- At Southwood Primary School we strive for excellence in a happy, stimulating, supportive and caring community which enables each child to develop their talents and qualities of character to reach his or her potential and promote the highest standards of work and behavior. Our website aims to give you information about what is happening in school and help you support your child throughout their time at the school. At Southwood Primary School we recognize that all pupils are entitled to have access to a broad range of learning experiences that allow them to develop the knowledge, understanding, skills, and attitudes necessary for their self-fulfillment and to enable them to play a full part as responsible citizens in the 21st Century. Our curriculum aims to provide opportunities for all pupils to learn and to achieve, irrespective of social background, culture, race, gender, differences in ability, and disabilities. It is our aim at Southwood Primary School Nursery to ensure that every child develops a lively and enquiring mind, feels happy and secure, and fulfills his or her full potential in every aspect of personal development and the Early Years Curriculum. Children are allowed to select and choose activities for themselves whilst our enthusiastic adults give guidance and direction to allow and facilitate learning. The early stages of your child’s school career are carefully monitored and observed, this is then used to inform planning and ensure that all interests are developed as well as being documented through a series of photos and observations which are then put together in your child’s ‘Learning Journey’ to show their successes. We know that our approach to early education gives lasting benefits to all our children and it lays a secure foundation for the rest of their education. Our staff thoroughly enjoy seeing the children grow and watching them become inquisitive and independent learners which is something we hope continues throughout their education. A child or young person has SEN if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for him or her. At Southwood, we believe that every child deserves a fair start in life, with the very best opportunity to succeed. Teaching and Learning are at the heart of everything we do. We aim to ensure that every child has an entitlement to fulfill his/her optimum potential. High-quality teaching that is differentiated and personalized will meet the individual needs of the majority of pupils. Some pupils will need educational provision that is additional to or different from this. At Southwood, we ensure that such provision is made for those who need it. “High-quality teaching, differentiated for individual pupils, is the first step in responding to pupils who have or may have SEN”. Our key partners (staff, governors, parents/carers, and the local community) are committed to inspiring our future generations, so we achieve educational excellence and develop children’s talents and characters so everyone develops a thirst for knowledge and a love of learning, for life, and is proud to be part of our whole school community. We are committed to inclusion, believing that every child has the right to succeed, we take responsibility to ensure that barriers to learning are overcome and that all children succeed in realizing their potential to be the best they can be irrespective of their backgrounds or starting points. If your child attends childcare or learning at another setting or venue, before school or after school, this provider will likely need to be registered with Ofsted. This ensures that the service provided is safe and that the adults working with your children are appropriate for that role. If you need any help, the school is willing to help check the Ofsted status of any provider your child attends. For help with this, do not hesitate to contact a member of the safeguarding team via. the School Office. During the past year, the Governing Body has continued to work with the Headteacher to build and embed the leadership structure, particularly increasing middle leadership capacity. We have continued to support him in making staff appointments and developing the middle leadership structure, where we have seen some significant improvements over the past year. This has allowed the school to continue to improve the curriculum and to embed robust processes for assessment in line with the requirements of the new curriculum. The school has continued with a positive and forward-looking culture and continues to drive high standards. Our other key focus has been continuing to capitalize and embed the Primary Alliance for Collaborative Engagement (PACE) Ltd with other local schools. This partnership involves the sharing of expertise in teaching and learning and also brings financial benefits through negotiating contracts as a group of schools. We have continued to monitor and evaluate progress with priorities in the school’s action plan at Governing Body meetings. In doing so, we have considered key pupil data and agreed on ambitious targets. We have also received information from our local authority link advisor relating to local and national priorities and her visits to the school. Within Standards Committee meetings, data on the progress and attainment of groups of pupils, including vulnerable groups, are discussed in detail. We have continued to evaluate targeted interventions and the quality of teaching and learning is continuing to be a strong focus for us. View full school

- Southwold works in close partnership with two other Hackney schools in a Hard Federation arrangement. This means that we share the same vision and aspiration that children deserve the best and work closely together to develop our curriculum, teaching, and community values together. We share a single Governing body and work under the title Viridis Schools with our Executive Headteacher working to secure working partnerships across and beyond our three schools. We have full & part-time places in our well-equipped Nursery classes run by experienced, fully qualified teachers and Nursery Education Officers. We offer an outstanding provision for our children with well-resourced classrooms a warm friendly team of teachers and staff. Children can start Southwold Nursery in the school term following their third birthday. Coming to our nursery setting will allow your child to develop their social skills and begin to make new friends in a safe, educational, play-based setting which is run by qualified professionals. This is an important stage as it supports your child to develop and gain the skills needed for future learning including basic counting/number recognition, enjoyment of stories, phonics, social skills, and physical developmental play. Southwold Nursery is both part-time and full-time. We have 20 full-time and 12 part-time places available. If all the full-time places are not taken up, additional part-time places will be offered. If there are still vacancies remaining, parents with part-time places can ask to top up the part-time entitlement to a full-time place for which there will be a charge. All three schools achieve above national averages at the end of KS2 and have many examples of excellent practice which we happily share in partnership work with other schools outside of our organization. If you would like to visit or have a particular area of school development you would like to explore with us we would be happy to help, please contact the Executive Headteacher Stephen Hall in the first instance via any one of the school offices. The safety of our pupils at Southwold is of paramount importance to us. We believe in supporting parents to keep children safe in all aspects of their life, especially online. The best way to keep children safe online is to be armed with information so please use the links below to find out all you can to help protect your child at home when using the Internet. The school runs a range of sporting and educational after-school clubs run by professional coaches and mentors which are changed every term. We also run the Literacy and Maths Booster Club to support pupils in Year 6 in preparation for SATs. In addition to this, a child-care After School Club runs from 3:30 to 6:00 pm every day on-site for working parents. The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most. At Southwold Primary School we offer a curriculum that is broad and balanced to ensure every child reaches their full potential and has access to a range of educational experiences whatever their starting points or circumstance. The curriculum incorporates the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum 2014. Pupils at Southwold are provided with a clear progression of opportunity to engage with and be part of, a rich, varied, and comprehensive curriculum that reflects the interests of the school, its staff, pupils, parents, and the wider national and global communities. Although literacy and mathematics are planned for discreetly in weekly plans, many topic areas are relevant in these lessons, particularly through the choice of texts and writing outcomes in literacy. The whole school approaches to reading support quality teaching and learning. Specialist teachers support the teaching of music, Modern Foreign Languages, Physical Education, and the creative curriculum. Subject leaders are allowed to develop their subject knowledge, skills, and understanding so they can support curriculum development in the subjects they lead. Theme weeks, trips, and opportunities to engage in workshops within and outside school enrich and develop the children’s learning. The spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of our pupils and their understanding of the core values of our society are woven through the curriculum. We set high expectations for every pupil. We aim to stretch the ablest pupils by planning suitable and relevant learning challenges but also plan carefully for the needs of pupils who belong to vulnerable groups including ensuring that the needs of pupils with SEND are fully met. Developing independent, resilient, inspired and motivated life-long learners with a sense of responsibility as future citizens is at the heart of all of our teaching and learning. The school pays full regard to DfES guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ April 2014. We ensure that all appropriate measures are applied to everyone who works in the school who is likely to be perceived by the children as a safe and trustworthy adult including e.g. volunteers and staff employed by contractors. Safer recruitment practice includes scrutinizing applicants, verifying identity and academic or vocational qualifications, obtaining professional and character references, checking previous employment history, and ensuring that a candidate has the health and physical capacity for the job. It also includes undertaking interviews and, where appropriate, ISA and Criminal Records Bureau checks. View full school

- We are proud of our school and of the difference we make to the life and the future of our community. We aim to provide a stimulating, happy and caring atmosphere where our children can learn and develop. We want each child to achieve their potential and to grow as an individual. We have been a community school since 1872. We take pride in being a friendly, caring, and welcoming community. We believe very strongly that when children leave our school they should be confident, kind, and tolerant individuals who have achieved their full potential academically and retain a love of and excitement in learning. At Southwark Park, we aim to provide a rich, engaging curriculum for all children. We will continue to embed the new curriculum and strengthen the quality of provision this year, particularly around promoting British Values. We believe that learning is a lifelong process and should be a rewarding and enjoyable experience for everyone it should be fun. Through our teaching we equip children with the skills, knowledge, and understanding they need to be able to make informed choices about the important things in their lives. We aim to engage children in a stimulating, rewarding, and challenging environment with high-quality teaching through which to foster: Children who have a keen sense of their progress, take pride in achievement, and have a desire to succeed, seeing themselves as having limitless possibilities in their learning. Children who are literate and numerate Enquiring, active minds that are excited by learning and want to learn more each day. Attitudes to learning so that children enjoy a challenge, cope confidently with risk and failure, have the stamina and resilience to keep going, and see mistakes as something to learn from. Children who are independent and confident in their approach to learning, who persevere in their determination to be successful and make learning their own. Children who are flexible and able to support and cooperate with others, and understand the importance of nurturing good relationships. Imagination and creative expression through a wide range of media. Conscientious and responsible young citizens of our diverse society who are tolerant and respect others’ values. Effective links between the school, the child’s home, and the community encourage aspiration and high expectations. To start the year the children will start by telling us all about themselves, sharing the things they like to eat, their favorite colors, and books too. We will also be making portraits of ourselves and our families. We will also be reading about a very mischievous dog, who can’t help but make a mess! In Reception, we continue to teach the children through play. Following the Early Years curriculum, we can offer your children a broad spectrum of learning opportunities. In our classes, the children are encouraged to become independent learners and are provided with opportunities to grow and develop in confidence. We plan and implement highly engaging sessions, which inspire the children to become well-rounded motivated individuals. The children are then able to build upon their learning, by participating in a wide range of activities, including daily writing, reading, and maths exercises. We follow the CLPE Power of Reading scheme, which places high-quality books at the center of all learning. To create a sense of excitement, we do not tell the children the books that they are reading! This helps to create a highly immersive setting where the children are transported to the world of the books. We use the “Letters and Sounds” phonics program to deliver systematic phonics lessons with the aim that the children become fluent readers by age seven. The children are taught how to decode text by segmenting words into phonemes (the smallest units of sound) and then blending them into words. Children then use this knowledge to segment words when spelling. At Southwark Park, we embed a consistent whole-school approach which is supported by scheduled assessment, targeted interventions, and commitment to pace and rigor. We continue to ensure children use strategies and strengthen their spelling capability as they progress into KS2. Phonics is taught every day in Early Years and Key Stage 1 using the “Letters and Sounds” teaching program. Forest School is part of a holistic approach to learning which closely fits with our Early Years provision. Through physical, emotional, and intellectual experiences, the children are allowed to learn and develop within a woodland setting. The ethos of Forest School is based on a respect for children and their capacity to the initiative, investigate and maintain curiosity in the world around them. Children will learn and acquire important life skills that will support and enhance the learning taking place in the classroom. Children will also learn a great deal about the natural environment, what can be found there, its uses, and how it should be cared for. View full school

- At The Southover Partnership School, we offer full-time education placements for children with statements and Education and Health Care (EHC) plans. Our school is usually for 10-19-year-olds on the autistic spectrum, have ADHS PDA and other social, emotional, or mental health needs. Our learners come from diverse settings many have a history of disrupted and /or limited schooling. Students’ achievements when they arrive are often below national expectations. Regardless of this, we have very high expectations of pupils' progress academically and in their EHCP outcomes. Our work at Southover is underpinned by the principles of attachment theory. We are passionate about inspiring and empowering everyone in our community by: Embracing individuality Encouraging growth Striving for achievement for everyone, Providing a physically and emotionally safe and secure environment We follow a small school model because we believe it delivers the best outcomes for our students. We are a warm and truly inclusive school and welcome visits so you can experience firsthand our unique educational offering. At The Southover Partnership School, we aim to inspire and empower every young person to flourish. To achieve this we: Assess each child and family’s individual needs about education Build a personalized learning program for each child that re-engages them with education positively Work closely with families to build trust and confidence in pupils so that learning will flourish Set high (but manageable) expectations of work and behavior for our pupils Provide each student with a key worker to support and mentor their academic and social learning Provide small classes – usually 2 adults to 1 student or 3 adults to 2 students Provide flexibility to allow for students reconnecting with learning either on entry or in other periods when circumstances mean they are not on a Ready to Learn pathway. Offer external accreditation to pupils for further learning which includes: A and AS levels, GCSEs, Level 1 and 2, Entry Levels, and other vocational qualifications Achieve outstanding examination results because we have expert staff Achieve very good outcomes – socially, emotionally, and educationally. We teach skills and learning behaviors that our children can use and apply in all aspects of their lives as they grow towards adulthood

- Southmead is a two-form entry Primary School for children aged 3 to 11, situated in Southfields, South West London, very close to Wimbledon Tennis and the lovely Wimbledon Park. We are also home to an integrated children’s center for children aged 0-5 and their families as well as a 16 place ASD Base. Here at Southmead, we are very much aware of the responsibility that we have in ensuring that your children love coming to school. We are a diverse community and value every child as an individual. We are proud of being an inclusive school and we celebrate our cultural and linguistic diversity. We are ‘Proud to Belong’. Our priority, here at Southmead, is to make sure that your child fulfills their potential in their academic, creative, personal, physical, moral, and spiritual development. We want our children to develop a life-long love of learning and leave our school as confident and successful young people, looking forward to the next stage in their educational career. Underpinning everything that we do are the Southmead 5 Rs - our core values of responsibility, resilience, reasoning, resourcefulness, and reflectiveness. Our belief is that through exploring the importance of these values your child will go on to become extraordinary citizens making a useful and important contribution to society. We believe very strongly that partnership with parents is crucial to a child’s success and encourage parents to take an active part in their child’s school life. I know that by working together, we will continue to build on the strengths of the school to make it even more successful. Southmead has a diverse community and all major world faiths are represented, and all cultures valued. We have adopted 24 moral values which provide a common understanding in school and a framework from which to work in creating a cohesive atmosphere. The values are broken down into a particular “Value of the Month” and provide a focus for assemblies and some parts of the curriculum. Our school has become a harmonious place where children can thrive, work, and develop their full potential. Our school motto is Proud to Belong. This relates to every area of school life - learning, teaching, behavior, environment, and atmosphere. It means that every member of our school goes that “extra mile” to make the school the best it can be. We are very proud of all our achievements. At Southmead Primary School and Centre for Children and Families, we are committed to ensuring equality of education and opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents, and carers receiving services from the school, irrespective of race, gender, disability, faith, or religion, or socio-economic background. We aim to develop a culture of inclusion and diversity in which all those connected to the school feel proud of their identity and able to participate fully in school life. The achievement of pupils will be monitored by race, gender, and disability and we will use this data to support pupils, raise standards and ensure inclusive teaching. We will tackle discrimination by the positive promotion of equality, challenging bullying and stereotypes, and creating an environment that champions respect for all. At Southmead Primary School and Centre for Children and Families, we believe that diversity is a strength, which should be respected and celebrated by all those who learn, teach and visit here. We do this by: Treating all those within the school community (e.g. pupils, staff, governors, parents, and the community) as individuals with their particular abilities, beliefs, challenges, attitudes, background, and experience. Creating and maintaining a school ethos that promotes equality, develops understanding, and challenges myths, stereotypes, misconceptions, and prejudices. Encouraging everyone in our school community and Children’s Centre to gain a positive self-image and high self-esteem. Having high expectations for everyone involved with the whole school community. Promoting mutual respect and valuing each other’s similarities and differences and facing equalities issues openly and honestly. Monitoring and reviewing all the above to secure continuous improvement in all we do. At Southmead, we use a Picture Curriculum in our school. Each term, every class studies a different painting or sculpture. All of that class's learning and topics are then taken from that painting. This inspires and motivates our pupils, and allows our teachers to teach with greater depth. It also allows for a lot of cross-curricular work, as subjects are frequently inter-woven in our topic lessons so children can understand the links and connections between subjects and ideas. - Our focus is to provide the highest quality education to secure the best life chances for our students once they leave the Academy. A successful student will leave us prepared for their next stage in education or employment by understanding the world that we live in, being curious, and keen to develop further by learning from others around them. Our aims for each student are the same – to provide meaningful opportunities for them to learn, grow, develop and aspire, both academically and personally. We offer a wide range of courses. In addition to the traditional academic subjects, we offer vocational and work-related courses to prepare our students for their chosen careers. We have a flourishing and vibrant Sixth Form which offers a gateway to university, apprenticeships, or employment/training. Unlike many schools, we are non-selective as we believe that all students should have equal access to a good secondary education. This makes our results all the more remarkable and a testament to the quality of the teaching at the Academy. Last year our GCSE students achieved 66% A*-C including English and maths. Sixth Form students at the Academy achieved a 100% pass rate. Our Progress 8 score, which measures the progress a student makes during their time at the Academy, puts us in the top three secondary schools in Wandsworth. Being part of our community will teach our students that their education, like life, is collaborative. Students will learn that tolerance, respect, and good behavior are key to their success, both in the classroom and outside of it. All students, no matter how academic they are, will do well at Southfields Academy. We provide support for those students who struggle academically and those who excel will be challenged. By developing a love of learning in our students, we will inspire our students and prepare them for the next stage of their lives by embedding in them the knowledge that their aspirations and prospects should be no different from those of other young people. At Southfields, we aim to create a culture of tolerance and respect for others, where students and staff work together to improve. Our vision is to develop a provision that will secure the best life chances for our students once they leave Southfields Academy. This environment must inspire each individual in the community to be the very best that they can be. At Southfields, we have the highest expectations of achievement and behavior and offer a nurturing and supportive environment where we celebrate differences and ensure that everyone meets their full potential. We value every individual and commit to ensuring everyone feels supported and listened to. We offer the highest quality educational experience, aiming to inspire a generation of lifelong learners, who take pride in their achievements and take ownership of their learning. We believe creativity and imagination are the keys to developing future passions and talents. We have a positive, “can-do” attitude, believing that the sky is our limit, and we will think creatively and innovatively to meet the needs of our learners and our community. A successful Southfields student will understand the world we live in and is curious and keen to develop further by learning from others around them. This student will leave Southfields ready for their next stage in education or employment, equipped to learn and to grow. Southfields Academy has an outstanding and diverse curriculum that aspires to respond to the local and national agenda to ensure all our students receive a high-quality learning experience at all times. Our curriculum is the vehicle to allow our students to become: Confident and successful individuals who enjoy learning, make ambitious progress, and achieve high quality and meaningful qualifications. Responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society including their local community and the wider international world in which they exist. Our conversion to academy status enabled us to ensure that the needs of our students drive our curriculum provision at all times. Whilst confirming our commitment to the broad and balanced principles of the National Curriculum we also celebrate and use our strengths to drive excellence and innovation. We believe wholeheartedly that to access a broad and balanced curriculum, all students need to be confident and proficient in the basic skills of reading, writing, communication, and mathematics and these are given the highest priority at all times. Finally, we consider it critical that equal opportunities are promoted and realized at all levels of curriculum provision and that this is integral to outstanding practice. Whilst we provide extensive individual and small group withdrawal support where necessary, our curriculum celebrates inclusion at all times and we firmly believe that our diversity as a school ultimately enriches and enhances our curriculum for the benefit of all. The sixth form at Southfields Academy is a vibrant and rewarding place to study. Our A-level examination results are on an accelerated upward trend and our vocational courses maintain their outstanding outcomes. Our study programs aim to develop you as a whole person, equipped with the skills and qualities to achieve your personal and career goals. We encourage all students to recognize their potential and strive to develop their talents. This is way above the national average. Our priorities are: To offer you a curriculum carefully designed to accommodate different career paths and allow maximum flexibility and choice. - Over 100 years ago, in 1906 Southfield school first opened its doors to pupils from Chiswick and the local area. Since then it has evolved to become the happy, friendly, and thriving place to learn that it is today. The Edwardian building on Southfield Road, Bedford Park offers a glimpse into the style of education offered at the turn of the last century with three separate entrances for Infants, Junior Boys, and Junior Girls. Today the school is home to more than 520 children and reflects the diversity of our local community. For every child, we aim to provide a happy, nurturing community that inspires them to learn and to be their best. At Southfield, we value: Respect Optimism Honesty Inclusivity Fairness Perseverance We aim for Southfield to provide a happy, nurturing community that inspires children to learn and to be their best. To do this there are two main areas we would like to improve: the quality of the learning materials that are on offer to our children and the environment in which they learn. The funds we have can take us so far, but we believe if we could generate additional financial support it could benefit the school significantly. After discussion between the Governing Body and our Headteacher, The School agreed this is an opportunity we would like to try. Therefore, to help achieve this we are asking for your support in making a voluntary financial contribution to a new ‘Sunflower Fund’. Over a hundred years old, Southfield has a vibrant history and we are lucky enough to have alumni that live both near and far. If you would like to be added to our list of old Southfieldians then please contact the office with your name and address and we will send you our latest newsletter with details of what’s happening in the school and events and fundraising carried out by our wonderful Southfield Parent School Association (SPSA). We also have a small archive collection at the school and access to the archive collection held at Ealing Local Studies library. Please click on the tabs for some snapshots of our exciting past. The school would be interested in any old photos, archives, and memories of your time at the school that can be shared. View full school

- We are an ambitious academic sixth form whose aim is to ensure that every student fulfills their potential. We achieve this through excellent teaching and learning in the classroom and regular robust assessments throughout all courses which allows both teacher and student to measure the progress being made in chosen subjects and fill any gaps in knowledge and understanding. Our excellent exam results at both A-Level and Vocational Level 3 courses provide evidence of our success. National statistics show, that on average, students achieve more than half a grade higher at the Southern Consortium Sixth Form. Progress rates to University are outstanding, with more than 85% of students leaving us to join University or start an Apprenticeship. Of those that progress to University, more than one in four attend Russell Group Universities. We have strong links with several high-status Higher Education institutions, such as the University of the Arts London and Kings College. Our students have the opportunity to participate in several prestigious aspiration programs, such as K+, receiving mentoring regarding their chosen career paths. We also appreciate that it is important that students are provided with opportunities to develop a wide range of skills that are valued by both Universities and employers alike. Our Enhancement program includes the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Young Enterprise, Sports Leaders, Paired Reading, as well as charitable activities, such as First Give. All students that join the Southern Consortium Sixth Form are supported by a well-staffed sixth form team. As well as your Form Tutor, you will also have regular contact with the sixth form Vice-Principal and Assistant Head of Sixth Form, as well as the Higher Education Co-ordinator, and for some students, who require additional support, an Academic Mentor. By joining the Southern Consortium Sixth Form you are making a solid investment in yourself and your future. I would encourage you to apply as early as possible, and attend one of our Open Events either in the autumn or summer term, and view our state-of-the-art facilities. All Year 12 students select an Enhance Programme option to complement their core course offer (of either A’ level subjects or Vocational level 3 Extended Diploma). There is a well-developed program of additional activities and events to enhance student learning. By selecting an Enhance Programme option, we can ensure that students leave the Consortium equipped to succeed in higher education, employment, and as adult members of our society. We are incredibly proud of the provision of support we offer all our students to enrich their skills, knowledge, and confidence to make informed choices about their future and minimize barriers to access Higher Education. Personalized guidance is fundamental in our approach and the quality of this is a result of establishing strong links and partnerships with Russell Group and research-intensive universities. As such, our students are invited and selected to partake in a range of prestigious pre-university programs, which have led to successful applications at competitive universities, and, for some, conditional grade offers have been lowered. All students making applications are fully supported through the process by our Higher Education coordinators. The A-level Art and Design course are designed to introduce students to a variety of experiences exploring a range of media, processes, and techniques. Great emphasis is put upon developing the creative and expressive content of students' artwork as the course proceeds. An integral part of the course is to explore and learn from the art traditions, styles, and skills of contemporary and historical artists and art movements. For Component 2, students respond to a stimulus, provided by the exam board, to produce work that provides evidence of their ability to work independently within specified time constraints. For both components, students are expected to explore an in-depth journey of ideas in response to their chosen brief/topic, which leads to a finished outcome or a series of related finished outcomes. To develop into higher education, it is very important to have strong mathematical skills. Studying A-level Mathematics supports other A-level subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computing, Geography, Psychology, and Economics. Studying Mathematics and Further Mathematics, (known as ‘facilitating’ subjects) is a way to make your university application stand out. These are highly recognized by Russell Group universities. Employers value students who study Mathematics, as they develop to become better at thinking logically and analytically. Through problem-solving, students develop resilience and can think creatively and strategically. Individuals with good Mathematical skills and qualifications are both well paid and experience rewarding careers. View full school

We work closely with all the schools in the Buckley, Mynydd Isa area. Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an environment that prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. Southdown School was opened in 1976 for children aged 4 – 11. We also have a Nursery and children aged 3 to 4 can attend on a part-time basis (5 mornings or afternoons sessions per week). This year the 412 children are organized into 16 mixed ability classes from Nursery to Year 6. The school’s organization is reviewed each year and may be changed to accommodate the number of pupils within the school. Staff plan activities and learning experiences which are appropriate to children’s stages of development, age, and ability. The activities and learning experiences may be whole class tasks, at other times children will work together in small groups or independently. Most lessons are taught in mixed ability groups but some grouping by ability may occur in the core subjects of English and Mathematics. The school aims to develop a broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum that recognizes the importance of the ‘whole child. View full school

- Southbury Primary School. Southbury is a happy and successful multi-cultural two-form entry primary school situated in eastern Enfield, within easy access of M25 and A10. We are a two-form entry school with fourteen classes and a Nursery meaning we have 480 children in total on our school roll. Our school vision is very simple but of fundamental importance to us all. We want all of our staff and parents to work together to enable all of the children who pass through the school to reach their full potential in a safe, happy, and caring environment. We want them to leave Southbury confident they will be able to succeed in secondary school and beyond. Ultimately we hope that they will be lifelong learners who will able to find employment that they enjoy doing and is meaningful and rewarding for them as they continue with their journeys through life. To achieve this, they must have the best possible start to school life and that is what we aim to give them at Southbury. The school was built in 1905 and the Infant and Junior Schools were amalgamated in 1986. The school has two teaching buildings, one administration block, and a Nursery unit. We have two halls and three playgrounds. There are currently 75 members of staff. The school serves a large area of Enfield known as Ponders End which has a wide range of housing, both privately and council-owned some dating back to the late 1800s and some post-war. The school reflects the cultural and ethnic diversity of the area with over three-quarters of our children from homes where English is the second language. There are over thirty mother tongues represented in all with Turkish, Somali, and Bengali being the largest groups. The school had a very successful Ofsted report in October 2013. It was recognized as a “Good School” with several outstanding features. Areas graded as “Outstanding” included Leadership and Management and children’s behavior. We are proud of the relationships between all members of the school community and of the achievements of our children. We work tremendously hard to ensure that each of the national curriculum objectives is broken down into key skills, and these are taught through a variety of exciting and engaging topics. - Southborough Primary School in Bromley has been celebrated under a new program set up by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to recognize exceptional schools in the capital. Schools for Success is part of the Mayor's drive to help tackle education inequality and increase standards for all schoolchildren across the capital, whatever their background. Schools for Success celebrates schools that are achieving academic success with all their pupils, in particular disadvantaged or vulnerable students who started behind their peers or those affected by circumstances that could have an impact on their learning. In 2016 there were more than 39,000 pupils at the end of primary school and 30,000 at the end of secondary school[ii] who did not reach expected levels. London’s schools are outperforming the rest of the country with last year’s GCSE results showing the city as the top English region for the ninth consecutive year. Southborough has been recognized in the Schools for Success Awards because We took a holistic approach to improve outcomes for these children, this included Small group interventions, PiXL for example, to focus and develop the learning of key skills. An Easter revision camp for pupils in Year 6 to ensure that they make the best progress they can. Effective Teaching Support in EYFS to ensure disadvantaged children have the best start in their learning. Ensuring that vulnerable children are not unfairly disadvantaged due to their family circumstances, by providing opportunities available to other children, e.g. by subsidizing clubs, and ensuring access to school-run opportunities on a case by case basis. Developing the use of a nurture group to ensure the good progress of pupils with attachment difficulties. The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: 'Congratulations to Southborough Primary School for its outstanding achievements and the hard work of its pupils and teaching staff. London has some of the best schools in the country, and Schools for Success shows the huge difference good quality teaching can make to pupils who started behind in their studies. By sharing best practices with other schools across the capital, we can help every young Londoner reach their full potential, and ensure no child is left behind.” 102 schools have been recognized in Schools for Success, the first year of the scheme. They are being asked to share their good practice through seminars and hosting visits to their school so that other schools can learn from their successful approaches. At Southborough Primary we are committed to providing a nurturing environment that enables everyone to flourish. We work as a team to encourage everyone to achieve to the highest standard, to develop a thirst for knowledge and a love of learning. We celebrate the potential of every child and work together to help our pupils build the skills and resilience they need to be happy and successful. View full school

- Southbank is a school whose quality and identity rest on its commitment to the International Baccalaureate and promotion of internationalism. With over seventy nationalities on our roll, we live and breathe the spirit of internationalism, as reflected in our three programs of learning as well as the many activities outside the classroom which enhance and enrich an individual’s education, and the life of the school as a whole. We are an IB school that prides itself on the cultivation and nurturing of an ethos and spirit rooted in the school’s foundation and history, as well as the philosophy of the IB. We believe education should be seen as an end in itself as well as a means of enhancing career and life prospects we believe in the pursuit of academic rigor we believe that doubt is an intellectual strength, not a weakness we believe in the promotion of compassion, tolerance, and diversity we believe in developing independent, confident, curious, lifelong learners who commit themselves to help others as well as themselves. We aim to do all we can to ensure our students fulfill their academic potential, not least so that those who leave us at eighteen have the opportunity to go on to a university of their choice. Southbank International School is committed to academic rigor, a liberal ethos, and the values of the International Baccalaureate. Southbank aims to be an international school that: Has a broad curriculum with a global outlook, and a strong emphasis on inquiry Promotes academic rigor, and enthusiasm for learning Provides opportunities for students to study other languages, as well as their own, and to become good communicators Celebrates intellectual skepticism, and stresses the importance of remaining open-minded and reflective Supports individual needs and develops individual strengths, so that everyone can fulfill their potential Uses London as a classroom We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of care, safety, and wellbeing for all students. Our students and staff are encouraged to talk openly about any concerns or worries they have and know that they will be listened to. At Southbank, this culture of care is uncompromising, is an integral part of our community, and guides the decisions and actions that we take in the day-to-day running of our school. It includes the comfort and security of our school environments, the pastoral care and emotional wellbeing of our students, the rigorous vetting of our staff, and robust policies, procedures, and training in all areas relating to the care and safety of children. Our staff members are expected to be accountable for the care and safety of our students. Our robust governance structure includes safeguarding and health and safety checks. As part of the Cognita Group, our school is regularly monitored and assessed to ensure the safety and security of our teaching and learning environment. Cognita’s safeguarding policies, procedures, and governance are based upon statutory UK requirements, which are further enhanced with best practice. This approach applies not only to Southbank but to all schools within the Cognita Group and as a leader in education, Cognita looks to go above and beyond what is required by regulators in all countries in which it operates schools. We seek to create a harmonious community based on fairness, integrity, and respect for others who may hold different opinions. Our student population is drawn from London’s international community – including children of expatriates, business people, diplomats, and other professionals, so naturally, Southbank offers a strong language program. The language of instruction at the school is English. While we do not take beginners in English in our secondary school, those students who need some support in English may receive dedicated EAL lessons. At the Primary Years campuses, we do accept students under 9 years old (Grade 4) with little or no English, and support students to attain the standard of English needed to graduate to Grade 6.
