Besides the extensive selection, a key appeal of Amazon to our customers is fast, on-time delivery; since the introduction of Prime with 2-day shipping in 2005, Amazon has continuously invested in our fulfillment network to make on-time 1-day and even same day delivery of millions of items a reality for our customers. The delivery promise dates (“promises”) we provide to our customers throughout our retail website – from the search page to the item detail page through to checkout – are computed and vended by services owned by the Promise team. Delivery speed information from Promise is also used for ranking search results and for determining the buy box winner on an item detail page.
