Job DescriptionWhen a championship final streams to hundreds of millions of viewers without a single buffer — when a retailer absorbs ten times normal traffic on the busiest shopping day of the year — when a public service stays reachable through a nation-scale DDoS attack — that's AWS infrastructure, operating invisibly beneath it all. AWS CloudFront sits at the center of nearly every major internet event. Our Control Plane is its decision-making brain: we don't serve the bytes — we govern how, where, and under what rules they move across 700+ edge locations worldwide. Every configuration change, every enforced policy, every rotated certificate flows through the systems we own. We build, we ship, we operate what we own. And the biggest bet we're making right now is this: the days of manually clicking through consoles to configure infrastructure are numbered. We're building what replaces it. Today, customers manage CloudFront, WAF, and Shield through consoles, CLIs, and APIs. Tomorrow, they'll describe what they want, and intelligent systems will make it happen — reasoning through tradeoffs, proposing changes with full transparency, and executing safely on a global scale. We're hiring an SDE II to build the intelligent layer between customer intent and infrastructure execution — unifying content delivery, web application security, and DDoS defense into a single, agentic surface. You'll work at the intersection of distributed systems, applied AI, and developer experience, shipping production autonomy into one of the most critical networks on the internet. Key job responsibilities- Design and ship agentic console experiences that replace static configuration workflows with conversational interfaces backed by real-time visualization and observability for CloudFront, WAF, and Shield.- Build the agent experience (AX) layer, including the skills, protocols, and tooling that enable first- and third-party AI agents to safely configure, observe, and optimize edge infrastructure.- Architect autonomous planning systems that decompose customer goals into validated, multi-service infrastructure operations at global scale.- Engineer proactive detection and recommendation engines that surface security gaps, performance issues, and configuration drift before customers notice.- Integrate natural-language interaction into the management surface so customers can ask operational questions and receive answers grounded in their real-time telemetry.- Develop higher-level infrastructure abstractions (Terraform modules, CDK patterns) that reduce complexity for infrastructure-as-code workflows.- Own features end-to-end, from design doc through implementation, testing, deployment, and production operation.- Work backwards from customers to identify problems, propose innovative solutions, and raise the bar on quality, accessibility, and performance.- Collaborate across organizational boundaries with AI/ML platform, application security, observability, and partner teams to deliver integrated experiences.- Establish engineering patterns, testing strategies, operational runbooks, and architectural standards the broader team adopts.- Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through design reviews, code reviews, and helping the team navigate ambiguity with clarity.- Participate in on-call rotation to troubleshoot and resolve production issues, keeping stakeholders and customers informed.- Stay current with front-end and applied-AI advances and bring new ideas into how the console evolves.A day in the lifeAs an SDE II, you'll solve hard problems at AWS scale and influence millions of customers who rely on CloudFront, WAF, and Shield. You'll own and deliver large features end to end — from planning through implementation at a pace measured in weeks, not years.Working with designers, product managers, and partner teams, you'll build the services and intelligent console experiences that govern how content and security move across the edge. You'll improve the customer experience directly: shipping agentic workflows, fixing bugs and performance issues, sharpening diagnostics and metrics, and acting on user feedback — delivering software with Agile practices that makes a measurable impact at internet scale. About the teamWe're the CloudFront Console team building the management surface for one of the internet's largest content delivery and security networks. Our mission is to reinvent how customers interact with CloudFront, WAF, and Shield: moving from static configuration screens to an intelligent, agentic console that understands customer intent, reasons about it, and surfaces trustworthy proposals backed by real-time visualization and observability. Our culture is evidence over opinion, teaching over gatekeeping, and ownership over delegation. We value small, frequent changes, measure outcomes rather than hours, and protect focus time so builders can build. We're in the early chapters of a multi-year transformation of the console experience — and intelligent, agentic automation is the central thesis. Why Join Us- Genuine autonomy at genuine scale — Not a proof-of-concept. Production intelligent systems governing billions of daily requests across the internet's most demanding customers. - Foundational timing — We're defining the architecture now. You won't inherit legacy decisions — you'll make the decisions others inherit. - The full stack of the future — From agentic console experiences to AX protocols to AI-driven internal development, you'll touch every layer of where infrastructure management is headed. - Unified problem space — Content delivery, application security, and DDoS defense treated as one surface. The engineering complexity is real and rewarding. - Industry-shaping work — How humans and AI collaborate to manage infrastructure is an unsolved problem everywhere. The patterns you establish here will influence the industry for a decade. Work-life balance as a practice, not a poster — We protect focus time, we don't celebrate heroics, and we measure output by impact not hours. Basic Qualifications:- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field- Experience programming with at least one software programming language Preferred Qualifications:- 3+ years of building complex software systems experience- Experience with AI/ML systems, LLM integration, or agent architectures- Familiarity with tool-use protocols (MCP, function calling), autonomous agent frameworks, or AI orchestration patterns- Track record building distributed systems at scale- Knowledge of CDN, networking, or security infrastructure- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CDK) and automated deployment pipelines- Front-end development experience (React, TypeScript) for interactive console surfaces- Strong communication skills and ability to drive technical alignment across teamsAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Job DescriptionAre you passionate about defining what quality means for an entirely new category of enterprise AI product? Do you want to own test strategy in an environment where customer deployments are the ultimate validation? The Alexa Enterprise team is looking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer who thrives in a startup-style environment, builds test frameworks from scratch, and is energized by the challenge of ensuring quality across cloud services, device software, and real-world customer integrations. In this role, you’ll define and own the quality strategy for a platform that enterprise customers across healthcare, energy, retail, and insurance depend on. You’ll work closely with SDEs, product managers, and customers to understand how the platform is deployed in the field — then build the test approaches, automation, and certification criteria that ensure it works reliably in those environments. Your test strategy will be informed by real customer deployments and integration patterns, not just internal specifications. We believe this is how quality engineering evolves — and we’re already seeing it happen here. We’re a small, fast-moving team building AI-powered solutions at the intersection of Alexa AI capabilities and AWS cloud services. Our customers are deploying in environments where the integration challenges are real, the feedback loops are immediate, and quality is measured by what works in the field.Key job responsibilitiesIn this role, you will:• Define and own the end-to-end quality strategy for the Alexa Enterprise platform — spanning cloud services, device software, AI integrations, and customer-facing experiences• Design and build test automation frameworks from scratch to support rapid iteration across a full-stack platform (backend services, frontend, AWS infrastructure, device layer)• Work directly with enterprise customers and field engineers to understand real-world deployment patterns, failure modes, and integration challenges — then translate those into test coverage• Create benchmarking standards, test KPIs, and certification criteria that ensure platform reliability across customer verticals• Develop QA approaches that cover the full system: cloud services, streaming audio, device interactions, authentication flows, and third-party agent integrations• Find, isolate, document, and track bugs through resolution — be a vocal proponent for quality in every phase of development• Collaborate with SDEs on testability of new features, participate in design reviews, and drive engineering best practices around test coverage and operational readiness• Mentor QA engineers and SDEs on quality standards, testing methodologies, and automation best practices• Organize data collection and analysis to inform pass/fail criteria for platform readiness and customer deploymentsA day in the lifeAs a Senior QAE on the Alexa Enterprise team, your morning might start analyzing failure patterns from a pilot customer’s deployment — an authentication flow is failing intermittently and you need to determine whether it’s an edge case in the platform or a configuration gap in their environment. You design a targeted test scenario to reproduce it reliably and add it to the automation suite. Mid-morning, you’re reviewing a new feature’s testability with the dev team — pushing for better observability hooks before it ships. After lunch, you’re updating certification criteria based on patterns you’ve seen across three customer integrations, then presenting quality metrics to the team and making the case for a stability bar that blocks the next release until a flaky interaction is resolved.About the teamThe Alexa Enterprise team builds AI-powered solutions for businesses. We work with enterprise customers across healthcare, energy, retail, and insurance to deploy solutions that transform operations. Our team operates at the intersection of Alexa AI capabilities and AWS cloud services, partnering closely with AWS sales, product, and specialist teams to deliver customer outcomes. Engineers on this team have real ownership — from test strategy through production reliability — and the opportunity to shape quality standards for a platform in its early stages. Basic Qualifications:- 8+ years of quality assurance engineering experience- 5+ years of delivering test frameworks, test tools, leading the QA projects and initiatives experience- Knowledge of QA methodology and tools, with demonstrated experience in an QAE role- Experience in manual testing- Experience in automation testing Preferred Qualifications:- 2+ years of UI Automation (preferably on mobile platforms) experience- Knowledge of at least one modern object-oriented programming language such as C++, Java, Objective CAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Job DescriptionApplicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance with the ability to successfully complete an Organisational Suitability Assessment. For more information regarding security clearances please visit (https://www.agsva.gov.au/).The AWS Region Services team combines AWS global cloud leadership with Australian security expertise to deliver highly secure, scalable environments for sensitive workloads. We’re creating innovative ways to use cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning while maintaining the highest standards of security and operational excellence. The Engineering organisation within Region Services is structured across core capability pillars: Compute & Machine Learning, Security Identity & Compliance, Storage & Databases, and a growing capability domain. Collectively these pillars encompass a team of varying technical skillsets, including Engineers; Technical Program Managers and Subject Matter Experts, organised into focused sub-teams. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on Australia’s digital future. You’ll work with AWS services, implement innovative solutions, and help customers succeed in their most important missions. We’re committed to helping our builders grow through continuous learning, mentoring, and collaboration with industry experts. Are you ready to build the future of secure cloud computing in Australia? Key job responsibilities- Define, build, own, and run services in high growth environments - Solve unique and first-order problems in massive-scale areas such as compute services, DynamoDB/NoSQL databases, Glacier, S3 data lakes and many other AWS Services - Learn how to build and operate distributed systems at massive scale - Build and influence the tools and utilities that are part of the AWS fleet running our internal services A day in the lifeYou'll own services end-to-end in one of the fastest-growing cloud environments in the world. This means defining how they're built, building them with care, operating them with pride, and running them with the reliability that the security community demands. Ownership here is real — these are your services, and their success is your success. You'll solve problems that are genuinely unique. These aren't issues with known solutions waiting to be searched— they're first-order challenges in massive-scale domains. Compute services processing workloads at extraordinary volume. DynamoDB and NoSQL databases operating at throughputs that test the boundaries of distributed systems theory. Glacier and S3 data lakes managing data at a scale that few engineers ever encounter. Each problem you crack builds expertise that sets you apart. You'll learn how to build and operate distributed systems on a massive scale — not through theory alone, but through hands-on experience with production systems that matter. You'll develop an intuition for how large-scale systems behave, how they fail, and how to make them resilient. This knowledge compounds rapidly, accelerating your growth into a world-class systems engineer. And you'll build the tools that make it all possible. The utilities and automation that form part of the AWS fleet running internal services will bear your fingerprints. You'll influence how the team operates, how services are managed, and how the platform evolves — contributing ideas and code that improve the experience for every engineer who follows. About the teamRegion Services provides the highest caliber Operational Solutions and Cleared Support for services within our Regions. We provide 'hands on keyboard' support to our service teams by deploying changes into these isolated regions, monitoring the results, and reporting any issues that are observed.
