St Mary’s and St. Peter’s is a voluntary aided primary school founded by the Church of England to provide education for the children of Teddington. The school is sponsored by the two Parish Churches of Teddington, St. Mary with St Alban and St Peter and St Paul with St Michael and St George. The role of the Nominated Governor is to meet regularly with the DSL to monitor that appropriate policies and procedures are in place and that they are being implemented correctly. If you are applying for a Foundation Place, the supplementary information form should also be completed and this should be returned to the school (not the local authority) by the published deadline so that the governors may give full consideration to your application. The school maintains a waiting list for children who are not initially offered a place. Parents need to inform the school if they would like their child to be kept on our waiting list. This does not happen automatically. The lists are kept indefinitely and parents are asked to inform the school if they would like their child’s name removed. Parents have the right to appeal against a decision not to offer their child a place at this school. The school operates according to the Local Authority’s appeals procedures. The school will provide the children with fruit for morning playtime in the Foundation Stage and KS1. There will be a different type of fruit each day. Children are always supervised at playtimes and any problems are dealt with quickly by the teacher on duty. Bumps or grazes are promptly dealt with by members of staff who are first aid trained. You will be informed in these situations. The reception classes have their own outdoor space. During the first few weeks, the children will have their playtimes in this area. As their confidence increases the children will gradually integrate with Year 1 and Year 2 into the main infant playground. The reception playground is specifically set each day as an outdoor classroom so we respectfully ask that you do not allow your children to play with the activities set up in this area before or after school. The Governors of the school are responsible for the strategic direction of the school and are very involved in the whole of school life. They meet as a whole group twice a term and in addition to this, they meet for regular sub-committees and serve a four-year term of office. The Chair of Governors can be contacted via the school. All Early Years providers complete an EYFS profile for each child in the final term of the year in which the child reaches the age of five. For most children, this is the Reception Year. The primary purpose of the EYFS profile is to provide a reliable, valid, and accurate assessment of individual children at the end of the EYFS. The Courtyard School is a free school for pupils with special educational needs. The pupils who attend the school have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and/or speech, language, and communication needs. We are also able to offer a therapeutic element to the curriculum, through our links with CAMHS, the Local Authorities Educational Psychology team, and Integrated Services Speech and Language Therapists. All pupils are provided with a key worker to oversee all their pastoral needs. Enrichment opportunities support our commitment to support the pupils in developing their social and communication skills. Enrichment is an important part of the personalized curriculum offer at The Courtyard. Each day pupils can choose from a range of activities, such as learning a new language, yoga, and chess. We feel that this plays a vital role in the development of their social skills and further enables them to build relationships with their peers. Pupils are also able to access excellent enrichment offer at the Academy. They can take part in an extremely varied program, for example, basketball, farming, drama, and book club. The Courtyard, as part of St Mary Magdalene Academy, has the ethos of a Christian community for learning as the basis of the Behaviour Policy. We encourage good behavioral standards and social inclusion through a personalized behavior program that is set out in a clear code of conduct. All other areas were found to be Good. In 2017 our KS2 Progress results were in the top 10% nationwide. Our Reading results were the best in Bromley. 25% of our children leaving Year 6 were offered grammar places. SMCPA is thriving and going from strength to strength.
