  1. Yamanashi Prefectural University welcomes the community and strives to contribute to vibrant advances through its "glocal" wisdom, which combines global and regional perspectives. As globalization expands rapidly, each local community today must tackle issues such as worsening environmental problems, diversifying market fundamentals, and deciphering technology's advantages and disadvantages from a global point of view. In a natural, industrial, and socially abundant environment like this, YPU is pursuing the university education "as a stronghold of glocal wisdom, can nurture future practical leaders, and is open to the community and faces local society," thereby trying to realize a future-oriented "promising and humanitarian" university for students and academic and administrative staff. In other words, it is our goal to cultivate the ability and skill of individuals who will give the full scope of their abilities in the long term to improve society for the better. To attain this goal, we have selected our teaching staff based on their career experience in the real world. Furthermore, we prioritize general education, which, in our opinion, helps students establish their dignity and self-formation. Also, we offer courses in foreign language communication and computer technology to improve their communication skills and broaden their networks. In professional training, students will learn current regional issues as well as problem-solving methods. They are expected to master expertise and, at the same time, recognize the importance of learning scientific methods and "seeing" the whole scheme comprehensively. Coursework for individual majors emphasize problem-solving strategies and incorporate scientific methods to manage current regional and practical life issues. We teach students to look beyond. Extra-curricular activities will also work. By attending voluntary activities, students are expected to elevate their independence and learn to take the initiative in society through collaborating with people of different backgrounds. At Yamanashi Prefectural University, we urge students to engage in extra-curricular activities. Through collaboration with people outside of the classroom, students learn life skills to succeed and a greater understanding of independence. For such occasions, we have established The University Center for Research and Exchange. The center coordinates the community's demand with the university's intellectual resources. The university has established strong support with residents of Yamanashi Prefecture. We work hard to fulfill people's expectations and contribute to Yamanashi's development; at the same time, we try to contribute from Yamanashi to the nation and beyond to the world. 2. Yamanashi Eiwa College is a small private college that provides an exceptional education based on Christianity's spirit for undergraduate and graduate students. It originated from the Yamanashi Eiwa Girl's School, founded by Canadian Methodist missionaries in 1889. Now we provide learning and engagement opportunities that span the prefecture, the nation, and the world. Our campus is full of flowers and trees, comprised of European-style buildings in the foothills of mountains, which provide beautiful views of Kofu City, Mt. Fuji, and the Japan Southern Alps. This is a place of educational transformation. We keep a Christian spirit with three school mottoes of Respect for God, Love for Others, and Self-Development. We are actively committed to our local community, and many of our courses and programs aim to foster the development of our students and our neighbors. We have several programs to support every aspect of our students' lives so that you will be in the right hands of our staff and faculty. Students at Yamanashi Eiwa College can choose courses from across three academic domains, Psychological Service, Global Studies, and Media Science. The Psychological Service domain provides courses on fundamental psychological theories and research methods. There are also courses and opportunities for professional training and internships at local organizations specializing in psychological care and service. The Global Studies domain provides courses where students can study diverse social and cultural phenomena from a global viewpoint. These courses aim to nurture perspectives that will be helpful even when acting locally in this rapidly globalizing society. The Media Science domain provides courses on using and developing Information and Communication Technology, aiming to foster cutting-edge ideas for improving and solving problems in our daily lives. By cross-cultivating knowledge and ideas from across these three domains, students will better serve the world. We continue to build on a tradition and culture nurtured in the spirit of Christianity for more than 128 years. We live with others, we live for others, and we live by others. We have excellent faculty members in psychology, language, literature, cultural studies, business, and media science. Three academic domains are offered: Psychological Service, Global Studies, and Media Science. Foreign language classes are intensive and practical: native speakers offer classes in English, Chinese, and Korean, and students enjoy learning languages while receiving academic training. Eiwa grants and scholarships are available to international students too so that they can concentrate on their studies. All students, including international students, have an academic advisor to consult for academic issues. In addition to academic support, the International Exchange Office provides support to international students for everyday life matters and plans events to facilitate communication with Japanese students. The counseling center also provides psychological support when needed. View full university
