In Govan High School we strive to ensure that all young people achieve their full potential. Through our delivery of Curriculum for Excellence, we ensure that pupils experience a broad general education that delivers breadth, depth, and challenge in learning until the end of their third year. Pupils are then able to build on this as they move into the senior phase with a curriculum that offers progression, the opportunity for academic attainment to the highest level possible as well as opportunities for pupils to follow vocational programs. No matter the pathway a young person chooses we can support each of our learners on their journey towards a positive and sustained destination.
In Govan High School we aim to develop in all young people the skills and values needed to go on to be successful in life. Through a wealth of activities, all young people are allowed to build a portfolio of wider achievements, often gaining awards and accreditation for these. Our focus on skills across the curriculum also ensures that all young people gain the skills needed for learning, life, and work. Through our partnerships in the wider community, we can offer our pupils many opportunities to gain experience in the workplace, helping to develop our young workforce and enhance their employability skills.

Govan High School is a non-denominational, co-educational, comprehensive school that caters to pupils aged 12-18. The school can trace its history back to 1874, although the name Govan High dates from 1 February 1910. Govan High moved to its present site in 1969 when the present building was opened by Mr. Anthony Hepper who was Chairman of Upper Clyde Shipbuilders at that time. The refurbished building was re-opened by Sir Alex Ferguson CBE on 12 September 2002. Sir Alex is a former pupil. The school celebrated its centenary year in 2010.
