  1. We would like to thank you for visiting our community. Sincerely. We are confident, whether or not you choose Richmond Hill Montessori Private School as your child's educational institution, you will have positive things to say about our community to others. We want to share our educational philosophy with you before making one of your child's essential choices. RHMS is built on many positive attributes. For this introduction, we will focus on trust and integrity. Trust and integrity must form the basis of the relationship between RHMS, the parent(s), and the student to clarify our common goal. If you feel you are questioning the trust or integrity of RHMS at any time, we strongly recommend that you immediately make an appointment with us to re-establish your confidence and trust. We ask that you genuinely take the time necessary to ensure that RHMS is an appropriate educational community for your child. You have a complete understanding of RHMS in all aspects so that you are well informed. In keeping with our environmentally friendly philosophy, further written information can be found on our website. Please feel free to call us if you have specific questions. We will be delighted to assist you. Montessori School classrooms at RHMS include students who are three years and eight months, four, and five years of age, providing an abundance of learning opportunities, helping to create a sense of community where everyone contributes to and takes responsibility for the functioning and maintenance of the environment (classroom). The older children provide leadership and guidance and act as models for younger children. They benefit by helping the younger children, reinforcing skills and knowledge previously learned, and gain satisfaction and self-worth by helping others. Our classrooms have no more than twenty students with two full time experienced staff members. Montessori Schools and their curriculum, like the world, must evolve to ensure they become leading Private Educational Institutions. Our Montessori School is committed to remaining current and preparing its students to participate fully and effectively in today's society. At RHMS, we are very proud of our long-standing Montessori teachers, some of whom have chosen to work at RHMS from other Montessori Schools in Toronto. They have been with us for many years and bring vast experience and dedication to our program. Their loving and nurturing nature, along with their enthusiasm for teaching, has provided an excellent environment for children to learn. Our Physical Education program's primary goal is to develop an awareness of and appreciation for the importance of fitness and optimal physical health. Through group exercises, children develop better listening skills, cooperation skills and follow directions. They learn how to respect one another's space, interact physically, and participate with other children in a safe environment. Children are challenged to perform to the very best of their physical ability to enhance their flexibility, coordination, gross motor skills, balance, and rhythm. For a child to grasp the concepts of science, history, or geography, they must first be well-versed in the language. The Montessori reading and writing learning sequence are categorized into three color-coded levels: the Pink, Blue, and Green series of readers. Once a child masters a level, they move on to the next series. In addition to reading, students also progress through notebooks and consumables (interactive book series that provide repetitive practice). Daily writing is practiced to nurture the creative writing process while developing printing and cursive writing skills. Geography, History, and Green Awareness are all a part of the Culture component of Montessori learning. Geography is taught with visual, colorful concrete materials that enhance the child's ability to learn. History is approached through timelines to see how people from different cultures developed from the earth's beginning to the present. Montessori students will have the opportunity to investigate both ancient and modern peoples. There is also an emphasis on raising awareness for environmental issues and learning to recycle classroom materials, which builds good habits for the future. The transformation of the classroom into the 'real world' requires not only physical resources such as textbooks, exercise books, maps, globes and an ongoing emphasis on incorporating technology into the classroom via everyday computer usage, presentations, smartboards, and other digital devices it also requires significant abstract resources such as imagination, vision, and passion. These are all encouraged under the careful supervision of our nurturing staff. Together, we believe that these components are essential for a student's success in the advancement of knowledge and development. Private Schools and their curriculum, like the world, must evolve in order to ensure they become one of the leading Private Educational Institutions. Our Private School is committed to remaining current and preparing its students to participate fully and effectively in today's society. That being said, it is our mission to ensure that the traditional core knowledge and the educational philosophy at the preschool and elementary levels have been, and will continue to be, consistent over time. Our task of bringing the outside world, its challenges, and its realities into the classroom will allow students to understand the dynamics of any situation or environment they may encounter. This entire process is what we call practical life teaching. View full school
  2. Here, you will find all of the features and opportunities you expect from a top-ranked national university. But the power of a Richmond education comes in everything else we do — the countless endeavors that go beyond the expected, that heighten every aspect of our students' educational experience. Our interdisciplinary approach integrates arts and sciences with business, leadership studies, and law. We bring together confident students and expert faculty in an environment of both intellectual and personal engagement. Industry-leading financial aid ensures that talented students of all backgrounds can come together to form a transformative educational environment. And we guarantee every student up to $4,000 for summer research or internship experience. Within one year of graduation, 20 percent of students are enrolled in graduate school. And of those looking for employment, 96 percent landed a job. Richmond is the only University with a spider mascot, and we find that fitting because there is only one place like Richmond. The mission of the University of Richmond is to sustain a collaborative learning and research community that supports the personal development of its members and the creation of new knowledge. A Richmond education prepares students to live lives of purpose, thoughtful inquiry, and responsible leadership in a global and pluralistic society. At some universities, experiences like undergraduate research, living-learning communities, close faculty relationships, and fellowship funding are limited to a handful of students — there simply are not enough to go around. That is not what you will find at Richmond. Our smaller size, coupled with opportunities that run deep and wide, means you will spend your time dreaming up ideas and making them happen — not worrying about the competition. Richmond integrates a liberal arts core with a top-ranked school of business and the nation's first school of leadership studies, as well as schools of law and professional and continuing studies — a combination you will not find anywhere else. But it goes deeper than that. When an undergraduate can take a first-year seminar with a law professor or seamlessly pair an economics major with a minor in art history, that is when you will know you are at Richmond. Richmond is among only 1 percent of institutions in the U.S. with both a "need-blind" admission policy and a guarantee to meet 100 percent of demonstrated need. Forty-two percent of undergraduates are eligible for need-based aid, with an average aid package of $47,970. Plus, all first-year applicants are considered for merit-based aid, including full-tuition scholarships and a variety of interest-based programs. The Student Development offices work collaboratively to create a dynamic campus community, offer healthy living services, and provide learning resources that build on the classroom experience. The University of Richmond provides a collaborative learning and research environment unlike any other in higher education, offering students an extraordinary combination of the liberal arts with law, business, leadership studies, and continuing education. It is characterized by a distinctly integrated student experience—a rich and innovative life for students inside and outside the classroom—and a welcoming spirit that prizes diversity of experience and thought. It is rooted in a determination to engage as a meaningful part of our community and our world. It is committed to ensuring its opportunities are accessible to talented students of all backgrounds. The University will provide students the knowledge, insight, and skills needed to understand, contribute to, and lead in a rapidly changing world. It will embrace and support the production of high-quality scholarship. A University of Richmond education will stimulate intellectual and personal growth, connect theory with practice, and offer the liberal arts' inspiration and the ability to approach problems thoughtfully, critically, ethically, and creatively. Every undergraduate student will have the opportunity to enter into an intellectually engaging first-year experience based on the University's values ascend through living-learning, community-based, and international exposure and pursue faculty-mentored research and internships to graduate enriched and fully prepared for challenging and fulfilling lives. A Richmond education will chart a course for transformational learning from student acceptance to graduation in every school. That education will take place within a vibrant intellectual community that supports high-quality scholarly and creative work and engages students as active partners in that work. The University of Richmond will be a leader in innovative practices that sustain our environmental, human, and financial resources. The future health and vibrancy of the University — like all institutions of higher education — rest on our shared commitment to steward our vital resources: the environment on which we all depend, funds for our needs and aspirations, and the faculty, staff, student, and alumni relationships that form the core of our educational model. Responsible stewardship will enable us to support our academic aspirations better and will enrich our intellectual community. In response to emerging environmental and financial challenges, we will imagine and implement new approaches to our work that support our mission's sustainability and serve as a model for other institutions.

  5. Richmond Park Academy is a key member of Academies Enterprise Trust (AET), the operational arm of the Greensward Charitable Trust, which is a federation of academies created to provide thousands of students/pupils with the best possible education. AET aims to provide the opportunity for all young learners to fulfill their real potential, broaden their horizons and become active, prosperous, and successful citizens in the world around them. AET believes that all young people deserve to become world-class learners - to learn, enjoy, succeed and thrive in a first-rate educational environment, with the best facilities, the best teaching, and the most up-to-date resources available to them. AET is committed to doing everything it can to ensure that young people can, in the future, compete on the world stage with the skills, confidence, and flair to generate new ideas, new initiatives and thereby make a full contribution to tomorrow's world. Since new legislation in September 2010, all secondary school admissions, including both Year 7 admissions and mid-term admissions, are processed through the student’s home local authority. Mid-term admissions need to complete an In-Year Admission Form, obtained from and returned to the student’s home local authority. These will, in turn, be forwarded to Admissions Officer at Richmond Local Authority who will process the application and send details to RPA Admission Officer, Terri Nardoni. Thereafter, parents and students will be invited to RPA to meet with the relevant Year Leader. RPA achieved an overall outcome of Outstanding in its recent Annual Health and Safety Audit. A huge thank you to our hardworking team who take the health, safety, and welfare of all our students, staff, and visitors very seriously. We work very closely with staff to ensure activities/lessons are risks assessed, not to curtail the learning and teaching experiences of our students, but to ensure they are carried out safely and securely. We also strive to ensure the building and all the equipment on site are maintained by competent and suitably qualified contractors. The management of health and safety is not just driven by the site facilities team, colleagues have worked extremely hard to create and nurture a positive culture. Our new redeveloped academy poses different health, safety, and security challenges which we will continue to monitor and manage. As parents and carers, we welcome your support in reinforcing to your child the importance of following procedures and our health and safety policies to ensure they conduct themselves appropriately. All our students enjoy a broad and balanced curriculum. English, maths, and science are set in Year 8 and 9 with all other subjects taught in mixed ability classes. Year 7 is currently taught in mixed ability classes across all subjects. A very high percentage of RPA students are High Prior Attainers (HPAs) so research has shown that this is the most appropriate way to structure the school to give all students the best chance of achieving positive outcomes. Within the mixed class environment, teachers differentiate work to stretch the ablest and encourage those who are having any difficulty. For Year 7 students teachers have the full incoming data set to assist them in that differentiation. All students have a right to a broad, balanced curriculum, relevant and differentiated to develop their abilities and maximize their potential, to provide stimulating, satisfying, and progressive educational experiences, and to equip them for adult life. The Governing Body and staff of RPA welcome students of all abilities. All members of staff at RPA are aware of their role and the responsibility they share for identifying and making effective provision for the additional educational needs of all students. Richmond Park Academy regards its behavior policy as pivotal to developing each child as an individual and to develop their potential to the fullest. The policy makes clear which members of staff have specific responsibility for key areas of sanctions, and for promoting good behavior on and off-site. At Richmond Park Academy we are committed to promoting the welfare of every student and ensuring that bullying and/or discrimination does not take place. In particular, we are aware of the needs of some children who may need special and/or additional support for modifying their behavior. Vulnerable students, including looked-after children, children with SEN, physical or mental health needs, will receive additional support according to their behavioral needs. We not only have over 10,000 books but, also, newspapers, magazines, games, brainteasers, computers, and internet access - all available between 8 am and 4 pm every day. Everyone at Richmond Park Academy has the right to use the library and borrow books. We encourage students to use the library often for reading and studying so they produce excellent homework. Almost all books are available for students to borrow and take home for two weeks and everyone is automatically a member of the library when they join the school. We ask that books are looked after and returned on time or renewed if needed for longer. View full school

  7. Richmond Christian College is a school characterized by Christian principles, academic excellence, cultural diversity, and individual achievement. Our key objective is to educate children in a nurturing environment where their physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing is at the forefront of their education. The school fosters a learning culture that encourages children to achieve their goals, think responsibly, embrace self-worth, and have a clear understanding of who they are as individuals. When a student graduates from Richmond Christian College, they are not only equipped with a first-class education; they are also equipped with a set of values and life skills that will lay the foundation for a bright and purposeful future. There is no denying that the lives we lead today are exciting stories that form part of a bigger story that we all contribute to in some way or another. Our stories, our experiences mold us to become the unique valuable people we are. No doubt, our stories are also influenced by the multitude of stories that go on around us every day. These stories shape the way we view our world and also how our world views us. The story that I am excited to bring to Richmond Christian College consists of northern NSW heritage, growing up on the Clarence banks and in the shadows of Mt Lindsay. I love family and believe it is vital in creating identity and dreams. I have three boys and a beautiful wife of 16 years, and many say I ‘suffer’ middle child syndrome – which I know is real! My story heavily biases my educational views as a principal’s son. I also bring with me a lot of Up Up Cronulla, a bunch of love, your mum, lots of fish-on! However, my entire story is drowned in knowing that God loves me and died for me. View full school
