About Me

  1. The world is changing—fast. The globe is shrinking and becoming more complicated. How can today’s students prepare, not only to embrace the world of the future but to lead? Learn about the International School of Indiana and our approach to teaching global citizens. We believe they need an international outlook, the highest academic standards, and opportunities for boundless exploration, creativity, and collaboration. We are the International School of Indiana (ISI)—and we are the only school of our kind in the Midwest (and in the rare company worldwide). ISI offers an experience students will not find anywhere else: immersive bilingual learning so they can bridge the distance between nations and cultures international relationships and travel opportunities to help them grow as confident global citizens and the full range of International Baccalaureate (IB) programs, from preschool through diploma, so they can reach their full academic potential across all subject areas. Although we offer a complete pre-college education—from three years old to grade 12—we accept incoming students at any stage of the educational process and work hard to acclimate them to the IB curriculum and the language immersion process. Learn about the International School of Indiana and how your student will succeed in our IB for ALL. We hope you will take a much closer look and learn about the International School of Indiana and how we are the leaders in International Baccalaureate education. Could you explore our website? Schedule a tour or attend an open house. We think you will see what generations of students and parents already know: the International School of Indiana is the premier school in the Midwest when preparing students for the world we have not yet imagined. The world our next class of students will graduate into is the one they will help to build. At the heart of ISI’s mission and values is the core belief that a fully integrated IB Programme is the best opportunity for students to prepare for effective global citizenship in the rapidly changing world. ISI is a supportive, diverse environment that encourages high academic and personal achievement, emphasizing the core values of respect, effort, and responsibility. The mission of the International School of Indiana is to provide our students with a world-class education that prepares them to be responsible citizens and influential leaders in a rapidly globalizing and interdependent world. ISI students will be: Lifelong learners Balanced Critical thinkers and creative problem solvers Able to apply knowledge across disciplines to address complex issues Effective communicators in multiple languages Able to collaborate with others across linguistic and cultural boundaries Individuals who value differences Concerned for the wellbeing of others Thoughtful stewards of the Earth’s resources The International School of Indiana offers world-class academics in the friendly, close-knit setting of a small Indiana private school. Our approach is working: ISI High School is one of the Washington Post’s top high schools in the nation. Both our graduation and our college attendance rates are 100%. Our students graduate as bilingual – even trilingual – speakers. And they do not just go to college. They excel there. As one of the top IB schools in the nation – and the only school in Indiana offering the full range of IB programming – the International School of Indiana encourages critical thinking, creativity, self-motivation, and openness to new cultures and ideas. It is a combination that you do not see at most schools. Indeed we are one of the few schools in the Midwest to have made this level of commitment to excellence. We offer language immersion classes in Spanish, French, and Mandarin to even our youngest students. And we continue the emphasis on language and international experience with our upper school students. These are just some of the unique opportunities ISI offers to help our students grow into confident, bilingual – even trilingual – community-minded world citizens. 2. At Marian University, our vision is to provide an education that profoundly transforms lives, society, and the world. Our mission is to be a Catholic university dedicated to excellent teaching and learning in the Franciscan and liberal arts traditions. We welcome students of all faiths who seek an educational experience framed within the context of our Franciscan values of dignity of the individual, peace, and justice, reconciliation, and responsible stewardship. Our understanding of these values is informed by reflection on the life of Jesus Christ and prayer. Marian University grew out of the dedication and vision of Sister Theresa Hackelmeier and the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, who established a school in Oldenburg, Indiana, in 1851. The college was founded in Oldenburg in 1936 and moved to Indianapolis in 1937. On July 1, 2009, Marian College became Marian University. On October 19, 2012, the university will celebrate its 75th anniversary in Indianapolis.
  3. Indiana Wesleyan University is a Christ-centered academic community committed to changing the world by developing students in character, scholarship, and leadership. Indiana Wesleyan University is a truly great Christian university serving the world. The primary value for Indiana Wesleyan University is Christlikeness. The challenge to follow Christ compels us to pursue a personal and professional lifestyle of Commitment, Leadership, Service, Stewardship, Innovation, and Diversity. Indiana Wesleyan University is a comprehensive Christian university of The Wesleyan Church. Nearly 3,000 students are enrolled in traditional programs on the University's 350-acre residential campus in Marion. Most buildings on the Marion campus have been built in the past 25 years, so students live and learn in a visually striking environment with well-appointed residence halls and academic facilities, all on a campus that is only an hour away from both Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. IWU offers more than 80 undergraduate degrees, 38 graduate degrees, and five doctorate degrees, and students represent more than 80 Christian denominations and ten foreign countries. Indiana Wesleyan has received national attention for its innovative adult education program, which began in 1985. The 111,250 square foot health sciences building provides students with expanded state-of-the-art teaching laboratories, research laboratories, and student interaction areas. IWU's spiritually rich learning environment, academic commitment, and caring instruction develop students' knowledge, skills, and disposition to change the world for Jesus Christ. All academic programs, undergraduate and graduate, reside in one of the other five Principal Academic Units, so the Graduate School does not have its programs. Instead, the School provides oversight of all graduate education at IWU by establishing policies and standards for graduate education, through strategic planning for graduate education, and through the support of teaching, learning, and scholarship for graduate faculty and graduate students. Through both triumph and testing, you will be forged into what the Creator intended you to be. Here you can live and grow in a microcosm of the body of Christ and build academic excellence on a foundation of scriptural truth. You will create mentoring relationships with professors and lifelong relationships with peers. Life at IWU goes beyond getting an education. After many years of offering courses at separate locations in Fort Wayne, Indiana University and Purdue University opened the combined campus of IPFW in 1964. The 1970s were a time of rapid growth, accompanied by the campus administration's formal merger in 1975. A regional campus of both Indiana University and Purdue University, IPFW is managed by Purdue University under a management agreement that is renewed every five years. In the 1980s, an academic structure was created to emphasize relationships among departments rather than departments' relationships to Indiana or Purdue mission assignments. Major facilities opened during the early 1990s included the Visual Arts Building, Williams Theatre, and the Engineering, Technology, and Computer Science Building. A new campus facilities master plan was completed in 1995, and IPFW's first Strategic Plan was completed that same year. The Science Building opened in 1998. IPFW proactively grew its facilities to handle students' swelling ranks, which totaled over 10,500 by 2000. The Crescent Avenue Bridge, dedicated in fall 2003, connected the main campus to the new Waterfield Campus across Crescent Avenue. Student Housing on the Waterfield Campus opened in fall 2004, giving students their first opportunity to live and learn at IPFW. Student Housing expanded when two more buildings opened in fall 2007. The John and Ruth Rhinehart Music Center opened in fall 2007. The Holiday Inn at IPFW and the Coliseum joined the campus family in 2008. IPFW's newest additions include the Ron Venderly Family Bridge (2009), and the Medical Education Building (2009). Phase 3 of Student Housing, which added four more buildings with new floor plans tailored to student requests and a new clubhouse building, opened in 2010. Work is currently underway on the Keith Busse Steel Dynamics Alumni Center (projected completion in 2010) and the Student Services Complex (projected completion in 2011). The campus set a new enrollment record in 2010-2011 of 14,192 total students.
  6. Indiana Tech was founded as a small engineering college for men in 1930. It has transformed over the years into a comprehensive university with a wide range of academic programs for men and women of all ages. The original building in Fort Wayne was outgrown long ago, and classes are now offered at campuses throughout Indiana and Kentucky with additional worldwide attendance through online programs. What follows are highlights and milestones for each decade. Indiana Tech provides learners a professional education that prepares them for active participation, career advancement, and leadership in the global 21st-century society and motivates them toward a life of significance and worth. If you are graduating from high school soon and are applying to college for the first time, let us show you the Indiana Tech difference. If your current college is not a good fit or looking for more out of a college, let us show you how we can be a good fit. Attending college in another country can be a challenging experience. At Indiana Tech, you will feel like this is your second home. Affording a college education does not have to be out-of-reach. There are several ways to make an Indiana Tech education affordable. There are dozens of scholarships available to help you pay for college. If you are an international student, you can learn more about our International Scholarship. Private scholarships are also available, with new ones becoming available often. Indiana Tech values community leaders and would like to recognize students who exhibit leadership potential while demonstrating the university's core values. The Presidential Scholarship will recognize students for their achievements and encourage them to grow their leadership abilities. This is a full-tuition scholarship. It is renewable for up to a total of eight semesters to help you achieve your first baccalaureate degree. Ideal candidates will show concrete examples of how they have led within their communities. Candidates should have an attitude of continuous improvement and seek to improve their leadership abilities while helping others. To encourage this, the university will require this scholarship to complete annual leadership projects within the campus or local community. In selecting recipients of the Presidential Scholarship, preference may be given to candidates who have established contributions within the Fort Wayne community, especially within the East Central neighborhood. Indiana Tech is offering a new scholarship opportunity that expands the reach of its Northeast Indiana Regional Scholarship, which was implemented late in 2015. Along with the new Indiana Tech Regional Scholarship, it is for day students (students taking traditional semester-long courses on campus in Fort Wayne.) Regardless of your background, rest assured Indiana Tech fosters a diverse, friendly, and safe learning environment committed to your development. The Career Center provides several resources to our students to prepare for and land their ideal job. Each Indiana Tech student is assigned a faculty advisor to help with choices about curriculum and coursework. The advisors are full-time faculty members and are specially equipped to discuss various academic issues. Advisors are selected based on the specific academic needs of your area of study. Once your advisor is assigned, you will receive his or her phone number and email address so that you can contact him or her at your convenience. The Office of Student Success encompasses a wide range of programs and services to support your academic endeavors. We provide academic coaching, tutoring, services for students with disabilities, veteran affairs, and understanding staff to help you over the bumps on the collegiate road. Your Indiana Tech education is not confined within our classrooms. Your coursework is just a foundation for you to build on with experiences you choose to feed your passions, satisfy your curiosity, and develop your talents. Through professional organizations, honor societies, scholarly competitions, and study trips, you will graduate with an impressive résumé, not just a diploma. Student organizations are one of the primary areas of connection and leadership development on campus. Through these organizations, students can connect with others who have similar interests. Joining an organization is an excellent way for new students to meet and know returning students, faculty, and staff. As members become more involved in their organizations, they will have the opportunity to grow into leadership positions and begin meeting other organizational leaders across campus to find unique ways their organizations can help each other grow. Andorfer Commons is an integral meeting place for campus life. From the 210-seat movie theater to the decked-out Recreation Center, there are many places to meet with friends and faculty or staff. It hosts many student organization meetings and events and serves as a home for many departments that strive to help students be more successful at everything they do. The Student Affairs Suite is the point of contact for student programming and events, student organizations, intramurals, housing, and much more.

Also, SGA serves to ensure a positive campus environment and provide for the expression of student opinion.SGA membership consists of representatives from each school. Historians don't collect facts. They analyze them to understand how different viewpoints (such as Democrat and Republican) arise, how the processes of change (like the collapse of the Soviet Union) work, and how to use the information to solve problems. In history classes at IU East, you learn about these differences and processes. You learn how to locate, evaluate, and use the information necessary to explain to them. And you practice the techniques of critical thinking and clear communication necessary to persuade others to consider your interpretation. These techniques — finding useful, reliable information, analyzing it, and then using it to solve problems — are career skills that are much in demand by employers. They are often the ticket to promotion on the job. And what could be more fun than developing them through the study of the United States, European, and World history through the ages! You can take courses in all of these areas. You can also earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities with a Concentration in History, a Minor in History, or a Minor in International Studies. Contact your advisor or a member of the history faculty for further information.

  10. Founded in 1875, IUP is a vibrant, comprehensive, research-based, teaching-focused, student-centered learning community. IUP combines a large university's academic opportunities with the highly personalized and intimate learning-centered environment of a small college. More than 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled in our accredited and nationally recognized programs, enjoying traditional and nontraditional classroom experiences, engaging in research and service activities with their faculty mentors, becoming lifelong learners, preparing for rewarding careers and productive lives, and developing leadership skills for effective citizenship. Located in the heart of Indiana, Pennsylvania, IUP's main campus has grown from 12 acres and one building in 1875 to 354 acres and 65 significant buildings. The IUP Student Cooperative Association owns and operates the Hadley complex adjacent to the main campus and owns and maintains a 280-acre outdoor recreational park a short distance away. Not only does IUP offer an abundance of undergraduate and master's programs, but it is the only university in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education to offer Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Degrees are offered from the broader, more traditional (philosophy, anthropology) to the career-specific (safety sciences, respiratory therapy). Students benefit from the leadership, professional, service, and social opportunities offered by more than 250 exciting student organizations, including 32 fraternities and sororities. The Indiana University of Pennsylvania is a community where teaching, research, and service empower students to become innovative leaders while enhancing communities throughout the world. Remaining loyal to its traditions, IUP assesses society's needs and opportunities and meets them. Students are hardworking, ready to learn and come from diverse cultures, places, and backgrounds. Energetic, dedicated, and diverse staff and faculty members welcome them to a personal, vibrant college home. Students participate in many intentional and interconnected learning experiences in their studies, in their lives, and the world. Professors are active scholars and teachers in their disciplines who work together to expand their impact. They engage students in carefully designed open-ended, hands-on experiences to reinforce and enrich what students learn in the classroom. Professors use technology to enhance student learning and augment the face-to-face and peer-learning experiences that are the foundation of an excellent education. Alumni say their student experience was the best preparation for work and life. They continue to find joy in the bonds they built as students and the new connections they make with faculty and staff members, students, and other alumni. They are proud, and they choose to invest in IUP's future. IUP and the communities it serves work together to build a healthy society and a robust economy. IUP uses partnerships and activities to connect community members, students, faculty and staff members, and alumni, building a commitment to their shared future. The Indiana University of Pennsylvania is a leading public, doctoral/research university, firmly committed to undergraduate and graduate instruction, scholarship, and public service. The Indiana University of Pennsylvania engages students as learners and leaders in an intellectually challenging, culturally enriched, and contemporarily diverse environment. Inspired by a dedicated faculty and staff, students become productive national and world citizens who exceed expectations personally and professionally. A variety of business and industry services, the community, government and human service agencies, educators, and more are available through our centers and institutes. What makes the IUP experience stand out is this: At mega-universities, students might catch a glimpse of the professor too busy researching to be in the classroom; he or she passes the class off to the graduate assistant. Not at IUP, where the professors who conduct critical research also teach the classes. Often, those same faculty members will share research opportunities with graduate and undergraduate students alike. At IUP, students find a variety of academic programs and resources for the taking. Choose a traditional course of study, such as philosophy, English, or anthropology, or concentrate on a career-oriented, applied majors, such as safety sciences or respiratory care. Whatever your major, you can expand your horizons and your career options by pursuing internships and study-abroad opportunities, or you can complement your academic experience by participating in opportunities such as the Undergraduate Scholars Forum. And, there is help when you need it. Many students take advantage of the Learning Enhancement Center, the Writing Center, the Career and Professional Development Center, and other resources that help them reach their goals and become what they aspire to be. Founded more than 140 years ago, Indiana University of Pennsylvania has grown from a school with 225 students. One building to a world-renowned university spread over 374 acres, with almost 15,000 students studying more than 130 programs. It was known as Indiana Normal School when it was founded in 1875. The one building everything was initially housed in, John Sutton Hall, still stands today as the IUP campus's heart, and it is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education was created in 1983. IUP has consistently ranked as one of its largest schools, and it was the first of its universities to offer doctoral degrees. It is still the only school in the State System to offer graduate instruction at the doctoral level (Ph.D.).

The history of IU Southeast goes back to before 1941 when we were a branch campus of Indiana University located in Jeffersonville. Our story goes back to elite British soldiers of the 17th century… the Grenadiers. After decades of wishing and hoping (and students lobbying), the Trustees approved Residence Halls—with room to house up to 10% of our student population (a little more than 600 students). The ground was broken in June 2007. In August 2008, nearly 400 students moved into five brand new lodges. They became the very first students in IU Southeast history to live on campus. They also selected animal mascots for each of the lodges and established new traditions. The second phase of construction will make room for an additional 200+ students.

(SIHE) raised nearly $1 million to acquire 1,400 acres for the Mid-America University Center. Groundbreaking was held on June 22, 1968. Since September 1969, the University has occupied 330 acres, mostly donated by SITE. On April 16, 1985, legislation was signed, which made USI a separate state university. All legal matters were useful on July 1, 1985. On June 30, 2008, SIHE transferred over 900 acres of land and remaining assets to the USI Foundation. There are four academic colleges within the University's structure: Romain College of Business, College of Liberal Arts, College of Nursing and Health Professions, and Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education. Students also are served through Outreach and Engagement and University Division. Also, USI houses the Indiana University School of Medicine-Evansville. The University of Southern Indiana is one of five state universities in Indiana conferring baccalaureate and higher degrees.

View full university

Designed for students who want to get the most out of their college education, the Purdue University Fort Wayne Honors Program is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program open to students of any major. View full university

View full university
