    Job Description DUTIES: Responsible for sourcing, validating, and releasing brake controllers for production. Address all controller and system safety concerns. Lead and support product issue investigations (Problem Resolution Tracking System – PRTS), continuous process improvements, standard methodologies, lessons learned, and quality improvement initiatives. Gather all necessary documents for sourcing and provide technical expertise during purchasing process. Facilitate requirements and design reviews with suppliers, algorithm, and software groups (DFMEA, DRBFM, Peer Reviews). Negotiate changes from supplier, Electrical Architecture, Controls, Software and Cyber Security Engineers and update controller requirement documents.Organize and lead key Controller Product Development Team (PDT) meetings. Lead investigations on software related issues. Own and release the software for development and production. Manage part number proliferation for the embedded controller (end model part number, software, and calibration parts). Create and manage controller validation plans--Worst Case Analysis, Bench (Design Demo), Design and Process Validation. Coordinate activities and manage a full test plan including required supplier testing as well as all other testing required to validate component including, but not limited to: applicable regulatory testing, subsystem integration testing, system safety testing, cybersecurity, etc. Keep supplier(s) on trackto meet key milestones (design freeze, gate reviews for prototype levels, validation start and complete dates). Work with the supplier to develop Validation Cross Reference Index (VCRIs) to ensure all requirements are mapped to appropriate validation procedures. Author validation requirements for new sourcing activities and provide as corporate Appendix G2. Issue part salable status based on successful completion of all required testing. Monitor design changes in production (via Change Notices). Controller warranty analysis, issue resolution, parts restriction and report updates as required to team leadership/CPIT. Lead annual validation requirements. Supplier and Vehicle Assembly plant visits as required. Train, coach, mentor other team members of the scrum team on the roles of a Controls DRE.     Job Description The Controls Engineer will support the design, construction, integration, launch, and continuous improvement of controls-based manufacturing systems, with balanced ownership across automation, machine vision, and robotics. This position is best suited for an execution-focused engineer who can combine hands-on controls expertise, strong problem solving, and project execution in a fast-paced plant and manufacturing engineering environment. Core responsibilities Execute automation, machine vision, and robotics scope for new equipment, major upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.Support development, review, and implementation of controls hardware architecture, software design, integration plans, and equipment runoff activities.Diagnose and correct deficiencies in manufacturing controls processes, equipment performance, and system reliability.Support plant operations by solving controls issues and driving improvements in safety, quality, throughput, cost, and performance.Stay current on emerging controls technologies and support deployment of new automation, robotics, and vision capabilities with low launch risk.Work cross-functionally with manufacturing engineering, plant engineering, suppliers, skilled trades, IT/PFS, and other launch teams to deliver program timing and business objectives.Coordinate with more senior engineers and technical leads to escalate risks, align on standards, and close gaps.Recommend process improvements and support standardization across controls execution, robotics, and vision applications.Required qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.Relevant controls engineering experience in manufacturing or manufacturing engineering environments.Strong knowledge of electrical/control systems and the ability to apply that knowledge in production environments.Experience with PLC/HMI programming, industrial networks, and controls system troubleshooting.Experience with robotics integration, setup, or programming in automated manufacturing systems.Working knowledge of machine vision / error-proofing / automated inspection applications.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple technical assignments with solid autonomy and accountability for results.Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving capability.Preferred qualifications Experience in controls architecture, standards, or common controls solutions.Experience supporting launch execution, equipment buyoff, plant installation, and production startup.Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, industrial Ethernet, and related plant-floor interfaces.Experience with error-proofing, vision-guided applications, or automated inspection systems in manufacturing.Demonstrated initiative in supporting teammates, driving follow-through, and identifying improvement opportunities within the work area.
