Founded in 1918, Ivanovo State University of Chemistry and Technology today is a respected polytechnic school training engineers for various industrial facilities in the region and abroad. With truly outstanding teaching quality and superb facilities, the University ensures students’ academic excellence at the international level. We graduate specialists in a wide range of academic pathways – from technology, economy, and management to social work, humanities, and natural sciences. Meanwhile, we are 5th in research and publishing performance ranking among 153 Russian technical universities (according to the Higher School of Economics National Research University and RIA Novosti). ICT education quality management system meets ISO standards. Our University handles international students since the early 1950th due to either intergovernmental agreements or direct contracts. About 150 international students and Ph.D. applicants from 18 countries study here today. We awarded diplomas to over 700 Bachelors and Masters from Eastern Europe, Latin America, Southeastern Asia, and Africa. Forty of them have followed postgraduate programs and have defended their Ph.D. Theses. Our foreign graduates are now engaged as chief executives in major companies and plants, research, and training centers overseas. Ivanovo University is traditionally committed to such critical concepts as racial tolerance and internationalism. This promotes a favorable corporate environment on the campus and long-standing links with our alumni. Our University was entitled to issue Diploma Supplements, a European-type attachment to a diploma. The Diploma Supplement indicates our school’s degree recognition by the European Union. Discussions on establishing Double Degrees programs are currently underway with foreign partner universities. We extensively develop scientific and educational cooperation with Chinese universities. Students and graduates from China pursue training programs in our University while our academics do their research and give lectures in leading Chinese universities. ISUCT established the Center of Chinese Language, and Culture attended by our students and staff and students from other Ivanovo universities. Our University offers Russian language courses regularly. Every day we work to make significant improvements to the Russian language learning process. With it in mind, we undertake international seminar schools to discuss pressing problems in Russian language and general speech standards. These seminars are attended by scientists from Belarus, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Serbia, and others. Ivanovo State Medical Academy has been training international students since 1991. This time, 247 foreign citizens were awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine, M.D. in specialties “General Medicine” and “Pediatrics” one of them (a Nepalese graduate, Dr. KRISHNA BHANDARI) was awarded the M.D. Diploma with honor 22 foreign alumnae maintained their Ph.D. dissertations. Now more than 150 international students from 28 countries: Angola, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Yemen, Jordan, Iraq, Cameroon, Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Mongolia, Nepal, Palestine, Romania, Syria, Somali, Sudan, and some states of the CIS and former USSR republics are trained at the ISMA. Most of the ISMA alumnae works in large hospitals in Europe, Asia, Africa, and America. Academy’s buildings and clinics, including a virtual library with a media library, are provided with up-to-date equipment. All international students are provided with places at the hostel of blocked type with all conveniences. Also, they are obliged to be health insurance policyholders in need. They may be examined and treated in the Academy’s clinic. Mastering of clinical disciplines and practical training are realized in full in native medicinal and preventive treatment facilities. Regional and municipal medicinal and preventive treatment facilities are clinical bases of the Academy. Ivanovo State Medical Academy is situated in Ivanovo, which is 4-5 hours by bus or trains away from Moscow - the capital of Russia (335 km). Ivanovo is often called a student’s city, and it is not surprising. There are active 18 universities and their branches: Medical Academy, Agricultural Academy, State University, University of Chemistry and Technology, Power University, Polytechnic University, as well as Fire and Rescue Academy of the State Fire Service of EMERCOM of Russia. Ivanovo Power Engineering Institute was founded based on Ivanovo-Voznesensk Polytechnic Institute in 1930. In 1938 by the USSR Supreme Soviet Presidium decree, IPEI was named after V. I. Lenin. In 1992 it was conferred the status of a university. Today ISPU holds one of the leading positions in the region in terms of quality of Education, research, learning facilities, and equipment. Overall students staff totals about 7 000 people. Four hundred fifty professors and lecturers, including 57 Doctors and 279 Candidates of Engineering, Science, Economics, and Education, work for the faculties and research centers. ISPU offers training of specialists, Bachelors and Masters in 44 areas of Education in full-time and extramural forms of instruction. Also, the university offers postgraduate study in 29 specialties and doctorate study in 6 specialties. ISPU offers international students full-time and extramural Education on undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels. The university includes the following faculties: Heat Engineering Faculty, Electromechanics Faculty, Electrical Power Engineering Faculty, IT and Computer Science Faculty, Economics and Management Faculty, Extra Mural Faculty, Faculty of Foreign Students, and Teachers Professional Development Faculty. There are ten large scientific schools, 14 centers dealing with Education, research, development, and implementation. ISPU scientific achievements have been awarded at the international exhibitions in London, Paris, Hannover, at the world-famous Brussels International Exhibitions of Innovation, and the Geneva Salon of Inventions. ISPU has the best scientific and technical library in the Ivanovo region. All library operations from the book order to its delivery to the reader are automated. It is a member of the Russian Library Association and a member of two library consortiums – RusLANet and ABRICON. ISPU develops international cooperation with higher educational institutions in France, Germany, the USA, the UK, Israel, Hungary, Poland, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, and Tajikistan, which implies joint research work, exchange of professors and students, participation in conferences, seminars, and exhibitions. ISPU is a partner of the European EU4M-Consortium (a two-year European Union Master’s Course in Mechatronic and Micro-mechatronic Systems). In 2005 with the assistance of the French Embassy Russian-French Resource Center was established. You can get information about grants, scholarships, in-company training, study in France, and take English, French, and German language courses. Students, faculty, and staff have all the conditions to maintain a healthy lifestyle: Health Center, which offers preventive medical examinations and treatment, a sport and health camp on Rubskoye Lake where students and teachers can recreate, university stadiums gyms to practice 19 kinds of sport. ISPU students take part in national and international competitions and demonstrate outstanding results. Artistically creative students can develop their talents in the theatre of various miniatures, music bands, dance groups, and Student Television Studio.
