  1. "Bw who you are and be that well." The wise words of Visitation Order co-founder St. Francis de Sales form the heart of a Georgetown Visitation education. The high school years are a time of discovery, not just of knowledge and skills, but also of yourself and your potential. We provide the spiritual grounding, challenging academics, plentiful opportunities, and supportive and joyous community that enable our students to cultivate their God-given gifts. And they do—with confidence, with enthusiasm, and, as with everything here, with friends. Georgetown Visitation, founded in 1799, is a college preparatory school rooted in the Roman Catholic faith and Salesian tradition, committed to educating young women from diverse backgrounds. We are a faith-centered community dedicated to educational excellence, enriched by co-curricular and service programs. Our mission is to empower our students to meet the demands and challenges of today's rapidly changing and morally complex world. We guide our students to become self-reliant, intellectually mature, and morally responsible women of faith, vision, and purpose. A graduate of Georgetown Visitation believes in herself and respects the dignity of all persons. As a woman of faith, vision, and purpose, She has developed strong character and knows that her faith, enriched by Catholic theology and Salesian tradition, serves as a firm foundation as she meets a morally complex world's challenges. She values her relationships with God, self, family, and friends and demonstrates a desire for service to others. She believes in her potential and has acquired a breadth of knowledge and skills that she may build as an enthusiastic lifelong learner. She embraces the world beyond Visitation and is a catalyst for positive change, empowered by her belief in God and actively living the Salesian virtues. She thinks independently, communicates effectively, and confronts ambiguity confidently. She understands and appreciates cultures, religions, and economic and ethnic backgrounds different from her own. She demonstrates moral integrity, personal responsibility, and a commitment to sharing her talents to better society. The Georgetown Visitation graduate enters society valuing her relationship with God, her peers, and the world around her shaped by the breadth of her knowledge and the broad scope of her vision. Visitation students have an appetite for learning, nourished by our experienced faculty and outstanding liberal arts and sciences program. We teach writing, speaking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in every discipline, but it's the environment—energetic and collaborative—that takes learning to another level. Classrooms are vibrant, and girls work together to achieve their personal best. A Visi education is as enjoyable as it is challenging, and our motivated students are well prepared for very selective colleges, varied careers, and all aspects of life. Visitation students are confident thinkers, excellent writers, and fearless problem-solvers. Rooted in the liberal arts and sciences, our well-rounded college-preparatory curriculum nurtures these qualities and gives girls glimpses into subjects and fields that pique their curiosity and drive them to explore their passions. We provide engaging electives that proactively enhance our traditional core subjects. Our classes are laboratories for questioning, where girls are challenged to grow and pushed to stretch their own boundaries. All classes emphasize hands-on lessons, real-world scenarios, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Many courses take advantage of our location in the nation's capital, which allows students to relate their studies to the world. Guided by experienced and passionate faculty, students feel comfortable and confident challenging, answering, discussing, learning, and laughing. Through group projects and constructive feedback, girls build relationships with their peers and teachers. Beyond merely learning dates and memorizing theories, classroom discussion inspires girls to question and learn from one another. Visi girls are analytical collaborators, eloquent speakers, and energetic self-advocates. In every discipline, students deepen their faith and knowledge and discover what they are capable of, all while having fun. All Teachers, administrators, and staff support each student and ensure that she has what she needs to achieve her personal best. Teachers are available to students who want extra help outside of class, whether to prepare for a test or assist with a science fair project or essay competition. Our Learning Support faculty are valuable resources for students and parents alike. Learning Support teachers work with students who may need additional academic support to ensure their successful transition to high school. The Director teaches Learning Support and Strategies, freshman- and sophomore-level courses that build study, planning and organization, time management, and other skills necessary for academic success. Students learn to assess their learning styles and develop effective personal learning strategies. All teachers rely on the expertise of the Learning Support faculty to nurture personal excellence in all students.

In our dynamic, globalized world, students need to be critical thinkers and innovative explorers. They need to be creative and adaptable. They need to collaborate and communicate effectively. And they need to be self-reliant and resilient. That is why at Visitation, we say education is Non-Scholae, Sed Vitae – not for school, but life. To help our students, from the littlest to the seniors, prepare for this changing world, our rigorous curriculum and enlightened instruction model provide versatile learning opportunities, encourage responsible independence, and ensure deep engagement with classmates and faculty at the heart of a Visitation education. Our academic and co-curricular programs provide personal expression and leadership opportunities while nurturing the close, caring bonds that characterize the Vis experience. Underpinning all this is a faith legacy that emphasizes the Salesian virtues of gentleness, patience, humility, and liberty of spirit. Students learn to joyfully live out the maxim of Saint Francis de Sales: "Be who you are and be that well." Visitation students go forth into the world prepared to change it for the better. They go forth competent, courageous, and caring. And we rejoice in their future and the chance we have had to be part of their extraordinary lives. Convent of the Visitation School acknowledges that diversity can be described in a variety of ways. After consulting with the Visitation Monastic Community, students, faculty, alumnae, staff, parents, and members of the Board of Trustees, we have prayerfully discerned that diversity is an opportunity for theological understanding and acceptance. Visitation School provides a warm, welcoming environment. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential components of excellent education and developing global leaders. At Visitation, this work stems from our deep roots, is fueled by the passion of an exceptional community, and is of ongoing importance for our school every day. A visitation is a place where many voices, experiences, perspectives, positions, and identities come together, yet we remain united through our Salesian heritage and humanity. A visitation offers a remarkable breadth of opportunities: French, Spanish and Chinese starting in Montessori preschool robotics starting in grade five robust arts, athletics, and service-learning programs plus a full array of specialist teachers augmenting our classroom faculty. The result is a beautiful richness of options with many chances for each student to find and nurture new talents. View full school
  4. Visitation Academy is an independent, Catholic school offering a coeducational early childhood program and an all-girls environment in Grades 1-12. The Lower School educates toddlers- through Kindergarten-aged boys and girls in the Montessori method while also providing the area's only all-girls program in Grades 1-5. Rooted in Visitation Academy's strong academic excellence tradition, the Middle School provides a challenging, exploratory, integrative, and relevant curriculum focused on girls' unique needs in Grades 6-8. The Upper School offers a rigorous college preparatory curriculum for young women in Grades 9-12. In a welcoming community that emphasizes personal attention, students join in the Academy's rich tradition while also learning to "Live Jesus" in their everyday lives. Visitation Academy is a private school community in St. Louis that exists to educate children and young women and to receive and share Jesus as Mary did in her VisitationVisitation to Elizabeth. In an environment that values excellence in scholarship, spirituality, leadership, and service, this Visitation Community encourages students to develop their unique gifts. As students learn to live Jesus with gentleness, humility, joy, and freedom, they are prepared to continue to grow and respond to others, the Church, and the global community. The Sisters of the Visitation knew even 180+ years ago what research is finding today about single-sex education. These visionary women instinctively knew about educating girls in an academic setting with equal rigor offered to boys of their era. Viz's educational and value system is as relevant for the 21st century as it was for the 19th. To fulfill the mission of preparing students to respond to others, the Church, and the global community, the Board of Trustees of Visitation Academy recognizes that it is vital to develop and maintain an environment in which all students have the opportunity to recognize, experience, understand, and appreciate people of diverse backgrounds. The Board of Trustees supports those curricular and co-curricular initiatives which achieve this goal and urges the Visitation community to work actively to include qualified students, faculty, and staff whose unique gifts enhance the extent to which VisitationVisitation is representative of the diversity of our society. In keeping with the Academy's central theme of "Living Jesus," the Board of Trustees emphasizes the need to foster an institutional culture that honors the dignity and sacredness of every human life. Upper School and Middle School students can promote diversity by participating in Peace and Justice, the Academy's diversity club. Peace and Justice diversity club's goal is to promote cultural differences and engender respect for them through special events. Students accomplish this goal by hosting special events and programs on campus. Lower School students, in addition to the expansive multicultural lessons incorporated into their curriculum, also attend special presentations, participate in International Day, and perform at all-school diversity events. A student interested in academic excellence, leadership, community service, faith, extracurricular activities, teamwork, and respect for others will thrive at Visitation Academy. The selection process is structured to guarantee that students are admitted who will succeed in this environment. Visitation values diversity and admits qualified candidates without regard to race, religion, or ethnic origin. Our admission procedure allows both parties to explore each other's needs. Visitation's utmost concern is for the student and finding the right fit for their success. View full school
