      1. Voronezh State University is a research-led institution. Its research activities are organized within 18 faculties, six research institutes, and 16 research laboratories administered by the Russian Academy of Sciences. Our ten research and development centers have a strong record of collaborating with the region's leading commercial and public sector organizations. We pride ourselves on fundamental cutting-edge research currently carried out in the Nanotechnology Centre and the Science Park, which house state-of-the-art facilities and implement advanced technologies enabling us to retain high rankings among the leading Russian Universities consistently. We are among the Top 100 BRICS Universities (17th in Russia and 90th in BRICS). We have an excellent academic portfolio of over 100 postgraduate courses available both to Russian and international students. Aiming to provide more significant research opportunities, we expand our postgraduate courses every year across different faculties. We offer a multitude of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses (both full- and part-time) which center around the following primary research and teaching programs: Physics and mathematics Radiophysics Electronics Natural sciences Geosciences Humanities and social sciences Educational theory and pedagogy Medicine and pharmaceutics Economics and management. Over 1400 staff are currently actively involved in research projects, including 100 research fellows, three full members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 70 academicians and corresponding Russian and foreign Academies, and 292 professors. A total of 43 staff members hold various honorary titles awarded by the Russian Federation government for their outstanding achievements and notable contribution to their research fields. The university's research portfolio includes as many as 28 key research areas, emphasizing ground-breaking research into nanotechnologies. Throughout its long and glorious history, Voronezh State University has formed more than 40 internationally recognized academic and research communities that annually undertake more than 200 research projects and are regularly awarded national and international grants to pursue their research. Currently, the staff is actively engaged in 8 international projects as part of TEMPUS and FP7 .programs. Voronezh State University is home to 25 Dissertation Defense Boards, which oversee the preparation and the defense of Ph.D., Dr. Phil. habil, and Dr. Phil. Nat. habil dissertations and submit recommendations to the Supreme Certifying Committee for the award of postgraduate degrees. Voronezh State University is highly committed to distributing and exchanging knowledge and expertise generated by our researchers. We have rightfully earned a reputation as a leading research center in Russia due to a total of more than 60 national and international conferences that we host on an annual basis.       3. The State Budgetary Institution of Higher Professional Education «Voronezh State Medical University named after N.N. Burdenko» of the Ministry of Public Health of the Russian Federation is known as one of its leading research and teaching centers with a total of about 5,000 students. It is one of the oldest educational institutions in Russia. Its history goes back to 1802 – Dept University foundation, which moved to Voronezh in 1918. In 1930, its medical faculty became an independent medical institute, which achieved its academy status in 1994. The University has proved its worth as an academic institution providing high-quality education and conducting advanced scientific research in Medicine, Biology, and Pharmacy. The quality of its performance is reflected in the rating scale, according to which the University is included in the top ten medical schools of Russia. Its foundation has prepared more than 40 thousand medical specialists, including foreign ones from 56 countries of Europe, Asia, and Africa. The Founder of the University is the R.F. Government. The Founder's powers and competencies belong to the Ministry of Public Health of the Russian Federation. The University has a perpetual license for educational activity and state accreditation.       4. Voronezh State Agrarian University was founded in 1912 and named after Emperor Peter the Great. Therefore, the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education, Voronezh State Agrarian University, is the oldest academic institution in the Central Black Earth economic region and the second-largest agricultural academic institution after Moscow State Agrarian Academy, named after K.A.Timiryazev. The establishment of Voronezh State Agrarian University laid the foundation of the Agricultural Academic Institutions Development Project in the Russian Empire. Adam Dietrich designed the campus's architectural complex, and seven objects of the university architectural complex are currently regarded as cultural property sites. After the October revolution in 1917, the University was renamed Voronezh Institute of Agrarian. All the tsar names were removed from the names of the cities and establishments in SFSR. In 1967 Voronezh State Agrarian Institute was named after its first Rector K.D. Glinka. On January 11, 1991, Voronezh State Agrarian Institute became Voronezh State Agrarian University n.a. K.D. Glinka. On May 23, 2011, by the Ministry of Agriculture, our University got back its historic name, Voronezh State Agrarian University, named after Emperor Peter the Great. Back in 1912, the Royal Government bought out over 800 ha of private lands and handed them over for training and research to the newly-established University. The research and production complex of the University kept expanding. In 1962 a training farm, "Berezovsky," located in Ramonsky district 30 kilometers away from the university campus with 7500 ha, was established. Over 80 thousand specialists graduated from our University during the past century. The past and the present of our University are inextricably connected with our country's history: the First and the Second World Wars, the October Revolution 1917, the Civil War, the Collectivization, purges, the Great Patriotic War, post-war restoration, modern history. Peter the Great is one of the largest agrarian universities in Russia and the research, educational and cultural center of the Black Earth Region. It is also one of the leaders in international cooperation: the University has partners in more than 25 countries. More than 15,000 students studying at the University can choose from 19 majors, 30 specializations, and 52 qualifications. Post-graduate students can choose from 36 specializations. The total number of the staff is more than 1,400, including 664 teachers (of which 440 have Candidates' (Ph.D.) or Doctors' degrees and 105 hold Professors' posts). VIHT has been carried out fundamental and professional training of high-skilled personnel in the fields of IT-technologies, Computer Science and Engineering, Economics and Management, Human Resource Management, Service and Tourism since 1992.       9. Voronezh State Agrarian University was founded in 1912 and named after Emperor Peter the Great. Therefore, the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education, Voronezh State Agrarian University, is the oldest academic institution in the Central Black Earth economic region and the second-largest agricultural academic institution after Moscow State Agrarian Academy, named after K.A.Timiryazev. The establishment of Voronezh State Agrarian University laid the foundation of the Agricultural Academic Institutions Development Project in the Russian Empire. Adam Dietrich designed the campus's architectural complex, and seven objects of the university architectural complex are currently regarded as cultural property sites. After the October revolution in 1917, the University was renamed Voronezh Institute of Agrarian. All the tsar names were removed from the names of the cities and establishments in SFSR. In 1967 Voronezh State Agrarian Institute was named after its first Rector K.D. Glinka. On January 11, 1991, Voronezh State Agrarian Institute became Voronezh State Agrarian University n.a. K.D.
