Our students enjoy specialist lessons in Woodwork, Music, and Art. We also teach Mandarin to encourage our youngest global citizens to understand Australia's position in the world. The specialist, Physical Education, and Sport sessions aim to develop our young children's health and well-being. The Music program at Tudor House supports and encourages every child to learn and appreciate music. Students learn at least one instrument, with some of our children playing up to three different instruments. The children also consider it an honor to sing in the Tudor House choir. Our campus is technology-rich, with our classrooms supported by extensive Wi-Fi coverage, interactive SMART boards, and Apple laptops for student use. We are committed to ensuring our students know how to use technology to support and enhance their learning experience at Tudor House. At Tudor House, we are most proud of our high caliber, dedicated teaching staff who work tirelessly to deliver top-quality learning programs. We continuously invest in professional development opportunities for our staff to ensure that we offer our students the best opportunities. Current research confirms that learning in a co-educational environment has benefits for both boys and girls. In all areas of life after school, men and women cooperate in their daily lives. Students who attend a co-educational school are introduced to this environment well before entering the workforce, giving them a distinct advantage. Sending your child to a school with boys and girls will encourage their self-esteem, social skills and better prepare them for a diverse world where both genders play important roles. Co-educational environments teach students to respect the opposite gender, expose them to different viewpoints, and help break down gender stereotypes. View full school

    King's Academy

In a setting that is rich in history and tradition, King’s Academy is committed to providing a comprehensive college-preparatory education through a challenging curriculum in the arts and sciences an integrated co-curricular program of athletics, activities, and community service, and a nurturing residential environment. Our students will learn to be independent, creative, and responsible thinkers within an ethical community that encourages young men and women of diverse backgrounds and beliefs to excel, to cherish one another, and to prepare for leadership. King’s Academy, an independent, coeducational boarding and day school, will provide outstanding young men and women from Jordan, the Middle East, and beyond an educational experience unlike any available in the region. Blending an American style of education rooted in the liberal arts and sciences with Middle Eastern history, traditions, language, and cultural values, the Academy will feature close teacher-student interaction, the most current technological resources, and a stimulating array of curricular and extracurricular activities designed to help students flourish intellectually and personally. Welcoming talented students from all backgrounds, religions, and social classes, the Academy aims to foster empathy, tolerance, and harmony. Through the active participation of students and teachers in a self-governing community, it will prepare students for future roles as leaders in government, business, and civic life. The King’s Academy campus is unique in the Middle East. Designed by renowned Egyptian architect and Director of the Prince’s School of Traditional Arts in London Khaled Azzam, the campus and buildings are constructed on an extensive 575-dunum site (144 acres) and comprise some 34 major buildings. These include state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, and a 50,000-book library, a multi-faith spiritual center and garden, dormitories incorporating faculty family apartments, and a magnificent auditorium that will serve not just the school but the nation as well. King’s Academy admits students of any race, color, creed, or national origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the Academy and do not discriminate based on these differences. We celebrate the differences in background, circumstances, and educational experiences of our various students and value the diverse perspectives that each contributes to the school community. Grounded in the liberal arts and sciences, the academic program at King’s Academy provides opportunities for both breadth and depth of study. We offer Advanced Placement exams in 27 subjects, as well as a variety of electives in history, religion, and the arts, including courses in vocal and instrumental music, dance, theater, sculpture, drawing, and painting. Following our five Guiding Principles—respect, a love of learning, responsibility, the need for an integrated life, and global citizenship—the goal of education at King’s Academy is to ensure that students emerge with the knowledge and skills that will allow them not merely to gain admission to the most selective colleges and universities in the world, but more importantly to develop their full potential as human beings. At King’s Academy, we stress canonical approaches to the acquisition of understanding, as well as less traditional means, such as collaborative small group work individual research and a “portfolio” approach, in which students demonstrate their understanding through projects and activities, not just through exams. Each term, students take seven or eight courses, most meeting for 45 minutes a day. During their junior and senior years, students will have the option of taking several advanced or interdisciplinary elective courses. Throughout the curriculum we emphasize: Mastery of written and oral expression in both Arabic and English and the related skills of interpretation, analysis, and argument Quantitative literacy, scientific investigation, and the responsible, thoughtful use of technology The exercise of critical and ethical judgment as well as a rigorous inquiry into the world’s major religious, philosophic, and literary traditions The cultivation of imagination and empathy Active, engaged learning.

  4. Welcome to King’s College Doha. As you explore our website, I hope you will get a sense of our happy, caring, and progressive school. Founded in 2016, King's College Doha shares a unique thread with our UK sister school, King’s College, Taunton. Rewards are plentiful through our House Points system – these points are earned through both social and academic endeavors. Children are given ample stimulation through the wealth of skills, experience, and knowledge that our dedicated staff provides. We are proud of our building and its facilities, but most importantly we are immensely proud of the children who have grown to know and love King’s College, and to make the school what it is in such a short space of time. King’s College Doha has been designed by award-winning school architects and when complete will house some of the finest Early Years and Primary school facilities in Qatar. The layout of King’s College is informed by a desire to deliver an innovative and contemporary curriculum. Each space is considered as being able to provide teaching and learning opportunities. The design of the internal and external spaces is also focused on harnessing and promoting interaction between all users and visitors to the College. The Early Years Foundation Stage, home to our youngest Pre-School and Reception children, occupies one corner of the site and has its secure entrance and play areas. A new double-height reception area provides a warm welcome to parents and visitors. Comfortable seating areas, with digital displays, create a further sense of hospitality and give an immediate glimpse of the quality of the spaces that lie beyond. King’s College Doha has already seen an extensive refurbishment and redevelopment of an existing SEC school and there are further developments still to come. The images in this gallery show how we have transformed the school, both internally and externally, into a bright, contemporary, and inspirational teaching and learning environment.
  5. King's College, an independent secondary school in Auckland, New Zealand, is founded on providing the best all-around education it is possible to obtain. Our students benefit from our rich history and the strong community that has developed around the College since its foundation more than 120 years ago. When King’s College was established in 1896, the founder and principal, Mr. Graham Bruce, described the aim of the College as being able to provide the best all-around education it is possible to obtain. A core value of the College is to affirm the significance of the Christian spiritual journey. Our students grow to be well-rounded individuals who explore who they are, the Anglican faith, have a strong sense of belonging, and search for meaning and purpose in life. Through our Religious Education teachings in the classroom, our community service program, Voyager course, and Chapel Choir, and more, the College does much to celebrate its Anglican and Christian ethos. Our goal is to prepare our students so that they can flourish in today’s rapidly changing world. Staff are dedicated to the development of our academic curriculum and co-curricular programs and have worked productively to create exciting, challenging, and worthwhile opportunities for all our students. King’s College aims to provide a full and balanced curriculum that is stimulating, enjoyable, challenging, and takes account of each student’s specific learning needs. We believe that the role of the College is to provide a wide range of challenging learning opportunities that will enable each individual to realize their potential. It is also our role to support our students to meet the challenges we set for them. We recognize that a one-size-fits-all approach to teaching and learning is flawed. Different students will need different levels of support and we are committed to understanding the individual needs and circumstances of each student. At King’s, we offer the Dual Qualification Pathways of both Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA). We are proud to offer a choice of CIE and NCEA to our senior students and we do this to ensure each student has access to the teaching and learning opportunities that will give them the tools to succeed in their chosen subjects. Making decisions about which qualification pathway to follow and selecting which subjects to take can be a challenge for many students. We encourage all our students to keep their subject choices broad rather than specializing too early. By keeping a mix of subjects across areas such as the humanities, sciences, and maths, you are keeping your options open for your future studies and career choices, as well as developing the diversity of skills that employers are looking for. King’s College not only offers opportunities for students to achieve good academic results, we actively promote the benefits of a wider curriculum to students. Participation in co-curricular activities helps promote engagement with the King’s College values and provides a transformative experience through which students can prepare themselves to succeed in the many and varied roles they will undertake in future life. Staffed full-time by professional librarians, the King’s College Library operates as a research hub and communal space for our students to study, meet and share ideas. Our librarians assist students in their search for materials to support their research projects and class assignments. An important focus for our library staff is teaching students how to find quality resources and encouraging them to look beyond Google searches and Wikipedia. Through the King’s College Library students are familiarised with library systems – a skill that is vital as they continue their studies – and gain access to an extensive network of online resources. King’s has adopted Accessit Library software which allows our students to search for books and other resources when it suits them – onsite, from the classroom, or at home on the weekend. For King's, financial independence is reliant on the philanthropic support of its community of past and current parents, Old Collegians and their families, and many others who appreciate the value of a King's College education.

We encourage students to fully engage with our campus community to actively participate in opportunities to contribute by sharing their time and energy with the College and the local community. Doing so ensures they will develop rewarding relationships, encourage acceptance of personal differences, and assume responsibility for their actions and behavior. College living provides lessons and values that last a lifetime. The Office of Residence Life gives students the guided independence they need to grow. Residence halls offer safe, healthy environments. The residential apartment system fosters greater freedom and an enhanced forum to add to their personal development. Students are aided in their journey by the presence of Residence Life staff members, who are tasked with being present and active on their journey through College. Students can develop and nurture ideals of mutual respect for others, faith, and service. These ideals are the concrete manifestation of the mission of the Congregation of the Holy Cross. King's was founded in 1946 to educate the sons of miners and mill workers. While much has changed over the years, our commitment to provide a solid foundation in the liberal arts, along with the professional tools to enjoy a successful career in several fields, continues to this day. Students of all faiths and backgrounds benefit from a curriculum focused on the mind as it is the soul.

These Ministry Training programs are designed to provide in-depth participation in dynamic areas of ministry at Gateway Church, students at the TKU main campus, or other associated local churches for students attending a TKU branch campus. This "hands-on" experience serves as a vital training ground for any student seeking vocational ministry. Each TKU undergraduate student will participate in weekly involvement in the life and ministries of the church. TKU Student Life is committed to providing a vibrant atmosphere for students to connect with God and each other. Whether eating lunch in the café, worshipping in the chapel, or participating in intramural sports, there are countless opportunities to develop meaningful relationships within a Christ-centered community. Reaching out to people in our community and around the world is of great importance to us here at The King's University. Throughout the year, we take groups to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ and show His love to those in need. These trips are designed to allow students to join in efforts locally, nationally, and internationally. Missions both locally and internationally transform the people that are served, but through serving and giving of time, your heart is changed as well.
  8. In 1938 in Belmar, New Jersey, Dr. Percy Crawford founded The King’s College to provide a challenging liberal arts education, a deep, meaningful understanding of biblical faith and prepare students to take their education and understanding into the world and its strategic institutions. The King’s College stands firmly rooted in the grand tradition of the animating ideals of Western Civilization, and yet fully engaged in the debates regarding the future of our society. For more than 75 years, the College has produced graduates who lead and bring real change to the strategic public and private institutions worldwide. Through its commitment to the truths of Christianity and a biblical worldview, The King’s College seeks to transform society by preparing students for careers in which they help to shape and eventually to lead strategic public and private institutions, and by supporting faculty members as they directly engage culture through writing and speaking publicly on critical issues. We educate young leaders to seamlessly integrate their faith, ethics, and morality into their lives and careers. Students are immersed in challenging academic and spiritual study that demands thinking, communicating, and problem-solving with the mind, heart, and soul. We require engagement with complex ideas to guide society's strategic institutions — government, commerce, law, media, civil society, education, the arts, and the Church. We participate in a demanding curriculum and present unique opportunities to students in the heart of New York City. We are not a college for the timid soul — we value bravery, commitment, and action. One of the great strengths of The King’s College education is the interdisciplinary nature of the curriculum. Students explore a wide range of ideas and topics, but most importantly, they study the relationships between ideas, generating interest in and recognizing the value of multiple disciplines. Our fifteen minors support each major of study so that students graduate with an impressive, agile intellect and a dependable ability to influence our culture.

To be widely known as a Christian university serving to build a more humane, just, and sustainable world. The educational philosophy of The King's University is rooted in the historic Christian faith and seeks to work out concretely what the Christian faith means for a liberal arts education. We believe that all teaching and learning occurs within contexts of views of Life and society. The context for education at The King's University is a specifically Christian world-and-life view, meaning a view that is informed by the Bible, the authoritative Word of God as confessed by the early church, and in the creeds of the Protestant Reformation. From the Bible, we derive the following principles which provide the framework for education at The King's University: Creation: that humanity and the entire world find their origin, meaning, and purpose in God the Creator and Jesus Christ the Redeemer. Sin: that humanity, by its original disobedience, broke its relationship with God and caused God's curse on creation. Redemption: that Christ, the Word Incarnate, is the Redeemer who restores the relationship between God and God's creation and who renews Life through the Holy Spirit. Human Life: All of Life, including teaching and Learning, is service either to the God of the Scriptures or to a god of human invention. Teaching and Learning: that teaching and Learning must proceed in the light of God's written Word and accordance with God's Creation order. Teachers and Students: that teachers and students, as image-bearers of God, are, in mutual respect, to fulfill their calling to develop the earth and serve God and their neighbor in education. WE VALUE community… mutual encouragement, openness, and respect among students, staff, and faculty growth and maturity as Christians in all aspects of our lives our founding Reformed tradition for its convictions that our world belongs to God and that the redemptive work of Christ embraces all things the diverse Christian faith traditions of our faculty, staff, and students who enrich our academic community intellectually and spiritually our supporting constituency for its vision and dedication our calling to contribute to the public good collaboration with individuals, institutions, and governing authorities in higher education and Learning… interest in exploring all dimensions of our world learning marked by openness, delight, and awe the creative and critical pursuit of knowledge and wisdom the unfolding of creative gifts and talents interdisciplinary Learning excellence in teaching, learning, and research student engagement in learning and research For service... global awareness shaped by respect for our neighbors social transformation rooted in a biblical vision of justice and compassion care for creation stewardship of all our resources View full university
  10. The University of King's College, Canada's oldest chartered university, is a small and extraordinarily lively academic community located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The College is known nationally and internationally for its interdisciplinary programs in the humanities and journalism. The university, rich with history, maintains many of its old academic traditions: Formal Meal has the students and faculty dressed in academic gowns, student societies founded in the early 19th century are still thriving, a Matriculation reception is held each September in honor of entering students, and graduates are fêted with an Encaenia ceremony each May. The combination of these traditions with the forward-looking innovations of students and faculty makes for a stimulating intellectual environment. While the College's neighboring institution, Dalhousie University, has an enrollment of over 16,000 (11,000 undergraduates), King's has a total of about 1,200. The College is committed to retaining the personal atmosphere, individual attention, and sense of community that only a small university can offer. Our intimate community, combined with the resources and faculty at Dalhousie, provides students with unique undergraduate education opportunities. Our Foundation Year Programme, founded in 1972, is a pioneering program that addresses the history of Western thought through interdisciplinary lectures, small tutorial sessions, and a strong emphasis on writing that has inspired similar programs, both nationally and across the globe. King's is now a four-year institution. Nearly half of our students continue into an upper-year opportunity, pairing their honors studies at the College with the range of courses available at Dalhousie. King's was ranked first in Canada in the 2008 and 2009 National Survey of Student Engagement for its first-year programming. Science and technology infuse every aspect of modern life, shaping the conditions of our work and play, our self-understanding, our relation to the environment, and our understanding of what counts as real knowledge. Rooted in science and the humanities, HOST offers a genuinely interdisciplinary approach to studying the fascinating and ever-changing interactions between society and scientific knowledge and practice. Students who intend to apply to graduate school or professional programs (such as medicine, law, or journalism) are encouraged to take an honors degree, which requires a higher quality of work than other undergraduate programs. In HOST you must pursue a Combined Honours degree (that is a degree integrating courses from two disciplines) by combining your HOST degree with a program from Dalhousie's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (for a BA), a program from Dalhousie's Faculty of Science (for a BSc), or a degree in Journalism (for a BJH). The requirements for the second honors subject are dependent on that department and vary from program to program. Students may fulfill the honors requirement in either of the two honors subjects. Usually, this subject will be the one in which the student has taken more classes. In the HOST program, completion of the honors thesis fulfills the requirement of the honors qualifying examination. 15. We are a leading independent prep school with 420 boys and girls aged 4 - 13. We are large enough to provide a full range of options and facilities, but small enough to give a 'family feel' where the teachers can get to know all of the children. Aims And Objectives To provide a broad, balanced, and well-rounded education for pupils To challenge pupils to develop their abilities, encouraging and promoting academic, musical, and sporting excellence, as well as allowing pupils to be involved in a variety of extracurricular activities To establish a firm foundation of skills, knowledge, and understanding, upon which, pupils build at senior school. 16. We are a forward-thinking and innovative place in which to learn. As well as being a very successful International Baccalaureate school, we offer pupils the opportunity to study from a wide A level curriculum. For many years we have enjoyed genuinely two-way partnerships with local maintained secondary and primary schools. We admit girls into our sixth form, convinced that co-education in the two years preceding university is a natural and positive step for boys and girls alike. We accept boys at the age of 11 directly into year 7 of the senior school from both primary and prep schools, whilst retaining our year 9 entry for boys aged 13 from prep schools and our junior school. At King's, our priority is to provide a world-class education to each student. Our strategy is designed to further enhance the education we offer - to provide an environment that will inspire and enable our students, teachers, and the wider community and to widen access to the education we provide, offering new opportunities and creating a genuinely diverse student body. King’s College School is committed to broadening access by offering to eligible parents/guardians means-tested financial support with the payment of school fees. The school offers several entrance bursaries at 11+, 13+ and sixth form of up to 100% of tuition fees. All bursary applications are subject to annual means testing and may be varied upwards or downwards depending on parental circumstances and financial information provided on review. As part of the registration process, parents have the opportunity to request a bursary application form. If you would like to see an example of our application form, please use the link on the right. Please do not use this specimen form for your application. The school uses Bursary Administration Ltd to review and assess entrance bursary applications. This may include a home visit which, by necessity, will be at short notice. If your bursary assessment includes a home visit, Bursary Administration Ltd will contact you directly. Bursary application assessments are conducted independently of the academic selection process. No action regarding your bursary application should be considered as indicative as to whether an offer of a place in the school will be made. Co-curricular activities (CCAs) play a key role in a student's life at King’s this is reflected by our significant investment in music, sport, and drama facilities. The emphasis, as elsewhere at King’s, is on variety, inclusion, and encouragement. King’s has a long history of enabling bright young people from all backgrounds to access the school. We are now making increasing provision for bursaries, both from our resources and as a result of the generosity of our benefactors. We offer bursaries at 11+, 13+ and 16+ of up to 100% of tuition fees, depending on need. Parents should always make their initial application in advance of any entrance examination. The Club aims to offer the best possible facilities for competitive prices and is a popular choice for not just King’s students but also the local community. The facilities include a swimming pool, strength & conditioning studio, tennis courts, squash courts, and a yoga & pilates studio. Personal training, swimming lessons, and children’s sports parties are all available at the Club. Safeguarding at King’s is consistent with the safeguarding procedures for Merton and the London local Safeguarding Children Boards. Our latest Independent Schools Inspectorate report(ISI) confirmed that safeguarding at King’s is a major priority and that our policy and procedures are implemented effectively. The quality of teaching at King’s is outstanding, and colleagues know how important the first two years of secondary school are in establishing a love of learning, good habits of concentration, understanding, imaginative flexibility, and discipline. Lessons are fun, exhilarating, and purposeful, creating the best possible foundation for the GCSEs ahead. King’s was founded by royal charter in 1829 as the junior department of the newly established King’s College of the University of London on the Strand. During the early Victorian period, the school grew in numbers and reputation. Members of the teaching staff included artist John Sell Cotman and poet Gabriele Rossetti, who taught Italian (his son, the infamous Dante Gabriel, joined King’s in 1837). By 1843 King’s had grown in size from 85 to 500 pupils. The school was progressive in its curriculum and appointed its first science master in 1855, at a time where very few schools taught science. The first headmaster, John Major, served the school between 1831 and 1866. 99 of the school’s pupils from this period appear in the Dictionary of National Biography. As competitor schools moved to new sites with modern facilities and large playing fields, King’s fell behind, prompting the school to move to its present site in Wimbledon. The junior school opened on the same campus in 1912. In World War I, many letters were written to the school, including some from the Battle of the Somme. During World War II, the Great Hall was damaged by bomb shrapnel some of the damage can still be seen on the outside of the hall today. The school is completing a ten-year infrastructure master plan to enhance our facilities for pupils. Completed projects include a new reception through the Bannister Fletcher 1897 Great Hall, a new landscaped quadrangle, a refurbished and enlarged dining hall, and a new classroom block, which is home to our lower school (year 7 and ? pupils. In spring 2018, a new state-of-the-art music school was completed. The building includes a suite of sound-proofed practice rooms, group rehearsal venues, specialist classrooms, and a 200-seat concert hall. We are currently underway on our next project - a new sports complex and multi-use sports hall, including all-weather tennis courts and a six-lane swimming pool.
  17. At King’s House School we recognize the importance of a broad curriculum. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage and National Curriculum initially but extend well beyond its boundaries to provide the enrichment and challenge which will prepare pupils for Common Entrance and senior school scholarships at a pace and level appropriate to their needs. As a preparatory school, we recognize the responsibility we have, not only in educating each pupil but also in developing a love of learning and satisfaction in personal achievement. The approach in the classroom through the School is one of praise and encouragement. Recognition of achievement is in the form of House Points which are awarded in each Department and added to the House totals. Boys’ names are also added to the Gold Book or Distinctions List and are included in the weekly newsletter. In the Senior Department, half-termly grades are given for both effort and achievement and the end-of-term reports provide targets for future improvement. Throughout the School we have qualified Learning Support teachers who work closely with the classroom teachers and provide extra support for pupils as and when it is needed. Throughout their time at King’s House, the boys work hard and achieve high academic standards that set them up very well when they move on to their senior schools. There are regular Visitor Mornings when prospective parents and children may visit the Nursery, Junior and Senior Departments and meet the Head of School, Head of Junior Department, Head of Nursery and other members of staff. Girls and boys may start in the Nursery in the term of their 3rd birthday. We offer places in order of date of registration. Boys from the Nursery and those with brothers already at the School are given priority in our Reception classes and are expected to stay at King’s House until the end of Year 8 before moving on to their senior school. We are a mixed-ability school so we do not assess the boys before offering them places. When you register your child, he or she is put on the Waiting List for their age group. Nursery places are offered approximately 2 terms before entry. Reception places are offered about a year before entry. Around half our Reception intake is made up of boys coming from our Nursery. When you are offered a place you have to complete an Acceptance Contract and pay a committal fee which is returned to you when your child leaves King’s House, less any extras. We also have small in-takes at 7+, 8+ and 11+ into Years 3, 4, and 7 (up to about 6 places) boys wishing to enter at this stage are assessed in November or January before entry. They are tested in English and Mathematics, as well as being interviewed. Extra help is available for a child who may be initially slow to make progress or where they may encounter a specific difficulty, at no extra cost. If it is felt necessary they may be assessed by one of our learning support teachers who may, in turn, suggest that the child needs a full assessment by an educational psychologist. We can currently give boys up to two half-hour sessions, either individually or in small groups, to help with any diagnosed problems within our competence. An Individual Educational Programme is written for each boy receiving extra support and is agreed upon between the Learning Support teacher, the parent, and the child. We also aim to identify and provide for those who need extra extension work in any area. The youngest pupils at King’s House School have their building in Princes Road, just a stone’s throw from the Junior and Senior Departments on Kings Road. The Nursery Department is found in The Old School House, an attractive Victorian building with high ceilings and large open plan classrooms that provide the perfect environment for Early Years education. On the first floor, you will find the Caterpillar group (children aged 3 and rising 3) in their own homely, cozy, and welcoming room. The room is carefully planned and extensively resourced to provide an exciting environment where young children can use their imagination to create and discover. Staff is exceptionally caring and nurturing, understanding that for most children (and their parents) this is the first rung on the educational ladder. King’s House Junior Department offers its pupils a unique, caring, and stimulating environment in which all the boys are encouraged to reach their potential. It is housed in two Victorian buildings which have been sensitively extended and enhanced to provide a wonderful learning environment. Boys join the Junior Department when they are aged 4 and they start in Reception where they are gently introduced to the School routine whilst following the Early Years Foundation Stage. The boys are based in their classrooms with their teacher and assistant for most of the time but also have specialist teachers for French, Music, and PE. We aim to ensure a smooth transition from the Junior Department to the Senior Department, and the boys enjoy the challenge of starting in a new building and set-up. In reality, they already know the Senior Department well as they have been taught by a number of its teachers and had lessons in the music and sports facilities. We aim to continue offering the boys a broad range of experiences and a varied, challenging curriculum. There is also a wide range of activities – musical, sporting, and artistic – for the boys to choose from on the extra-curricular front.
  18. King’s Bruton is a remarkable school with 500 years of history. We are blessed with a wonderful location in South Somerset. There are 350 pupils at King’s and the key to our success, and sustained popularity is to combine our relatively small size with a high-quality education. In recent years we have had outstanding GCSE, A-Level and BTEC result with the vast majority of our pupils going on to their first choice of university. Our hockey teams have reached 12 National Finals in the last seven years with our U16 girls winning the English Schools' National Indoor Hockey Championships in 2017. There are over 70 pupils in our full Choir, our Chapel Choir sings Evensong in regional cathedrals every term, whilst our 200-seat theatre is the venue for outstanding drama. Our thriving CCF is one of the oldest in the country whilst over half of our senior pupils undertake Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards. King’s Bruton is a boarding and day school, which places a very high value on a genuinely holistic education in which every individual pupil is allowed to flourish and develop. The School constantly strives to set standards that are well beyond what might normally be expected. The five main aims of the strategic development plan are: To develop further the School’s warm and supportive boarding community, and to provide a comprehensive round education in which pupils of all ages are valued as individuals. To enhance the School’s strong Christian ethos, and to continue to encourage and support pupils in their spiritual growth and faith. To continue to raise the academic expectations of all pupils at GCSE, BTEC, AS, and A-Level, and in terms of their higher education/career aspirations within a broad and balanced curriculum. To ensure that, within the School’s resources, access to a King’s education and facilities are as open as possible to the wider community. To aim for excellence in the fields of sport and the performing arts. These school values are outlined every year by the School Prefects. They are the values that the Prefects want to be upheld by the rest of the King’s community. As a school community we aspire to uphold: A sense of community: In a small school like King’s, the community spirit is what makes us stand out from the rest. We are a close-knit school so no one is left out. The friendly atmosphere allows individual personalities to develop. Punch above our weight: Our size does not hold us back. We have the willingness and determination to go the extra mile and to achieve the best of our abilities both inside and outside the classroom. Modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat: At King’s, we believe encouraging involvement in all areas of school life leads to a more rounded individual. We acknowledge the humility and enthusiasm necessary to do better in the future. Acceptance and equality: King prides itself on the equality and fairness of its pupils. Diversity is accepted and valued equally so no one feels excluded or less important than anyone else. Loyalty: Loyalty drives life at King’s: this is not only loyalty to friends and staff but also loyalty to Houses, teams, and ultimately oneself. Whether it’s on the sports field, or halfway through the toils of the School year, our loyalties will be what inspire us. Respect: We believe King’s shows respect in all aspects of school life this includes respect towards the School grounds, each other, and any member of staff while also being able to enjoy fun and friendly relationships across the age groups. Pride: We feel all members of King’s, staff and pupils alike, are proud to be part of our school community. This leads to a desire to excel in the School and help us to make the School the best it can be.

23. The King's School Parramatta is Australia's oldest independent school and perhaps its best known. Founded in 1831 by command of King William IV of England, King's was established as a boys' school that would provide Australia with its next generation of leaders. Situated on 300 acres of beautiful parkland in Sydney's demographic center, King's has also endeavored to give educational leadership by contributing richly to educational and social debate. Its teaching resources, particularly in boys' education, boarding, and the developing of leadership skills, are used worldwide. An academically strong school, King's has a reputation for adding value, with most students characteristically going on to university or college. The school has an outstanding gifted and talented program affording an academically selective school (enriched teaching and sound scholarship designed to realize academic potential), with the best features of a non-selective school (a balanced education and the capacity to improve a boy's academic standards). King's is in high demand because it offers academic excellence with character development. For example, a unique four-year training course in leadership is undertaken by Kingsmen in the Senior School. Crown Princes, leaders of political parties, authors, actors, leaders in law, medicine, and a wide range of other professions, have all been educated at King's. It is a school committed to the development of good character and those values that are consistent with a caring, Christian community. King's is a member of the 'Great Public Schools' (GPS) and is one of the leading sports and performing arts schools in the land, with many of its students going on to international prominence. A P-12 day and boarding school, King's combines the past's fine traditions with a modern and contemporary curriculum. The King's School is an extraordinary school that has been providing educational excellence since 1831. While it is right to say that King's is Australia's oldest independent school and enjoys a peaceful setting in the heart of Australia's largest city, it is our humanity that makes King's different. The King's School is renowned for its vibrant and supportive community, the values we celebrate, our commitment to realizing the potential of young men, and providing a balanced education that challenges each of our students to realize their full potential. The King's School offers boys from Pre-Kindergarten (4 years of age) through to Year 12. A Christian community, King's, is also proudly one of Australia's largest boarding schools with unique links to the rural sector, along with a very significant enrolment from the city as dayboys and weekly boarders. We thank you for taking the time to visit our website and invite you to experience The King's School for yourself. Morning tours run regularly throughout school terms and provide an excellent opportunity to meet our staff, hear about our exceptional learning programs and see how the facilities and resources of the school assist our students in their learning journey. No institution has its genesis in a vacuum, and The King's School is no exception. William Grant Broughton arrived in the Colony in 1829. After surveying his clergy, he concluded that New South Wales needed grammar schools of superior quality offering classical, mathematical and general studies, possibly similar to the education he received during his time at Cambridge. His Plan for the Establishment and Regulation of The King's School in New South Wales was placed before Governor Darling in 1830 and despatched to England. His Majesty's Government approved the creation of two Schools, one in Sydney, which was to be short-lived, the other at Parramatta, the despatch arriving in March 1831, the foundation date for the school. While the opening of The King's School on 13 February 1832 started somewhat inauspiciously with just three young boys in attendance, numbers quickly grew and by the end of the year, with numbers approaching a hundred, accommodation at the rented premises - now known as Harrisford in George Street Parramatta, was already stretched. Within three years, the school had moved to a new site supplied by the New South Wales government on the river banks. Here, the school had a chequered existence, with scarlet fever, a depressed economy, and fluctuating finances leading to a temporary closure in 1864 when a collapsing roof made the classrooms uninhabitable. Some students went to Macquarie Fields, where the Headmaster, Rev George Macarthur, once a pupil at The King's School, was destined to aid in its recovery. View full school

  25. At the heart of a King’s education is the dual pursuit of academic and co-curricular excellence. The wide-ranging interests, the intellectual ambition, and the development of self-discipline that such pursuits engender are highly prized in our modern global society. The quality of the teaching and the breadth of the activities outside the classroom mean that the lessons learned, and the skills acquired stay with our pupils for life. An essential feature of this process is how it does not matter if the passion is for sport, music, acting, or chess – to make a random selection of the plethora of opportunities for young people at King’s. We aim to anchor a 21st Century education within the illustrious history of the oldest school in the country, dating from 597 AD. The late Lord Pilkington, one of our most distinguished Headmasters, described a King’s education as resting on the simultaneous pursuit of academic and co-curricular excellence. Ethos Our philosophy behind the pursuit of academic excellence is that talented pupils are stretched but not stressed by enlightened and stimulating teaching. The Lower and Middle School curriculum combines a broad sweep of both the arts and the sciences which nurture a careful training of the mind. Our vibrant and intellectually exciting Sixth Form provides the ideal springboard for strong applications to Oxbridge, Russell Group, and other top UK and US universities. The King’s spirit gains its momentum and releases through the equal weight attached to co-curricular activities. King possesses the knack of developing individual passions that often become lifelong pursuits sporting, musical, and artistic opportunities abound for every pupil. The school is situated within the Precincts of Canterbury Cathedral in Kent, a World Heritage Site. The buildings are a mixture of old and new ranging from the 14th-century Meister Omers to the 21st-century New Grange. Such a setting, by its very nature, creates a close-knit and warm-hearted community that is spiritually aware, historically informed, and appreciative of aesthetic beauty. Excellent pastoral care means that adolescents can grow up in a secure and nurturing environment where individuals value the success of others as much as they enjoy their triumphs. The energy and the spirit of the pupils are a worthy match for the exceptional environment. The King’s learning experience is designed to encompass both depth and breadth. Built upon historic foundations and supported by the extensive co-curriculum and strong pastoral care, the developing individual is taken out into the wider world locally, nationally, and globally. Our focus remains, therefore, upon developing the individual in the fullest possible sense. In terms of academic development, this means focusing upon the quality of learning recognizing the needs of the time in which they live, and encouraging an enquiring mind that loves learning for learning’s sake. Education forever changes, and not just the examination curriculum. We are now in a digital world of instant and mobile connectivity, dominated by information and data. There are exciting opportunities for a new pedagogy. There are new and different challenges. Our task is to develop and deliver a curriculum in a way that is relevant to today’s teenagers but without jettisoning what we value so highly from the past. We are determined to retain the full variety of academic subjects, supported by our three core themes (researching, questioning, and communicating), and the ‘real learning that is essential in public exams and life. We broadly welcome the changes to A Levels and the opportunity to study subjects in more depth with less focus upon modular examinations. Our current wide-ranging IGCSE program (supported by some national GCSEs) is very good preparation for the Sixth Form and beyond.
