About Me

  1. Relax. St. Stephen’s University is where you can be who you are, where you can discover more about what you are good at, and what makes you tick. Explore your mind, your heart, your faith, and how you relate to people. Grow your communication skills, your critical thinking skills, and your people skills. Come to SSU and find more of the confidence you need to enjoy your life. Your life’s journey switches gears after high school. Life at SSU is like a pilgrimage, a journey with a purpose, and we invite you to join us as we journey together, seeking justice, beauty, and compassion. Come and build your life on these foundations. Find friends to share your life with, and travel the world together – students at SSU tour a dozen countries with their whole class. Your world is only as big as you make it. SSU will widen your horizons, broaden your worldview, and quite literally expand your world during two whole terms of world travel. You will experience Europe and Asia first-hand, absorbing their unique cultures and appreciating their diverse people. See the world with us, deepen your understanding, and widen your worldview. St. Stephen’s University is the smallest in Canada, only accepting up to 30 new students each year. This allows us to create a unique learning community where everyone knows each other, and professors share daily life with students. Instead of being anonymous in a large university, at SSU, we will get to know you. You can come as you are and figure out whom you want to be – we welcome students from a wide variety of backgrounds and stages in life’s journey. We believe that as we live and journey together, finding beauty in ourselves and others, we will grow in maturity. Most other universities are about programs, facilities, and knowledge transfer. We aim to create a caring, accepting environment that helps build a strong foundation for independent adult life. We can do this because we are a small university where nobody gets lost in the crowd. In this kind of environment, we believe that students are better prepared to learn and excel academically, partly because of our outstanding faculty and unique pedagogy, and partly because we can get to know each student and how they learn best. This allows us to provide a rigorous academic experience for each student, preparing them for their careers or further studies. This allows us to provide a rigorous academic experience for each student, preparing them for their career or further study. We are a Liberal Arts university centered around a Christian community. We are not like Christian universities that have quite strict rules and entry requirements, with statements of belief to sign and services to attending. We try and create an environment where everyone is free to think and make decisions for themselves, respectful of everyone else in the community. We love to learn from each other as we share daily life in a big old hotel. And then, of course, there is the travel. Rather than sticking you in a foreign country for a while, charging you big bucks, and calling it a travel program, we travel the world together. You and your whole class will travel with your professors for six weeks in Asia and another 7-8 weeks in Europe, in two separate travel terms. For full credit! And all for only $1000 more than a standard term in St. Stephen!
  2. SSSAS is a JK-12 college preparatory Episcopal Church School in the Diocese of Virginia that educates boys and girls from junior kindergarten through grade 12. SSSAS serves students from across Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. We have three distinct campuses, each uniquely tailored to meet the needs of the students within. The Lower School, grades JK-5, is located on Fontaine Street, the Middle School, 6-8, is located on Braddock Road the Upper School, 9-12, is located on St. Stephen's Road. At St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School, we live our mission every single day. We don't just say the words; we use them. To help our students succeed in a complex and changing world, we seek to inspire a passion for learning, an enthusiasm for athletic and artistic endeavors, a striving for excellence, a celebration of diversity, and a commitment to service. Our mission is to pursue goodness and knowledge and honor the unique value of each of our members as a child of God in a caring community. At St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School, we set the highest academic standards through a demanding college preparatory curriculum. The academic program gives our students a firm grasp of fundamental skills and develops their ability to think creatively, critically, and independently. Also, the curriculum fosters an appreciation for the diversity and interconnectedness of human experience. We challenge our students to ask more questions, consider other points of view, and never settle for the easy answer. We teach our Saints to meet the world with fearless curiosity. To become comfortable with the unfamiliar--an idea, a way of knowing, a perspective, a vision. To expect support as they gain knowledge through success and failure. Saints learn that taking healthy risks is the key to learning and innovating. That failure leads to growth rather than defeat. They know it's safe to explore new territory, to step out of their comfort zones. This generates joy in learning that, in turn, increases intellectual engagement and understanding of all ages. And the satisfaction of accomplishment--the attainment of academic, artistic, or athletic excellence--redoubles the enthusiasm and drives a desire to try even more. At St. Stephen's and St. Agnes, we know that there is way more out there than we can ever imagine. There are rich, diverse cultures and histories, colorful traditions, and untouched terrains. There are students, just like ours, on the other side of the world. At SSSAS, we prepare our students to do more than stare wide-eyed out into the world. We prepare them to explore, collaborate, respect, cooperate, and value the world outside of our community. We prepare them to serve. We prepare them to go. We ensure that our students are exposed to and understand world religions, cultures, and economies. We focus on global issues and access information using a variety of international sources. We allow students to communicate in languages other than English and work cross-culturally, connecting through interdisciplinary projects and international programs. Our school is guided by a global vision to prepare our graduates for today's vibrant, competitive, and emerging marketplace. 3. The year was 1970, when a small group of community leaders met with their rector at Christ Episcopal Church. They dreamed of a school to provide an education with high scholastic standards and small classes. That dream became Saint Stephen's Episcopal School and, in 1975, the first class of 11 seniors celebrated their graduation. The unique traditions and standards of excellence that embody a Saint Stephen's education today are as strong as they were when first visualized by its founders: students who are well prepared for college through a rigorous academic program, and well prepared for a life of service, embedded with strong moral values of integrity, responsibility, and respect. Much of the school's success can be attributed to the vision of its leaders. Because of a commitment to maintaining small class sizes with academic rigor, campus expansion has been a continual focus for all five serving heads. Saint Stephen's now ranks among the most respected independent college preparatory schools in the nation, providing a world-class education for students in grades Pre-K3 through 12. Students are nurtured in small classes, encouraged and supported by outstanding faculty who help them navigate a carefully designed and balanced curriculum of academic rigor and character development. A wide variety of customized curricular and extracurricular experiences are offered that result from flexible scheduling and the philosophy of meeting individual student needs. The curriculum's range and breadth provide children who come to Saint Stephen's with excellent preparation in becoming global citizens. Current families hail from Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Palmetto, Parrish, Ellenton, Anna Maria Island, Sarasota, Longboat Key, and Casey Key, and countries around the globe. Rich academic offerings go hand-in-hand with a strong college counseling program, allowing every student an opportunity to pursue higher education. Saint Stephen's students are excelling today in colleges and universities nationwide, thanks to a strong foundation for success built on proven educational models. The school sits on a scenic, gated, 35-acre campus, including a state-of-the-art athletic complex that hosts sporting events including football, soccer, track and field, lacrosse, baseball, softball, and tennis. Saint Stephen's Episcopal School will: Provide a superior academic program which prepares each student for a college or university compatible with the individual's academic ability, interest, and needs Instill in each student a love of learning, active respect for all members of the school community, and a fundamental sense of integrity Provide a nurturing environment which values independence and self-worth, physical health, spiritual awareness, and responsible global citizenship Saint Stephen's Episcopal School strives to be one of the premier independent college preparatory schools in the nation, educating tomorrow's leaders to make a positive contribution to the world. We promise that every child will be known, and every child will be valued. At Saint Stephen's, the way we approach faith and spiritual education revolves around inclusion, understanding, compassion, personal character, and ethics. We are proud of the diversity of religious faiths represented here, and all families and children are welcomed without question. This diversity is a strength. Our mission as a school involves creating an environment where "spiritual awareness" is valued. Through our chapel program and the encouragement of our school chaplain, faculty, staff, and administrators, we enjoy an atmosphere where people of diverse faiths find freedom of expression and the chance amid studies to pause, wonder, learn, experience quiet, worship God, and gain perspective on matters of ultimate concern. Academic excellence is central to the culture of Saint Stephen's Episcopal School. Our teachers are passionate about the subjects they teach, and they genuinely care about the students and their long-term success. Our graduates matriculate to some of the finest colleges and universities in the world out of our small classes where our faculty engage highly talented students in innovative and stimulating lessons.
  4. St. Stephen's is a coed boarding and day school for students grade 6-12. Our school has a rich history of teaching students of all backgrounds and cultures to live together in peace and promote social justice within our community and beyond. St. Stephen's was the first coeducational Episcopal school in the United States and the first integrated boarding school in the South. Our remarkably diverse student body comprises 686 students from 29 Texas cities, eight states, and 14 countries, including the Bahamas, Brazil, Cameroon, China, Finland, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and Thailand. Among the 485 students in the Upper School and 201 in the Middle School, 507 are day students, and 179 are boarding students. The faculty and academic administration includes 75 full-time and four part-time teachers, 40 of whom are residential faculty. The student-teacher ratio is 8:1, and the average class size is 16. While these figures are impressive, the quality of life is more important. Our graduates say there is something special about St. Stephen is that is difficult to describe. You will come to know that quality and help sustain it as you become involved and make your extraordinary contribution to the community. St. Stephen's Episcopal School is a caring, diverse, accepting community, inclusive of all faiths and grounded in the Christian tradition, which nurtures moral growth and values every human being's potential and dignity. St. Stephen's welcomes students, faculty, and staff from many religious backgrounds and practices. As an Episcopal school, we fully embrace this identity, as defined by the National Association of Episcopal Schools (NAES). Our shared purpose is to inspire a lasting love of learning and a spirit of service so that each of our students lives a life of meaning and enriches the world. As an Episcopal school, St. Stephen's embraces five core values as the foundation of our mission: love of learning, balance, diversity, community, and service. St. Stephen's dedicates itself to: Creating a dynamic, compelling, and rigorous intellectual environment that encourages active inquiry and fosters a lifelong love of learning Offering programs that support active engagement and broad interests balanced with programs that promote wellness and spiritual fulfillment Upholding and advancing our founders' bold, progressive vision for a diverse, inclusive, and equitable school community that respects and celebrates the unique individuality and dignity of every human being Providing an exceptional educational experience that transcends the classroom and enhances students' knowledge that they are valued members of a unique boarding and day school that celebrates learning and living together in community and Inspiring students to serve their immediate community and the global human family as educated and ethical citizens and stewards of the planet we all share. It's a place full of people who want to make a difference in the world. At St. Stephen's, our dedicated faculty and staff are tenacious and constant in their commitment to providing an academically challenging experience for our students within the context of a balanced program in academics, athletics, and the arts. Our mission, vision, and core values are rooted in progressive yet resolute principles — provide rigorous academics, build a diverse student body, develop creative thinkers, support social justice, shape global leaders, nourish the spirit, look beyond ourselves to serve others, and promote equity within our school walls and beyond. St. Stephen's is a spirit-centered school of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. Grounded in the Episcopal tradition, we respect and honor all faiths and support students to make their spiritual journeys while reinforcing their moral growth. Our school prayer, which we recite together daily in Chapel, calls upon all of us to see our life as a journey together and empowers us to make a difference in the world "with open minds, open hearts, and open doors." St. Stephen's supports diversity as an essential component of a quality education that encourages respect for and empowerment of the individual and discourages stereotypes and prejudices. Through our steadfast commitment to diversity, St. Stephen's broadens the educational experience of all students. St. Stephen's further believes that our commitment to diversity is an ongoing process, which will continue to strengthen and enhance our school community. The school actively seeks students from a variety of backgrounds and all areas of Austin. Our students come from diverse backgrounds, and we support and nurture their differences and work to prepare them for their future contributions to our increasingly diverse world. In many ways, diversity is the foundation of the curriculum of St. Stephen's. Through readings, classroom discussions, and movies and lessons taught at every grade level, multiple voices and differing backgrounds at SSES are integral to our strong academic program.
  5. St Stephen's is a thriving school situated in the heart of Stockwell. The school exists to serve its community by providing education of the highest quality within a Christian framework of values and beliefs. This is a school that celebrates its diversity and one whose Christian ethos ensures a genuinely inclusive and collaborative approach. I am proud to be leading such an enthusiastic and committed team of teachers and support staff who are so dedicated to the children in their care. The primary long-term goal for the School & the Children's Centre is To nurture, inspire, empower and expect every child to achieve their very best in life, work, and the community. As an inclusive, Christian school and Children's Centre, we will nurture, inspire, empower and expect every child to achieve their very best in life, work, and the community. We do this through: Creating a safe and welcoming environment with a relentless focus on achievement. A determination that no child is left behind. A commitment to working collaboratively with families and the community. We aim to improve the school and the Children's Centre by using our Christian Values. These values stand for a distinctively Christian understanding to shape all aspects of leading and learning. It never deviates from setting high expectations and raising aspirations. St Stephen's benefits from very strong links with the local church and children's center and this positive and powerful partnership further extend the distinctive Christian character of the school. St Stephen's, South Lambeth is an inner-city church with about 60 adult members and 30 teenagers/children. The church membership reflects the diversity of the local community. Our morning services are lively, child-friendly, and relaxed. They include age-specific groups for the children and teenagers. Our part-time youth Pastor leads the work with our teenagers. The London branch of Fegans Child & Family Care is based at St Stephen's. A team of trained workers offers help and support to children and families in the community around North Lambeth. The church has several midweek 'Growth Groups' meetings in church and homes enabling members to put their growing Christian faith into practice in their everyday lives. There is a very strong community ethos in the school and local charitable organizations benefit from this sense of mission. Pupils also understand their responsibility to the wider world and, during a term in which they focused on the Christian value of compassion.
  6. St Stephen’s is a successful school in the London Borough of Bexley. It has been recognized as an outstanding school by Ofsted and the Diocese of Southwark. We are very fortunate to have a very dedicated team of teachers, teaching assistants, and other staff who strive to make certain that every child reaches their full potential academically, morally, spiritually, and physically. We endeavor to ensure every child leaves St Stephen’s as a successful, confident and responsible individual, equipped with all the skills needed to continue on their future learning journey. We work in partnership with parents and carers and value the support and contribution they make to school life. The school also enjoys an excellent partnership with St Stephen’s Parish and the wider community. We can provide a caring and effective learning environment, where expectations and standards are high. Our aim is that all children have access to a broad, balanced, and challenging curriculum and to live our daily lives by the school's Mission Statement. This underpins everything that goes on at St Stephen’s. At St. Stephen’s, as members of God’s family, we help and support each other as we learn, play, and grow whatever our background. Everyone in our school, parish, and home community is important and respected and allowed to develop their faith and live out the Gospel values. Through Jesus’ teachings and example of love, we understand the importance of helping others, supporting charities in our local and global community. Our school is a caring community where truth, forgiveness, and justice are promoted and are at the heart of our learning and throughout our daily lives. We know that each one of us is made in God’s image we encourage everyone to develop and share the talents that He has given to each of us.
  7. St Stephen’s School is an independent, co-educational Uniting Church school, born from a vision to nurture. Our motto to Serve God, Serve One Another is combined with a personalised education that shapes our students, from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12, into intelligent, compassionate and well-rounded young people. St Stephen’s is a Christ-centred, student-focused and community-based School. Our personalised approach to learning and strong tradition of high-quality teaching encourages St Stephen’s students to lay foundations for their chosen pathways. Students flourish when values are aligned and the relationship between home and school is strong. We welcome not just students but their whole families into our close-knit community. Together we can cultivate success and produce mature and balanced young men and women. The School’s motto to Serve God, Serve One Another is supported by our service learning program where St Stephen’s students work with groups and communities on a local, national and international scale, to make their world a better place. These service opportunities, combined with our mission to inspire learning that transforms lives, shape our students into well-rounded graduates, ready to take their next step into the world. Academic results provide a great foundation, and are encouraged at St Stephen’s. However, it’s qualities like flexibility, teamwork, service, leadership and humility acquired from a St Stephen’s School education that prove most attractive and sought-after by employers in this constantly-changing world. As a parent of two wonderful girls myself, our goal is to provide your child with a place where they belong to a community that gives them the best platform for their future. St Stephen’s is a Christ-centred, student-focused and community-based School. Founded on a vision to nurture, we aim to inspire learning that transforms lives. St Stephen’s School is a young and progressive co-educational school of the Uniting Church in Australia. We have a reputation for excellence in teaching and a commitment to developing well-rounded people – people of innovation, creativity, integrity and faith. The School was established at the Duncraig campus in 1984 and the Carramar campus in 2001. In 2011, an Early Learning Centre for Pre-Kindergarten to Year 2 opened at Hepburn Heights, Padbury. Our mission to Serve God, Serve One Another is underpinned by five key values faith, learning, service, care and community. We welcome all who share these values, from all faiths and backgrounds. The School is a solid academic performer, yet the traits St Stephen’s School students learn such as teamwork, humility, leadership and compassion go beyond the classroom. Our Service Learning programs see students better the lives of others on a local, national and international scale, taking them to various locations including India, Cambodia, Malaysia, South Africa and, closer to home – the Kimberley region of WA, to learn about different ways of life and enrich the lives of those we meet. A personalised approach to teaching and learning, with subject specialist teachers from primary to secondary, helps students find their niche and identify the best pathway to reach their goals. Teaching and learning at St Stephen’s School is a relational adventure where traditional learning is redefined to enhance student outcomes based on five core values faith, learning, service, care and community. These values form the foundation of the School’s vision to inspire learning that transforms lives. We believe that as children learn and grow, they are empowered to imagine, to be curious, to question and to achieve.
  8. Saint Stephen's College is a learning community centered on Christian principles. We strive to develop self-directed, determined, courageous, and skillful young men and women of substance who will make a positive difference to their communities now and in the future. The College community values maturity and integrity as the hallmarks of character-based leadership. To quote a line from our College Hymn, we want our school to 'be a place of fellowship and learning.' The fellowship is essential in its own right, but it also forms the foundation for learning. As I have often said, I want students to leave the campus at the end of the day with a smile on their face and their brain hurting a bit because it has been exercised. We can achieve these things if we support each other. Each of us has different lives, but I hope we all have a standard set of values and a shared determination to build talented, fun-loving, considerate, courteous, committed, and confident young people. We can be assured of this outcome if we work together. Each family who joins us makes us more robust, and we aim to return the favor. As a Christian school, Saint Stephen's College nurtures our students' spiritual life and the broader College community. Our College Chaplain, Father Andrew Kinmont, supports students in their faith journey by helping them understand the Christian faith principles and how they can apply these principles to life in the 21st Century. Father Andrew is available to support families during times of celebration and in times of need. Our Junior School Program provides a caring and engaging environment for young learners to develop and grow. Our students thrive with the support of highly skilled teachers who provide a strong academic foundation and rich co-curricular, technology, and social experiences. Students in our Senior School have the support of expert instructors, access to the latest in technology, and can select from a wide range of course options. Our senior program is focused on individual needs and encourages students to become independent thinkers, engage in their learning, and realize their potential. As a result of this approach, our graduates are confident, empowered, and prepared to take their place in a rapidly changing world. Saint Stephen's College Childcare Centre is a state-of-the-art facility that provides an innovative, fun, and nurturing early learning experience. Our educators are highly qualified, caring, and committed to providing engaging programs that support social, intellectual, and physical development. Being an integral part of the College, the children also have opportunities to visit the school's library, participate in whole-of-school events and become familiar with staff and students, which builds confidence and assists in a positive transition to school.

  11. 15. The school, located in three adjoining buildings at 53-55 st. stephen’s green enjoys a city-center location. However, the majority of its students, drawn from a wide geographical area, largely come from the north and south Dublin suburbs, north County Dublin, County Meath, Co. Wicklow, and Co. Kildare. These have been the traditional catchment areas for the school over many years. Each year, approximately thirty students from the Loreto Junior School (on the same site) enter the first year, making up about one-third of the annual intake. There is a small intake of students, generally from other schools, into other classes, when vacancies exist. Loreto College is a traditional school in that families, over generations, have tended to send their daughters there. Ninety-six girls are admitted to the new first-year each autumn. They are divided into four class groups and this remains the pattern for the school. Class size remains at this level and year groups in the school do not exceed ninety-six students. Welcome to the Loreto College St. Stephen’s Green website. The school was founded in 1833 in the tradition of Mary Ward (1585-1645). The Loreto principles of Truth, Justice, Freedom, Sincerity, and Joy underpin teaching and learning in “the Green”. All our endeavors are centered in God, rooted in Christ, and based on Gospel values. The education offered in the school is holistic with an emphasis on academia, extra-curricular activities, and social justice. A keen sense of community and collaborative teaching and learning is fostered by everyone. Each student is recognized and celebrated for her unique talents and gifts. Mary Ward encouraged us to “Do good and do it well”. By exploring our website you will witness the wonderful achievements of the students and their teachers. You will discover the joy experienced by our students in learning, leadership, sport, music, art, and other extra-curricular activities. You will see how our students bear witness to the Loreto principles and become “seekers of Truth and doers of Justice”. “In an atmosphere of mutual respect and justice, we are a community that aims to provide a rich and diverse curriculum catering for the needs of each student. We provide a holistic education wherein we strive for excellence in the pursuit of knowledge. Social concerns and spiritual values are central to our educational philosophy, while sporting and cultural endeavors are encouraged. Each student is challenged to realize her full potential and to recognize the dignity of each human being”. Loreto College, St. Stephen’s Green is a Catholic school in the Loreto tradition. It is, therefore, part of a worldwide network of schools run by the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (known to us as Loreto). The school, located in three adjoining buildings at 53-55 St. Stephen’s Green, has a city-center location. However, the majority of its students, drawn from a wide geographical area, largely come from the north and south Dublin suburbs, north County Dublin and Counties Meath and Kildare. 16. In 1901, a group of eight Chinese businessmen and community leaders wrote to the Governor of Hong Kong asking him to open an English school for Chinese children residing in the Colony. Through the concerted efforts of Sir Kai Ho Kai, Dr. Tso Seen Wan, Bishop Joseph Hoare, and Archdeacon William Banister, St Stephen's College was opened in 1903, with six borders and one day pupil, as a Christian boys' school. The object of the Founders was to offer an opportunity for Chinese boys to acquire a highly regarded education similar to that provided by well-known English Public Schools of those times. It soon attracted overseas students, particularly Chinese from Southeast Asia. Today, we have many graduates who are international high achievers in every field. They have exemplarily realized the aims of our founders over 100 years ago. St Stephen’s College aims to provide quality education and training for the whole person, with a balanced emphasis on moral, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic, and spiritual development, in a caring and supportive Christian environment. 17. At St. Stephen’s we believe that every child should have the opportunity to reach their full potential within a happy, stimulating, and secure environment, where care and respect for each other, their school family, and the wider community are paramount. We believe that every child should be encouraged to achieve the highest standards possible, in an atmosphere where all success, great or small, is properly celebrated. We believe that every child should be taught to accept and understand people with different beliefs, needs, and circumstances to their own enabled to develop morally and spiritually, gaining a growing knowledge of the Christian faith given confidence to grow in responsibility and independence, equipping them for the challenges that lie ahead. Our mission, as staff, governors, parents, and members of the wider school community, is to make this vision a reality, constantly building each other up in love and learning. St. Stephen’s is a Voluntary Aided Church of England Primary School and responsibility for admissions lies with the governing body. The underlying ethos of the school is Christian but it is a church school for the whole community and it welcomes applications for pupils of other faiths or no faith. Our published admissions number is 60 children per school year. Admissions are handled by the Schools Admissions Team at Richmond Borough Council. They will be able to tell you if there are any spaces available or add you to the school's waiting list. You can list up to four maintained schools or academies in the borough in the order that you prefer them. Richmond Council coordinates all in-year applications for schools in the borough. they will pass on your child's details to the admissions authorities for the schools you have named and they will let you know if your child has qualified for a place. If none of the schools that you apply for can offer your child a place, they will advise you of the nearest school with a vacancy and you will be able to make another application. Please note your child will be expected to start in the correct year group for their age. Your family must already be living in the property before you can apply for a school place except in the following circumstance. If you are an HM Forces family with a confirmed posting to this area, or a UK Crown Servant returning from overseas to this area, you can apply for a school place up to four months in advance of your return. This is provided your application is accompanied by official documentary evidence from your employer that confirms a relocation date and your address in the Richmond borough. The Council and all primary schools including academies and free schools in Richmond upon Thames have agreed on a fair access protocol to admit children who are currently without a school place and may have difficulty finding a suitable school place. Children who are admitted to schools under this protocol take priority over any children on waiting lists. The Fair Access Panel, which considers applications under this protocol, consists of representative headteachers and senior Council staff. The panel makes the final decision on which school will be nominated to receive each case. This will take into account the suitability of the placement for the pupil and the school and, where possible, will ensure that the required additional resources are made available to support the pupil's successful integration into school. St Stephen’s school ensures that all children with additional needs have opportunities to thrive and flourish, demonstrate their abilities and overcome barriers. Our ethos is embedded within our vision statement and our school values of Friendship, Service, Peace, Kindness, Respect, Thankfulness, and Forgiveness. We have a cohesive approach to additional needs, training teachers and support staff to develop their awareness of a range of needs and enabling our learners to acquire knowledge and build self-confidence. For all our children (regardless of their gender, ethnicity, social background, religion, sexual identity, physical ability, or educational need) we are keen to ensure they are rounded individuals who are prepared for their future in an ever-changing world. To that end, we encourage our children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to develop their skills and talents and to be as independent as possible. As we are a voluntary aided church school, most of our governors are appointed by the Church. In addition, we have three elected parent governors and a local authority governor. As governors we are proud to support the school within the St Margarets’ Community, celebrating its considerable successes and good name.

The school continues to enter a new era with the expansion of the school to 3 form entry. We are admitting an additional 30 children into the Reception unit over the next 3 years. St Stephen’s is extremely proud to be awarded ‘The top state Primary School’ in the country as listed in The Sunday Times on 19th November 2017. This achievement is a testament and tribute to our lovely children, the support of the parents, the dedication of a superb team of Governors, and a highly effective and intelligent staff team. We want children to be excited about coming to school, engaged in their learning, and able to articulate their views in a polite, respectful, and harmonious way. We believe wholeheartedly that a child’s education should be inspirational, challenging, and nurturing. The highly skilled and passionate staff and governors of the school believe that it is essential that every child is prepared to meet their life challenges, with an atmosphere of high expectation and appropriate challenge, memorable experiences together with a reflective, compassionate understanding of themselves and their communities around them. The core subjects are taught both stand-alone and as part of our creative curriculum in which the foundation subjects are taught thematically. All year groups have core texts to further enhance the curriculum. Religious Education (RE) is also part of the National Curriculum. The acknowledgment of the different traditions and faiths represented within our school community and the wider world is an important element of RE learning. 22. Through the concerted efforts of Sir Kai Ho Kai, Dr. Tso Seen Wan, Bishop Joseph Hoare, and Archdeacon William Banister, St Stephen's College was opened in 1903, with six borders and one day pupil, as a Christian boys' school. 25. St. Stephen's School is an outstanding school and Children’s Centre with dedicated staff and a supportive community committed to excellence in education. The school continues to enter a new era with the expansion of the school to 3 form entry. We are admitting an additional 30 children into the Reception unit over the next 3 years. We hope that this expansion will allow more children from our community to access the high-quality provision here at St Stephen’s. We aim for a real love of learning here at St Stephen’s extending beyond school into each child’s life. At St. Stephen’s we offer a wide range of clubs that promote sport, art, and social development. We aim to provide children with a rich, varied, and memorable curriculum, which we enhance with educational visits, themed weeks and days, parent workshops, and through special visitors (to share their expertise). At St. Stephen’s Federation, we believe that all our pupils, staff, and school community share the same rights. Last year we became a Level 2 UNICEF Rights Respecting School, with the values of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) at its heart. The school offers a broad, balanced, and differentiated curriculum covering all areas of the National Curriculum, which reflects the Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural aspects of learning, including British Values. The areas of learning comprise English, Mathematics, Science, Computing, Design & Technology, History, Geography, Art and Design, Music and Physical Education, as well as Personal, Social, Health & Economics. Our curriculum policies specify teaching strategies, and the breadth of studies sets achievement targets for the children. Parents are very welcome to read our policies and breadth of studies and ask for any further clarification. We do our utmost to maximize success for all children by giving them the best teaching and learning experiences. We use a range of teaching methods and strategies to suit the needs of children and subjects. The children explore their understanding of different faiths and cultures in their community to celebrate diversity. At St Stephen’s School, we strive to create an environment that is accepting, safe, secure, welcoming and challenging, to enhance learning and promote success in the social, emotional, physical, and academic development of our school community. We are therefore committed to the notion of equality of opportunity for all members of our community. Through our curriculum, we seek to provide equality of access for all, to the experiences and opportunities available within our school. Our Accessibility Plan can be found on our School Website. All children are encouraged to meet high teacher expectations to ensure that they reach their full potential and develop into responsible and successful members of the community in which they live.
