  1. Welcome to our School. Childwall Sports and Science Academy has a mission statement of “Learning without Limits”. This means that we seek to achieve the best possible outcomes for every student within a safe and supportive environment. Our Academy provides high-quality teaching and stimulating learning experiences designed to appeal to students of all ability levels. We encourage every member of our Academy community to focus on lifelong learning - developing the academic and social skills they will need to become responsible adults and caring, confident citizens of the future. We ASPIRE to be the most vibrant, creative, and successful school that we can be. We will constantly promote a culture of high achievement and believe all will succeed through perseverance. We will develop and nurture happy, hardworking, and respectful learners who see for themselves lives of limitless potential. Core Values = Aspire and Praise: We Aim High We Succeed together We Persevere and never give up We Inspire We Respect our school and everyone We Enjoy learning SMSC stands for spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development. At Childwall Sports and Science Academy School we teach these qualities across the curriculum and throughout school life. It is linked closely to our school values and ethos. Childwall Sports and Science Academy provides a broad, balanced, and relevant curriculum to meet the needs of all our learners. The curriculum is reviewed annually to ensure it is engaging and challenging for all students. Subjects are divided into different pathways offering academic and vocational choices for students. The curriculum is developed in partnership with learners and parents and each student is assessed individually. All courses lead to further education in the Sixth Form or to employment and training. KEY STAGE 3 - In the first three years we introduce students to each aspect of the curriculum to facilitate effective choices later on. We encourage each student to achieve their full potential through an aspirational culture and stretch and challenge both in and out of the classroom. Progress is closely monitored by regular assessments and this data is shared with parents and carers at least four times a year. Besides, there is a Performance Review Evening for every year group once a year where parents, carers, and their children meet with subject teachers and senior staff. The curriculum content develops personal, learning, and thinking skills, as well as subject knowledge. All students follow the National Curriculum through Key Stages 3 and 4. In Year 7 most lessons are taught in the form of group or smaller mixed-ability classes. Classes are arranged by ability in Year 7 in Mathematics, English, Science, and Humanities. There is an extensive choice of GCSE and BTEC courses available at Key Stage 4 through 3 different pathways. Students are guided onto the pathway that is most suitable for them. The English-Baccalaureate Pathway offers a range of academic GCSE courses for our more able students. The other pathway is offered to the majority of our students and offers the widest range of choice from GCSE subjects and BTEC courses. Both of these pathways allow students to study the combination of subjects that allows them to gain the English Baccalaureate. We celebrate diversity amongst our students and our team of key stage 5 specialist staff seeks to nurture each individual and are passionate about our youngsters. As one of the biggest sixth forms in Liverpool, we offer several courses which allow for a wide range of subject combinations which are designed to meet the needs, talents, and interests of all of our students. At Childwall Sports and Science Academy Sixth Form, we offer you a stimulating post 16 experience, with access to a wide range of activities including sport, visits, work experience, and enterprise. We encourage our students to thrive in a happy, safe and supportive environment, where they can develop the skills and confidence which will serve them throughout their lives. Above all, we offer unprecedented advice and support on higher education and career options to ensure students leave us with the skills and qualifications to succeed in the competitive 21st century. Childwall Sports & Science Academy recognizes the real educational and business benefits of having a diverse community of staff and students who value one another and the different contributions they can make to achieving the school’s commitment to be open and accessible.
  2. Welcome to At Childwall Abbey School. We are very proud to announce that Childwall Abbey School has achieved the Artsmark Gold Award. This recognizes the value we place on giving our school community opportunities to access and enjoy as many cultural experiences as possible. These include many visits outside school, to museums, art galleries, and concert halls, as well as enabling our pupils to develop their performance skills, interests, and appreciation of the value of art in all its forms in our society through our curriculum. Liverpool is a culturally rich city and we are proud to live and learn in such a vibrant place. At Childwall Abbey School we cover the National Curriculum core subjects. To ensure we meet the needs of all our youngest children we provide a pastoral approach to teaching and learning. For at least 50% of the week pupils in Years 6, 7, and 8 remain with their form tutors for ‘core’ lessons such as English and mathematics (which begin every day). This ensures rapid and successful transition into the school, providing stability and consistency whilst the children familiarise themselves with our staff and expectations. Years 6, 7, and 8 participate in projects which incorporate several subjects – such as geography, history, religious education, art, technology (design and food), science, modern foreign language, and computer skills. Students are taught by subject specialists from within a small staff team (mainly Year 6, Year 7 & Year 8 pastoral teachers), who become familiar to the children very rapidly. All classes are supported by a Learning Support Officer, who stays with them in all lessons. Childwall Abbey School Sixth Form provides learners with the knowledge, understanding, skills, and real-life experiences to grow into self-reliant, well-rounded, and independent young adults who are aware of how to keep themselves safe. The sixth form staff provides opportunities for students to develop self-confidence, academic achievement, and personal independence. All sixth form students continue to study skills in English, Maths, and Computing. These subjects allow students to develop their Literacy, Numeracy, and Computing skills in a real-life context and provide students with the opportunity to maintain continuity and progression throughout their school life. The students can access BTEC, GCSE, Entry Level, Functional Skills, and Entry Pathways qualifications which are all recognized by colleges and employers, providing students with a greater range of options and opportunities. All the activities and coursework, undertaken in sixth-form, count towards nationally recognized ASDAN qualifications and certificates, including C.o. P.E. (Certificate of Personal Effectiveness) A.o. P.E. (Award of Personal Effectiveness) optional short courses including Peer Teaching, Volunteering and Leadership Skills. Students complete challenges that help them become more independent and employable. These units provide a platform for further planning of individual learning goals and personal assessment. The units consist of working with others to improve learning and performance problem-solving planning and carrying out research communication through discussion planning and giving an oral presentation. Numerous student choice short courses are also offered. Students get the opportunity to explore different issues and themes through the work of other artists and designers. The process allows students to become independent thinkers, to be more aware of their culture and environment and those around them. Students are encouraged to make decisions and work through problems finding their own, individual reactions and responses. The curriculum is diverse to allow free expression and access to all students regardless of ability. Working in groups, pairs, as a whole class and independently, students can develop their social skills. At Childwall Abbey School, we place great emphasis upon enjoyment and physical use of musical instruments within our Music lessons. Underpinned by basic musical theory and instrument knowledge, we endeavor to engage learners through accessible aspects of music – playing instruments. We use a modified National Curriculum to meet the personalized needs of our pupils. We are integrating the revised National Curriculum for Music. Childwall Abbey School Physical Education Department takes great strides to create a calm and working environment for every pupil and always endeavors to create lasting friendships amongst its pupils. Our pupils focus on a wide range of skills and activities, inspired by the Stepping Stones and ASDAN schemes. The activities can be used towards an ASDAN certificate of accreditation which offers progression into follow-on programs leading to national qualifications. We aim to make our lessons active, stimulating and topical, and ensure that teachers have specialist knowledge and skills to teach PSHCE education successfully.

At CVP we follow a creative and thematic curriculum. Computing and new technologies are used imaginatively across all areas of the curriculum to enhance learning and teaching. Learning outside of school hours is promoted through our Learning Platform and an increasing array of cloud-based software. Our principle phonics schemes are Letters and Sounds, Floppy Phonics (Oxford Reading Tree), and Phonics Bug. Phonics Bug has an online element that can also be accessed from home. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness and gives children a broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life. The EYFS seeks to provide: Quality and consistency A secure foundation Partnership working Equality of opportunity Seven areas of learning and development must shape educational programs in early years settings. All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected. Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships, and thrive. These three areas, the prime areas, and four specific areas are: Communication and language Physical development Personal, social, and emotional development Literacy Mathematics Understanding the world Expressive arts and design Each area of learning and development must be implemented through planned, purposeful play and a mix of adult-led and child-initiated activity. Play is essential for children’s development, building their confidence as they learn to explore, think about problems, and relate to others. Children learn by leading their play, and by taking part in play which is guided by adults. View full school

  5. Welcome to our school. Our children thrive within a culture of high expectation of progress and attainment for every pupil, according to their potential. But, equally important to us is the growth of our children into caring, respectful individuals who embody our core Christian Values of Friendship, Forgiveness, Compassion, and Thankfulness. We believe that it is this combination of academic and spiritual development that truly encompasses our school vision, "to achieve the highest pupil outcomes for every child" and which leads to our school being such a happy and safe learning environment for our children to develop and grow in. We fully believe that all children, without exception and exclusion, are loved by God and should feel safe and valued within our school community. We are very proud of our school's special place in Liverpool's history. We constantly seek innovative, positive ways to ensure that our children share inclusive, high-quality, enjoyable learning experiences that prepare and enable them to become confident, caring members of society. Our mission statement: “And the child grew and became strong He was full of wisdom and God’s blessings were upon Him.” At Childwall Church of England Primary School we uphold and teach pupils about British Values which are defined as: Democracy Rule of law Individual liberty Mutual respect Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs These values are taught explicitly through Personal, Social, Health and Emotional (PSHE), and Religious Education (RE). We also teach British Values through planning and delivering a broad and balanced curriculum. We have achieved the following external accreditations which demonstrate evidence of our commitment to British Values. The school takes opportunities to actively promote British Values through daily collective worship and whole school systems and structures such as electing and running a successful School Council. We also actively promote British Values by ensuring that our curriculum planning and delivery includes real opportunities for exploring these values. The core Christian Values for our school, selected by the whole school community, are Friendship, Thankfulness, Compassion, and Forgiveness. Time is spent during Collective Worship and RE lessons focusing on these and other Christian Values, with consideration of how we can show them in our everyday lives and relationships with others. The school ensures children learn in a safe, caring, and enriching environment. Children are taught how to keep themselves safe, to develop positive and healthy relationships, how to avoid situations where they might be at risk including being exploited. The school follows legislation that aims to act in the interests of the child. The school will always seek to work in partnership with parents and other agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for the child and family. Our choir attended a concert at All Saints Church and sang alongside the Liverpool Phoenix Voices Choir in a concert to celebrate singing. A huge thank you to the children, their parents, and the staff who supported us on the night. View full school

Our choir attended a concert at All Saints Church and sang alongside the Liverpool Phoenix Voices Choir in a concert to celebrate singing. A huge thank you to the children, their parents, and the staff who supported us on the night.
