- Goytre Fawr Primary is a busy but friendly school, with lots going on. This website aims to give you a taster of our wonderful school, as well as providing up to date information for parents, pupils and the wider community. Walk tall with pride and assurance knowing that you are valued for your individuality, efforts, and achievements. Two of our pupils came up with our school motto ‘Walk tall, think big, grow together and it was designed by Nicci Poulsom, one of our talented Teaching Assistants. Nicci also created our fabulous mosaics that were made by pupils, staff, and Governors and are featured on the front cover. Goytre Fawr Primary is an English Medium Community School, which has been serving the local area since 1852. It is situated in extensive grounds that provide an attractive and stimulating environment in which to learn. The Welsh curriculum is undergoing significant change following a review carried out in 2015. The new curriculum is being developed nationally and is due to be implemented from 2020. As a school, we are adapting the current curriculum to bring it more in line with how the new curriculum will be structured. Across the school, there is a focus on experiential learning that is based on real purposes. Pupils are far more involved in their learning with the use of the pupil's voice as a focus in all classes. Wherever possible areas of learning are taught in a cross-curricular way with the key skills of literacy, numeracy, and digital competence being taught, where appropriate, in all lessons. As a school, we are moving towards these areas when we are planning children’s learning. Our world is changing rapidly so we must provide a skills-based curriculum that provides our pupils with the confidence to succeed in any career path they choose. View full school
