforce, and ultimately in their communities. As an Episcopal school, we are rooted in the values of compassion for our human family, the strength of dialogue to promote understanding, and a commitment to inclusion. Our Episcopal roots further challenge us to create an environment—both within and beyond our school—that recognizes and values each person has lived experiences and where everyone thrives and is known. Oregon Episcopal School prepares students for higher education and lifelong learning by inspiring intellectual, physical, social, emotional, artistic, and spiritual growth so that they may realize their power for good as citizens of local and world communities.
  2. At Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, students benefit from the continuity of an academically challenging, college preparatory curriculum that spans preschool through 12th grade. Founded and sustained in the Episcopal tradition, the school's environment reflects Christian values' joy and peace, emphasizing educating the whole child – mind, body, and spirit. Students who "Start Here" build a strong foundation of skills and are prepared to "Go Anywhere" – in college, career, and life. We strive to foster spiritual formation in a grace-filled and inclusive manner. That "inclusive manner" is a distinguishing hallmark of the Anglican approach to education over many centuries. We are Christian, our spiritual underpinnings rooted in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and the belief that God loves each of us and desires to be in a relationship with us. The Holy Bible informs and guides our experience as a community of faith in regular chapel services and the Holy Eucharist's monthly celebrations. The Episcopal Book of Common Prayer provides the liturgical framework for our worship services. Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy is a private day school for students in preschool through high school. While all students and faculty attend our school chapel services, we desire that all persons of all denominations, non-Christian faith traditions, or of no religious tradition feel embraced, respected, and valued. All are invited to participate actively in our worship services. We encourage all who attend or work at Holy Trinity to seek clarity about their own beliefs and religions and to honor those traditions more fully and faithfully in their own lives. We want everyone at our school to build lives of genuine meaning, purpose, and service in the world they will inherit. A spiritual foundation is essential to such a life. Accordingly, we believe we were created to: Be a community that honors, celebrates, and worships God as the center of life. Be a model of God's love and grace. Serve God in Christ in all persons, regardless of origin, background, ability, or religion. Strive for justice and peace among all people and to respect the dignity of every human being. To further support our commitment to providing the best in technology education for our students, we provide third through sixth graders with the option to take a coding class one day a week during their P.E. time, in addition to the computer science already included in their curricula. We also offer TEAM (Tigers Excel at Media) classes for our fifth and 6th graders. TEAM skills include mobile application development, computer programming (coding) keyboarding, 3-D printing, laser cutting, creating digital presentations, and the responsible use of digital media. Sixth graders who choose to participate in the Enrichment Wheel instead of taking Beginner Band may enroll in a Media Class as one of their choices. Here, they learn to create and edit digital images, work with digital audio, and create high-quality video productions. Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, a school, founded and sustained in the Episcopal tradition, offers an academically challenging curriculum in an environment that reflects Christian values' joy and peace. We welcome motivated students of average and above-average ability from any religious, racial, social, or ethnic group. Each student and family is encouraged by competent faculty and staff to participate fully in the academic community's spiritual, athletic, artistic, and social life. As our students grow to appreciate their value to themselves and the school community, they will leave Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy with valuable tools for effective learning and living. The Board of Trustees, students, faculty, staff, and families of Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy share the vision of an academic community based on the love of God, self-respect, respect for one's neighbors, and respect for God's creation, thus fostering moral and ethical decision-making throughout the entire community. The Holy Trinity community affirms this commitment by demonstrating a strong work ethic, embracing others' uniqueness, encouraging a spirit of cooperation, and promoting a sense of fair play. Our experienced and highly qualified administration and faculty create an atmosphere that instills a lifelong love of learning, combining a challenging college-preparatory curriculum with a supportive and nurturing environment. We achieve our prep school promise by combining traditional academic standards with modern approaches to learning, allowing students to gain success and learn the adaptability skills that are frequently changing, the technology-based world demands. Holy Trinity students have all the benefits of accelerated learning without the pressures that often accompany it. Daily Episcopal chapel service, robust offerings in the arts and athletics, and extracurricular activities develop and nurture the whole child – mind, body, and spirit. They are empowered to reach their fullest potential while developing confidence that will endure throughout their lives. Lower School Address: 50 West Strawbridge Avenue, Florida Postal Code: 32901
  3. Holy Innocents' is one of the nation's largest Episcopal schools, enrolling 1,360 students in grades PK3-12. Here, in a uniquely vibrant learning community filled with encouragement and every potential opportunity, students can explore their talents, pursue their passions, and achieve their full potential. At HIES, you won't be just a scholar or athlete or artist – you can be all of these and more. Come to HIES. Explore your interests. Engage your talents. Discover the best in you. Holy Innocents' Episcopal School offers an educational program encompassing academics, arts, athletics, and spiritual formation. Through opportunities to grow intellectually, spiritually, physically, and emotionally, students develop their worth and dignity. The challenging academic program prepares students for higher education and emphasizes learning as a pathway toward ethical leadership and a commitment to the common good. The school provides a welcoming and supportive environment, embraces the differences inherent in a diverse community, and embodies the inclusive Episcopal tradition of respect for others' beliefs. Holy Innocents' is an active community of faith engaged in local, national, and international service to others. We pride ourselves on being a deeply caring, diverse, and inclusive community where all are truly welcome. As the proud parent of three Holy Innocents' students, We know firsthand the benefits and blessings of having your child in a school that recognizes and celebrates each person's inherent worth and dignity. Holy Innocents' education is about much more than academics. Thanks to our school's plentiful opportunities and an encouraging, supportive faculty, students of all ages learn to take chances and seek out new challenges. They join various clubs, athletic teams, performing arts groups, service organizations, and more to learn about themselves, explore their talents, and discover new interests and passions. So Holy Innocents' students are not scholars or athletes or artists or servant-leaders; instead, they are all of these things and more. In an age of ever-increasing specialization, we seek to develop Renaissance students equipped to meet the complex, interconnected world's wide-ranging needs. As a community, we encourage participation in various academic and interscholastic activities to expand each student's sense of self, purpose, and potential and foster a spirit of respect and open-mindedness. Our graduates take this deep sense of community with them and build the same sense of community in their own families, neighborhoods, and workplaces. All independent schools have virtually the same mission: to prepare students to succeed in college. But an Episcopal education goes deeper, instilling not just skills and knowledge but values as well. Inclusiveness, compassion, kindness, integrity – these are values that are taught, modeled, and instilled across our school life. Respectful of all persons and all faith traditions, ours is a uniquely diverse and close community. Here, we are many. Here, we are one. The Primary School serves as the educational incubator for the HIES student. A student with a global mind, academically prepared for success in school, college, and beyond, a global heart with a sense of empathy for others in our neighborhoods, the country, and the world, and with global hands ready to serve and make a difference. When young students walk through our doors, they know they are in a place where they are known and loved. With a rigorous curriculum and a lot of love and guidance, we help them have their Best Start to becoming confident, courageous learners. They are eager to engage. They are ready to be challenged. Their eyes are wide open – excited to be at school! HIES is committed to the integration of technology in the classroom and throughout the educational environment. Technology instruction itself is incorporated into the curriculum and not taught in isolation. The HIES faculty has identified Baseline Technology Skills for each division and works to ensure that these needs are met. Technology is integrated into the curriculum in a variety of ways. In addition to general computer skills classes, each division incorporates various activities into specific subject areas. Examples include projects utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, and multi-media presentations. HIES students also participate in statistical analysis, video production, desktop publishing, digital photography, and various other activities. Students in grades five and above are issued Apple MacBook Air laptops for their personal use at school and home. Students in Primary School through 4th grade have access to iPad labs. HIES has a high-speed internet connection with wireless access throughout the campus. Also, the school has several traditional computer labs for instruction and multiple areas with computer stations for student use. All classrooms are outfitted with interactive whiteboards and projectors.
  4. You’ll quickly discover that an Episcopal education is as rich as the human experience. Our students are intellectual, physical, creative, and spiritual beings who strive for happiness and a higher purpose our school reflects and encourages these essential, complementary pursuits. Our faculty and staff are a nurturing and innovative team. They are passionate classroom teachers and so much more as they mentor, coach, and direct those in their care. Their students’ academic success is not only measured by impressive college acceptance rates, but moreover by the grit, curiosity, and compassion that creates lifelong learners and much-needed leaders. Weekly chapel services, honor education, and a strong tradition of community service uphold the call to “respect the dignity of every human being” as we contemplate our place in the world. From the newly broken ground at the Knight Campus to the recently renovated Bryan Library, from the soaring voices and stained glass in the Davis Chapel to buildings and conversations in the round at Parks and Lastinger Halls, our beautiful campus provides an inspiring environment in which to grow. Our home on the St. John’s River hums with life as our calendar overflows with academic opportunities, athletic competitions, and artistic endeavors, while our burgeoning International Studies program takes students far and wide to explore other cultures and further discover themselves. After Commencement, a tight-knit alumni community continues to enjoy the Episcopal experience through school-supported programs and networking events around the nation. Career advise, internship opportunities, and connections between alumni of all ages are encouraged. Your student might leave campus, but Episcopal never leaves your student, even after graduation. As our global network of alumni says, “Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle!” The school's traditional liberal arts curriculum prepares the college-bound student by focusing on effective communications, critical thinking, problem-solving and technical skills. The same quest for excellence that drives our academic program shapes our commitment to programs in athletics, the arts, our spiritual life, and our dedication to service to others. These areas of campus life form the Four Pillars to which the school is dedicated. Through the opportunities the Four Pillars provide, students may experience not only the self-discipline and exertion of a competitive sport, but also the development and growth of their creative talents, the deepening of their faith, and a lifelong desire to serve others. The school's faculty displays an outstanding academic background, excellent character, and dedication to the overall well-being of the students. Episcopal employs more than 100 faculty members, all of whom have four-year degrees or higher – 65% have graduate degrees, and 3% have earned a Ph.D. Annually, Episcopal invests heavily in professional development and training for faculty and staff, ensuring best practices and innovative teaching methods are continually incorporated into our classrooms. The faculty affirms the ultimate worth of each student to form healthy self-esteem and respect for others. Episcopal is committed to small class sizes and an environment that is safe, achievement-oriented, supportive, and positive. The student-to-teacher ratio at Episcopal is 10:1 the average class size is 17. The school enrolls approximately 890 total students in grades 6-12. Middle School (grades six through eight) enrolls more than 300 students Upper School (grades nine through twelve) enrolls more than 500 students. The mission of Episcopal School of Jacksonville is to provide a superior college-preparatory education in an environment marked by high expectations, Christian nurture, and social diversity. Through a balanced program of academics, arts, and athletics, Episcopal’s faculty seeks to instill in each student intellectual growth, character development, responsible leadership, and a commitment to community service. Episcopal currently offers students the opportunity to participate in a diverse selection of International Programs. These include exchange programs with schools in Spain and France, academically based programs abroad in China, Italy, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and service trips. Our goal is that the opportunity to participate in study or conduct service abroad will lay a solid foundation for students to become engaged global citizens in today’s increasingly complex world. Our academically focused programs are tied to the ESJ curriculum, and their development is faculty-driven. The goal of these programs is to immerse students in each country’s culture to generate an awareness and understanding of the differences and similarities to our own while connecting their day-to-day experiences with the academic focus of the program. Our commitment to developing students as servant leaders inspires our service trips to other countries. A mission trip to Romania gives students the opportunity for immersion in another culture as well as spiritual development through service to others.

We live out our mission by offering healthy, balanced programs in academics, arts, athletics, and spirituality, allowing our students to find their passions and give back to the world. Episcopal schools are Christian communities whose missions integrate spiritual formation into all educational experience gracefully and inclusively. Even the most diverse Episcopal schools are created to be communities that honor, celebrate, and worship God as the center of life. We are created to be models of God's love and grace. We are created to serve God in Christ in all persons, regardless of origin, background, ability, or religion. We are created to "strive for justice and peace among all people and [to] respect the dignity of every human being." However, Episcopal schools have been established not solely as communities for Christians, like a parish church, but as diverse educational and human development institutions for people of all faiths and backgrounds. Episcopal schools are populated by various human beings from increasingly diverse religious, cultural, and economic backgrounds. By weaving the principles of meaningful school worship, rich community life, foundational religious education, and striving for social justice into the very fabric of the school's overall life, Episcopal schools ensure that we challenge all who attend our schools to build lives of genuine meaning, purpose, and service in the world they will inherit. Episcopal's mission focuses our program on five areas of growth: spiritual, intellectual, moral, physical, and artistic, with the end goal of developing young women and men of character who seek to live "purposeful lives." We believe that there are many paths toward a life of purpose, and choosing the right path is a deeply personal and joyful journey. The faculty and staff at Episcopal help guide and encourage our students as they explore the possibilities, seek their passion, and search for the next step in their education. Welcome to Episcopal High School, a co-educational, college prep experience that stokes boundless potential with unlimited opportunity. For more than 30 years, we have set the standard in helping students realize their promise. We do that by challenging you to see things in bold, new ways. Here, you will discover everything you can do and everything you are meant to be. Episcopal High School is an institution of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, established to provide a superior education in preparation for college and meaningful life after that. Through a rich offering of academic, spiritual, artistic, and athletic programs, the School provides each student with an opportunity to reach their maximum spiritual, intellectual, social, and ethical potential. Operating as a Christian community within the beliefs and traditions of the Episcopal Church, EHS in its teaching philosophy emphasizes understanding and responding to the individual needs and capabilities of each student. To reflect the community we serve, EHS strives to maintain a student body representing social, economic, ethnic, and academic diversity. Like all family systems, EHS has established those guidelines and boundaries necessary to preserve order, enhance general welfare, and protect individuals and the community. All students are expected to exercise sound judgment in their actions and to show an abiding concern for themselves, groups, and the community itself. Students must value the privilege of being associated with EHS. Parents, too, need to be vigilant, cooperative, and eager to honor and assist the School’s efforts, endeavors, and spirit. Recognizing that “attitude is everything” is a useful guideline to honoring the School community and its decision-making process. Respect and personal honor, reflected in daily attitudes and behaviors, are expected of those who belong to, serve, and support genuine community: EHS will continue to provide a healthy, spiritually based, college-preparatory education for the average-to-exceptional student. EHS derives its identity from being a Christian community within the beliefs and traditions of the Episcopal Church. Furthermore, without compromising its underlying faith, traditions, and practices, the School acknowledges and respects the freedom and variety of religious experiences among its faculty, staff, and students. EHS emphasizes the development of sound character, integrity, and personal honor; consequently, in every aspect of a student’s experience, EHS will instill honesty, respect for self and others, fair play, and appreciation of diversity, and service to the community. EHS admits qualified and motivated college-bound students with average-to-exceptional abilities and a wide range of interests and activities, creating a diverse community of students admitted without regard to race, religion, or social/economic background. The student body must be large enough to ensure the School’s program's viability, but not so large that the School’s family atmosphere is diminished. EHS will recruit, sustain, and appropriately compensate an administration and faculty of the highest academic and moral standards committed to the School’s mission and students' education and nurturing. As a shared responsibility, education succeeds when both School and parents exhibit an understanding of, respect for, and dedication to the individual, the family, and the School community. EHS will cultivate with its students and their families a relationship that will last the rest of their lives. The successful accomplishment of the School’s mission requires facilities appropriate for the School’s activities. By adopting sound policies, providing a robust financial base, and promoting the School on the broader community, the Board of Trustees assumes ultimate responsibility for ensuring that EHS accomplishes its mission. Every Knight is full of brainpower and creative energy. We help our students free it. How? Small, intense classes and state-of-the-art facilities, for starters. Plus, mind-opening courses: Through our Interim Term, students travel to experience Chinese culture first-hand, uncover the complexity of baseball statistics, and design their runway fashion shows. EHS teachers are experts at spotting talent, drawing out strengths, and pushing students to be fearless explorers. They challenge you to question, test, reimagine, and reinvent the world. Through a rich offering of over 180 courses across the Four Pillars, EHS helps students develop independence and self-direction, creative problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, persistence, and open-mindedness. Our goal is to equip students with skills and concepts to apply successfully in new situations, question assumptions, evaluate information, and make courageous decisions. Our arts programs teach students to see, experiment, invent, and imagine in ways that are an inherent part of the creative process. Academic classes in religion strengthen both the intellect and the spirit. A thoughtfully designed and varied curriculum in wellness and the many athletic offerings provide students with many opportunities to enhance their physical health. The faculty of 92 men and women, with over 60% holding advanced degrees, is committed to preparing EHS students for college and meaningful life after that.
  7. We are delighted that you have found us, and we hope to have an opportunity to get to know more about you as well. We are incredibly proud of our School and our students and feel that so many of our community's unique qualities are highlighted in our website's various sections. We also urge you to visit the campus in person. One cannot help but be captivated by the enthusiasm, curiosity, creativity, and genuine warmth of the exceptional group of adults and young people from around the country and the world who live and learn together in this 100 percent boarding community. In this day and age when we are all grappling with an increasing pace of change, competitive environment, and complexity of our shrinking global community, Episcopal is uniquely positioned to prepare our students not just to excel in outstanding colleges and universities but to take their place as caring and gifted leaders on a local and global level. For more than 175 years, our students have thrived in our School's rich array of academic offerings, embraced our commitment to personal honor, ethical leadership, and spiritual growth, and been guided and inspired by the close and caring relationships they develop with the adults here. Preparation for real leadership in this quickly changing future demands that we offer our students even more. Our School's innovative approach to curriculum and program that dives deeply into the opportunities and global connections of Washington, D.C., sets us apart and offers our students educational experience unlike any other. Guided by its founding principles of honor, academic distinction, spiritual growth, and community, Episcopal High School prepares young people with the intellectual and moral courage to pursue lives of ethical leadership and service as citizens of an increasingly connected world. Our students appreciate the Episcopal boarding school experience: graduates leave EHS with the moral integrity, character development, and curiosity for learning necessary for a lifetime of purpose. One recent alumna said, "Choose Episcopal if you are willing to wake up each morning and explore whom you want to be. Choose Episcopal if you want an experience where the most important question asked daily is, 'What is the right thing to do?'" Episcopal aspires to graduate young men and women of integrity who will achieve their goals, serve the world, and persevere in heart and mind challenges. Students learn in small classes and actively participate in all classroom discussions. The School's college preparatory curriculum requires students to take courses in English, foreign languages, mathematics, science, social studies, the arts, computer studies, and theology. To graduate, students must earn a minimum total of twenty-three credits in four years, including credits received for afternoon program activities. Our academic class day consists of seven periods. During that time, a student must take at least five courses. They can select an elective and still have time for a study period during the day. EHS guides young people in pursuing excellence within a caring and supportive community. Small classes invite lively discussion and teach students to think independently, creatively, and critically. Offerings include a wide range of English, mathematics, science, language, social studies, theology, and the arts. The seven-period academic day allows ample time for an elective and study period. Students must earn at least 23 credits in four years to graduate, including credits for afternoon programs. EHS also offers more than 40 Honors and Advanced courses in English, math, social studies, science, languages, and many electives, including interdisciplinary studies. Episcopal High School believes: Honor is both pursuit and an expectation. Students' relationships are known, valued, and supported are critical for academic success and character development, and they flourish most powerfully in a 100 percent residential community. The pursuit of knowledge, not merely its acquisition, is at the core of the academic experience, compelling one to take risks and to embrace and learn from failure. Passions, interests, and personal strengths are discovered when students engage in wide-ranging experiences in academics, athletics, the arts, and all areas of school life. Bridging the classroom with intriguing, real-world experiences amidst the vast resources of Washington, D.C., and beyond makes learning authentic and powerful. Intellectual development and moral growth are best nurtured in a vibrant and diverse learning community where close relationships help us understand, appreciate, and bridge our differences. Spiritual inquiry and service are critical to self-discovery and developing empathy for others. High expectations and rigor, combined with close attention to each child's physical and emotional well-being, lead students to thrive and be their best selves. We are all part of something greater than ourselves with the capacity and responsibility to be a force for good in others' lives.
  8. Founded in 1996, Episcopal Collegiate is one of the nation's finest independent, co-educational, college preparatory day schools. We have earned this reputation because we believe in the power of a promise. We see it in our students, ages three through grade 12, in our Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools. We see it on our campus, nestled on 34 acres near downtown Little Rock, within sight of the historic state capitol. And we see it in you. Episcopal Collegiate is known for outstanding academics, passionate teachers, and a robust Episcopal tradition, but there is more to us than that— we promise. As a PK-3 through 12th-grade School, we offer a unique opportunity for students and families of all ages and walks of life to experience the difference an Episcopal Collegiate education can make. It is an investment that holds promise — a promise that opens a world of possibilities for your child. This promise allows every child to be surrounded by caring adults who know them well and are committed to their personal growth, a promise that prepares each child for success in college and the world beyond. We take our mission seriously. Without a doubt, we are dedicated to the pursuit of academic excellence. We are known for this but offer so much more. We affirm the importance of our faith in God and understand the transformative power of competitive athletics and performing and visual arts. We nurture joy in learning and help students discover and pursue their passions. We hold students to high standards and work hard to understand how best to equip them to meet them. We believe in personal responsibility and provide developmentally appropriate levels of support, encouragement, accountability, and grace. We not only provide students opportunities to lead, but we intentionally focus on developing their leadership skills. We serve our community, but we strive to do so in ways that impact our students as much as those they are serving. We are a community. Our classrooms, courts, playing fields, and studios are filled with creative and dedicated teachers, students, and parents who embrace the challenges of living out our mission. We expect a lot of ourselves but embrace setbacks and mistakes as opportunities to grow. Our belief bounds us together in every human being's dignity and worth and the respect they deserve. Our belief in honor bounds us. Our love of this School bounds us. Our belief bounds us in the promise of our students and our commitment to them. Episcopal Collegiate School prepares students to live principled and fulfilling lives of leadership and service by pursuing academic and personal excellence in a challenging and supportive environment. Rooted in the Episcopal tradition and affirming people of all faiths, Episcopal Collegiate strives to develop in its students a respect for all persons, a reverence of God, and a sense of moral responsibility. Through a vibrant student body rich in diversity, students learn to live and honor the School's core values of Respect, Reverence, and Responsibility and are inspired to carry those values beyond the School community into their futures. Through the pursuit of excellence in academics, fine arts, and athletics, students develop the skills and understandings essential to leadership, service, and success: Depth of knowledge in the arts, sciences, and humanities Strong skills of analysis and expression Critical, creative, and independent thinking Intellectual curiosity and joy in learning Cultural competencies and global understandings Strength of body, mind, and character Discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship Self-awareness and self-efficacy Many schools can offer a challenging class or a tough assignment. At Episcopal Collegiate, our goal is to find out what you are good at and challenge you to fulfill your unique promise. We are known for our small classes, highly qualified teachers, and rigorous academics. But rigor alone is not our goal. We believe in the power and promise of intellectual curiosity—a deep, persistent desire to know. Episcopal Collegiate School views technology as an instrument to increase student learning and weave its use into the daily classroom routine seamlessly. We are committed to providing an environment that recognizes the shifts in literacy, information, learning, and innovation and brings all learners' up-to-date access and resources. Students in grades PreK-Kindergarten have access to iPad carts. Students in grades 1 and 2 have access to grade-level Chromebook carts. Our students in grades 3-8 are provided with their Chromebooks, and our students in grades 9-12 are part of our BYOD program. Additionally, we have a Discovery Lab for Early Childhood, Design Labs for Lower School and Middle School, and a Communication Studio for Middle and Upper School students. Our Exploratory Design Program focuses on design thinking and helps students empathize, design, create, revise, and produce. Our commitment is based on our understanding that technology will continue to be an integral part of educating every student.
  9. Episcopal School of Acadiana is a private, coeducational day school for students in grades PreK-3 through 12. Our mission is to instill in every student the habits of scholarship and honor. The ESA Experience is much more significant than you could ever put into words. It is the feeling on the first day of school. It is the smell of sugarcane burning. It is the quiet walk to the chapel or the incredible run at morning practice, the one with the sun rising and the fog hovering over the dew-covered practice fields. It is the outdoor coffeehouse performance of an 8th grader playing a piece by Beethoven. It knows you have been prepared. Prepared for the woods, the interview, the choices you will be faced with in life. It is the hugs you are given or the tears you will shed. We all feel it. And that is permanent to anyone who has ever been a part of it. At ESA, we nurture the twin virtues of freedom and responsibility. We pursue these virtues in our school's daily life by balancing joy and challenge, inventiveness and tradition, respect and informality, trust, and support. We cultivate and celebrate this balance in our vibrant, eclectic community that prizes individual freedom and cooperation. We take responsibility for what we do and say and freely use our talents and strengths to become energetic citizens who sustain our community by making positive contributions. Habits of honor develop in our community, which expects the choice of right over wrong. Our code of honor promotes fairness, truth, and honesty; our commitment to honor affords the freedom necessary for responsibility and the confidence that ideas, ideals, and property are respected. Habits of scholarship develop from the relationship between passionate teachers and creative students. Fueled by the joy of discovery, self-motivated students exhibit an intellectual vitality that strengthens their beliefs yet inspires an open mind. Students develop intellectually in our nurturing environment, where they master skills and knowledge. Students are challenged to learn, think, and question critically. Students take intellectual risks, learn how to express and support their ideas, and are encouraged to defend their positions. Students experience the Episcopal traditions and liturgies, and they are supported in their search to discover a personal relationship with God. Spiritual development follows through sharing meaningful experiences and offering our leadership and talents at ESA and our service to the broader community. Students' physical development is grounded in our physical education curriculum that encourages lifelong health and physical activity. Every student acquires physical skills, learns the value of competition and teamwork, and cultivates sportsmanship ethos. Episcopal schools are bold and experimental places that try to hold on to what seem to be two contradictory goals: to live into their identity as schools that present the traditions and worship of the Episcopal Church in an unapologetic way but to be at the same time places of diversity and inclusion that honor the religious traditions of their students... While resting firm on its traditional understanding of Jesus and his mission, the Episcopal Church of today also holds that we can honor and learn from a variety of other religious and non-religious perspectives. So what do we do when it comes to religion at an Episcopal school? On the one hand, we demonstrate that the foundation of the Episcopal school's thirst for justice and all people's dignity comes from the great heritage of the Christian tradition that honors the life and work of Jesus. And yet, on the other hand, we invite all students to contemplate their spirituality more deeply and intentionally, no matter what religious tradition they adhere to. Experience is everything, and ESA's academic program proves it. From PK3 through 12th grade, our curriculum emphasizes problem-solving, hands-on learning, and critical thinking. Academics at ESA blend content and enrichment to encourage curiosity and inspire learning. Students are active participants, experiencing their education through challenge and exploration. With small classes, every student progresses. Enrichment clusters, electives, and independent studies allow students to learn with others who share their interests. Teachers who are passionate about the subjects they teach set the example for a lifetime of curiosity and growth. They share their love of learning with their students every day. Through place-based learning, students explore and face challenges that broaden their knowledge, teach them to work together, and give them the confidence to succeed. Teachers, advisors, grade-level deans, counselors, chaplains, academic support teachers, and coaches are available to help students navigate academic, social, and extracurricular challenges. On both the Lafayette and Cade campuses, teachers incorporate technology as one of the many tools contributing to learning. Through visual and performing arts, ESA students step into artists' shoes to learn the skills and establish the foundation for exploring their creativity. 10. An independent college preparatory school in the Episcopal tradition with a carefully coordinated P(K)-12 curriculum, Christ Church Episcopal School is one of the Greenville, SC area's most prestigious academic institutions. However, the CCES experience encompasses much more than educational endeavors, providing students opportunities to fulfill their social, physical, and spiritual potential. As an independent school, CCES offers a truly unique educational experience. Small classes, dedicated faculty, and well-rounded programs help create a supportive yet challenging environment where students can learn, grow, and excel. The P(K)-12 academic curriculum's continuity allows students to seamlessly transition from the child-centered classrooms of the Lower School to the more independent nature of the Middle School to the academically rigorous atmosphere in the Upper School. These components come together to develop the foundation for each student's future far beyond the classroom. At CCES, academic performance is not the sole measure of success. From our 47 diverse athletic teams to our variety of unique service-learning projects to our extensive selection of clubs & extracurriculars, each student can engage in activities that speak to their interests and skills. Our carefully planned programs also foster fundamental characteristics such as leadership, creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and other traits that prepare each student for a lifetime of success. We offer coherence: a faith foundation that puts knowledge into the perspective of service to humanity lineal connections in subject areas from Primer through the senior year of high school that ensure developmental growth, a code of conduct, and a set of principles permeate all that we do and say. Our core values character, community, excellence, and service-suffuse the P-12 life of the school. We honor our Episcopal tradition and believe that we serve people best and live the most meaningful lives when we dedicate ourselves to the Sovereign Good. We offer accountability: On the frontlines, teachers are dedicated to promoting academic and ethical growth. The chaplaincy knows and loves your children and their parents. Our administrative staff responds to your needs, concerns, and grievances promptly (we want to get it right all the time). We offer an opportunity: extraordinary opportunities to participate in competitive athletics at a high level, with inspirational coaches, and to bask in the pleasure of stage performance under the guidance of gifted arts instructors a culture that celebrates service and requires all students to explore practical service to others and faith-centered programs directed by our chaplains. These multiple and integrated venues that CCES offers students to develop into productive, disciplined, and conscientious people are distinctive in the Upstate. We offer a challenge: no one improves without high standards, motivation, and encouragement. CCES brings the best out of its students because it sets the bar high, provides assistance, and instills the confidence that leads to success. We offer community: perhaps the most appealing trait of CCES is its sense of togetherness. Collateral, parent volunteer groups enrich student activities with their support. The Parents Organization, Booster Club, and Arts Guild do beautiful things for students, mentors, and guests. The alumni association maintains links among our three thousand alums, including seventeen hundred in the Upstate. However, it is an informal activity that saves the day often. This connectedness is explicit when someone is in need. Care abounds. Compassion is tangible. People step up. The network of communication among CCES parents is vital. Faculty and staff extend regular and often unrecognized assistance to colleagues. We take care of one another. Character and competence result from this amalgam of institutional attributes. In addition to an assurance that a CCES graduate will be academically prepared for higher education, we deliberately cultivate six character traits: resilience, or persistence, colloquially known as "grit" collaboration, or teamwork creativity, or problem-solving ability, time management, or work ethic ethics, or compassion, empathy, and integrity and intrinsic motivation, or intellectual curiosity. Combining skills and virtue accounts for an impressive catalog of academic, athletic, and artistic accomplishments. These accomplishments are evidence of high aspirations and enthusiastic support and encouragement to make the most of our abilities. Offering students a unique educational experience, including International Baccalaureate (IB) programs and a challenging college preparatory curriculum, CCES has become synonymous with academic excellence throughout the area. It is evident in the measures of our students' achievements: 100% of our students are accepted into a college, SAT scores consistently outpace national averages by several hundred points, and IB scores exceed world averages. But it is even more evident in the classroom. Dedicated teachers with imagination and high standards make strong connections with their students. Our students are motivated to meet the high expectations of teachers who believe in them.

Episcopalians, like all Christians, believe that our life is founded on the life of Jesus and that as a Church, we are called to offer the redeeming love of God in Christ to all people. Episcopal schools are a concrete expression of the Church’s care for young people and their families and believe that God calls us to love God’s children. This open, welcoming, and loving attitude toward people of all faith traditions ensure that every child is a beloved member of the school community. As an Episcopal School in the more than 300-year tradition of Episcopalians providing excellence in education, All Saints reflects a particular style and temperament unique to other private schools. While independent in mission, operation, and governance, our relationship with the Episcopal Church connects us to the history, tradition, resources, and stability of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, which provides All Saints a foundation that many other private schools lack. This is especially true in the openness of Episcopal schools to have religiously diverse students and faculty. Historically of primary concern in Episcopal Schools are excellence in education and the development of character, virtue, and honor.

  18. At ESLA, we abide by a straightforward truth: The best educational tool for any young person is the collaboration and camaraderie of peers from different backgrounds—peers who have stories and perspectives to share, the stuff of life that cannot be gleaned from a textbook. A truly exceptional, transformative education requires a diverse and equitable learning environment. It gives students access to entire worlds and worldviews they might never otherwise encounter. It opens their hearts and minds to the concerns, struggles, and joys of others—knowledge that will forever shape their convictions and actions in life. Study after study shows that students from diverse classrooms have more significant cultural competencies and are better prepared for higher education and life beyond. But this is about far more than college prep. At ESLA, diversity, and equity are not buzzwords or window dressing. They are irreplaceable pedagogical practices and—moreover—ethical imperatives. Breaking down the barriers in our society goes hand in hand with breaking down the barriers in our schools, and preparing tomorrow's ethical leaders requires ethical educational practices—right now, today. At ESLA, almost half of our overall tuition revenue is funded by need-based scholarships—an enormous, nearly unparalleled commitment to aid and access in the independent school world. We cannot overstate what an incredible difference this makes. Every year we enroll just as many students who know what it means to live in the most trying financial circumstances—students whose convictions are forged with a visceral understanding of economic disparity in our nation and whose perspectives are therefore vital—as we do students who come from significant affluence. A majority of our newly enrolling students identify as people of color. Our families reflect our neighborhood's vibrant diversity and our city—small business owners, studio executives, wage workers, Latinx, Korean-American, black, and white. In a fifteen-year seminar class, our average class size is often the case that no two students will approach the issue at hand from the same socioeconomic and cultural background. It is also quite telling that several of our most popular, student-founded, and student-led organizations are the Feminist Club, the Gender and Sexual Diversity Association, and Bridging the Gap. This club facilitates lunchtime conversations on issues about marginalized groups. Many of our students are openly LGBTQ. Many contend every day with the complexities of intersectional identity politics—what it means, for instance, to be multiracial, to fit into predefined categories rarely, or to experience privilege in specific ways but persecution in others. Our students lead the way in bringing our mission to life. They repeatedly prove, through their curiosity and courage, innumerable versions of that simple truth we abide: If you want to have a transformative conversation about immigration policy in the US, you have to do it with DREAMers or the daughters of immigrants in the room. If you want to have a transformative conversation about gender and sexual identity, you have to do it with LGBTQ students or LGBTQ parents' daughters in the room. The absolute best resource our students have is one another. Everyone has much to give and much to learn. This is lofty rhetoric, we know. We are just one small school, growing every day, doing our best. The path ahead of us is long, but we walk it with determination, and we hope our story resonates with yours. Our mission is what we are made of; it provides the building blocks for our entire school. We aim to foster a safe space where the most talented students from all walks of life can receive an education of unrivaled quality, space where their differences will often recede into the background as they engage in intellectual, artistic, and athletic pursuits—and space, too, where they can address their differences on an equal footing, where they can contend with tricky questions in a familiar spirit, with generosity and with joy. Everything we do is in service of this goal. We understand the value of carving out some space in a young person's life that's free from technology—free from text messages, video games, social media, and glowing liquid crystal screens. This is why our students put away all outside technology while they are on campus to focus on the school day and interact face-to-face with faculty and peers. But we also understand the incredible opportunities for integrating technology into our classrooms and our curricula. We believe that technological literacy—the ability to navigate both the potentials and perils of our rapidly evolving, tech-driven era—is an essential education component today. The school provides every student with a Chromebook and all the software they will need for class and ensures that everyone has a reliable internet connection when they go home each evening. Moreover, our campus allows our students to engage with the tools that will undoubtedly shape their futures—from high-powered desktops to robotics equipment, virtual reality goggles, and 3D printers. These are not merely expensive toys. We want our students to ask broader questions about how technology shapes the ethical landscape of the world they live in and how it can be harnessed toward positive social transformations. 19. The Episcopal School of Dallas is an academic community where excellence is the standard. Our college preparatory curriculum, led by a nationally-recognized faculty, is complemented by a full array of artistic and athletic programs, daily chapel, experiences in the outdoors, and a myriad of opportunities to lead and serve others. ESD's outstanding balance of rigor and nurture inspires students to maximize their potential and live a life of purpose. The Episcopal School of Dallas prepares young men and women for lives of intellectual discovery, integrity, and purpose. The School develops the unique talent and potential in each student and embraces sound learning, discipline, and faith as essential elements of an educated conscience. The Founding Tenets of The Episcopal School of Dallas was created simultaneously with the original Mission Statement. These Tenets provide the structure that enables the faculty, staff, and students to work and study in a faith-centered environment. Nurturing a spiritual relationship with God through the use of the Book of Common Prayer within the context of a pluralistic and diverse student and faculty population. Experiencing mutual trust, respect, and honor while preserving individual identity, uniqueness of thought, and personality. Preparing students for actions that promote the common good by studying religious and moral paradigms of history and contemporary thought. Actualizing the common good's advancement through acts of mercy and renewal here and within the broader community. Daily worship, community experiences, and studies in ethical decision-making prepare members of this community for service to others, the highest manifestation of God's presence in our lives. Students learn best through the active pursuit of knowledge and the relevant application of that knowledge. We believe this is best achieved in a community that fosters critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, personal responsibility, and intellectual risk-taking in a safe and open environment. ESD educators endeavor to guide students through inquiry-based, real-world learning experiences that yield enduring understanding and encourage them to become lifelong learners in an ever-changing global society. ESD promotes enduring understanding through classroom experiences and real-world applications that involve students in the in-depth discovery and development of their talents, skills, and acquired knowledge. Students think flexibly as they engage in complex, ambiguous, and thought-provoking educational experiences. Students draw upon higher-order cognitive and soft skills to develop questions and address problems. Students take responsible risks that appropriately challenge their competence and comfort. Students strive for accuracy as they persevere toward achievement at high standards. Students think about their thinking as they reflect on their achievement and remain open to continuous learning. In the same way that our Mission Statement informs everything else we do at The Episcopal School of Dallas, it is also the starting point for envisioning what it means for our students to be "globally educated." Many of our youngest students will live through the 21st Century and beyond, into the now unimaginable 22nd. To prepare them for the rapid changes and ultimate unknowns of that life span, we need to offer opportunities for them to learn about the diversity, the delights, the challenges, and the experiences that the broader world provides them. The Global Education program encompasses four main aspects of student life at ESD: curriculum, programming, travel, and extracurricular activities. Global issues, geography, language, culture, and history are interwoven throughout classes at all grade levels. Visitors worldwide bring their perspectives to challenge and enrich our students' understanding of the world and their places in it. A growing number of opportunities exist for students to travel globally to learn and serve. At The Episcopal School of Dallas, we maximize classroom space, both indoors and out, allowing our students to learn through experience and exploration. ESD has developed a large portion of Wolf Run Ranch as an outdoor education center thanks to the generosity and guidance of the late Pete Gifford of Dallas. Located just outside of Anna, Texas, Wolf Run provides a 300-acre environment for a community's experiences. Nature trails, a lake, a low ropes course, two bunkhouses, a lodge, an outdoor chapel, and a working ranch create unique learning and self-growth opportunities for students grades one through twelve. As a school, we strive daily to create a safe, nurturing environment for all of our students, regardless of their background. Our program's goal is not merely to make students aware of the diversity in the world around or to accept it. The ESD graduate can appreciate another person for the unique qualities and background that s/he brings to the school community. In doing so, we want all students, faculty, and staff to know that we are one body, one School, regardless of our differences. While online resources can be invaluable throughout this research, students and parents must develop a meaningful, continual discourse with their college counselor. At STE, our counselor serves as an adviser and activist for all college-bound students and their parents. Our goal is to walk students through every part of the search process, beginning with a candid assessment of each individual’s needs and desires for their college education. Upper School students and parents are encouraged to meet and talk with the counselor as they continue along the path to college. Our Robinson Memorial Library provides services to support inquiring minds and the academic, artistic, and recreational needs of the staff, students, and broader school community. 22. The year was 1970, when a small group of community leaders met with their rector at Christ Episcopal Church. They dreamed of a school to provide an education with high scholastic standards and small classes. That dream became Saint Stephen's Episcopal School and, in 1975, the first class of 11 seniors celebrated their graduation. The unique traditions and standards of excellence that embody a Saint Stephen's education today are as strong as they were when first visualized by its founders: students who are well prepared for college through a rigorous academic program, and well prepared for a life of service, embedded with strong moral values of integrity, responsibility, and respect. Much of the school's success can be attributed to the vision of its leaders. Because of a commitment to maintaining small class sizes with academic rigor, campus expansion has been a continual focus for all five serving heads. Saint Stephen's now ranks among the most respected independent college preparatory schools in the nation, providing a world-class education for students in grades Pre-K3 through 12. Students are nurtured in small classes, encouraged and supported by outstanding faculty who help them navigate a carefully designed and balanced curriculum of academic rigor and character development. A wide variety of customized curricular and extracurricular experiences are offered that result from flexible scheduling and the philosophy of meeting individual student needs. The curriculum's range and breadth provide children who come to Saint Stephen's with excellent preparation in becoming global citizens. 24. Founded in 1847, St. Mary's is the Oldest Independent School in Tennessee. We know how girls learn best and have a community of caring adults who want each girl to reach her potential. Girls here are smart in many ways — academically, creatively, athletically — and success at St. Mary's, therefore, is as individual as each girl. Our dedicated faculty provide the students with habits of mind and academic tools to thrive in their future: core knowledge, collaboration, creativity, and the desire and ability to keep learning as an adult. As an Episcopal School, we have a nurturing, diverse, and inclusive environment. Girls grow in character from the earliest years and learn to respect each others' faith as they grow independently. The mission of St. Mary's Episcopal School is to provide a superior educational experience for girls, which will encourage and enable each student to reach her potential. St. Mary's is a school founded in the Episcopal Church tradition, and in that light, we strive to be a welcoming, respectful, inclusive community. Students, faculty, and staff at St. Mary's transcend all creeds and religions. Our Christian tradition welcomes girls of all faiths and actively fosters their faiths as a joyous and robust basis for living principled lives, being active members of the community, and giving themselves to others. We celebrate – and try to live – the values of being kinder than necessary, being an upstander, and serving our neighbors from a heart of compassion. One of the visible markers of our Episcopal identity is Chapel. Girls in the Middle and Upper Schools attend Chapel every day, while girls in the Early Childhood Center and Lower School attend Chapel once a week. The Chapel serves as a centering moment in our busy world and is a time to gather as a community to celebrate our shared life. We hear stories of faith, stories from our students, and the stories of guests who represent a broad spectrum of the best of the Memphis community. St Mary's strives to create an environment that is comfortable for both Christians and non-Christians, encouraging girls to find the love of God at work in each other and to seek truth in places they might not have otherwise looked. In such a community, acts of kindness are encouraged, and community service is expected. At St. Mary's, we have faith in one another. Students, faculty, and staff respect and help each other at school and beyond. Our Episcopal identity affects the faculty's teachings and informs the decisions made by the staff, administration, and Board of Trustees. The Episcopal tradition teaches us to respect the dignity of everyone we meet, and this allows us to live more fully into our mission: to enable and encourage each student to reach her potential. Each girl is one of a kind, individually gifted, and smart in her way. We believe in guiding each girl to reach her potential. With our 100% girl culture, our students aren't afraid to take risks or make mistakes. Girls thrive in an all-girl environment. Research shows that graduates of girls' schools are more likely to see themselves in leadership positions, rate themselves higher in math and science courses, and are more engaged and confident in the classroom and beyond. From the performance stage to the science lab, from the sports field to Chapel - St. Mary's girls learn to collaborate, inspire others, and achieve their goals. It's no surprise that St. Mary's graduates are at the forefront of developments in science, math, technology, the arts, healthcare, education, the military, and public service. In Memphis and across the planet, St. Mary's girls make a positive impact. View full school
  25. Founded in 1947, St. Martin's is a coeducational, independent school that provides students from 8 weeks to grade 12 with a college preparatory education focused on developing the whole person. Students and faculty embrace the school's motto, "Faith, Scholarship, and Service." One of St. Martin's greatest strengths is its strong community, a diverse group of individuals with many gifts and talents who celebrate their shared values and commitment to core principles. St. Martin's values inclusivity and practices it throughout the school, ensuring all students have opportunities to lead and learn. While its students come from all walks of life, St. Martin's is a place where all belong. Our guiding Episcopal tradition has promoted the intentional integration of faith and learning for over sixty years. We instill lifelong moral and ethical character development, leading students not only to prepare for college but to live a meaningful and purposeful life. We provide religious instruction to students, teaching them the Christian Faith in the context of the Episcopal tradition and major world religions, particularly those represented within our own student body. Recognizing each individual's uniqueness in the image of God, we are each called to respect the religious diversity of others. Recognizing that service comes out of our faith commitment set by the example of our patron saint, St. Martin de Tours, we are called to integrate service-learning into our students, faculty, and families' community life. St. Martin's is an Academic Powerhouse. We have a fantastic record of sending our students to the colleges of their dreams. They excel in sports and academics, shine on the stage, create extraordinary works of art and literature, and develop lifelong friendships. We teach them to think and solve real-world problems. They learn to serve where they see opportunities or needs. All of that should be and could be enough. But we do not stop there. From academics to art, athletics to music, we cultivate total human development to prepare students for a purposeful, meaningful, and productive life. We focus on student learning and teach for the transfer of information and learning objectives. Learning shapes the whole person as we intentionally integrate the mind, body, and spirit into all learning endeavors. We provide our students with a global lens, connecting them to trends that are shaping our world. And, we promote economic and ecological sustainability in order to be the best steward of our resources. Our students are known, needed, cared for, and have an opportunity to shape their environment through our unique community-based approach. Families are the centerpieces of our community and provide a partnership between the school and the student that enables our work to be successful. We value inclusivity and practice it throughout our school community, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to lead and learn. We seek and value diversity in our school community, seeking students, families, and faculty from diverse backgrounds yet with a shared commitment to our core principles. We are a total and comprehensive independent school family, with infants to 12th graders, creating a robust and authentic school community. We prepare students not only to thrive in excellent colleges but to lead meaningful and productive lives as they acquire core competencies that enable success long after graduation. Education is not static but ongoing. We believe in lifelong learning, emphasizing learning, and professional development for the skills we need tomorrow, not only today. Our school follows and nurtures a natural intellectual, social, moral, and physical development sequence. This understanding allows us to create a curriculum and programs that stimulate growth at the different stages in a child's life. Our student-led service programs help others today and build bold leaders tomorrow. Our students impact the community positively through their engagement in essential outreach programs. Our guiding Episcopal tradition has promoted the intentional integration of faith and learning for over 70 years. We instill lifelong moral and ethical character development, leading students to not only prepare for college but to live a meaningful and purposeful life. We seek bright and motivated students who intend to succeed in school and life and are committed to our unique school philosophy. We acknowledge and organize around the concept that people enjoy multiple intelligences and learn differently from each other, creating an exciting atmosphere for learning. Our teaching approach is student-centered, dialogue-driven, and critical thinking oriented, promoting a genuinely robust classroom where students are given the freedom to flourish. Data-driven research informs our approach to the teaching-learning experience to remain effective and accountable to the students and parents who select our school. View full school
