We are a small Church in Wales Junior School situated in the Cathedral city of St Asaph, North Wales. We are a busy but friendly school, with lots going on. This website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing up-to-date information for parents, pupils, and the wider community. Under the superb leadership and guidance of our Headteacher, Mr. Redgrave, and the excellent staff at Esgob Morgan, we have a happy and successful school, which has been at the forefront of several educational innovations that have been replicated by other schools. We, the governors and staff, never lose sight of the fact that the most important people in our school are the children and we all strive to make them aware of this. We all believe in the principle that a happy school is a successful one and in my opinion, there is no doubt that the pupils who attend the school enjoy coming here. Choosing which school for your children is an important decision. We take the responsibility of developing our children very seriously and guarantee the very best care and education for you children and look upon the next 4 years as a journey we travel together, especially now as we continue the values and ethos of a Church in Wales school. We are very proud of our happy school, where together, we aim high. We celebrate everyone as an individual and treat all with respect. We develop a caring and stimulating environment, where children’s high self-esteem allows them to take risks in learning and to learn confidently through their mistakes, helping develop strategies for thinking and independence. The Center for Career Development assists students and alumni in the career decision-making process. We assist with career assessments, counseling (individual advising/counseling) and experiential learning opportunities, a career resource center for obtaining career information and researching employers, developing job-seeking skills through seminars and individualized preparation, planning and executing a targeted job search, providing opportunities to interview with employers access to job fairs and career days sponsored by Morgan State University and other organizations in the region. We also assist students and alumni with graduate school planning and connecting job seekers to employers while providing the tools needed to be competitive and successful in today's global market. The division of Student Affairs at Morgan State University provides learning opportunities and environments that advance all students' holistic development. The mission of the Counseling Center is to provide a range of psychological and counseling services to meet the mental health and developmental needs of Morgan students. The Counseling Center strives to support MSU students' emotional, interpersonal, social, and career development. Morgan attracts students from each state and many foreign countries. About 35% of all students enrolled at Morgan are from outside the State of Maryland. It is one of the leading institutions nationally in the number of applications received from African-American high school graduates. The largest sources of its enrollments outside of Maryland are New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The mission of Arthur Morgan School is to provide a safe and loving environment where students in grades 7, 8, and 9 learn to question and evaluate, think creatively and work independently and cooperatively while sharing in a community that honors simplicity, respect, responsibility, and thoughtful consideration. The vision of Arthur Morgan School is to empower our students to make courageous choices that may create global change by developing awareness of our impact on social and ecological life. Arthur Morgan School was founded by Elizabeth and Ernest Morgan in 1962 to provide a learning environment tailored for children in their early teenage years. Ernest Morgan was the elder son of Arthur Morgan. Arthur and his wife Lucy had cherished the idea of starting a small school in a rural setting that fostered initiative, responsibility, and imagination. Many educators influenced Elizabeth Morgan to form their philosophy of education, including Johann Pestalozzi, N.S.F. Grundtvig, Mahatma Gandhi, Maria Montessori, John Dewey, and Arthur Morgan. These great educators' philosophies and methods emphasize the development of the whole person through a combination of study, work, and social interaction in a community. As leaders in progressive education, they each valued practical education as a significant experience for men and women to be enlightened. Also, they stress inner motivation and the individual's responsibility as a part of the whole. To these ideas, Elizabeth her Quaker values of simple living, consensus decision-making, and non-violent problem-solving. Both Elizabeth and Ernest Morgan were very active in many causes. Elizabeth collected workers' songs from all over the world and educated people about suppression and exploitation. She had been active in the struggle against the Ku Klux Klan persecutions and racist assaults in Georgia. She arranged protest marches and helped the strikers in their attempt at getting better pay and fair treatment. In most cases, she used music and song to arouse people's solidarity and inform them of both traditions and visions. Early in their marriage, both Elizabeth and Ernest had joined the Society of Friends or Quakers. They felt that the Quaker way of silent worship, social justice, resistance to the military and violence, and equality for all people, especially women, were very consistent with their views.
