Kensington Primary School is based in Manor Park within the London Borough of Newham. We provide education for children from the ages of 3 to 11. From 1st September our school becomes part of The Tapscott Learning Trust. This is a trust-based partnership ensuring the best possible quality education for our children and meeting the needs of our local community. The school delivers the statutory content of the National Curriculum through a thematic approach to learning. To ensure the continuing relevance of the curriculum for our children, we review the content each half-term. We then adapt it as appropriate to guarantee a broad, balanced, high-quality curriculum for all our children. A skills-based approach is followed to ensure that the children progress in their learning as they move through the school. Our aim at Kensington Primary School is to ensure each child progresses to the best of their ability and that they enjoy their learning in a safe and positive environment. We believe children should learn to be confident, resilient, self-motivated individuals, who have a thirst for learning. Mutual respect and tolerance, good manners, the rule of law, liberty, and positive relationships are prioritized. We teach children, through the curriculum and our collective worship, of the importance of democracy and equality of opportunity for all. At Kensington, pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. As a school, we educate and provide boundaries for young pupils to make informed choices, through a safe environment and an empowering education. Pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and advised how to exercise these safely, for example through our eSafety and PSHE lessons. We hold yearly elections to appoint a house captain where all children have the right to vote. We also provide a restart/reflection room for pupils at lunchtime to reflect on their behavior based on the school’s Golden Rules and are supported by the pastoral officer. We also have a safeguarding policy, where children’s views are taken into account and appropriate action is taken following this. This is an integral aspect of life at Kensington Primary. We expect our learners to be respectful, confident, and positive individuals. We encourage every child to care about and have respect for, their learning, each other, and our environment. By being socially and emotionally intelligent, understanding about themselves and each other, our children will make the right choices and experience positive relationships now and in the future. Mutual respect is at the heart of our values. Children learn that their behaviors affect their rights and those of others. All members of the school community treat each other with respect. The first of our Golden Rules reads: I will be respectful and polite. As a school, we come together for collective worship four times a week and once a week has class assembly. Our whole school assembly follows themes, which are displayed in classrooms. We have a weekly newsletter, which features articles on care, citizenship, charity, pupil voice, celebration, festivals, safety (including e-safety), and personal development. Kensington is a diverse school. We actively promote diversity through our celebrations of different faiths and cultures. Religious Education lessons and PSHE reinforce messages of tolerance and respect for others. RE lessons follow the Newham Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education that educates pupils about all the main belief systems in the UK. Our multicultural pages on our website illustrate our commitment to exploring our diverse school community. Members of different faiths and religions are encouraged to share their knowledge to enhance learning within classes and the school. The children visit places of worship that are important to different faiths to learn about different religions, beliefs, and cultures. There is also daily collective worship. We teach children the values of their own opinions as well as those of others and demonstrate this through termly performance assemblies where classes present different faith celebrations to their peers, school staff, parents, and governors. At Kensington we are committed to supporting ethnic, cultural, religious, linguistic, social diversity, gender, and disability equality and will actively promote good community relationships and foster respect for all. A new independent school for boys and girls aged 11-18 in the heart of London. KPS is a fantastic addition to the central London independent school scene – a new 11 to 18 co-educational school with boarding we firmly believe we offer something different and exciting to discerning young learners and their parents. While our Sixth Form, located opposite the Natural History Museum in South Kensington, opened in September 2017, the Lower School (ages 11-16), which is just around the corner from both Queensway and Bayswater tube stops, opened its doors to pupils in September 2018. Also, we have quite possibly the best boarding facilities in London and can provide accommodation to pupils from year 10 upwards. It is important to note, however, that we see ourselves very much as a London school for London families. We are a small, friendly school and we want you to be part of our extended family. While many of our teachers have taught at some of the oldest and most traditional schools in the country – St Paul’s School, St Paul’s Girls’ School, Dulwich College, City of London School for Girls, Winchester College to name but a few - our outlook on education is modern and dynamic. We have put together a 21st-century curriculum to meet the needs of our students as they grow and develop, and as they prepare themselves for the fast-paced and ever-changing world around us. While we offer a traditional range of subjects leading to GCSEs and A-levels, we also offer Mandarin from year 7, and computer science which we have positioned as fourth science alongside chemistry, biology, and physics. Just as important as the taught curriculum, however, are the holistic lessons our students learn from working collaboratively across subject areas to achieve shared goals. In the Creative Hub, which centers on our recently refurbished theatre, you will find students in the art studio designing and making costumes using our sewing machines in the Mezzanine - our tech room - there will be students composing and producing digital music or managing our theatre light and sound system while in the Theatre itself, students will be rehearsing drama and musical productions which they may well have written themselves. All the while you may just find students making props for the play on our laser printer! Dovetailing nicely with our 21st-century curriculum is our innovative and exciting co-curricular provision. As well as offering high-quality music and drama and a wide range of clubs aimed at sparking enquiring young minds, KPS has entered into partnerships with numerous local sports providers. We can offer our students access to sports ranging from netball, football, swimming, and tennis to rowing, rock climbing, horse riding, and even ice hockey! The building is located in the center of London in Holborn, referred to as "midtown," enabling students to live or work anywhere in and around London and still be able to access the College. Our physical location partly accounts for the College's longstanding ties with the corporate and professional sectors to which it has provided training and consultancy services. Access to online resources, including the online library of the University of Wales, which is one of the most comprehensive in the UK, is available to KCB students. There is a well-sourced Referencing Library within KCB's Campus. It provides access to all of the core textbooks and additional reading materials for all of the Modules of the different courses taught at KCB. Canteen facilities offering Hot and Cold Food with subsidized prices are available within the Campus (allowing students to save on costs of eating out in Central London).
