      2. We warmly welcome you and your child to St. Patrick’s Catholic Primary School. St. Patrick’s is a thriving, friendly school dedicated to the success of its children. We provide full-time education for 236 boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 11 years. Our pupils then transfer to secondary schools such as Maria Fidelis, La-Sainte Union, Finchley Catholic High, St. Michael's Grammar School for Girls, Cardinal Vaughan, Camden School for Girls, and William Ellis. We are a Roman Catholic Voluntary Aided school in the trusteeship of the Archdiocese of Westminster. The school serves families in the parish of Our Lady Help Of Christians, Kentish Town, and beyond. We are an inclusive school, reflecting the rich diversity of families in our locality. St. Patrick's is also a school situated in the heart of London, with all the opportunities and challenges that brings. It is our firm belief that your child’s education and wider needs are best served through a close partnership between home and school and between the home, school, and parish. This partnership is based on the principle that whilst the school and parish have crucial roles in the education and growth of each child, parents are their first teachers and the greatest influence in a child’s life. At St. Patrick’s we encourage you to become involved in your child’s learning and the life of the school and parish. We aim to provide a welcoming atmosphere that encourages you to come and discuss any difficulties, problems, or uncertainties where the education and well-being of your child are concerned. We look forward to working with you and your child and having your involvement in the life of the school. Having a statement of St Patrick’s Vision and Values is very important. This is much more than a series of words printed on paper, to be glanced at and filed away. It sets out what we value, our high ambitions and aspirations for our children, and how we aim to behave. It is a foundation stone on which we will build. When we think of our policies or our rules, or when we review our curriculum, or when we have an opportunity to improve our building, we will ask what our Vision and Values statement says to guide us. This is the result of many sessions with children, staff, and governors – everyone in the St Patrick’s community. So it reflects what we all want. It is not set in stone. We will keep it in front of us, and we will review and amend it as we grow. Our Vision is a short picture of the future that we are seeking to create. We are thinking about 3 years away. Our Values would be regarded as our personality if the school was a single human being. It includes things like our ways of doing things, our expectations of each other, our aspirations for our children, and the care and respect we show each other. Of course, our Vision and Values must be consistent with each other. Our Values will help us in achieving our Vision. In this document, we will set out our Vision and Values, and will then give some examples of what all this might mean in practice. St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School will be a model of educational excellence, consistently within the top 5% of schools in England. The School will have achieved this through the delivery of a creative and rigorous curriculum that inspires and motivates all our children to realize their God-given potential. Children will leave St Patrick’s happy with who they are, confident in their abilities, polite and articulate, and ambitious for their future growth at secondary school and beyond. “At St.Patrick’s school, we will provide excellence in education inspired by the practice of our Catholic Faith. We will make the most of all our gifts in our safe, happy, and caring school. With Jesus Christ as our friend and model, we will help each other to grow in the love of God, developing self-esteem, and a love of learning.” St. Patrick’s School has a long history and it is one of the oldest Catholic schools in London. The school was founded in Soho in 1803 by a group of Irish merchants to serve the children of Irish immigrant workers. The school opened in Frith Street in March 1803 as St. Patrick’s Charity School and continued to thrive and expand throughout many moves to various buildings within Soho, the last of which was to Great Chapel Street in 1888. In the late 1800s, the demography of Soho parish schools began to change. New parishes in surrounding areas were established with new schools and families moved into the improved accommodation in these areas. Emigration took many families to America. The school roll continued to shrink during the 1900s, although some children were being brought in from other parts of London including Kentish Town. By 1962 the school roll had fallen to 89. In the meanwhile, a new Catholic primary school was needed in Kentish Town. St. Patrick’s was therefore transferred to its present site and building in Holmes Road in September 1967. View full school
