  1. Located in South West London, close to the River Thames, Kingston College provides students with a friendly and stimulating environment to gain qualifications. Some 3,500 full time and 6,000 part-time students currently benefit from its professional approach to learning. Hardly surprising, therefore, is the rate of progression to higher education. Each year over 500 Kingston College students leave to become undergraduates at British Universities. Also, over 1,600 students study at the College on Higher Education courses. The origins of this success go back to 1899 when the Royal Borough of Kingston upon the Thames built Science and Art Schools and a Technical Institute on the present leading site of the College in Kingston Hall Road. The Victorian home of Kingston Technical College (as the institution was then known) survived until the 1960s when major reconstruction work followed a local reorganization of further and higher education. In 1962 Kingston Technical College split into the present College of further education and a college of technology, now Kingston University. Because Kingston College and Kingston University have this shared heritage, there remains a strong bond between them today, which works to benefit students. Jointly run courses and close staff relations ensure that a ladder of educational opportunity is available for full-time and part-time students from post-GCSE to first degree levels. So, as to respond to growing student demand, Kingston College has broadened the range of courses on offer to keep the curriculum abreast of new technology over the past few years. Kingston College is a primary provider of Full Time, Apprenticeships, Part Time and Undergraduate courses in Kingston upon the Thames. Kingston College offers both academic and vocational courses from Level 1 to Level 6 and a friendly, stimulating environment for study, all set in a historic market town by the River Thames. With excellent transport links and central London just 25 minutes away by train, Kingston upon the Thames is consistently voted one of the happiest places to live in London. So how can we help you? As providers of apprentice training across many industries, we have worked with large and well-known employers such as Rolls Royce, Siemens, and Imperial College for many years. Kingston College’s full time 16-18 Student Achievement Rates* for 2015-16 are our highest ever, placing us 6th out of 218 FE Colleges across England and officially the best College in London for student achievement. The College is also placed an outstanding 14th nationally for all-age achievement rates. *Department for Education and Education and Skills Funding Agency National Achievement Rate Tables (NARTS) for Further Education and Training. Our International students are supported by a highly qualified team that provides confidential advice and guidance in all areas and organizes social events to help them make friends and contacts. Kingston College’s Higher Education provision offers undergraduates a viable alternative to University courses. Unlike traditional universities, we offer lower tuition fees, small class sizes, one-to-one support, and excellent employment prospects. We have been awarded ‘Bronze’ by the government’s new Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) to recognize its high-quality teaching, learning, and outcomes for its higher education students. Our range of part-time courses aimed at adult learners offers to retrain and upskilling if you want to change your career pathway.
  2. At Kingston University, we take great pride in the difference we make to our 20,000 students' lives and the wider community we serve. We are continually striving to provide excellent services and to make a positive contribution to the borough's economic, social, and cultural life. Over the last ten years, we have achieved a lot by investing in our estate. Over the next ten years, we hope to continue to improve and transform our campuses by providing even better teaching and learning experience, and upgraded facilities for students, staff, and the local community. Working with RIBA award-winning and Stirling Prize nominated, Grafton Architects, Kingston University obtained permission for its new landmark teaching building, replacing an outdated, temporary building with one of high-quality design that offers a vibrant new face to the University and a welcoming gateway to Kingston upon the Thames. The new landmark building will transform the learning experience and bring together the University and the local community. Facilities will include a learning resources center, a covered courtyard, cafes, and a welcoming and attractive new landscaping scheme across the front of the campus. We are excited to commence construction in April 2017. The new building and landscaping are due to be ready in 2019, representing the first phase of the University's vision for the future. The new building will offer everyone a warm welcome. This includes students, staff, and alumni, as well as the local community and visitors from further afield. It will act as the University's front door, providing information and assistance, celebrating learning, showcasing achievements, and supporting collaborations with industry and others. It will provide a range of spaces that will facilitate learning as a social process and spaces for quiet study. The new building will offer everyone a warm welcome. It will provide a range of spaces that will facilitate learning as a social process and spaces for quiet study. We have appointed Grafton Architects to design the new building. They have a world-class reputation and the University panel that selected them unanimously agreed that their proposal would provide a building which would transform the learning experience. Grafton's design for Universita Luigi Bocconi, Milan, was named the World Building of the Year at the 2008 World Architecture Festival. In 2013 their University of Limerick Medical School was shortlisted for Britain's most prestigious architectural award, the RIBA Stirling Prize. They are currently working on Université Toulouse 1 Capitole in France, a £100million faculty building at the London School of Economics, and a new university of engineering - UTEC Lima, in Peru. The latter is among 30 buildings selected for visits by the RIBA awards committee under consideration for the inaugural 2016 RIBA International Prize. This project has also been nominated for the Design Museum's ninth annual awards. It will form part of the opening program of exhibitions when it opened in new premises in Kensington High Street in November 2016. They have also won a British Civic Trust award for sensitive construction in a conservation area. The University was pleased to announce the appointment of Willmott Dixon Construction as the building contractor for Town House. They will be working closely with the existing team of Grafton Architects and Turner & Townsend to construct the landmark building. Willmott Dixon Construction has an excellent track record in delivering multi-million pound public and commercial projects. It has been named Education Constructor of the Year by Education Investor magazine for three years. Throughout the construction period, the University will be working closely with Willmott Dixon, who is part of the Considerate Constructors Scheme to ensure that disruption to students, staff, and neighbors outside of the campus is kept to a minimum. We will also be hosting regular events, both internally and externally, with Willmott Dixon to provide information on the construction program and allow people to become involved in the project. Our commitment to being environmentally conscious and sustainable will be at the forefront of the new development. The architects have designed a building that will accommodate the evolving needs of those who use, manage, and fund buildings in efficient, effective, environmentally-friendly ways over the building's whole life. We were awarded a Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) rating of 'Excellent' for our new Kingston Business School building in 2012. We are currently on target to exceed a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating for this new building. One of the new building's sustainable features will include a green roof – a lightweight plant covering to encourage biodiversity: "Grafton Architects are delighted with their appointment to design this exciting new building for Kingston University. As expressed in the brief for the building, we found the educational vision extremely progressive and inspirational. The building we designed was a direct response to this vision, which called for openness, interaction, connection with the community of students, and connection with Kingston's wider community." Shelley McNamara and Yvonne Farrell, Grafton Architects "Grafton has an international reputation for designing thoughtful, beautifully detailed buildings, and the University is excited to be working with them on the first Grafton building in the UK." Sean Woulfe, Director of Estates, Kingston University Willmott Dixon Construction will formally take ownership of the site in April 2017. Before this, they will begin preparatory works to make the site ready for construction to commence. All necessary measures will be taken by Willmott Dixon to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum. Construction will start in April 2017, with the building targeted for completion and open for use for the beginning of the 2019 academic year.

They also gain the essential skills they need for success at university and in their future careers. At Kingston international School we firmly believe that parents play a vital role in the education of their children and the school encourages a healthy cooperative parent-school relationship. Parents are as much a part of the learning experience at Kingston as are the students, teachers, and staff.
  4. At Kingston, we want our students to fully develop all areas and fulfill their potential in a happy learning environment. We aim for each of our students to have a well-rounded education and to develop a love of learning that will last their whole life long. We believe that parents play a vital role in their child's learning and we work closely with our families to help their children prepare to face the challenges of the 21st century. Academic excellence, the belief in a healthy body as well as a healthy mind, dedicated staff, and caring families all contribute to Kingston continuing to be a high-quality school. To provide a challenging and stimulating environment that nurtures the balanced development of students who, in their own unique way, grow into active and responsible world citizens. Our Objectives: To provide a learning environment where English and Putonghua are the languages of instruction, To provide a quality education based on the principles of Internationalism, To provide our students with essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge along with the opportunities to apply them, To provide a safe and supportive learning environment where students can develop their own inquiries, To implement a program of inquiry that encourages students to take action, To provide opportunities for students to work independently and collaboratively while solving problems and meeting challenges, To promote respect for the beliefs and perspectives of others, To foster a sense of community among students, parents, teachers through open communication and cooperation. Kingston International School offers an IB-PYP bilingual (English/Putonghua) program for students aged 1 to 11 years of age. Kingston has three campuses - the Kindergarten and Children's Centre which houses our early year's program for children 1 to 4 years of age, a Lower Primary campus for students from Year 1 to Year 3, and an Upper Primary campus for students from Year 4 to Year 6. Although we have 3 campuses we are still a small school with a community feel. We maintain small class sizes and have an English and a Putonghua class teacher for each class. Kingston has been an authorized IB-PYP school since 2004. The philosophy of the PYP is infused in all aspects of our school. Teachers receive IB-PYP training and ongoing support from our PYP coordinators. At Kingston, we value teachers who are passionate, enthusiastic and true lifelong learners. Teachers that thrive in a small school environment and value teamwork both in the classroom and as a whole school are ideal Kingston teachers. Our teaching team is comprised of English and Putonghua teachers working side by side in the classroom so strong interpersonal skills and evidence of a high level of collaborative planning are essential.
  5. Kingston is comprised of Playgroup, Nursery, Kindergarten, and Primary students who are guided by a diverse and uniquely qualified staff united in our belief in bilingualism and a small-school approach to learning. After graduating from Kingston Primary, our students have the through-train option of continuing the small-school approach in secondary school at International College Hong Kong. Since 1994, Kingston has dedicated itself to the worthy pursuit of equipping students to be proficient in two of the most significant languages of the twenty-first century: English and Chinese (Putonghua). For over 20 years, Kingston has successfully provided a challenging and stimulating environment that nurtures the balanced development of students who, in their own unique way, grow into active and responsible world citizens. We are proud to have been the first school in Hong Kong to be authorized to provide the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. The IBPYP provides a unique framework for approaches to learning. The flexibility of the IBO framework has ensured that Kingston has been able to maintain its dedication to bilingualism while ensuring international standards of English, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Science, Arts, and Physical Education and providing an excellent environment for Chinese language development. Members of the community who take the opportunity to walk the halls and visit the classrooms of Kingston often comment on the fluidity with which our students switch between Putonghua and English. This is a point of particular pride for us. While many schools view languages as subjects, we take particular pride in having two living languages at Kingston. Kingston teachers come from all over the globe and they bring with them a wide variety of experiences. Varied experiences and points of view are valued within the IB approaches to learning, as is lifelong learning. Our dedication to teacher professional development is unsurpassed and makes Kingston an attractive option for teachers who want to work at a school where training and experience result in a mature program with a deep understanding of the IBPYP framework and the most innovative, successful, child-centered educational program ever developed. To provide a challenging and stimulating environment that nurtures the balanced development of students who, in their own unique way grow into active and responsible world citizens. To provide a learning environment where English and Putonghua are the languages of instruction. To provide a quality education based on the principles of Internationalism. To provide our students with essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge along with the opportunities to apply them. To provide a safe and supportive learning environment where students can develop their own inquiries. To implement a program of inquiry that encourages students to take action. To provide opportunities for students to work independently and collaboratively while solving problems and meeting challenges. To promote respect for the beliefs and perspectives of others. To foster a sense of community among students, parents, teachers through open communication and cooperation. We are at an exciting time in the development of the school for several reasons. The current Y7-9 students are following the Middle School Curriculum (MSC). Students are enjoying the opportunities this brings including improving links across subject areas, skills being taught explicitly in the classroom, and an alive, online reporting system that is custom made for our needs. In August 2017, we will be introducing the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for Year 7 which will roll out over three years. This framework will further develop the student learning experience. In many ways, this will build on the work we are currently doing with the MSC. All ESF schools will be on the same journey so we are working together with MYP schools to share best practices. Performance Coaching at KGV continues to develop and is changing the way we have conversations across the school and the way we can support students through tutoring. We are in a fortunate position in that we are situated in a community where the student population is not transient so we have time to build relationships and we are proud to be part of the KGV community. If you ever ask a teacher why they love working at KGV they will undoubtedly mention the students and the way they engage positively in everything they do. We create a ‘school for one. A place where each person engages in remarkable learning to achieve at high levels and be the best they can be. As an agile school, we collaborate and innovate to make a difference in the communities we serve and lead. Our students are empowered to be their own remarkable by: Challenging themselves and others to achieve at high levels and be the best learners they can be Embracing and enacting our school values of honesty, courage, and resilience Dreaming big and setting ambitious goals and targets Being excited, innovative, and grasping opportunities Understanding their wellbeing and enacting behaviors to stay healthy Connecting positively with others and embracing diversity in our global context Our staff is empowered to be their own remarkable by: Placing our students first in all that they do Collaborating with others to promote their learning and our collective capabilities Embracing, enacting, and explicitly modeling our values of honesty, courage, and resilience Communicating a sense of optimism, positivity and displaying a ‘growth mindset’ Demonstrating a mindset of high expectations and continuously evaluating the impact their teaching is having on student learning Promoting and enacting wellbeing as a foundation of our learning community Our school is remarkable by: Creating a ‘school for one’ that personalizes the learning experience for all and enables every person to be a remarkable learner Being a hub for community learning where our parents, alumni, and community connect in authentic, sustainable, and evolving ways Honoring our rich history and traditions whilst embracing innovation Prioritizing the connection between wellbeing and learning through our values and actions Being an agile school and empowering collaboration at all levels to build our ‘engine rooms’ for professional learning, teacher evaluation of their impact on student learning, and driving school improvement within our ESF family Truly believing, that every person can be their own remarkable.
