      4. Manhattan Christian College is a private institution of higher education committed to the Christian mission of winning the world to Christ. With the conviction that every member of the body of Christ is a minister, the college seeks to foster in all students a world-wide vision of the mission of the church: preparing them to be servant leaders as Christ modeled and challenged us all to become providing opportunities for spiritual growth toward Christian maturity promoting the Restoration Movement ideal of becoming Christ’s church as revealed in the New Testament Manhattan Christian College was founded in 1927 as a four-year undergraduate institution of higher education. Named Kansas Bible College initially received its original charter from the State of Kansas in 1929 under the name Christian Workers University. The campus was purposefully located in Manhattan, Kansas, directly across the street from Kansas State Agricultural College, Kansas State University. This proximity to a major university has provided students with unique educational opportunities and a combination of cultural, recreational, and evangelistic opportunities. In 1930 the name of the college changed to Manhattan Bible College. Under this name, the college was granted a charter by the Secretary of State of the State of Kansas on June 9, 1930. A certificate of Amendment to the Articles of Incorporation changing the name to Manhattan Christian College was legally certified by the Secretary of State on July 1, 1971. Specific programs of study include both single and dual-degrees as well as an adult degree completion program. The college offers single degree programs that lead to the bachelor of arts or science degrees in Christian Ministry, emphasizing and tracking options in pastoral ministry, intercultural ministry, children’s ministry, family ministry, worship ministry, and youth ministry. The Leadership Education for Adult Development (LEAD) degree completion program assists learners interested in leadership and ministry or management and business ethics to complete a college degree through the classroom setting for personal and career development. The Distance Education degree completion program assists learners interested in Biblical leadership or management and ethics to complete a college degree through an online delivery method for personal and career development. MCC programs of study can be taken in conjunction with numerous programs at Kansas State University and Manhattan Area Technical College (MATC), resulting in dual-degree programs including accounting, agribusiness, computer science, elementary and secondary education, marketing, finance, family life, and community service, radio/television, social work, nursing, and others. Students may opt to complete an associate degree in general. A certificate of biblical literature may be earned in one year of study. The college is firmly committed to the mission of educating, equipping, and enriching men and women for leadership and service in the name of Christ through the various degrees and certificates offered. Accepting that the biblical principle of the “priesthood of all believers” is more than a paid clergy, the college fosters a comprehensive view of what a ministry entails. Any student in a degree program has the opportunity to render ministry in a variety of contexts and diverse fields as a result of the academic programming and experiences received while at the college. MCC is historically affiliated with nondenominational, independent Christian Churches and Churches of Christ of the Restoration Movement. We believe that all people are learners. A fundamental element of human nature is the process of adapting to new experiences in such a way as to improve the condition of self and others. With this in mind, we believe that learning is a perpetual circumstance, whether it is pursued intentionally or occurs unintentionally. We believe that education is holistic. Effective education includes the cognitive, affective, behavioral, and spiritual domains of a person. The learner needs to experience opportunities in each of these areas consistently. Learning in the 21st century is available at any time, any place. Manhattan Christian College has committed to global ministry leadership training. MCC’s accredited distance education degrees in Biblical Leadership and Management and Ethics are designed to provide busy adults the opportunity and flexibility to complete their degrees with the same regionally accredited biblical education that our on-campus students experience. Our degrees are designed to enhance your current ministries and careers and help you complete your bachelor's degree. Adult students who have a minimum of 40 transferable hours can start throughout the year to complete their degrees. Each course meets for eight weeks and earns three semester hours of credit. Most of the coursework done by students at MCC is in the classroom. However, a Directed Field Experience (DFE) allows students to take what they learned in the classroom and use it in real-life situations. A qualified person directs the DFE in the student’s major field. The professor and student prepare together before the DFE. On-site, the field supervisor mentors the student. The field supervisor and the student submit evaluation reports midway and at the end of the DFE. Students must complete a minimum of four hundred hours of work experience. View full university

A Pre-K-to-12th grade, coeducational, college-preparatory day school, the United Nations International School (UNIS) was established in 1947 by a group of United Nations parents to provide an international education for children while preserving their diverse cultural heritages. What began as a nursery school for 20 children quickly grew, adding grades, students, and faculty. Today, UNIS has over 1600 students in two locations, serving the United Nations, international and New York communities. Our campus in Jamaica Estates, Queens is a K-8 school, and our Manhattan campus, overlooking the East River, is Pre-K-12. UNIS was one of the International Baccalaureate (IB) founding schools and was among those awarding the first diplomas.
