      1. TEI of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (TEI AMG) was founded in 1976 under the name TEI of Kavala. The form it has today is the result of many institutional reforms and changes. It first functioned as Center of Higher Technical Education (KATE), one year later as a Center for Higher Technical Vocational Education (KATEE), and in 1983 as a Technological Educational Institute (TEI). In 2001, as a Higher Technological Educational Institution (ASEI) and since 2007 as a Higher Educational Institution (AEI). The educational process at TEI AMG is carried out by the members of the OP (permanent), which are divided into four classes: a) Professor, b) Associate Professor, c) Assistant Professor, and d) Professor of Applications. The members of the OP are assisted in their work by Scientific and Laboratorial Associates (extraordinary), by Laboratory Technicians, and by Administrators. It consists of the President, the Deans of Schools, representatives of the professors, the number of which is equal to the number of faculties elected by the General Assembly of the School, a representative of undergraduate students, a representative of graduate students, and a representative of the candidates of doctoral students. The Deputy Presidents and the Secretary of the Foundation are also present at the Assembly meetings without voting. The Convention establishes an educational and research policy, approves the first, second, and third cycle regulations, the curriculum content, expresses an opinion to the Foundation's Board of Regulators, etc. View full university
      2. The campus at Kimmeria is located on the 3rd km of the provincial road connecting Xanthi and Kimmeria. This campus has been recently built and apart from the School facilities, it houses the new Library Building, the "Karatheodoris" amphitheatre, a students' restaurant, and student residences. Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) was established in July 1973 by Legislative Decree No. 87 of 27 July 1973, and started operating during the academic year 1974-1975. It was named "Democritus" in honor of the ancient Greek philosopher Democritus, who hailed from the town of Abdera in Thrace. The administration of DUTH is headquartered in Komotini, which is the capital city of the Administrative Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. The University is currently operating eight Faculties and nineteen Schools in four cities of Thrace - eight in Komotini, five in Xanthi, four in Alexandroupolis and two in Orestiada. Overall, more than 15,000 students are studying at DUTH at undergraduate and post-graduate level. The University plays an important role in strengthening the national and cultural identity of the region of Thrace, and contributes to the high level of education in Greece. Relying on the quality of teaching and research level, DUTH has secured a place among the best Greek Universities. As a Higher Education Institution, DUTH is a Public Entity with complete autonomy that is supervised and funded by the State through the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs. The Employment and Career Structure (ECS) of Democritus University of Thrace established and operating under the Operational Programme for Education and Lifelong Learning of the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF), is responsible for the coordination and implementation of activities of the Liaison Office, the Office of Practice and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit. The main objective of the Employment & Career Structure is to provide students and recent graduates with the opportunity to experience the environment of their future career and also to acquire knowledge and skills that will allow them to claim on better terms their position in the professional arena.
