Confidence in a school comes from knowing and understanding what is happening within it. We hope to pass on information to you as parents, but also to learn from you about your children and how best we can plan for their future. It is important that mutual understanding and trust should be the basis of our shared responsibility. Bryn Deva School is a 4-11 years Primary School with approximately 300 children on the roll.
Bryn Deva School opened in 1958. Sited close to the banks of the River Dee, it is set amidst a pleasant residential housing estate in the thriving town of Connah’s Quay. The school is also bordered by parkland. The school site is large and 3 appealing, with copious playing fields, including football and netball areas and a full running track, a managed conservation area, a large hard play area, enclosed trim trail, and smaller playground areas, and a Flying Start pre-school on site. We have two members of staff who are fully trained in Forest Schools and we make strong use of our outdoor areas to improve the learning experience of the children.
The school has excellent facilities including an iMac suite, 30 Chromebooks, 30 pads and 30 net-books, a spacious well-stocked library, a nurture group and a full range of additional needs provision areas, a capacious hall with a permanent stage and a full range of gymnasium equipment and extensive outdoor areas for the children in the Foundation Phase. Class sizes are deliberately kept relatively small, at least three members of staff in the Foundation Phase classes, and all KS2 classes have a teaching assistant for at least half of the day, as well as a teacher. We also have a full after-school club on-site running until 5.30 pm, and operate a holiday club in the summer holidays (8 am-5 pm). Breakfast Club opens at 7.45 am for £2 and is free for all children from 8.13 am, however, we request that parents donate 50p towards Breakfast Club.
