  1. Livingstone College was founded as Zion Wesley Institute by a group of A.M.E. Zion ministers for training ministers in the Cabarrus County town of Concord, North Carolina, in 1879. After three brief sessions, directed by principals Bishop C. R. Harris and Professor A.S. Richardson, the Institute ultimately closed in Concord. In 1881, Dr. Joseph Charles Price and Bishop J. W. Hood changed their roles as delegates to the Ecumenical Conference. They became fund-raisers with the mission to re-establish Zion Wesley Institute. The Rowan County town of Salisbury, just 20 miles northeast of Concord, gave the Trustees a generous donation of $1,000 and an invitation to relocate the school in Salisbury. They accepted both gifts, and the College re-opened in Salisbury in 1882 with Dr. Price as President. The new site was J. M. Gray's farm called Delta Grove, which consisted of one building and 40 acres of land. The mission of the Division of Academic Affairs is to provide academic programs that are characterized by pedagogical competence. Instruction encourages the development of critical and analytical skills that prepare students for continued life-long learning in today's competitive global workplace. The Division of Academic Affairs is responsible for all academic programs' administration and leadership to ensure that they are in concert with the College's mission and strategic objectives and create a wholesome learning environment where academic excellence in teaching, research, and service is emphasized. The Academic Affairs consists of four divisions: Division of Business, Division of Education and Social Work, Division of Liberal Arts, and Division of Mathematics and Sciences. Continuing Education, The Office of the Registrar, and the Andrew Carnegie Library are housed in Academic Affairs. College Survival Skills and Empowering Scholars support the students and faculty of the Division. Grant programs are an integral component of the Division. These programs enhance student learning and academic success. Programs include Annenberg/UNCF-HBCU/School Linkage Program, Nuclear Science Technology, and Summer Math and Science Enrichment. We welcome all new and prospective students to Livingstone College during this exciting new era of Taking Livingstone College to the Next Level. We invite all prospective students to submit an application for admissions, visit our campus, and inquire about scholarship opportunities. Please explore our website for additional information on our academic programs, athletics, campus activities, and a host of additional information. 3. We are a small and friendly one-form entry school in New Barnet set in extensive grounds with spacious classrooms and excellent outdoor facilities on the edge of Hadley Wood. We work closely with parents to provide a supportive, stimulating, and happy environment for every child. Proudly, we are also an inclusive school with specialist provision for children on the autistic spectrum they are a valued part of our school community. Our vibrant and spacious classrooms are set in extensive grounds which provide ample opportunities for sports and other outdoor activities. All children at our school have access to a wide range of quality resources, and these are used to support and enhance their education. At Livingstone, we are one big family because although it is a school, it’s also a community where we feel secure, valued, and grateful for the time we have or will spend there. We all contribute to this as the teachers are kind and dedicated, planning enjoyable, creative lessons while the children do their best to listen and learn. The minute you step through the doors of the school, you feel loved and in the right place, that is why new students or visitors are warmly welcomed with open arms. In addition to the friendly ethos, there are many other reasons why Livingstone is so special. The Kingfisher provision caters to a range of children with autism providing individual learning programs in the provision and supporting them in the mainstream classes both with teaching support and by “buddying” them up with other pupils in their year group. Livingstone is also very multicultural and celebrates the ethnic diversity of its pupils. New arrivals are soon assimilated into their new classes with plenty of friends willing to help them find their feet. Learning is fun at Livingstone. On Wednesdays, all children experience the “Creative Curriculum” with specialist teachers offering a selection of physical and artistic activities including a range of sports, dance, drama, and various arts and crafts. Children have many opportunities to get involved in after-school clubs for football, netball, athletics, martial arts, computing, and film. Many pupils also get the chance to represent the school in a variety of competitive sporting events including the Borough Athletics Meeting at Copthall Stadium and Barnet Dance Festival at the Artsdepot. Also, we have a before-school Breakfast Club and an after-school Cabin Club to help working families with extra childcare provision. Both children and staff love working together at Livingstone, it is truly an inclusive school and in the words of one Y6 pupil, “Livingstone is special, it will always welcome you with a smile and a few caring words!” Livingstone Primary and Nursery School are committed to providing an inclusive environment conducive to learning for all. Each child is valued, respected, and challenged regardless of race, gender, religion social background, culture, or disability. The school recognizes that there are children who have abilities or potential beyond their age-related expectations and who require more challenging learning. At Livingstone Primary and Nursery School, we believe that every child is a unique individual and that each child should be taught to achieve national standards and beyond and have an equal learning opportunity. Our vision is for all children to access the whole curriculum whilst developing a lifelong love of learning. Our core values are shared and embedded across the school. Each half term we focus on a new core value which is discussed in lessons and assemblies. Our core values are respect, friendship, responsibility, care, determination, honesty, appreciation, cooperation, understanding, and patience.

  5. The College's Mission is to provide Christ-centered schooling in an atmosphere of love, respect, peace, and discipline – which will encourage students to achieve their full potential for God. Livingstone Christian College commenced in 2002. 62 Reedman's Road, Ormeau had been a campus of St Stephen's College, Coomera in 2001 – but that school closed after one operation year. Livingstone is a non-denominational, not-for-profit entity governed by a Board of Directors. It is part of a fellowship of schools administered by Christian Community Ministries Limited, which includes Groves Christian College (Kingston), Staines Memorial College (Redbank Plains), Dalby Christian College, Warwick Christian College, Whitsunday Christian College (Airlie Beach), and Endeavour Christian College (Cooktown) as well as schools in South Australia and New South Wales. Livingstone is a member of Independent Schools Queensland (IQS). Livingstone Christian College aspires to be a place where every child flourishes. We emphasize four key areas, including academic achievement, sporting development through essential focus sports, performing arts, and community (including trade training, preparing students for the Asia Century, and being a responsible local citizen). Within these four broad areas, we believe that every child can experience success and grow in confidence. Livingstone has a unique and robust emphasis on the development of the whole child, which is exemplified as we understand and live out the values of Jesus as an integral part of every child's educational journey. Located at Ormeau on Queensland's Gold Coast, our strong Christian values and dedicated staff provide a wholesome education experience for over 1100 students from our Early Learning Centre to Year 12. To ensure that your child flourishes at Livingstone, we have assembled a great team determined to be the best they can be. We have a strong commitment to professional development and performance management processes to ensure all staff, from our teachers to bus drivers, leaders to cleaners, are all working together to ensure that every child... your child... flourishes at Livingstone Christian College.
