- The Latymer School is a high achieving, selective grammar school with a great tradition of success we aim to provide a first-class education for all our students. We believe that an outstanding education develops students academically, socially, and morally, giving them the skills to be successful in whatever they do once they have left us. We also feel it is important to develop students outside of the classroom and offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities and trips including visits to our residential center in Cwm, Wales. Secondary education represents a major stage in the life of each young person and so we aim to work together with parents, carers, governors, and the local community to support our young people enabling them to develop and grow within this community and in building together a real sense of identity within The Latymer School. Our motto is ‘who endeavors wins’ and that sums up the ethos we wish to build within our school community life is not always straight forward and we encourage our students to persist, to keep trying, and then success will come. The Latymer School aims to provide a broad and stimulating educational experience with very high standards within the formal curriculum while believing that school life should be valued for itself and not only as a preparation for adulthood. The heart of the school's aims is the intellectual, cultural, and social development of all pupils in a context of mutual esteem and sensible good order. There is an outstanding musical tradition that leads to a wide range of music-making, much of it of very high quality, mainly as an extra-curricular activity. Drama, sport, and outdoor pursuits are also very strong. The House system engenders much purposeful activity: inter-House competitions in sport, drama, and music and non-competitive ventures such as fundraising for a wide variety of charities. Our field center in North Wales, owned by the Foundation, is widely used as a base for outdoor pursuits and field courses. Our aim is for each pupil to develop talents and interests to the full while experiencing a broad and balanced curriculum throughout Years 7 to 11. In Years 12 and 13, the curriculum is narrower and academic and prepares pupils for further studies and many different careers. The courses offered at all levels challenge pupils to develop insight and independence of thought and value both sound learning and intellectual rigor. Our courses in Years 7 to 11 comply with the requirements of the National Curriculum. The curriculum is reviewed each year. View full school

- At the heart of a King’s education is the dual pursuit of academic and co-curricular excellence. The wide-ranging interests, the intellectual ambition, and the development of self-discipline that such pursuits engender are highly prized in our modern global society. The quality of the teaching and the breadth of the activities outside the classroom mean that the lessons learned, and the skills acquired stay with our pupils for life. An essential feature of this process is how it does not matter if the passion is for sport, music, acting, or chess – to make a random selection of the plethora of opportunities for young people at King’s. We aim to anchor a 21st Century education within the illustrious history of the oldest school in the country, dating from 597 AD. The late Lord Pilkington, one of our most distinguished Headmasters, described a King’s education as resting on the simultaneous pursuit of academic and co-curricular excellence. Ethos Our philosophy behind the pursuit of academic excellence is that talented pupils are stretched but not stressed by enlightened and stimulating teaching. The Lower and Middle School curriculum combines a broad sweep of both the arts and the sciences which nurture a careful training of the mind. Our vibrant and intellectually exciting Sixth Form provides the ideal springboard for strong applications to Oxbridge, Russell Group, and other top UK and US universities. The King’s spirit gains its momentum and releases through the equal weight attached to co-curricular activities. King possesses the knack of developing individual passions that often become lifelong pursuits sporting, musical, and artistic opportunities abound for every pupil. The school is situated within the Precincts of Canterbury Cathedral in Kent, a World Heritage Site. The buildings are a mixture of old and new ranging from the 14th-century Meister Omers to the 21st-century New Grange. Such a setting, by its very nature, creates a close-knit and warm-hearted community that is spiritually aware, historically informed, and appreciative of aesthetic beauty. Excellent pastoral care means that adolescents can grow up in a secure and nurturing environment where individuals value the success of others as much as they enjoy their triumphs. The energy and the spirit of the pupils are a worthy match for the exceptional environment. The King’s learning experience is designed to encompass both depth and breadth. Built upon historic foundations and supported by the extensive co-curriculum and strong pastoral care, the developing individual is taken out into the wider world locally, nationally, and globally. Our focus remains, therefore, upon developing the individual in the fullest possible sense. In terms of academic development, this means focusing upon the quality of learning recognizing the needs of the time in which they live, and encouraging an enquiring mind that loves learning for learning’s sake. Education forever changes, and not just the examination curriculum. We are now in a digital world of instant and mobile connectivity, dominated by information and data. There are exciting opportunities for a new pedagogy. There are new and different challenges. Our task is to develop and deliver a curriculum in a way that is relevant to today’s teenagers but without jettisoning what we value so highly from the past. We are determined to retain the full variety of academic subjects, supported by our three core themes (researching, questioning, and communicating), and the ‘real learning that is essential in public exams and life. We broadly welcome the changes to A Levels and the opportunity to study subjects in more depth with less focus upon modular examinations. Our current wide-ranging IGCSE program (supported by some national GCSEs) is very good preparation for the Sixth Form and beyond. View full school

- The King David High School is founded on traditional Jewish values with a belief in respect, courtesy, self-discipline, diligence, and the pursuit of excellence. Our mission is to encourage every child to reach the highest levels of academic achievement, creativity, and personal development. Equally, we aim to create a generation who will be knowledgeable, committed to their faith and values, and who will become outstanding citizens within the Jewish and wider community. The King David High School has an enviable reputation. Over the past two decades, the school has undergone a massive transformation and has now become the school of choice for many of the brightest and the best in the Greater Manchester region and beyond. Its achievements place it among the top schools in the country. Indeed, the results of Yavneh and Solomon rank them alongside the very best schools in the independent sector. Its ethos is aptly summarized in the school's mission statement: "...Excellence... the pursuit of excellence in every area of the curriculum is our primary aim, to ensure that every child achieves their maximum potential and beyond, combined with a warm and caring environment and with the teaching and practice of Judaism and its values." alongside the ethos of excellence, academic achievement, and personal development, great emphasis is placed on achieving the kind of atmosphere where learning becomes a pleasure and the school an experience to enjoy. The creation of a warm and caring environment is a founding principal of the school. The school goes to great lengths in its care for pupils. "...this is a happy school with a sense of purpose, a positive ethos, moral code and conduct... pupils are courteous, friendly, well-motivated and enthusiastic.. relationships are excellent..." (Ofsted) Not every child has the same natural academic ability, but every child has great potential. The school's role is to inspire and ignite the flame of interest and ambition and to cultivate talent so that each child can realize their full potential. History has shown that Jewish continuity has always been predicated on Jewish education and knowledge. Without knowledge there is no pride, without pride, there is no commitment and without commitment, there are no Jews. Research also shows that Jewish communities, which do not have strong secondary schools, simply decline. If there is to be a vibrant Jewish community in Manchester fifty years from now, Jewish children must attend a Jewish school. Strong Jewish education is imperative, to imbue children with the knowledge of and pride in their heritage and identity. This gift will enable them to face the world with confidence, in the firm knowledge of who they are and where they stand. And there is more. We are living in a world that is hostile to many of the fundamental Jewish values family life, respect for parents, teachers, elders, and fellow men. There is also a lack of respect for standards, discipline, morality, faith, and tradition. Today, more than ever, we need to reinforce the value system and moral compass our religion gives us. The school promotes the values, standards, and discipline of the faith and this will help ensure that our graduates will retain their faith and will become model citizens and leaders within the community and beyond. The King David High School Sixth Form combines academic excellence with a warm and supportive Jewish atmosphere. This enables students to maximize their potential and prepares them to face the demands of life after the Sixth Form with confidence. The Sixth Form offers students a wide choice of subjects, which are taught in small tuition groups. In addition, students benefit from the individual attention, support, and guidance provided by a dedicated team of Sixth Form tutors and mentors. At King David Sixth Form we consistently have some of the best A-level results in the country and were rated the fourth-best performing comprehensive school in the country by the Sunday Times in 2010. The vast majority of our students go on to the higher education institution of their choice, including several top universities including Oxford and Cambridge every year. This is in large part due to the academic excellence and hard work of the students that we are privileged to have in the Sixth Form but is also the result of careful monitoring of students and their work and the setting of the very highest standards. Students are encouraged to develop independence and take responsibility for their learning at the Sixth Form level with a new state-of-the-art Sixth Form library dedicated to private study. In addition to reports and parents’ evening's effort grades are collected from subject teachers and communicated to parents every half term to monitor progress. Students also review the grades with their form tutor who will act as their guide and first point of contact for the two years of the sixth form. Students are encouraged to have an adult-to-adult dialogue with teachers and are placed at the heart of the self-review and target-setting process. Partnership with parents and carers is key to ensuring that children maximize their potential at school. Research has shown that where parents and carers are engaged with the work of the school, their child is more likely to achieve successful outcomes. View full school

- The King Alfred School was founded in 1898 by a group of parents who believed in the then-radical idea that boys and girls should be educated together in a secular environment that encouraged learning for its own sake. It wanted to provide an education that focused on what was best for the whole child, on the development of character and individuality. King Alfred School is an informal independent day school situated on the edge of Hampstead Heath in London. With 650 students from Reception age through to a flourishing Sixth Form, we are a vibrant and friendly community where the emphasis, both academically and socially, is on discovering and maximizing the potential of each child. The school stands out from the prevailing educational environment as a school that achieves academic success without unnecessary pressures and social success through the development of relationships and responsibility rather than external discipline. It is a school that is genuinely loved by students, parents, and staff alike. The village green setting of the main school site contributes to the community feeling. Most children will join at Reception and continue to the Sixth Form. The transition from Lower to Upper School is a natural one and for KAS students does not depend on assessments or examinations. The school believes that each child should be allowed to develop at their own pace in an atmosphere that is free from fear, according to the principles of mutual respect and trust. We place a strong emphasis on creative and active learning and the value of play. Supported by a high staff to pupil ratio, we aim to provide a happy, compassionate environment in which the emotional, physical, and social development of each child are held in equal regard to academic progress. At King Alfred, we make sure that every child is engaged and challenged in their learning. We are committed to nurturing a love of learning and a passion to continue education throughout their lives. For this to happen, we believe that learning needs to be active, creative, and enjoyable. Passing examinations is important. However, we want our students to take them in their stride, and value their learning beyond the exam grade. Students will also experience the moral dimension of learning. Tolerance and integrity, respect and honesty are interwoven threads of the curriculum. We believe that our students should have a sound understanding of the world both near and far from home, that they should recognize the value of diversity and alternative views, and learn to be socially responsible 21st Century global citizens. Social and personal development is central. Young people are capable of incredible accomplishments and we want every King Alfred student to have a strong sense of confidence and self-belief. We want them to understand their responsibilities to others as well as their rights as individuals. And we want them to be able to work well with others as part of a team and as leaders both at school and beyond our gates. We support students to become emotionally resilient, compassionate to others, and filled with an appetite for the possibilities of life. King Alfred is a unique environment. We are a school that starts from the first principles of what is right for the child. We are less hierarchical and more democratic than other schools as we believe this enables our students to develop into well-rounded, creative, enthusiastic, and thoughtful individuals. Our approach means that young people are inspired to achieve their best, and have the tools to be happy, successful, and fulfilled in their future lives. View full school

- We are a busy but friendly school, with lots going on. Throughout their time at Kilburn Park School our pupils will have a wealth of experiences that will help shape their future academic achievement, pave the way to achieve their aspirations, and lay the foundation for their lives. Our goals for our pupils include the following: To achieve and exceed expected standards in English, mathematics, science, and ICT and acquire a deep understanding of the relevant knowledge and skills. To crave knowledge and be true lifelong learners. To experience a range of artistic and athletic activities regularly. To appreciate not only their own culture and heritage but also to grow an appreciation for the cultural heritage of the many children living in the United Kingdom. To become independent learners, resourceful when they don’t know something or need help finding a solution. To aspire to improve themselves and understand the need to give back to the community they live in. Above all else, our goal is for Kilburn Park pupils is to be excited to take on the challenges that lie ahead because they feel prepared and capable. The school curriculum at Kilburn Park includes the ‘National Curriculum’, Religious Education, and Sex Education. The national curriculum is a set of subjects and standards used by primary and secondary schools so children learn the same things. It covers what subjects are taught and the standards children should reach in each subject. The National Curriculum is organized into blocks of years called ‘key stages’. At the end of each key stage, your child’s teacher will formally assess their performance to measure your child’s progress. At Kilburn Park, we teach from the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum. For each subject, there’s a ‘program of study. It describes what children should learn. Our science curriculum aims to provide children with knowledge and concepts across all three strands of learning. Through a range of inquiry-led activities, practical experiments, and investigations we want our pupils to develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about the natural world around them. We encourage children to understand how to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyze causes. At Kilburn Park School, everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play in safeguarding children. We have a responsibility to provide a safe environment in which children can learn. We teach Religious Education as it informs our values and is reflected in what we say and how we behave. We aim to develop children’s knowledge and understanding of the religions and beliefs which form part of the world in which we live. Religious Education provokes challenging questions about the ultimate meaning and purpose of life, beliefs about God, the self and the nature of reality, issues of right and wrong, and what it means to be human. Through learning in Religious Education, children gain knowledge and understanding about the beliefs, practices, and customs of the six major world religions: Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Buddhism. Children also learn about the founders of these religions. Throughout the year major festivals are celebrated, either through RE lessons or through whole school celebrations. We teach personal, social, health, citizenship, and economic education as it is an important and necessary part of all children’s education. Our teaching is designed to equip pupils with a sound understanding of risk and with the knowledge and skills necessary to make a safe and informed decision as they get older and embark on life’s journey. - The John Fisher School is a growing voluntary aided, all-ability, Catholic school for students. Students are supported by staff to aspire for 'Academic, Sporting and Cultural excellence' through their studies and co-curricular opportunities. The John Fisher School was rated as 'Outstanding' behavior & 'Outstanding' Sixth Form (Ofsted, October 2013) with A-level results judged 'Outstanding' (ALPs - August 2016). The school is a community of learning and worship, with love and support central to all our activities and experiences. We believe as well that all aspects of the life of the School should be lived in a spirit of justice and charity and that Christian selflessness should be part of all our dealings with one another. This was highlighted in our 'Outstanding' Section 48 Inspection report (for Schools with a religious character). We desire that students leave us as mature, independent learners who are ready to take responsibility for their progress beyond school and can make valuable contributions to the wider community for years to come. Students, supported by their parents/carers, are encouraged to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities for personal development outside the traditional classroom environment. In Sport, opportunities exist across the full range of sports for students to participate at the very highest levels. We currently have student international representation in Rugby, Cross Country, and Athletics. In Rugby, The John Fisher School has been recognized as one of the foremost state schools in the UK and has enjoyed considerable success in this game at the highest level (Runners Up in National Rugby Sevens 2015). In Cross Country, we are rated as the highest-ranked state school nationally, competing with the best independent schools such as Eton College, Radley College, and Abingdon. The school also has an excellent reputation in cricket and athletics (Sutton LA Athletics champions 2015 & 2016). We believe that the school is one part of a community, and as such, share our expertise and facilities with local schools and the community to promote participation in sport at all levels. In Music, the award-winning Chapel Choir offers students an unrivaled opportunity to participate at the very highest level in national and international festivals and competitions. In addition to sports and music, students participate in activities such as drama, debating, chess, and various House Competitions. The School is forward-thinking and forward-looking, taking advantage of the very latest technologies to enhance learning and teaching across the curriculum. Having appointed specialist teachers in Computing, Literacy, and Inclusion, the school values helping students develop a range of skills. Working in partnership with parents/carers and Governors, our highly skilled and caring staff is dedicated to ensuring each student achieves his full potential regardless of ability or aptitude through excellent and varied learning experiences. As part of the broader curriculum experience, students have access to a full range of trips and visits. Each year all students have an opportunity to participate in our varied Retreat program organized by our School Chaplain. Recent trips abroad include Choir Olympics in Austria, Rugby tours to South Africa, History visits to Berlin as well as the First World War Battlefields, Ski trips to the USA, France, and Italy, and much more. Closer to home all subject departments take advantage of the opportunity to visit museums, galleries, and theatres in and around London. Students in all year groups are proud of the rich traditions of The John Fisher School and are encouraged to wear their uniforms with pride. The first twenty students who joined the school in 1929 may not recognize much of today’s modern teaching terminology and technology. However, what they would recognize in John Fisher students today are the timeless values of courteousness, honesty, and consideration for others. We pride ourselves on offering an excellent educational experience for all our students. Whilst our team of staff is cherished, we fully appreciate that our students will always be our priority, instilling aspiration and meeting their needs comes first. The John Fisher School is well known for its academic success, cultural and sporting excellence combined with phenomenal pastoral care, guidance, and support. The John Fisher School opened in 1929 and whilst we embrace its past we continue to redefine our horizons. We continuously aim to be a great school because we understand that great schools change lives. We are a values-led institution. Our Christian and shared values underpin an inclusive ethos where faith is taken seriously. There is a culture of high standards for everyone who learns and works in our school. We are not interested in low expectations, fixed mindsets, or making excuses. We are interested in unlocking the God-given potential of every individual within a caring and supportive learning environment. John Fisher is often described as "more than a school" but rather a hub in the community. - The Highway Primary School, which has been serving the local community and providing a high-quality education for over 65 years. Our inclusive, family ethos underpins a caring, safe environment where values such as self-esteem and mutual respect allow all children and staff to feel confident, happy, and valued. We see all our children as unique individuals and celebrate their diversity. The Highway is a one-form entry, recently rebuilt and refurbished co-educational primary with approximately 220 pupils on roll. In April 2016 we were delighted to gain Academy status and become part of a Multi-Academy Trust known as the South Orpington Learning Alliance (SOLA) with 5 other local schools: Chelsfield Primary, Darrick Wood Junior School, Green St Green Primary, Pratts Bottom Primary, and Tubbenden Primary. As a school, we endeavor to provide the highest standard of education in a safe, supportive, learning environment, where respect and British values are promoted. We pride ourselves on being a happy, caring, welcoming school where the work of all pupils, staff, and parents is highly valued. We adhere to our school mission statement: Everyone matters at The Highway. Our school is set in beautiful, spacious grounds and is very well equipped with excellent resources including interactive whiteboards in every classroom. We have a networked computing suite, additional laptops and iPads, staging and lighting for productions, a dedicated music room, library, and well-qualified, caring teachers. We also value your input, as your child’s first teachers, and your belief in us that we have the best interests of your child at heart. We have an open-door policy so come in and talk to us! We work hard to promote fundamental British values as part of our spiritual, moral, social, and cultural education in a school where we nurture the whole child, not just fulfilling their academic potential but their personal and creative development too.
