At Upper Iowa University, an "undergraduate" is anyone who has not previously completed a college degree. That includes students pursuing associate degrees, certificates, or bachelor's degrees. Each program has its requirements for completion. Upper Iowa offers four master's degrees, both online and face-to-face. Master's degrees are available in business administration, education, public administration, and sports administration. The master of education, which has several emphasis areas, is available at Fayette Campus, some off-campus education centers, and online. The MBA is offered at Fayette Campus, evenings at some centers, and online. The master's degrees in public administration and sports administration are offered entirely online. UIU also offers 3-credit graduate courses to teachers: Daily 5 and Daily 3. UIU is the only school authorized to teach these courses in literacy and math skills by their founders, The 2 Sisters. Graduates of the UIU Honors Program have a broad interconnected and ever-evolving view of the world. They are adaptable, self-motivated individuals who constantly challenge their assumptions about the world and their role in it. They have developed the capability to be innovators and leaders in a dynamic global community. Students admitted to the Honors Program in any given year take the same courses as their fellow Honors students during the first two years of their undergraduate years. Each course is interdisciplinary, with active, participatory learning. All Honors courses require extensive, integrated, advanced writing skills. The program begins with an Honors Freshman Seminar, followed by Honors courses in Arts and Humanities, Behavioral Sciences, and Natural Sciences. Seniors complete an Honors project and a thesis in their area of interest. Students that complete the Honors Program will graduate with University Honors. Extra-curricular experiences, such as service-learning, attending professional conferences, and other special events, are integral parts of the program. Student Financial Services encompasses Financial Aid and Student Accounts. Whether you make lump sum payments now or spread payments out over months or years, we strive to provide the services needed to make Upper Iowa University a financial reality for our students. By University Policy, all semester charges, including tuition, room and board, and additional and special fees, are due and payable the Wednesday before the semester. 4. Oak Knoll's mission since its founding in 1924 has been to cultivate intellectual, spiritual, physical, and emotional development in all of our students. Students, along with their families, experience academic programs that encourage excellence in each student, a strong faith commitment, respect and reverence for each person, freedom of expression through the creative arts, a competitive athletic program, and active involvement in campus ministry opportunities that expand their understanding for the global world in which they live. Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child, Judeo-Christian in heritage, Roman Catholic in teaching and worship, is an independent school for boys and girls in kindergarten through grade 6 and young women in grades 7 through 12. The Oak Knoll community commits to the education and growth of the whole child, as envisioned by Cornelia Connelly, the founder of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus. Engaged in the world's challenges, the school cultivates a faith commitment that promotes and inspires a positive personal relationship with God. In a learning climate based on trust and reverence for each person's dignity and uniqueness, Oak Knoll provides an intellectually challenging and creative program of study that fosters excellence in every aspect of school life and prepares our graduates to "meet the wants of the age." Welcoming a diverse student body, our learning community develops inquisitive students who think critically, embrace knowledge, respond with moral and ethical integrity, and make responsible choices that enrich their own lives and contribute to the lives of others. As a Holy Child School, we believe: God is central in our lives. A nurturing educational environment supports the development of mind, body, and spirit. A rich and engaging curriculum promotes intellectual and personal growth. An open mind leads to a lifetime of learning. All voices deserve to be heard and respected. Each person has gifts and talents that enrich the community. Understanding and appreciating differences lead to the celebration of diversity. A cooperative spirit and generous nature are essential to living the Holy Child philosophy. Each person is called to work for principles of justice, peace, and compassion in every facet of life. Research tells us that girls, particularly adolescent girls, thrive in the single-sex classroom because all-girls middle and high school classrooms, offer young women exceptional opportunities. Our rigorous college prep, middle, and high school curriculum develop qualities essential to a meaningful life — qualities such as self-discipline, self-confidence, leadership, critical thinking, respect for diversity of ideologies, and the ability to solve problems. In our all-girls 9-12 high school academic program, nearly all girls take four years of math and science. All Oak Knoll students take physics, chemistry, and biology. Many students take a fourth year of science in one of the advanced placement offerings or the honors science electives program. Our ninth grade Physics First Program challenges even the most prepared science student to think in new ways and to gain a comprehensive understanding of the natural sciences. Our college-prep program truly prepares the girls for the world ahead of them as Oak Knoll students travel, whether in the classroom or as an exchange student in Australia, Europe, or Canada. As part of the academic program, all students take three years of a foreign language to achieve proficiency in speaking and writing a language. Our middle and high school girls find the foreign language curriculum encourages them to appreciate global connections. They begin to understand the world today demands understanding and appreciation of world cultures. Our middle and high school curriculum is rich with an interdisciplinary study that spans departments and promotes holistic learning. View full school

  6. Upper Columbia Academy's history began in the 1920s when Yakima Valley Academy was formed. That school had to close down because the young people were causing it to split at the seams. Walls were held together by metal cables mounted on both sides of the rooms. They had to find a more prominent place. Elder Mote, Upper Columbia Conference president at the time, was permitted by constituents to spend no more than $100,000 for a school. Surprisingly, Elder Mote's was the only bid, and YVA got it, along with 15 hogs that they sold for $1500 to provide operating capital for the first year of school. After the move, the academy was renamed Upper Columbia Academy. Core Values & Objectives are: Relationship With Christ: Upper Columbia Academy is a school where students actively seek a relationship with Christ through prayer, Bible study, service, and evangelism. Family Atmosphere: The staff and community at Upper Columbia Academy care deeply for youth and invest their time and resources to build Christ-centered relationships with students. Student Leadership: We equip students to serve humanity by empowering them with leadership responsibility today. Academic Diversity: We provide high quality, diverse curriculum offering students many alternatives to meet their academic needs. School Objectives areas: Relational Social growth consistent with Biblical standards Unselfish service to church, family, and community Appreciation of the worth of all people Personal mission to take the gospel to the World Preparation for the soon return of Jesus Physical Healthful living habits Appreciation of the value and dignity of labor Mental Strong academic foundations Intellectual curiosity Critical thinking Learning experiences that reflect Seventh-day Adventist values Self-motivated life-long learning skills Aesthetic values and talents Challenge for educational excellence Spiritual A growing knowledge of God as Creator and Sustainer of life Development of a Christian Character Ethical Christian decision-making Utilization of Christian principles in the use of their God-given talents Appreciation for the Word of God Prayer, worship, and faith experience Recognition of God's complete ownership Mission Statement: By the Grace of God, Upper Columbia Academy educates students to develop the physical, mental, and spiritual powers harmoniously, inspiring a life-changing relationship with God and the highest service for others. Upper Columbia Academy is a family of curious learners who believe that proper education addresses a whole person's potential in a balanced development of the physical, mental, spiritual, and social dimensions. While we value the rigorous pursuit of knowledge, our main objective is to help students develop a solid Christian character, realize their worth as children of God, embrace Christian values, and learn to make moral choices. This goal is best reached in a context of responsible freedom and redemptive discipline. The curriculum reflects the worldview and the values revealed in scripture. Students are educated to embrace service as a way of life, be sensitive to people's needs in the home and society, and become active church members. Young people are encouraged to accept Jesus Christ as Creator, Savior, Lord, and Coming King and commit their lives to Him. View full school
  7. We are very pleased to welcome you to our school. We are a one form entry primary school, catering for children from 3 to 11 years old. As a church school, we serve the diverse local community and pride ourselves on our supportive, inclusive ethos. Our vision statement highlights our commitment to providing all our children with the opportunity and encouragement to excel and achieve success in a stimulating and safe environment. One of the advantages of our small school is the relationships that we develop with our pupils and parents and we work incredibly hard to ensure that the experience every child has at school is a positive and happy one. We always look for ways to further improve our school and some of the key areas that we are focusing on in the year ahead are set out in our School Development Plan (SDP). We strive to deliver a curriculum that will inspire and challenge our children. Our vision statement outlines the aspirations we have for our school and its children. This is underpinned by our core values. As a Church of England school, much of what to do is shaped by our Christian values such as friendship, perseverance, and thankfulness. These link to our shared British values: Democracy Individual liberty The rule of law mutual respect Tolerance We are a visionary school that seeks to instill a lifelong love of learning. Our core Christian values will inspire and prepare our children to lead successful and fulfilling lives". St John’s is a small, caring Church of England Primary School. It is committed to supporting our pupils to be happy, successful, and fulfilled throughout their lives. We believe that everyone is unique and valued by God. We aspire to be a high achieving school that provides an outstanding education: Being inclusive, celebrating diversity, and valuing all religions, faiths, cultures, and backgrounds Providing a rich and stimulating curriculum that will inspire and challenge Being a happy, healthy, and safe place Providing excellent care, guidance, and support With a strong partnership between school, parents, and the community We seek to promote core values within our children, preparing them for a successful life, being: Considerate and respectful with excellent manners Confident, happy, independent, and self-motivated Co-operative and collaborative Honest and trustworthy Resilient, hardworking, and determined Highly principled with moral, spiritual, cultural, and social awareness, including shared British Values At St John's we follow the New National Curriculum for all subjects and have worked hard to ensure that it is delivered in a way that is creative, inspiring, and challenging. We believe that the following key principles are important in our curriculum. Breadth - We teach all subjects in the national curriculum and also try to provide ample opportunities to support children's spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development. Balance - We try to ensure that sufficient time and weight are given to each subject so that children achieve well the national expectations. Creativity - We believe that children learn best when they can make links, both within and between subjects. We teach our humanities and science through a cross-curricular approach, enabling our pupils to apply the core skills of literacy and maths within a context. We also try to deliver lessons in a variety of ways to support children with different learning styles and needs - visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic. Inspiring and relevant - Children learn best when they are engaged and stimulated by their learning and we try to ensure that our curriculum reflects this with units of work that will enthuse and motivate. Challenging - We have high expectations for all our children from when they enter Nursery to when they leave in Year 6. Our curriculum reflects this and, combined with our focus on consistent quality teaching, ensures our children leave St John's prepared for the next stages of their learning, including being "secondary ready". Our topics are cross-curricular and have a wide range of trips planned to inspire the children's learning. Our children and parents particularly like our whole school projects such as science week or Carnival where we work together to bring learning to life and have fun. We believe that all children should be challenged and stimulated to achieve the very best they can at St John’s. Lessons are carefully differentiated to ensure that teaching and learning are accurately matched to the needs of all pupils, including the ablest. We also have a range of additional groups and activities to provide opportunities for our most able pupils to excel. These include our “Bookworms” reading group, “mad scientists club” and art club. We also have peripatetic music lessons to provide opportunities for our keen musicians. View full school
  8. A school that has achieved so many things already and I intend to ensure that this continues in the future. Whilst being proud of our excellent performance in examinations, we realize that schools are about more than this and aim to ensure that all of our pupils access a wide range of enrichment activities. The school is unique in that, whilst being an 11-18 school with a popular and successful sixth form, it is organized into two distinct sites (lower and upper school) on the same campus. This means that pupils have the benefit of feeling part of a much smaller school yet with all the benefits of being part of a large school. At the core of the success of Brynteg School is a strong and focussed pastoral system. Only happy pupils learn and our provision ensures that this is the case. At times, when needed, pupils know that there is a caring system in place which will meet their needs and allow them to access learning. Every year, pupils, parents, and carers are invited into school to our Open Evening. This is an opportunity to see just what makes Brynteg so special. Details of the evening can be found on the main page of this website or by visiting our Twitter feed (@BryntegSchool) or Facebook page (Brynteg School). You are more than welcome to visit the school when it is session, all we ask is that you contact us in advance for us to ensure that the necessary arrangements are made. The pupils and staff are justifiably proud of the school. Thank you for taking the time to read this and please, take up the offer of visiting us to find out why the pupils and staff are so proud of this wonderful school. View full school

An IB World School, UCC enrolls 1,170 boys in Senior Kindergarten through Year 12, including 88 boarding students representing 26 countries, and has 12,500 alumni in more than 80 countries. The Board includes 15 governors, eight of whom are appointed by the Board for four-year terms. Three are elected by the UCC Association for three-year terms and four are ex-officio members, under the Upper Canada College Act. The President of the UCC Foundation attends all meetings. The College’s Principal reports to the Board. To reach the Board Secretary. The College has set a course for the next decade — leading to the College’s bicentennial — through its Strategic Directions: Towards 2029. This renewed vision and mission hinges on the intention to provide transformational learning experiences and inspire boys to be their best selves. A UCC experience is about more than just an appreciation of diversity it is about celebrating differences, cherishing similarities, and giving voice to multiple perspectives. Through an understanding and appreciation of pluralism we create a more inclusive community, and in turn, create a more just society where we work towards the common good. To honor Sir John Colborne’s founding commitment to public purpose, UCC inspires boys to become service-oriented leaders who understand their unique qualities about others, have humility and empathy, and recognize their ability to positively influence change. At UCC we embrace the opportunity and responsibility to make a difference in our local and global communities. UCC’s culture is characterized by teamwork, collaboration, mutual respect, and a fundamental belief in our Vision and Mission. We appreciate and value each individual, fostering strong and trusting relationships throughout our community. We stand by each other, offering support and care, and we foster in our boys the very best characteristics of brotherhood. To foster individual and institutional wellbeing, UCC is committed to a learning and working environment that is safe, healthy, meaningful, engaging, and supportive. A UCC education equips each boy with the capabilities to develop the knowledge, self-awareness, and strengths of character that enable lifelong resilience and allow him to flourish. UCC’s academic journey, from Senior Kindergarten to Year 12, is delivered through the full continuum of International Baccalaureate Programmes, globally recognized as the gold standard for university preparation. Students graduate with both the International Baccalaureate Diploma and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Building on our leadership in boys’ learning and International Baccalaureate education, we are completing the candidacy phase of the IB Middle Years Programme, intending to become North America’s first boys’ IB Continuum World School. It’s our firm intention to be regarded as a model of best practice in the delivery of IB programming. A robust system of academic support awaits each boy, empowering him to meet the challenges of the academic program and to reach his full potential. Our large network of dedicated professionals including faculty at the renowned Richard Wernham & Julia West Centre for Learning. While transformational learning is the hallmark of a UCC education, the proof of its success is how our boys take their experience forward. Not only do our graduates regularly gain admission to the post-secondary schools of their choice—they thrive there, many receiving scholarships and university credit for advanced courses. 12. Through understanding the unique nature of each child, we aim to inspire children to become creative, independent thinkers, competent communicators and to build positive relationships. We wish them to care for the world around them and be happy, confident, enquiring individuals who love to learn and contribute to their school and other communities. The Children’s House was set up in 1973 by a group of local parents to provide high-quality early years education in Islington. It was initially run in the home of a founding parent and subsequently in a rented hall in St Stephen’s Church on Canonbury Road. Parents and staff longed for the Nursery to have a home of its own and in 1991, following various fund-raising schemes, the parents were able to purchase a Methodist chapel on Elmore Street which was operating at the time as the first Hindu UK base of the Swaminarayan temple, now known as the Neasden temple and located in North London. Parents wanted to build on the Nursery provision and in September 2005 we took on the lease of a Victorian School building on King Henry’s Walk, hitherto St Jude and St Paul’s Infant School. The Upper School was refurbished and offers Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. It is a distance of 0.7 miles from the Nursery School. The Upper School has three large classrooms, an enclosed playground, and direct access and sole use during school hours of two large church halls. The School has a garden plot at King Henry’s Walk Community Garden. OUR EDUCATIONAL AIMS FOR EACH CHILD: To inspire a love of learning through a creative curriculum offering breadth, depth, and enrichment To promote self-awareness, self-confidence, and self-esteem To motivate to always do their best To develop genuine respect and value for others and the environment To develop an appreciation for the rich diversity in our School and all around us To provide a firm foundation that equips each child with the skills and passion for lifelong learning To develop the full potential of each child throughout their time in our School and prepare them to move on to the next stage in their education In Year 1 and Year 2 we follow the National Curriculum and prepare children for the 7+ entry into independent schools. There is a strong emphasis on encouraging children’s ability in the core skills of reading, writing, and maths. We place a high value on our ethos of pastoral care through which children’s personal, social and emotional skills can be sensitively developed and supported by both their teachers and by one another. Children are taught in small classes led by fully qualified teachers and supported by Teaching Assistants and specialist teachers. Subjects are taught through topics. Foundation subjects and Science are taught in blocks so that children can immerse themselves in the topics. Topics are linked through an overarching ‘umbrella’ theme to enable children to make connections across the curriculum and to experience breadth and depth in their learning. In Year 1 the termly umbrella themes for the year are Ourselves, Homes, and Plants & Animals. In Year 2 they are an Island Home, Transport and Health & the Environment. In phonics, children work each day with Phases 2-6 in ‘Letters & Sounds’. We use fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and drama in reading schemes such as Storyworld, Oxford Reading Tree, Collins Big Cat. Children are heard to read independently and in guided reading groups. Children have daily handwriting practice, learning pre-cursive script in Year 1 and moving on to joined-up writing in Year 2. There is a weekly spelling list to learn. Children are taught grammar, punctuation, and related vocabulary. Writing is a complex process for children to master as they bring together skills in phonics, spelling, handwriting, grammar, and punctuation, to write their own stories, keep diaries, record facts, make lists, label drawings, and compose poetry. Children learn about the major religions in their RE lessons. We warmly welcome children and parents who would like to share special faith celebrations with us. We visit local places of worship and Year 2 children visit the Neasden Temple. View full school
