At Upper Iowa University, an "undergraduate" is anyone who has not previously completed a college degree. That includes students pursuing associate degrees, certificates, or bachelor's degrees. Each program has its requirements for completion.
Upper Iowa offers four master's degrees, both online and face-to-face. Master's degrees are available in business administration, education, public administration, and sports administration. The master of education, which has several emphasis areas, is available at Fayette Campus, some off-campus education centers, and online. The MBA is offered at Fayette Campus, evenings at some centers, and online. The master's degrees in public administration and sports administration are offered entirely online.
UIU also offers 3-credit graduate courses to teachers: Daily 5 and Daily 3. UIU is the only school authorized to teach these courses in literacy and math skills by their founders, The 2 Sisters.
Graduates of the UIU Honors Program have a broad interconnected and ever-evolving view of the world. They are adaptable, self-motivated individuals who constantly challenge their assumptions about the world and their role in it. They have developed the capability to be innovators and leaders in a dynamic global community.
Students admitted to the Honors Program in any given year take the same courses as their fellow Honors students during the first two years of their undergraduate years. Each course is interdisciplinary, with active, participatory learning. All Honors courses require extensive, integrated, advanced writing skills. The program begins with an Honors Freshman Seminar, followed by Honors courses in Arts and Humanities, Behavioral Sciences, and Natural Sciences.
Seniors complete an Honors project and a thesis in their area of interest. Students that complete the Honors Program will graduate with University Honors. Extra-curricular experiences, such as service-learning, attending professional conferences, and other special events, are integral parts of the program.
Student Financial Services encompasses Financial Aid and Student Accounts. Together, our staff helps parents and students understand the costs associated with an Upper Iowa University education and find means to meet those costs. Through federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs, as well as a variety of educational loan options and a payment plan program, we help families manage the cost of quality education. Whether you make lump sum payments now or spread payments out over months or years, we strive to provide the services needed to make Upper Iowa University a financial reality for our students. By University Policy, all semester charges, including tuition, room and board, and additional and special fees, are due and payable the Wednesday before the semester. Payment plans must be in place by Wednesday before the semester if charges will not be paid in full.

Returning to college can be challenging for adults balancing a career, family, and community obligations. Our distance learning options provide maximum flexibility, allowing you to attend class at any time of day that fits your schedule.
Upper Iowa is a nationally recognized leader in distance education, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees. Students can study in our award-winning distance-learning Online Program or our Self Paced Degree Program. Students have global access, with no need to be on campus for a residency requirement. We serve over 3,000 degree-seeking students from around the world through distance education.
UIU's Online Program offers asynchronous courses so that you can attend class anytime during the day or night. You will actively and substantively participate in discussions on course topics that enhance your learning. The Online Program offers five 8-week classes and an accelerated, 6-week summer session each year so that you never need to wait more than two months to start classes.
Upper Iowa University (UIU), founded in 1857, is a private, not-for-profit comprehensive university. UIU has a traditional, residential campus in Fayette, Iowa, and 20 off-campus educational centers in the United States; also, UIU has educational centers in Hong Kong and Malaysia.
