St. Clare’s is a Roman Catholic Primary School under the trusteeship of the Diocese of Salford. It is maintained by Manchester Local Authority. As a Voluntary Aided School, the Governing Body is the Admissions Authority and is responsible for taking decisions on applications for admissions. The coordination of admissions arrangements is undertaken by the Local Authority. For the school’s year commencing September 2018/19, the Governing Body has set its admissions number at 60. In addition to applying to the Local Authority, St. Clare’s admission policy requires applicants to complete a St. Clare’s Admissions Form to supplement this. Children are actively encouraged to have a voice and share their views and opinions regularly. Our active school council is one such example. We hold an election in the Autumn term where the children in Year 2-6 vote for two class representatives. The school council meets regularly to discuss ideas and issues important to the children and the school. Every child also contributes their ideas to the composition of their class charter every year. This sets ground rules for classroom conduct and establishes the standards of behavior children can expect from each other over the year ahead. All children also complete an annual questionnaire which provides them with the opportunity to share their views on learning at St Chrysostom’s and suggest ways in which the school could be improved further. The importance of laws, whether they be those that govern the class, the school, or the country, are consistently reinforced throughout the school day, as well as when dealing with behavior and through school assemblies. Children are taught the value and reasons behind laws, that they govern and protect us, the responsibilities that this involves, and the consequences when laws are broken. Our school's rules, rewards, and sanctions, which are displayed in all classrooms, are referred to regularly and consistently upheld. Within school, children are actively encouraged to make decisions and choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. St Christopher’s School is an independent Primary school, which is part of the Inspired Learning Group. Our school sets out to provide parents with an educational provision which we believe large Independent schools are unable to match. We are a small, highly resourced one-form entry school with an average of 12-14 pupils to a class. Our Inspection reports and our academic results testify to our success. For KS1 and KS2 our curriculum for the foundation subjects is covered as half termly topics. Each topic ends with an Exit point which provides an opportunity for all children to 'show what they know. This may take the form of a presentation to parents, a piece of writing, a showcase of work to another class, or perhaps an ICT presentation. In addition, each topic also has a homework project which we hope will provide an opportunity for families to work with their children to deepen their knowledge, skills, and understanding. Our curriculum includes exciting subject and theme immersion days and weeks which allow a more in-depth focus on individual subjects and a variety of enrichment opportunities including visits out and visitors into school. At St. Christopher Catholic Primary school our long-term plans and curriculum overview focuses on the use of Early years outcomes and ensuring that each child makes progress. This is done through relevant planning, which takes into consideration the interests and experiences of the children and assessment. Previous planning, observation, assessment, and the use of floor books and mind maps allow teachers to plan using their knowledge of children’s development, their interests, and next steps. Mind maps (medium-term plans) can be added to and adapted to suit the needs of the children and the lines of development/ interests the children take. This is made clear in the document, ‘Christ at the Centre’ written and published initially by the Archdiocese of Birmingham and latterly adopted by the Bishops’ Conference for England and Wales for Catholic Education. This document states that ‘Gospel Values’ are best defined by the Beatitudes. Actively promoting these values means challenging pupils, staff or parents/carers who express opinions contrary to fundamental British values, including ‘extremist views. At St Chad's we aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum, that meets the needs of all pupils. Each area has specific goals called the Early Learning Goals which children are expected to achieve by the end of the Reception year. We deliver the curriculum using the guidance document called Development Matters in the EYFS. This guidance provides development statements from Birth to 60+ months and it is our Long Term Plan. The Nursery activities focus primarily on the 30 to 50 months development statements and in Reception, the focus is on the 40 to 60 months development statements. To ensure the children become independent readers we use the computer program "Accelerated Reader." The children select their book at their level and when finished they take a short quiz - passing the quiz is an indication that the child has understood the book. Since children are reading books at their reading and interest levels, most children are likely to be successful and enjoy the books and quizzes. Best of all they learn and grow at their own pace. We encourage all children to read to an adult for 10 minutes a night and have their reading record signed for the next morning. Here at St Chad's RC Primary School, we have a fantastic connection with St Chad's Church. We enjoy celebrating events in the Christian calendar and consider it important to worship as a whole school. Not only do we visit and celebrate at Church but also at school! Father Chris and Brother Gerard make regular visits to us both for masses and to visit each class. Here at St Chad's, we are very lucky to have such a great team of governors who are dedicated to all aspects of the school. With regular meetings, the governors take pride in ensuring the children receive the best possible education. At Saint Chad's, we pride ourselves on living our life with the 5WS at the core of everything we do, we hope that all visitors are welcome in our school and enjoy finding out more about our values. We have raised money for countless charities, including CAFOD and St Joseph's Penny which come under the Caritas umbrella. Caritas is a big part of what we do and they even sponsor our sports kit. We often collect and give food to the Lally Centre and think of lots of creative ways to fundraise money. In the past these have included: Sponsered danceathons, bake sales, own clothes days, and St Joseph's penny collections. At St Chad's our priority is your child's welfare and therefore there may be occasions when our concern about your child means that we have to consult other agencies even before we contact you. The procedures we follow have been laid down by the Birmingham Safeguarding Children Board. The behavior of our children is good, both in school and when taking part in learning opportunities outside of school, they never let us down. Our parents are supportive of our Mission and we welcome them into our school for Family and Parent workshops whenever we can. We have dedicated staff who work hard for the good of the children and the wider community. We provide many opportunities for extracurricular activities, both sporting and academic. As part of a whole-school approach, PSHE education develops the qualities and attributes pupils need to thrive as individuals, family members, and members of society. During KS1 learners gradually build on the skills, attitudes and values, knowledge, and understanding they have started to acquire and develop during the Early Years/Foundation Stage. PSHE education offers learning opportunities and experiences which reflect the increasing independence and physical and social awareness of learners as they move through the primary phase. St. Cecilia's is a Roman Catholic Voluntary Aided Primary School in the Archdiocese of Southwark. The principal objective of the school is to establish, maintain and advance the Catholic religion. It was built to serve the local Catholic community, in particular, the children of practicing Catholic families in the parishes of St. Cecilia's, St. Matthias, and St. Christopher's. The school caters to children from three to eleven years of age. We have over 480 children on roll and fourteen classes, each of which is named after a Saint. At St Cecilia's, Religious Education is given the priority it pervades the whole ethos of the life and work of the school. We offer a wide curriculum incorporating the requirements of the National Curriculum. The Catholic community supports the school because they value a distinctive Catholic Education for their children. A substantial amount of funding for the upkeep of the school is donated by regular churchgoers in these parishes through their regular weekly contributions at Mass.
