  1. The school is situated in Hampstead Garden Suburb, at the southern end of the London Borough of Barnet. We are a three-form entry co-educational community junior school for children between the ages of 7-11 years. The school was originally opened in 1913. Part of the building was rebuilt in 1960 to replace damage caused during the 1939-45 War. There is an infant school on the same site and there are strong links between the two schools We believe that our schools’ values, curriculum, and ethos which permeate everything we do, reflect the British values of democracy the rule of law individual liberty mutual respect tolerance of other faiths and beliefs. Our vision is to cultivate excellence and enjoyment in teaching and learning within a safe, stimulating, and caring environment where the wellbeing of the whole child is nurtured and the achievements of each child are celebrated. We want to preserve and encourage the Infant School and the Junior School independence as well as enable close collaboration between the two schools. We recognize children learn and develop best when their education matches crucial phases in their development. Garden Suburb Junior School prides itself on an atmosphere of support, trust, and encouragement. Relationships between teachers and their pupils are excellent and as a consequence so too is behavior. Pupils appreciate the school's behavior management systems and as Ofsted observed on their most recent visit, behavior is "typically outstanding". Garden Suburb Junior School takes attendance and punctuality very seriously. Children must attend school regularly and punctually. This reinforces their sense of respect for the school and others and ensures they develop good habits of timekeeping. 7. Galliard Primary School is a good school where the learning and achievement of our pupils are at the heart of everything we do. We ensure that children learn skills and develop their knowledge and understanding with a curriculum that is integrated, interesting, practical, and fun. We have a large Early Years Centre where two and three-year-olds can experience a range of activities and develop their early learning skills while their parents and carers can work or courses and activities which help with the sometimes difficult job of raising a family. In school, we continue to work in partnership with parents and carers so that they can also take a real part in their children's learning and we do all we can to support this through parent consultation evenings and parent workshops. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to be the best they can be and we have lots of different ways of working with groups of children to ensure that they make progress, whatever their starting point. Above all, Galliard is a community where we look after and learn from each other. The school's Code of Conduct 'Be kind, be. Safe, Be Responsible' and our Core Values 'Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Compassion, Courage and Justice' run through everything we do. Our vision is to ensure that pupils become successful learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve confident individuals who can live safe, healthy, and fulfilling lives as responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society. The vision, values, and ethos of the school have for many years been underpinned by the school’s core values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Compassion, Courage, and Justice. These are taught explicitly through the curriculum and wider life of the school and we believe they fully embrace the definition of British Values. There are many examples and opportunities for these values to be demonstrated every day. Every half term a Core Value is carefully considered and discussed in assemblies, in class, and as part of the wider life of the school with and between pupils, parents/carers, and staff. They are displayed around the school, on the website, in newsletters and provide a common understanding for all members of the community. Pupils who go above and beyond the demonstration of these values are acknowledged for this in an Achievement assembly and with a special certificate. To form supportive partnerships between pupils, staff, parents/carers, governors, other agencies, and the local and wider community to enable the positive development of each learner’s academic and social skills and to prepare them well for each stage of their learning and development at Galliard and their life beyond. To create a secure, stimulating, and industrious environment that fosters the development of all learners, so that they are appropriately challenged, make good or better progress, and achieve their full potential. To provide a curriculum that takes into account the differing needs, interests, and levels of development and attainment of our learners and ensures that the teaching of knowledge, skills, and understanding is well planned, broad, balanced, relevant, creative, and values-led. To foster a spirit of independence, intellectual inquiry, and mastery of skills and understanding in all learners. To promote positive attitudes in our school community with an emphasis on respect for oneself and others (their beliefs, culture, home background, and property), self-discipline, resilience, cooperation, and courtesy, enabling pupils to become good citizens in their community and a national and global context. 11. Gainsborough Primary School is a two-form entry community school with a Nursery and a Children’s Centre. The children in our care range from two to eleven years old. Gainsborough School is a cooperative learning community where all achievements are celebrated and valued. Staff facilitates and engages learning through creativity, innovation, effective communication technologies, and harnessing students’ talents and interests. Our children will leave Gainsborough as responsible citizens of the world and as lifelong learners and thinkers. At Gainsborough, our code of conduct is based on the Gainsborough Goals. These are a set of statements linked to the UNICEF Children’s Rights in School. We are a Right’s Respecting School and these values underpin every aspect of our school community. Each of our Gainsborough Goals is directly linked to, and in support of, one of the UNICEF Children’s Rights. As a whole school, each half term we focus on one of the Gainsborough goals and share examples of how we can achieve this daily. Children that consistently show good examples of our Gainsborough Goals and school values are rewarded using the celebratory aspect of the school's behavior policy Stay on Green. Children are rewarded with Bronze, Silver, or Gold rewards to match the level of commitment that they have shown. We joined the Primary Advantage Federation in April 2017. This partnership helps us to share good practices and allows us to draw on the expertise of curriculum leaders and lead practitioners which acts as a form of Continuous Professional Development for our teaching staff. The Primary Advantage Federation is overseen by Sian Davies, Executive Principal. Jenna Clark, our Executive Headteacher, leads teaching and learning across our school and she is supported by a strong Senior Leadership Team. The Senior Leadership Team acts as the point of contact for parents, children, and staff. We are a group of schools working together because we believe our schools can gain many benefits from working collaboratively. We have committed to a shared responsibility to the wider school community, the provision of good quality education, and the improvement of life chances for pupils in the community beyond that of our schools. Teachers, support staff, school leaders, and governors have added expertise in working alongside colleagues to improve provision and outcomes for our pupils. Our curriculum is wide, varied, relevant, and exciting. We aim to hold the interest of all our children to develop a love of school and learning. Any attempt to raise standards in our schools must be focused on learning in the classroom and the wider environment. Continued and sustained improvement is dependent upon improving the quality of teaching and learning that is taking place daily. 2014 saw a complete overhaul on the old curriculum which many teachers had become familiar and comfortable with. The government introduced a new curriculum which will see our current year 6′s (May 2016) sitting the first SATs test which is based on the new standards set by the new curriculum. These tests will be marked by external examiners and the results will be used to measure our school’s performance. These results are reported to Ofsted and are used in the published league tables which are readily available for all to see. Online Safety or Internet Safety, is a term that is used to highlight the importance of maximizing a user’s safety and security risks to private information and property associated with using the internet, and the self-protection from computer crime in general. While the internet and communication technology can be a wonderful tool, often used to support children’s learning both in and outside of schools, there can be times when these things can also harm children. It is extremely important for schools, parents, and children to be aware of the potential dangers of these tools and to ensure that they are used safely at all times. Here at Gainsborough, we take Online Safety very seriously and are constantly looking for ways to raise awareness in a bid to keep all of our children safe online. In Key Stage 2, these tests are taken by all Year 6 pupils in May each year, although optional tests are often used across the school to give teachers a clearer view of children’s progress at different stages of the year. The Key Stage 1 SATs are taken in Year 2. These tests are not administered on a set date each year these usually take place at some point during May or June. The Year 6 SATs are mainly used by the school to check on progress. However, they are also used to assess the child’s attainment before they move onto secondary school where they are sometimes used by the schools to determine which sets they will enter in year 7. 12. On this page, you will find our top tips for staying safe online as well as several links to external websites which promote Online Safety by providing guidance and advice for parents and carers. 13. Gainsborough Primary School is a two-form, inner-city, inclusive school. We believe in our Gainsborough Family, building success together, and are very proud of the outcomes for learners at the end of all the Key Stages, where we are consistently at and above National levels. In addition to providing good mainstream education, we offer 14 resourced provision places for children diagnosed with a severe autistic spectrum disorder. We have a very skilled team of staff to support all learners. Currently, there are just over 400 pupils on roll, with 40 part-time and 8 full-time places in nursery. The school is located in a developing area of East London however Newham ranks in the top 1% of the most deprived boroughs in England. We carefully plan our budget to find the best ways to support all children and to raise attainment. Some of our initiatives include high adult-to-child ratios, smaller class sizes, focussed interventions, and specialist teachers. Many children join us mid-year, all talk about the family and nurturing feel of the school. Since 2013 we have gone from strength to strength, appearing in the top 20 of Newham schools for outcomes for learners at key points, e.g. end of EYFS, Phonic Screening, and pupil progress from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2. We are very proud and want to keep improving. We want every pupil to achieve his or her potential, whatever their starting point and we aim to create a climate of success for the whole school community. We believe that to learn well children need to feel safe and secure, and so we provide an orderly, well-disciplined environment. Lessons are carefully planned and structured by teachers so that all children will be able to reach their potential if they work hard. Homework linked to classwork is set. As a school, we know that working in partnership with other schools improves the outcomes for pupils in ours. We are part of a multi-academy trust with Kaizen Primary School. Our School Vision: We aspire to be the best we can be. We learn from our experiences. We challenge ourselves every day. We respect and celebrate our Gainsborough Family. School Ethos: To know our children well – the positives, the negatives, and their barriers. To accept our children as they are and nurture what they have so they can be the best they can be. To give our children real learning experiences and encourage a thirst for knowledge. To be committed and give the best of ourselves. To provide a challenge for our children, whilst understanding their starting points, to enable them to be the best they can be. For children and staff to feel supported and valued. Our responsibilities: To be clear about the learning behavior we expect and ensure we model it. To ensure that there are consistently good teaching and learning opportunities and real-life experiences across the school, for all our children. To remember that without basic needs being met learning cannot happen. To understand the learning that each child needs and ensure their needs are met. To ensure a safe environment for all. To support each other and work together. At Gainsborough Primary Primary School we value the diversity of backgrounds of all pupils, families, and the wider school community. 17. A Co-educational Day and Boarding School for Ages 4-18 We are a small and friendly independent, co-educational day and boarding school situated in the North York Moors National Park, overlooking the picturesque coastline of Robin Hood’s Bay, near Whitby, North Yorkshire. Since we opened in 1923, we have welcomed pupils of all abilities, confident that good teaching in our family-like community gives every child the best possible chance to excel. We offer affordable excellence in education for our pupils whether they attend as a day or boarding pupil. We are very proud of our school, over 90 years old now and set in the North York Moors National Park, with magnificent views over Robin Hood’s Bay. But it is the community of staff and pupils that create the family atmosphere and makes the school what it is. We welcome boys and girls, day and boarding pupils of all abilities and we offer excellent teaching (last year we finished 6th in the UK for progress!) and high-quality pastoral care with many opportunities to take part in a variety of activities. Small we may be, but the school has comprehensive facilities including an indoor and open-air theatre a sports hall and climbing wall an all-weather pitch a cricket and athletics ground as well as our very own ponies and stables. We are also very active in drama and music and produce regular concerts throughout the year. Our founder chose the school’s motto from a John Masefield poem: ‘The days that make us happy make us wise’ and we believe in this as much today as yesterday. Our vision Trustees of Fyling Hall School aim to steer a course towards the year 2023 and our centenary year that will enable us to embark on our second century securely financed, handsomely equipped, and widely respected. Although we will always be responsive to a changing world, we must have the confidence to resist mere educational fashion as we conserve and develop the school’s distinctive character. This character is rooted equally in the natural beauty of our setting and the family warmth of our small community. In the combination of place and spirit lies our unique quality – and our greatest strength. Thus, we aim for a school in our centenary year which may be greatly changed by improved facilities, rigorous business planning, and enhanced reputation – but it will remain recognizable as the school Mab Bradley founded and Clare White continued: an unfussy, happy establishment where children flourish and learn to the very best of their potential. Our motto: ‘The days that make us happy make us wise’ Our principles It is worth setting out first, though – obvious as they may seem – the unchanging principles which govern the education we offer at Fyling Hall. Safety: We protect children from harm, both physically, with sensible rules and risk management, and emotionally, with sound and sensitive pastoral care. Academic Attainment: We carefully identify and maximize the potential of each pupil, through good teaching and warm staff-student relationships based on mutual respect and trust, in an environment conducive to study. Health: Sport, outdoor activity, and nutritious food are intrinsic to the school’s daily life, and we teach the associated life-long health benefits. Character development: By giving increased responsibility to pupils as they grow up, we foster confidence, self-respect, teamwork, and leadership skills. Environmental awareness: We aim to build an appreciation of the school’s beautiful surroundings and heritage into an intelligent concern for a fragile world. Moral and spiritual growth: We both practice and preach the simple, traditional virtues of courtesy, honesty, integrity, pride in appearance and kindness, while encouraging more profound spiritual exploration. Widening horizons: We promote a stimulating range of extra-curricular interests and activities in the arts, current affairs, and community service. View full school

We provide children with a rich variety of teaching and learning experiences that are appropriate to their needs. The Foundation Stage is about developing key learning skills listening, speaking, concentrating, persistence, and learning to work and co-operate with others. The six areas of learning that make up the Foundation Stage Curriculum are: Personal and social development Communication, language, and literacy Mathematical development Knowledge and understanding of the world Physical development Creative development The outdoor environment is also a special part of the Foundation Stage curriculum. Our use of the outdoor areas is carefully planned as regularly as the weather allows! The reception classes have their own specially equipped outdoor area which is planned for and in continuous use.

Bullying is not always easy to define, but as it is harmful to everyone involved we believe that bullying is made up of actions that:- Are repetitive, wilful, or persistent Are intentionally harmful, carried out by a group or by individuals Create an imbalance of power that leaves a victim feeling defenseless Children sometimes bully others if they do not know that what they are doing is wrong if they are copying others if they haven’t learned better ways to mix with children, if their friends encourage them to or if they are going through a difficult time and they are acting out aggressive feelings. To help you can: Explain to your child that what they are doing is unacceptable and makes others unhappy. Show your child how to join in with others without bullying. Discourage other members of your family from using aggression or force to get what they want. Give your child lots of praise and encouragement when they are cooperative and kind. View full school

  23. Furness Primary School aims to provide a safe and positive atmosphere that stimulates a working environment and where children can achieve high standards through a solid foundation of teaching across a creative and broadly balanced curriculum. We endeavor to provide all of our children with the skills needed to develop positive attitudes, where mutual respect, values, and sensitivity are nurtured within a culturally diverse community. The choir and other talented students took part in a Spring music concert organized by Mr. Francis. They performed so well, making their parents very proud. Year 5 and 6 children took part in a Badminton tournament. We welcomed at Furness the NSPCC which is a leading children's charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK, Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man. They help children who have been abused to rebuild their lives, protect those at risk, and find the best ways of preventing abuse from ever happening online and in person. Furness Primary School was opened in 1908 as a council school and officially closed as such, transforming into a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) linked with Oakington Manor, Wembley in 2016. Furness has originally constructed three stories high but was unfortunately bombed during World War 2 and damaged to the extent that the topmost level could not be saved. However, the building is still able to boast two large stories with mezzanines and a basement the latter was recently transformed into a modern and spacious conference room/after-school club. It has two play areas for the pupils, all equipped with modern safe-play structures for both infants and juniors. Within the premises are spacious classrooms, catering for two form entry, plus extra rooms which have allowed the school to take on three form entry for three cohorts over the past six years. These rooms provide invigorating learning environments. The school also has two performance/ reception/PE halls, a library, several rooms used for focused intervention teaching, an ICT suite, and numerous washroom facilities. At Furness Primary Academy we follow the National Curriculum. We use a banded book approach to reading. This means that we use a variety of different reading scheme books and books which are not within reading schemes. Books are graded by difficulty and labeled by colored groups. Ranging from wordless picture books to full chapter books, they gradually increase in difficulty, length, and technical elements. We also use specialist reading schemes to support pupils with specific reading difficulties. These are often high interest with low reading ages. At Furness Primary we teach phonics using 'Letters and sounds'. We provide daily speaking and listening activities that are well matched to children’s developing abilities and interests, drawing upon observations and assessments to plan for progression. Within our lower age groups, we have dedicated daily phonic teaching sessions so that children become familiar with their letters and sounds. Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally in February each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people and inspire a national conversation. The theme this year is "create, connect and share respect: a safer internet begins with you." At Furness, we are dedicating the safer use of the internet. All computing lessons will emphasize the importance of being safe online. E-safety is part of the computing curriculum but offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. We believe that every young person should have the chance for a positive future. Together we can encourage children to make wise life choices: to stay in school, stay out of gangs and knife crime, and work hard to realize their incredible potential. At the end of each school term, students at Furness have the chance to take part in sports tournaments. This is an excellent way to consolidate skills learned throughout the term, and a great opportunity to develop healthy competitions across the school with a very strong PE and PSHE theme but also to reward children for their hard work and to challenge all the talent we have in school. To enter, teams had to mix players from different year groups which added more cooperation between students. All children in the RED house had the chance to take part in a Bench ball tournament in the last week of the term as a reward for collecting the most points. View full school

  25. We are a small school and therefore offer a more personalized education than many other schools. This website can only give a flavor of what Fulneck School has to offer. Please do come and visit – you will always be made welcome at Fulneck School. Fulneck School’s academic results speak for themselves and the School is proud of its position in the top 5% of all schools and colleges in England last year. With our diverse curriculum, we are constantly able to help our pupils to fulfill, if not exceed, their academic potential. Whether it be pupils with Oxbridge aspirations or those needing expert care from our award-winning Learning Support Unit, Fulneck School is equipped to help each individual succeed. Just as important, however, are the ambitions, skills, and personal attributes that are developed through a Fulneck education. Whether it be music, sport, drama, or the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, pupils learn how to succeed as individuals and as teams. As adults, we know that those characteristics are, in the end, as important as exam qualifications in determining our success in the real world. A Fulneck education opens doors for its pupils, giving them the tools and skills they need to approach the next stage of their careers with confidence and enthusiasm. Our committed and expert staff inspire our pupils to gain a love of learning, an inquisitive mind, the confidence to try new things, and old-fashioned Yorkshire grit to pick themselves up if at first, they don’t succeed. Where we differ from other schools, however, is in our emphasis on making a positive contribution to the society around us, whether that be in West Yorkshire, the UK, or further afield like Benjamin Latrobe. Our pupils are outward-looking, empathetic, and humble. We are a diverse yet close-knit community with a family feel to it. The welcome you will receive is incredibly warm – do come and experience it for yourself. Our Mission At Fulneck we aim to develop young people with active and enquiring minds with a sense of compassion and understanding for others and the courage to act on their beliefs. We will strive for excellence in all areas of our school and celebrate achievement. We will recognize that every pupil is unique and we will support each individual in realizing their full potential. We will actively promote the traditional Christian values of care, compassion, humility, honesty, and integrity and these values will remain at the heart of our community. We will foster an atmosphere of respect for ourselves and one another. We will take pride in our school and the Fulneck Community. To achieve these aims, Fulneck will: Provide a happy, supportive, and nurturing environment in which pupils can learn. Challenge, inspire and support pupils as individuals to grow intellectually, personally, and spiritually. Deliver a broad, balanced, and relevant curriculum. Celebrate achievement and success. Set high expectations for the pupils. Ensure that every pupil feels secure and respected. Raise the profile of boarding and provide our boarders with a happy and homely environment where they can thrive in a family atmosphere of care and respect. Provide a broad range of extra-curricular activities. Provide a positive atmosphere where children want to learn. Maintain good relationships and effective communication with parents. Support and develop a professional and cohesive staff team. Prepare pupils to be responsible citizens and leaders in a fast-changing and complex world.
