  1. We are a small Church in Wales Junior School situated in the Cathedral city of St Asaph, North Wales. We are a busy but friendly school, with lots going on. This website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing up-to-date information for parents, pupils, and the wider community. Under the superb leadership and guidance of our Headteacher, Mr. Redgrave, and the excellent staff at Esgob Morgan, we have a happy and successful school, which has been at the forefront of several educational innovations that have been replicated by other schools. We, the governors and staff, never lose sight of the fact that the most important people in our school are the children and we all strive to make them aware of this. We all believe in the principle that a happy school is a successful one and in my opinion, there is no doubt that the pupils who attend the school enjoy coming here. Choosing which school for your children is an important decision. We take the responsibility of developing our children very seriously and guarantee the very best care and education for you children and look upon the next 4 years as a journey we travel together, especially now as we continue the values and ethos of a Church in Wales school. We are very proud of our happy school, where together, we aim high. We celebrate everyone as an individual and treat all with respect. We develop a caring and stimulating environment, where children’s high self-esteem allows them to take risks in learning and to learn confidently through their mistakes, helping develop strategies for thinking and independence. We encourage children to ask questions and to learn how to solve challenges and problems. We make it our business to be excellent, empowering children to be happy and responsive. Children are challenged within the delivery of a creative and linked curriculum. We are an inclusive school that develops independence, responsibility, kindness, and good manners through our personal, social, and health education programs.
  2. We are a rural, Church Aided School in the heart of the active and friendly community of Caerwys, situated between the Clwydian Mountains and the coast of North Wales. Our values are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that children should feel what it is like to succeed. that they should grow as well-rounded individuals. We aim to achieve happy, relaxed learners, who get a great deal of enjoyment out of what they do. They learn the importance of self-improvement and take responsibility for their learning. Our pupils are nurtured and in turn, they learn to respect each other and those who nurture them. Our older children leave with knowledge of how to be supportive, kind and caring, and how important it is to give to their community. Excellent relationships exist between staff and children and our nurturing environment creates a vibrant, happy, and inclusive atmosphere that many visitors comment upon. When visiting our school, many people ask about what it is like teaching mixed-age classes. The art to this is making sure that different levels of work are set so that there is the correct amount of challenge and support. In doing so we consider the stage children are at rather than their age older children often support younger ones in their learning and younger children learn a great deal from watching their peers. We are also lucky to have classroom assistants in every class who work alongside our highly skilled teachers, helping to deliver lessons to children at different levels. The school buildings are well furnished, well supplied, and well organized into three main classrooms. Recent building work includes the improvement of cloakroom facilities for older children and an office/meeting room extension. We benefit from a large hall and a well-equipped library. Each classroom is organized to reflect the needs of our children. For example, Foundation Phase has an outdoor area that is easily accessible. Our grounds are extensive, with hard surface areas, a spacious playing field, wooded areas, planting beds, a forest schools area, and a pond. Each class is taught by a fully qualified teacher and supported by a classroom assistant. As an effective learning community, we encourage the professional development of all our staff as well as our children. Teachers have half a day per week to support their planning and assessment procedures. We also employ specialist instrumental music teachers and sports coaches.
